My headcanon for Lillie being able to "carry" Cosmoem was always: 1) it floats 2) it's a psychic type that likes being close to her so even out of it as it is it subconciously tries to follow her around/stick with her. It does the heavy lifting for her because it isn't as actively mischieveous as Cosmog anymore
I like the idea that its following her around like that! I imagine Cosmoem as effectively having 0 friction. Even though Lily can only apply a tiny amount of force to it, because she's constantly doing it cosmoem eventually speeds up to a walking speed. Lily just has to start out really slow until it makes it there. It also has the hilarious side effect of, if she ever stops or turns suddenly, cosmoem bodily knocks or drags her off her feet. And then hangs there for like 5 seconds while her bag slowly sets her down.
Actually I am pretty sure that because it’s floating it’s mass becomes practically zero because the only force being applied is the force caused by the bag pushing it around when she moves the reason why is because there’s no real gravity affecting it’s mass, it would be like carrying someone way bigger and heavier than you in a pool without any trouble

Force = mass x acceleration so that also means that acceleration = force / mass, this means that to accelerate an object with high mass takes more force than accelerating an object with low mass. As you don't need to worry about the coeficient of friction or anything (assuming air resistance is not a factor) even a baby could slowly accelerate the object (or pokemon), it would just take a lot of time to accelerate to a walking speed and an equal amount of time to decelerate to a stop, unless you can exert a high enough force

When pushing a completely floating object, the only resistance you need to go against when pushing/pulling orizontally would be: 1) the force it applies on itself to stay still in place, if any. If cosmoem does not fight you, that can be assumed 0. 2) the friction between cosmoem and the medium it's floating in, which is air, which becomes denser as you get faster. Assuming you're just walking, air resistance is irrelevant. So yeah, it depends on wether the forces that make it float are only vertical or not.

To the physics question: If she could push it is one thing, but as cosmoem still would gain momentum, it could potentially break her back if she ran and then suddenly stopped. It is dangerous

"Weavile ends Garchomp." That's what I thought, but here's the problem I didn't realise until I'd already beaten Cynthia with severe difficulty: Weavile learns 5 physical ice type moves in BDSP. One is the 40 base power Ice Shard. One is the 60 base power Avalanche, which has -4 priority and thus always goes last (and thus isn't viable against Garchomp since no matter how many speed EV's you have, you'll go last). The other three are ALL egg moves. And getting one with an egg move, especially the right egg move, can be a bit of a hassle, especially if you're a casual player who just wants to hard-check Cynthia's crazy-powerful Garchomp and finish the game without crying. I've heard rumors that the Sneasel in the Grand Underground have egg moves. Can anyone confirm this?
About the 'Special Abilities' Celebi can travel through time, and Mew I believe only... uh... is the ancestor to all pokemon and is really op (in the anime) even going 1-1 with Mewtwo and winning

It would be very difficult to get Nebby moving however as air resistance is the only opposing force (assuming psychic energy is forcing a negative vertical acceleration), it would be very difficult to stop Nebby’s movement once in horizontal motion so if she finally got Nebby moving, Nebby ain’t stopping.
However, if Nebby is providing equal force in all directions to counter-act its mass, then Nebby would never be moving more or faster than the force applied by being rammed by her bag. So long as Lilly never accelerated nor decelerated more than what her bag could then impart in force, (nor more than what that bag could contain from impact) then Nebby would technically just ricochet around her bag indefinitely.
Hi, Someone who took physics here, If something is floating, no matter how much mass or density there is, it would be easy to push, as there is no gravity acting on it, thus making it effectively weightless. With a lack of gravity, there is no friction, making it practically weightless.
However, while pushing it will be easy, pushing it quickly will still be an issue. As Mikey said, F = m•a, so assuming she weight about 50kg, every acceleration she do (start moving, stop moving or changing direction) will either take 20 times more force, or be 1/21 as effective (so it will take her 21 times the, well, time, to reach the same velocity).
Weightless in the sense that it is movable, but still the force required to move is immense. Put a car in neutral and on flat ground and push it. It'll move, but it wont be easy in the slightest.
It looks like the trend for years between gens has kept up lol. Honestly, though, I wish that they'd spend an extra year or two between gens nowadays. I personally really like Scarlet and Violet, but they still have a boatload of issues that really go to show that these games need more development time to iron them out.

9:04 Funny story, I was at the move tutor and accidentally removed earthquake on my garchomp. I try to relearn it, but it doesn’t let you relearn tm moves. So then I tried reloading my save, only to realize it auto saved removing earthquake. Lille only has to move cosmoem against air resistance. So unless the Pokemon has a very large surface area or her bag has a really high air pressure, moving it shouldn't be a problem. Edit: Cosmoem is probably moving on it's own. Moving it horizontally is no problem for Lille but every time she moves vertically Nebby would have to pull itself up too.
Honestly this was a head scratcher for me when I learn about this, would less likely makes more sense on the games part if Lillie have Cosmoem in a pokeball overall.
I don't claim to 100% be a expert but from my knowledge this is the case, because there's no friction and no force actually holding it back it shouldn't be that hard to push or pull Nebby, in theory if there was no friction whatsoever you could push a very very heavy object with fairly minimal effort, or at least keep it moving, again do not claim to be a expert tho so I might be wrong. Edits: Keep in mind that when you're pushing something, as long as the up and down are equal, only force you actually need to overcome is friction and air resistance, so without friction and a huge air resistance you do be shmovin. Also to add onto what Mikey said, in the case of mass times acceleration, since friction would contribute to the accerlation, this is probably not correct but from my understanding the equation would ultimately end in 0, which means your needed effort to move it is non-existent (not 100% sure this is how it works but yeah, this is my understanding).
I think moving it horizontally would still be a problem. Inertia isn’t dependent on friction, only on an object’s mass. F=ma so causing Cosmoem’s acceleration would depend on its mass and on Lillie’s force whenever she began to push or pull. since cosmoem has mass it would logically still be effected by inertia and thus Lillie would still essentially be pulling around a boulder every time she moves and yet she is seen sprinting off in the games with cosmoem in the backpack. And yes it’s not like it would be constantly pulling her down as yes it is floating, but it is stationary and thus as Newton’s first law of motion states, it would still try to resist the change in motion and it’s weight would mean it would require a LOT of energy to get past that inertial “barrier” and thus would still be extremely difficult to move.
This would mean lily is capable of pulling around a semi truck with no real effort.
Something else I forgot to mention, LILLIE’s SPINE IS INDESTRUCTIBLE. Let me explain. The idea of an object wanting it stay at rest is also true for an object wanting to stay in motion. And I am sure we all know what mass x acceleration equals. And based on both pixel measurements and statistical average running speed for someone of her hight, age, and overall build, her running speed would be about 15-17MPH so we will just go with 16 MPH. This speed would also be transferred to cosmoem. Plug this information into a calculator as I do not have the time to do the math myself, and all of it comes to equal 9733 newtons of force, or 992 kilograms of force, or 1.05 tons of force. This means that much force is hitting her spine every time she stops.

That's what I thought, but here's the problem I didn't realise until I'd already beaten Cynthia with severe difficulty: Weavile learns 5 physical ice type moves in BDSP. One is the 40 base power Ice Shard. One is the 60 base power Avalanche, which has -4 priority and thus always goes last (and thus isn't viable against Garchomp since no matter how many speed EV's you have, you'll go last). The other three are ALL egg moves. And getting one with an egg move, especially the right egg move, can be a bit of a hassle, especially if you're a casual player who just wants to hard-check Cynthia's crazy-powerful Garchomp and finish the game without crying.
I've heard rumors that the Sneasel in the Grand Underground have egg moves. Can anyone confirm this?

About the 'Special Abilities' Celebi can travel through time, and Mew I believe only... uh... is the ancestor to all pokemon and is really op (in the anime) even going 1-1 with Mewtwo and winning

It would be very difficult to get Nebby moving however as air resistance is the only opposing force (assuming psychic energy is forcing a negative vertical acceleration), it would be very difficult to stop Nebby’s movement once in horizontal motion so if she finally got Nebby moving, Nebby ain’t stopping.

Hi, Someone who took physics here, If something is floating, no matter how much mass or density there is, it would be easy to push, as there is no gravity acting on it, thus making it effectively weightless. With a lack of gravity, there is no friction, making it practically weightless.

As Mikey said, F = m•a, so assuming she weight about 50kg, every acceleration she do (start moving, stop moving or changing direction) will either take 20 times more force, or be 1/21 as effective (so it will take her 21 times the, well, time, to reach the same velocity).

So then I tried reloading my save, only to realize it auto saved removing earthquake. After that incident and teaching bulldoze (the discount ground move) I turned off autosave and will never turn it back on again.

Lille only has to move cosmoem against air resistance. So unless the Pokemon has a very large surface area or her bag has a really high air pressure, moving it shouldn't be a problem.
Edit: Cosmoem is probably moving on it's own. Moving it horizontally is no problem for Lille but every time she moves vertically Nebby would have to pull itself up too.
Honestly this was a head scratcher for me when I learn about this, would less likely makes more sense on the games part if Lillie have Cosmoem in a pokeball overall.
I don't claim to 100% be a expert but from my knowledge this is the case, because there's no friction and no force actually holding it back it shouldn't be that hard to push or pull Nebby, in theory if there was no friction whatsoever you could push a very very heavy object with fairly minimal effort, or at least keep it moving, again do not claim to be a expert tho so I might be wrong.
Edits: Keep in mind that when you're pushing something, as long as the up and down are equal, only force you actually need to overcome is friction and air resistance, so without friction and a huge air resistance you do be shmovin. Also to add onto what Mikey said, in the case of mass times acceleration, since friction would contribute to the accerlation, this is probably not correct but from my understanding the equation would ultimately end in 0, which means your needed effort to move it is non-existent (not 100% sure this is how it works but yeah, this is my understanding).
I think moving it horizontally would still be a problem. Inertia isn’t dependent on friction, only on an object’s mass. F=ma so causing Cosmoem’s acceleration would depend on its mass and on Lillie’s force whenever she began to push or pull. Once it was floating along, sure it would keep floating in that direction, but to accelerate it at even 2 m/s^2 would take 2,000 Newtons of force.
It would most likely be difficult to start pushing and then be insanely difficult to stop
