- Our principal guest conductor, Johan de Meij, returns to lead The New York Wind Symphony through his second Symphony entitled, The Big Apple. Performed on October 2nd, 2016.
My high school marching band performed this back in '96. Very intense. Good times.
Man that is an incredible performance. This has got to be one of my all-time favorite band works,
Philip Glass????
This piece has much more in common with John Adams "A Short ride in a fast maschine"
It's a shame that Toulouse wind orchestra managed nearly seven times the You Tube hits that New York did.
This is still really good though and New York managed with fewer players.
He appears to be stealing an awful lot from Philip Glass
Short Ride?
@@obiwan88 that's John Adams
nobody's stealing nobody
not all minimalist pieces should be called stealing from glass
acting like a pro just makes you seem like a noob
@@edwardchen9619 of course, you're correct but there are an awful lot of arpeggios and chromatic sequences in this piece which have been lifted wholesale from Glass.
Plus a little bit from Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man.
