You have to get a generator and solar power because the electricity is unreliable and you have to get water tank to have constant running water. When you leave your property, you are driving on pothole streets. My husband and I left Jamaica a week ago and all the apartments in Kingston were going for some crazy numbers which didn’t include all the added expenses after taxes. In the end, it made more sense to just buy land.

A lot of people complaining about price don't seem to understand how real estate works. It's not just Jamaica. Location matters more than square footage. This is the Corporate Area. So a unit like this would cost more than it would in Trelawny. When you buy you should think of resale. Kingston will have high demand. It doesn't rely on tourism.
As a Jamaican in Florida who's into Home renovation, etc. These Jamaican people are getting out of hand. Jamaica is no St. Croix or even Belize and homes don't sell for anything near that cost elsewhere in the region! As a matter of fact, Dominican Republic real estate is booming and much bigger, better and a peaceful landscape than Jamaica and you could get this and another plus an apartment on a high rise for that money! IN SANTO DOMINGO!
If the government has shown the ability to handle corruption and crime then I will think about returning and buying a house in these lovely neighborhoods. As for now I will continue to live my life. However, these people are out of touch with reality in pricing these homes.
