I have an 8th gen civic and it is everything a civic should be: reliable, good on gas, cheap and it has the added bonus of modern features without too many useless electronics that will fail (lane keep assist, annoying beeps, $1938291 cameras on the rear bumper that would total the car). You could honestly keep buying this car in good condition for $5k and be set for several years while you save for a nice weekend car.
I've owned an ef, and an eg. the ef is good for looks but they are really slow stock and the interior is really loud and you sit really high up. egs feel surprisingly way newer than the efs and the body doesnt flex as much and you feel more connected with the car.

Guess I'm first, so Mark, congratulations on the video content that nobody else seems to do like this. It's great, except for a couple things. Firstly, as far as I know you have never mentioned or even heard of the Toyota Solara. I have watched so many videos hoping to hear my car mentioned as nobody gives this car the love and respect it really deserves. They either insult it (car and driver), ignore it, refuse to consider it sporty (refuse to consider it anything really), or simply remark on the fact that it's just another reliable Toyota car and say they're amazed to still see it on the road. I'd love to hear someone like you who considers civics and accords to be sporty to give your take on this car and give it the respect it deserves. After all, it was Toyota's last genuine attempt at an original sports car, though it ended up being mainly a sporty or summer-fun Camry. It's best model years were 2004-2006 when the 3.3 l v6 made 225 hp and 240 lb/ft of torque, giving it a 0-60 time of 6.7-6.9 sec. Nowadays, the new Toyota Supra is just a rebadged BMW roadster and the Toyota 86 is just a rebadged BRZ. Please talk about the Toyota Solara!
Wow, thanks! I wasn't sure if you would respond or not. I thought the Solara would be a great car for you to review being a sporty jdm Camry and all that. Plus, the rounded corners and teardrop lights of the 2nd gen make it look a little bit like a long 350z (just a little).
I own a 7th gen EX sedan and its a great little shitbox. I abuse mine and drive it like its a race car but it takes it all well, throw on a set of coilovers and some good wheels/tires and (optionally strut bars which i have on mine too) its so damn fun to toss around and drive while still getting good mpg
I absolutely love the front of the 4th gen but I don´t really like the rear tbh, I´d say that the 6th gen looks the best, the front looks so clean and when modded, I think it looks like a racecar the most out of all the civics which I love (maybe because it´s the one from initial d lol)
I own one. I love the thing, no performance mods on it like you said but i painted the logos and wheels, its a great car for what it is and i love the way mine looks. The sad fact is that all the other civics are just a bit better. In terms of cars in general though? Itd be an amazing first car
Im just confused about when you talked about the 8th Gen and 9th Gen Type-R's cause the US never got those...Japan and Europe did get an 8th and 9th Gen Type-R's but they are very different cars for each country 🤔
it would be cool if you ranked the generations of the accord because it would be cool if you ranked the generations of accord because tbh the accord is under rated compared to the civic like there tunable like the civic plus there sleeper ish especially the V6 accords and 2.0t accords were pretty quick the standard inline 4s arent that fast but im pretty sure most of them are k series engines except the v6 accords there J series. there tunable its just thier isnt as many parts as the civic but maybe with time they might see the potential in them and more parts will be bulit for them and people will start buliding them more. plus there amazing daily drivers and they still look great and there just great cars. Secondly, the Audi A4, as commented by ImaGenius on the previous video, is not as reliable as you insist it is. One website ranking does not justify a car's reliability that has been considered average at best on other websites like repair pal due to it being expensive to maintain. The BMW 328i is considered even worse, and German/European cars in general are ranked pretty low in reliability on warranty wise from my understanding. Even mechanics (whom I work with) will express irritation and a general dislike of European cars as unreliable or overcomplicated. Please resolve the misinformation YOU are spreading. After all, European cars like the Audi A4 depreciate so fast in value because they are luxury cars that are not built to last. They are fancy though, I'll give them that.
Well, you are literally just speaking from your personal opinion. And yes mechanics don’t like euro cars. My dads been a mechanic for almost 40 yrs now and is quite literally the best I’ve ever seen do it (I can go on and on ab stories but no one would believe me anyways lol), and even he hates on euro cars. But, he admits they are reliable, he just hates working on them bc everything underneath is so complicated. A lot of mechanics will see that and then just go around calling the car a “POS” when in reality it’s fine. Plus multiple websites say the Audi a4 is incredibly reliable and considering I see tons on sale with well over 200k miles still running w no issues, it makes sense
Oh, so you have actually seen websites with hard data considering these German cars to be reliable? I know they get praised a lot for their detailed and sophisticated design, and if that's what you consider to be reliable, then we are in agreement. My problem with European/German cars is their complexity and large usage of plastics. All this stuff breaks and is more expensive to maintain. And that's my point. While they can last a while, they're just in general significantly more expensive to maintain, which is what I consider to be unreliable. Also, this isn't really my opinion, but the opinion of everyone I've talked to. I'd love to see the websites that say German cars are inexpensive to maintain. Seriously, I'm open to seeing them as good cheap cars if it's true. I just haven't found the data backing that. Also, I dislike super modern cars for the same reasons as they involve a lot of technology that I don't need that will inevitably break and be expensive to repair. Older cars for the win and to hell with electric cars! By.the way, when I accused you of misinformation, I hope you didn't take that too seriously and was just responding to what you said about those who disagree with you.
American cars of course aren't often the best quality, but being cheaply made makes them cheaper to repair. Japanese brands like Toyota have formed a good balance between quality and inexpensiveness or simplicity, making them be considered the most reliable.
I love the 7th gen. They make my lancer seem like a luxury car.
