How am i the only 192nd person to like this video?! It sums up my 6 years of strong side or appendix carry woes and succeses succinctly. The flexibility to carry strong side at 3, 3:30, etc to 4:30 even 5 o'clock positions to fit body type could have been mentioned. As could be the ability to clear your cover garment while you draw with appendix carry and not needing a support hand. I'm tall and thin, err, ish, err, used to be, err, and loved the cross fit jabs. All in all, the best video I've ever seen on the subject.

I think a good thing to think about with regard to carry location would be weapon retention. If you’re in a fight, you don’t want a bad guy going for your gun before you can get to it.

Appendix carry I believe came about largely from Naval and Pirate crews when the used swords in the early days of firearms. They had one shot per gun and sometimes carried two handguns and saved it for someone coming close to them or when they lost their sword.

Cross fit body haha. Yeah I’m there with you bro. Some of us marines get out of PT shape after we get out. I gained mine after a bad back injury that needed surgery and then trying to get back on trac and then diagnosed with severe narcolepsy some years later after having zero energy for years. Along with complex sleep apnea. Well I’m on my way back trying to lose the weight. I’m down 20 pounds from January 2017. I got another 30 to go. I’m 216 now and 185 would be amazing.

Love this channel. Great work! As far as carry, with any modicum of awareness, pocket carry is far and above the fastest and most comfortable draw method because you can start with your hand on the machine and no one is the wiser with the right clothing (I choose Duluth trading flex firehouse). Even an old slow guy like me can outdraw anyone choosing another carry style with this method. G26, G43 and Ruger SP101 and other similar size machines work with this clothing. Appendix carry not an option and I'm shocked the gun community is so all over this - you are pointing a gun at not only your junk, but your femoral artery (when seated) and it's uncomfortable as hell to have a barbell jammed in your waistline. Never point a machine at anything you don't want to destroy, right? All the other methods are slower and definitely more uncomfortable than pocket carry. They also generally print more than pocket carry. Keep up the great work on this channel!

Makes me want to rethink my carry rig and come up with the best solution. Glad I didn't bust a hundred dollar bill on that kydex appendix carry rig I had been looking at which would have rubbed my skin raw since I usually only wear a t-shirt 70-80% of the year. subscribed.

Ksg armory makes some incredible kydex holsters. They are comfortable and they have attachments which help to reduce printing. You can also get a full strong grip without the holster design getting in the way. I carry strong side with the “claw” attachment and soft loops (your belts will thank you).
I also like my crossbreed hybrid holster. They have one model that has the leather cut low around the grip, again, allowing for that strong grip on a fast draw. That’s essential.

I work construction and usually have a tool belt on all day so waistband carry is kinda out of the question for not only comfort but also accessibility. I have found the Undertech Undercover compression style tank top with built in holsters and spare mag carriers under each arm, kinda like a Miami Vice-ish shoulder holster setup, to be the best option for me as a construction worker while wearing a tool belt all day. Especially with a flannel or any button down shirt it makes accessing my gun under my shoulder, even with the tool belt on, very intuitive and fast if I leave one button undone mid chest. It is also the most out of the way during the work day as compared to trying to manage all the tools, gun included, around my waistline. I have used ankle carry as well but the Undertech tank top holster has proved to be much quicker and just as comfortable.

Have you tried a "Sticky" holster? I was surprised how much I am trusting it to stay in place. From an old retired jarhead.

Great series, I'm really enjoying your videos! I appreciate the occassioal Idaho jabs, being from the Boise area myself. I have tried all three carry positions with my revolver and my LCP2, and I ended up with a good kydex OWB holster on the strong side. Can't do IWB because of a cyatic nerve problem, so even though it's a small gun, I'm going with OWB. I did try pocket carry, but it was similar to appendix carry and too uncomfortable for me. Great advice about the gun belt - it does make a big difference. Keep up the good work!

I found your holster option interesting for SOB Carry. I have carried SOB and a shoulder holster since 2011 and have found that it is the most comfortable option. I use a left hand draw IWB holster rather than the SOB holster that you featured, It seemed a bit exposed and not entirely in your small of the back. I will admit that you were on point about the draw speed being the slowest second to a shoulder holster.

Good vedio I make my own hybrid holsters they are iwb or pocket strong side as for ex-mag & pepper gell i have made several and the best has been simply 2 reading glasses case from Wal-Mart. Super glued together cut to length velcro on it so it will not easly pull out of my pocket. That works best for me.

Hey, I know this product is relatively new and this video is a few years old, but you should check out the Snag Mag. It’s a mag pouch that goes in your pocket. I love mine. It’s fast, looks like a pocket tool, and is really comfortable. Plus I can throw it on with zero effort in about 1 second. I can’t remember the company name. 1791 Gun Leather, maybe.

i have been using appendix carry for well over a year now, even with a beer belly i find it to be comfortable in my every day use, it really does come down to the gun size and the holster, i run a taurus pt111 g2 as my EDC and i use a crossbred cotton holster, it easily forms around my body and i have very little if any adjustments to do depending on what im doing, i even appendix carry in my vehicle, as i have found it comes down to getting your body used to it being there, i dont just stick it down in the 12 o'clock position i use about 1:30, which i found works best

If appendix carry is uncomfortable for you, look at the height of your pants. Try pulling them up. If the bottom of the barrel is stopping before the bending areas around your groin you’re fine. Doesn’t matter whether you’re sitting in the car or whatever. Plus, and noones mentioned this, appendix offers a massively easier draw in a vehicle without changing anything getting in and out. Just tuck the bottom belt behind the gun as you buckle. Food for thought.

one big advantage of appendix carry is its much easier to draw when seated in a car, either with or without the seatbelt. but you need to make sure you can get at it. after you are seated you should move the belt around so you can access the firearm without moving the belt. thats precious time lost and is likely to get complicated if you panic.
every single firearm instructor I've had recommends against small of the back carry because its a threat to your spinal column and also so difficult to access quickly it defeats the purpose of carrying a concealed weapon.

Agreed appendix carry feels sketch at first, but I got tired of always straightening my shirt out and not being able to lean forward with 4:00 carry. Plus with my T1 concealment holster I can get an extra magazine as part of my holster for a really easy all in 1 rig. Just my opinion.

When I started carrying my first pistol, it was kind of an odd ball gun which made the holster thing kind of a challenge. My first holster was an uncle Mike's (yes yes I know) and then after that I managed to find a good kydex holster fitted spicifically for that gun. (Somehow) I carried that for about 2 years before I finally broke the clip on it. Now its retired from carry and sits in a nice leather holster I got for it a while back

I am a medium build thin person. A little under 6ft and about 180 pounds. I carried appendix or about the 2 o' clock position for a long time. After a while, you realize how hampered you are, doing anything that requires bending, reaching, very hot days, using restrooms, etc. You aren't going to try on clothes in any store, carrying? Going to a gym? Have to lock it up. And there is like two surveillance cameras for every person on earth now, pointed in our faces, 24/7. For myself, there isn't any inside the waist holster that would not be instantly noticeable on me wearing any type of lighter shirt, or t-shirt. I print more than a newspaper. I believe most of these holsters would print on this gentleman too based on what I see? Shoulder: even worse. Ankle: I cannot even fathom how this awkward position could be done without serious restrictions, and of course, you can never wear shorts and do it. Many times I do not carry solely because there isn't a damn holster that I can use comfortably and effectively. I may buy a S. & W. Bodyguard and try that out. Very frustrating.

As a skinny appendix carry guy two things I can suggest in selecting a appendix carry gun. Having a grip safety or a hammer (CZ P-01) you can train yourself to ride the hammer with your thumb or move your hand away from the grip safety when holstered. Smaller guns work better especially with a padded holster like the N82. What made my choice was being in defensive situations in the past. Ambush is the criminals best friend. If they are attacking you your strongest position or retention and ability to draw is in the front and close to the body. If you are carrying any way besides appendix lay flat on your back and try to draw our gun. If someone was on top of you attacking you it would be near impossible the way your elbow bends. Pushed up against the wall (similar situation) Just some thoughts. KaBar TDI horizontal center of body weak side and XDS appendix. Mace in rear near the wallet.

I'm going to my local range and renting a 1911 and the Glock 21 ( I think acts the biggest in size simpler to the 1911 that chambers the .45 ACP)

Kydex will not crack if properly formed. The R51 is NOT a fine gun that shoots fine. Clips are always a bad idea; The SMALL bit of added convenience you get compared to a closed pull the dot loop is easily outweighed by the risk of the clip failing. Is it really that hard to undo a snap? In my experience a kydex taco-style holster is the right choice for most people. It can be configured well for appendix, or 4 o'clock, is smaller and easier to don/doff than a giant crossbreed, and will have consistent retention unlike hybrid style holsters.

M&p shield with a techna clip appendix carry without a holster. Works great on a leather belt and is invisible. No one has ever noticed it on me and I work as a waiter so I'm around customers all the time. Of course I carry without one in the chamber so I don't shoot my dick off. Downside is you have to clean out the fuzz often but I don't mind. Its so comfortable and it doesn't even feel like it's there.

Personally, I like the hybrid style holsters carrying at 3 to 4 o'clock. I prefer the "Foxx" brand holsters as they are VERY affordable and actually have the greatest allowance for the adjustment of the cant. If you cant the gun more I have found that I have virtually zero printing. I carry with just a t-shirt during the summer months and the Foxx holsters I have work great. I carry a Beretta px4 compact and a Taurus pt111 G2 in these holsters and neither prints at all. I also have a Crossbreed hybrid and it's a great holster but doesn't have nearly as many adjustments and costs twice as much as the Foxx brand.

I just can't comprehend why someone would carry a full size 1911 as a conceal and carry gun. Let's be honest here. A 1911 fully loaded is going to weigh in the neighborhood of 3 pounds. Do you really think your going to tolerate a 3 pound chunk of metal on your person for a average 15-18 hour day and be comfortable. There are a lot of nice compact conceal and carry guns out there that can be EDC without the weight, discomfort printing ... just my thoughts. Just an opinion from a Army veteran. No disrespect intended. Just carry and stay Vigilant.

Appendix carry for slim guys, strong side for bigger/husky guys… the holster rubs my hip bone like it would rub your stomach 🤷🏾‍♂️

You missed shoulder and ankle holsters. They both have advantages especially for ccw.

flaco5581 I mean unless you wear a suit everyday shoulder holsters aren’t feasible for everyday concealed carry. As for ankle carry, I’ve only seen ppl use it for a backup gun that’s often much smaller, not great for ccw of your primary weapon

Hey Guys, anyone can answer but please be helpful. Ive tried sticky holsters, alien gear tuckables, galco tuckables and the list goes on. I wear business casual every day, tucked shirt, slacks, and maybe a business sweater in the winter. Im an outside salesman, so in and out of the car, meetings, etc. Im about to try a shoulder rig under a button up and owb when I wear the sweater, because nothing else has worked. I cant get something thats comfortable enough to wear daily. Not gonna appendix carry, open to all other suggestions. 6'2 205, athletic build

I know this was posted about a month ago and I don’t know what weapon you are carrying but have you thought of an ankle holster ?

    • @JHGirldad15

@@tubbytuna8590 I have, couple reasons i cant or dont want to- pants ride up when sitting in meetings so it would show or i'd have it so high it would be really tough to get it out because it'd have to be really high up my calf. I also cant wear loose pants, which would also make it hard to get to.

Have you figured a good way to carry yet ? Maybe an off body carry if you have a bag or some thing for work ?

@@tubbytuna8590 Im carrying at my three o clock and wearing thicker boxers. 4 o clock wasnt working in car...hopefully the three o clock will be okay. I see possible issues with concealment when i lose the outer garment I wear during the winter

I don’t wear my shirts tucked besides my under shirts so I don’t have any experience with it. Just kinda throwing out ideas. If the off body carry during the hotter months is a no go. Maybe go to a pocket pistol during those months ? My dad carry’s a mp bodyguard 380 in the pocket. It’s a nice little setup.

Just curious, even if it’s below in the comments(I didn’t scroll down), do you not like aliengear? Or was this recorded long enough ago (before it was released) that aliengear hadn’t established enough of their product yet?

Like a multi tool that does a few things well. Or a specific tool that does one thing exactly as designed. So do holsters. Beware of the multi style holsters. As it is crafted well it just won't serve as well for a specific style of carry.
@gunsamerica. Thoughts and opinions on the "sticky" style holsters?

brotherheed00 I have the sticky holster for my sig p238. I like it alot for what I use it for. Bare bones pocket carry. I did have to trim and burn a tiny little bit so that the rear sights don't snag. This is something that was an issue with the 2nd one I bought that I didn't have with the 1st holster.

Mexican carry is not appendix carry. Mexican carry is just carrying without a holster. The term comes from when the Vaqueros would drop their revolvers down their pants tied to their belts so when the lawmen walked by they didnt have their gun in a large holster on their side in plain view.

    • @michaelw.5921

Chris Adkins The term still applies to the orientation of the firearm. Relax. I am sure this gentleman will apologize if you are a Mexican millennial.

Also, Chris Adkins is correct about Mexican carry. It is FBI strong side, sans holster. This I still do one the occasional quick trip to the store. It can be done with most guns of nearly any size if a cover garment is worn.. T-shirt only dictates a smaller piece.

Been pocket carrying every day for a year with an Ec9s, right now I feel it works best for me. A lot of people seem to write it off but I think it's a very valid option. Just get a good pocket holster like the sticky or a desantis super fly.

I’m 6 foot and 160 (very skinny). I’m getting a kimber pro carry II. I drive a lot for work, so I’m sitting a lot. What is the best place for me to carry? I don’t want to print obviously, but I’m worried about appendix hold for sitting. What do y’all recommend?

Paul Pinnow Strongside if you’re going to be sitting in a car. Small of back isn’t even a choice and appendix is uncomfortable.
