Butch Hartman LIED About His Christian Streaming Service Scam (With Proof)

  • Oaxis has been a Christian streaming service this whole time. Butch intentionally hid this from his fans to squeeze as much money out of them as possible. He has a huge agenda that he was not transparent about. On top of all that the man has warped views on mental health.

    I'm just so sad about all of this :/
    About accusing Butch of homophobia. Look, I'm not saying all Christians are like that, I know for a fact they aren't.
    Here's the facts:
    A decent amount of religious folk are not okay with LGBT.
    Butch intentionally didn't answer the question about LGBT that was repeatedly asked in his stream.
    The man clearly doesn't respect people outside his religion or people in general.
    There are rumblings of him being really harsh about gay fanart on his forums.
    His one transphobic tweet.
    If Butch wants to come out and say that he isn't, fine, I might even believe him. But as for right now, all signs point to him not being okay with LGBT people, and there is no reason to give him the benefit of the doubt.
    Here is the clip of Butch's nutcase stance on suicide and depression: twitter.com/trogsmitesthee/status/1019865935434473473

    As a Christian, I'm very disappointed with Butch's manipulative, dishonest behavior. It's sad that he only did this so more people would give his idea money. PEOPLE WHO WOULDN'T SPEND THEIR MONEY ON THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE. It's quite gross. I think he should probably give everyone's money back and start over, and either make it clear that he's making a religious service, or ditch the Christian aspect. What's worse, he's trying to JUSTIFY his gross actions by the fact he thinks it's a good cause. Which is very much taught against in the Bible (also, greed and dishonesty.)
    You screwed up, Butch.

      Well his behavior in the past gives a Anti-LGBT vibe and add to that when Butch left Nick was around when Nick added more LGBT themes to shows and even added LGBT type of ad breaks ... then add to that he had started his Kickstarter during Pride Month and it comes out that he wants this to be a Christian orinaited streaming service when he had said nothing about it prior aside from when asked he keep saying''Its just family friendly and none negativty focused'' gives a pretty clear picture what his kind of views are in the Bible in regards to LGBT

    • @fieratheproud
      @fieratheproud 6 лет назад +39

      Lloyd Landrum if I may add, something Danny Phantom related. A few years back some drama arose when Butch shot down a popular fan theory/headcanon. That headcanon is that Danny himself is a trans boy. While I don't think it's bad to say "hey, this character I designed isn't trans" is fine in and on itself, because the creator of a character would know whether or not that character is trans or not. In this case, Danny is canonically cis. But the thing is, if the wording sounds like it's basically saying that being trans is a sin of some sort... Yeah.
      I must admit, I have not seen the video or tweet where he said this, but I do know it happened and I believe it's his DP fact video. With how people reacted, either they were taking it way overboard or he worded it in a transphobic way.

    • @galacticmusicalgirl2179
      @galacticmusicalgirl2179 6 лет назад +40

I know I'm sure as hell pissed off at that, because that is EXACTLY why we have such a bad reputation, because people like Butch make us all seem manipulative, jerks, or close minded
    Also I'm the kind of Christian to support and care about LBGTQ+ rights, since religion is meant to be promoting love and loving our brothers and sisters, so I'm not brainwashed into playing God by saying LBGTQ+ people are going to hell/aren't normal

It both goes against the ten commandments itself but as a person in general, it's just morally wrong. Absolutely disgusting, Butch.

      Ironically "It's a Wishful Life" is one of the most depressing cartoon episodes ever made. As for the topic in general, I'm against things that glorify suicide, but I think that, like you said, mental illness should be addressed so people can learn that it's nothing shameful and there's help available. The live-action show Clarissa Explains It All had a very good episode addressing the topic. There are psalms in the Bible that describe what sounds like depression (and treating it like any other illness rather than something to be ashamed of), so people need to know mental illness is not some new-fangled thing.

    • @vhozonian
      @vhozonian 6 лет назад +8

      Actually, I do agree about that, haven't you ever seen memes about suicide and sometimes get really comfortable about committing suicide? • @karaoconnoraliasraidra
      @karaoconnoraliasraidra 6 лет назад +9

      DLRD I know what you mean. Some people act like suicide is no big deal, or even glamorous, and then wonder why there's an increase in the suicide rate. I once saw an incident in which someone committed suicide and people gushed about what a martyr they were and how they should be praised (Um, what?), and I thought, "That's just going to make people more likely to commit suicide because they'll think they'll be revered if they do." Suicide should be viewed as a tragedy that should be prevented, not something to be praised.

And for him to blame horror movies for depression and suicide is absolutely disgusting. Funny because I actually struggled with depression and still struggle with great sadness at times and social anxiety and I actually take refuge to horror films. I'm a big major horror fan and they surprisingly make me happy and have helped me and still do. Funny isn't it, Butchy?? @@DecaafTweakin So, here's a background on a few key economic terms: inflation, recession, and depression. Inflation is when the spending power of currency rises, so a inflation rate of 3% a year would mean $1 this year would be worth $1.03 next year. Recession is the opposite of inflation. where the spending power of money falls. So an deflation rate of 3% would mean that $1 this year would be $0.97 next year. Depression is a recession, but much, much worse. The Great Depression was called the Great Depression, because it was felt all over the world, due to WWI after-effects and Black Tuesday.

      I think that's the way most people see it but there's a difference between saying something is "family friendly" and calling something "traditional family values". One is, like you said, about being appropriate for children and "wholesome" and the other many people reads as being a nicer way of saying Christian or concservative.

      To be honest, the entire USA could use more traditional family values. The lack of traditional family values is what makes kids grow up to be school shooters, have mental illnesses, fathers who don't teach their boys how to become real Men and mothers who don't teach their daughters how to become real Women, and divorces with marriages lasting only a few years, if that, when back in the 30's-50's, people who married actually married for life and learned how to keep a marriage together. How?
      Traditional Family Values. We all really need to go back to that.

      Tbh, I'm actually confident that he would've still been able to get the money even if he had been honest about his intentions from the get-go. (Fundamental Christians and churches _love_ endeavors to put America's youth back on the straight-and-narrow.) That's what makes this all especially tragic; It could've been avoided so easily, but he literally went out of his way to be deceitful!
      And ironically, saying that it was a streaming service like Netflix but "by Christians for Christians" would've answered the frequently-asked question of "what does Oaxis offer that similar already-existing services don't?"!
      I know for sure that if _I_ had a similar vision, I would've been upfront about the Christian aspect-- if not used it as a selling point! And if some people decided they didn't want to donate specifically because they don't want to support something religion-based, then I would say "That's fine. You are not my target audience anyway, and I wouldn't _expect_ you to want to support it".

    I hope PieGuy will see this comment, though it is quite a long tale. I want to give my thoughts on this situation as someone who had some history with the church.
    People like Butch are the reason why people like me don't believe in church. People like him carry around God's name and use it as an excuse for sin. Want to talk about using the Lord's name in vain? You have people like Butch Hartman who say one thing and do the opposite. I could care less about him making a religious service, but scamming people for money is what the 8th commandment tells you NOT to do.
    I was in a Catholic school called St.Michael's The Archangel (located in Miami) until fourth grade, and I realized very quickly in life how hypocritical these "godly" people act. The kids would preach God's word, yet constantly harassed me for having a disability, dispised LGBT like if it was the plague, and even watched some very disgusting 18+ videos in the middle of computer class. Keep in mind these were 7-8 years old kids! Not only that, but the higher-ups like the principal and the priest would use the church money for themselves instead of helping the poor. And some of the teachers weren't even certified to teach. Thankfully, my mom took me out after realizing all of this. I'm living much happier now as I actually have friends, a RUclips channel I love making videos for, and I'm even the school president. I know this seems off topic, but trust me this relates a lot to Butch's "mission".
    Let me clarify my point is not to attack anyone who is religious. I pray to God every night and I read Daily Bread every morning. But what I'm saying is that people like Butch are the reason tons of people have given up on religion. If there is anything the public has grown aware of in the past decade, it's two-faced people/organizations. While there may some people who work with religion with good intentions, religious extremists like Butch show people the church has sadly become two-faced. You can't scam people and then not expect to get angry, even if it is "in the name of God". I am so sorry to anyone who truly believes in God and just wants to advocate for peace and unity. I'm sorry you have to put up with people like Butch who use the title of "Christian" to justify their own agenda. It's better to be an honest sinner than a "perfect Christian". People like Butch are the reason God hasn't come back, he lives in fear of what he has created and I don't blame him.
    P.S.: One more thing, this actually breaks the whole point of Oaxis. It's funny how religious people talk about the Illuminati controlling children though TV, yet Butch is essentially doing the same thing with Christian values.

    • @HesJulioCoolio
      @HesJulioCoolio 6 лет назад +51

      I acknowledge that there is a difference, but I could care less what religion someone believes in as long as they're a good person. My point is that extremists, no matter what faith they belong to, taint the image of that belief system by acting hypocritically. Sometimes those radicals will do things "for the sake of (insert deity here)" even if their actions go against their beliefs. Those hypocrites, since they are large in number, then make the people who calmly practice their beliefs look bad. If one honesty is a pillar of religion, a religious man like Butch shouldn't be using deceiving tactics to attain his goal even if he is doing the "work of God."

    Last time I checked, The Bible spoke against lying and scamming, so what Butch did was VERY un-Christian of him by lying about his service being Christian propaganda. I had a feeling this was going to be Christian propaganda as soon as I watched Cr1tikal's riff on the Kickstarter video, and even he thought it was Christian propaganda as well, given the way it was presented seemed like it had the mentality of the typical Christian soccer mom who thinks that [insert thing that's popular among kids here] is allegedly "Satanic" for one reason or another, and as it turns out, I was right. I mean, I have no problem with someone trying to make a more family-friendly streaming service, but this whole thing is just.. uggh.

I remember watching Veggietales in Sunday School. Veggie tales at least never brought anyone down for being different. It was just a bible story with a humorous retelling. I liked veggie tales. What Butch is doing is despicable. I can agree about the being in tablets and phones too much thing but its disrespectful to shut out mental illness and LGBTQ persons. Jesus said to love one another. As a Christian, I'm so disappointed in Butch. The way you should bring others to the Christian faith is by doing good works and being a good follower of God, and others will see and might join. And if people don't want to be Christian, oh well, they won't. You're not supposed to deceive people and take their money, I'm ashamed at the bad light Butch puts Christians in 😔

    Listen: I agree that Butch Hartman shouldn't have lied but it is not fair to say that ALL Christians are against the L.G.B.T. community when they most certainly are not. I love The Lord, he's a third parent to me but I know that he would never want me to hate or discriminate against his other children (especially since being gay is not in The Ten Commandments) so I've also been a huge supporter of the L.G.B.T. I'm not a part of it myself just simply because I don't feel gay, Bi or trans but I support that everyone should get along with them and let them be who they are. I am not angry with you, I am not trying to rant at you, I am trying to educate you. Next time: Please do not say that someone is against the L.G.B.T. because they are Christian because you are actively doing the one thing you told us not to do: Putting words in his mouth as well as putting words in the mouths of other Christians (when MOST Christians support L.G.B.T. rights because one of the main Ten Commandments is to LOVE everyone). This whole Christians hate the L.G.B.T. and God hates L.G.B.T. is not only a negative stereotype for the Christians but a lie as well since God loves all of his children unconditionally. So please, unless Butch Hartman openly states that he is against L.G.B.T. please do not just assume that he is because of his faith. I am just so sick of seeing other, decent Christians as well as myself negatively labeled because of what a couple of misguided ones did.

      The distinction many people miss is that Christians believe the practice of homosexuality is immoral, not the desire. Temptation is inevitable; the most you can do is reduce it. Someone who has homosexual attraction can still be Christian, like how people who want to lie or steal can be Christian. Conversion therapy is a way to help people reduce their temptation, and is licit if it is voluntary. Many strong Catholics are former homosexuals, like Michael Voris. Also, it's not a Christian thing to point out that men can not become women; that's just objective truth against relativism. People can call themselves what they want, but it's wrong to lie, even in order to protect people's feelings.

    "Christian values" don't inherently mean indoctrination; they can just as well mean values like "be kind to your neighbor" and all that jazz. The way Butch talks about Oaxis is definitely very lofty and he seems like he's way in over his head, but I don't think he's trying to convert anyone to Christianity through Oaxis. Lots of religions and ways of thought have different positive values quite separate from the more committing religious-based beliefs. He's talking to a Christian congregation in that video, so he's certainly going to use more religious jargon. I dunno. I guess I'm just not entirely convinced that the man has it out to convert people who use his platform.

    • @FiddleGibbons
      @FiddleGibbons 6 лет назад +7

      I mean that's a possibility, but it's also because people don't want to be forced to be religious. I'd consider myself Christian, and I wouldn't really want to be watching content that's indirectly trying to convert me to Islam. Christianity is something that's "cool" to hate nowadays which is a bit of a shame, but all that I was really trying to get across was that "Christian values" don't mean "conversion to Christianity". People hear the word "Christian" and they flip out and make all the nasty assumptions that they can come up with. What I think would be wrong with trying to convert people to Christianity through this platform would be the fact that it was not advertised as a Christian platform. You can't just surprise people with that sort of thing. Butch noted that creating and advertising a Christian entertainment platform would only attract Christians, but in through instilling Christian _values_ (not faith or religion of any sort, just values), he can reach out to all people in a positive way. Now I'm really not sure what I think about Oaxis as a whole, but this video blows the religious aspect completely out of proportion and is a prime example of someone flipping out at the mention of Christianity. Some other things may be valid or whatever, and that might be the way things are, but I'm directly speaking to the Christianity "issue".

    As a Christian myself, I see no problems with Butch creating a Christian streaming service. I think that in and of itself is a good thing. However, lying to fans and hiding the fact that it was a Christian streaming service, is underhanded and something that he should not have done. He should have just been honest about what he was making. Yes, he would have gotten flak, but I'm sure many Christians would have stood up and supported him, enough to make the difference.

    Butch knows he did something wrong. If he thought he was doing something good, he would have come right out and said “Help me fund this streaming service to spread Christian morals!” But he had to leave that out. And about the LGBTQ+ community? Forget that, he’s totally against us. Why do I say that? Well, he’s being quiet about his stance, which says to me either 1) he’s against us, but Butch “I created your childhood, no negativity, $99” Hartman doesn’t want to say it because, like I said, “no negativity :)” or 2) he has no problem with us, but is worried that his saying so will result in him losing followers. Call me picky, but I don’t consider someone too concerned with their image to stand by our side to be an ally.

    Butch trying to create a streaming to force his religious agenda on the youth would be one thing.
    But the thing that pisses me off the most is the fact that he could’ve gotten this thing off the ground without the use of crowdfunding. He probably would’ve gotten enough money for this if he talked to some big Christian organisation, but the fact he lied about his kickstarter and never told anyone what his true goals were is just disgusting.
    If Butch really is a religious man (and I doubt it) he should’ve known that ‘Deceiving’ is a sin, and like every other sin it’s not a good thing to do at all.
    Want to know who loves to deceive people? Satan.

      The most ridiculous thing of all is that you _can_ promote "Christian values" (or at least values that Christians approve of) while still being a show for general audiences. Teaching the importance of kindness, and forgiveness, and honesty, and selflessness are all things that Christians look for in the things they show their children as well as things that anyone in general can appreciate.
      And personally, I think that creating quality shows with the goal of instilling those values just because it's the right thing to do is a _much_ better and more effective testimony than just slapping God's name on your project and expecting that to automatically earn you extra brownie points with Him.

That's just one thing. To go out and lie to your viewers about what this service was gonna be is a whole new level entirely. To sit on a pedestal like this using your "I created your childhood" nonsense as your constant go-to for people to support anything that you do is quite egotistical too. He didn't do crap in creating my "puh-pwecious" childhood. All he did was make 2 TV shows that were received well and that's it. Tuff Puppy is far from spectacular and while I haven't seen Bunsen, I've heard it's very mediocre. I'm also the type of Christian who is perfectly fine with LGBTQ+ people existing, so to see all of this shady practice coming from a guy people used to love just makes celebrities look worse and really just proves that the type of world that I live in is getting less and less hopeful every single day. So Mr. Hurtman (yes I know what I said) don't go around saying that people can't criticize you because they haven't made art when you haven't made a memorable product in over a decade. The 70s, when Hartman was growing up, were full of sitcoms that attempted to push the limit. They often touched on controversies of the day. And don’t get me started on the stuff that used to make it in a PG movie.

    The depression thing really REALLY infuriates me. I am 15. I am a teenager. And that is still considered a kid. I have been super depressed. AND IT WAS NOT because I watched a scary movie. I was depressed because a tragic event happened to me and my family. My mother got cancer, and infections, and then passed away after nearly 2 years of having cancer. Butch Hartman is being disrespectful, and you are great for pointing it out, PieGuy.

He lied to everyone just to get more money for his idea, knowing full well that if his audience knew about Oaxis being a religious streaming service, the majority of them wouldn't`t support it. He either should of beeen honest about in the first place or didn`t make it about religion. I wonder how he would feel if I started a streaming service, he gave me some of his money to support it and then I revealed it was designed to teach Gnostic Christian ideas and values.

    Pieguy, I know you get a lot of comments, so there's a decent chance you won't see this, but if you do, please read to the end. There are some pressing details that I think you are missing here.
    First of all, I'd just like to say "I disliked Butch before it was cool." I've never defended him, and I'm not defending him now. I think he made a couple of decent shows back in the day and he's milked the hell out of his involvement in them to ride into a new era of internet fame with little effort compared to much harder working grassroots RUclips channels. Also, he clickbaits like crazy. That being said, your commentary in this video seems to misunderstand a few things.
    I assume this misunderstanding stems from something of a culture shock and not intentional hyperbole, but "instilling Christian values in the youth", "including the gospel in your work", and statements like that are _very_ commonly used as buzz phrases in the conservative Christian community that essentially just mean you want to promote a positive message, encourage people to be nice to each other, convince people they have worth, promote kindness, etc. Yes, it can sound very indoctrinate-y to outside parties, but as someone who has spoken the lingo, Butch is most likely just saying he wants to promote positivity and kindness when he says those things. He's not claiming he wants to brainwash kids into reading the Bible or green light _Mr. Moose Goes to Church_ as his first series. There is a prevailing belief throughout the conservative Christian community that people can and will find their way to God if they are simply surrounded by morally virtuous messages. A _lot_ of Christians believe that their best form of witnessing is to live like upstanding and exceptionally kind people, expressing those beliefs through their works. You can actually see Butch reflecting this idea himself in one of the very time codes you linked. At 2:40 Butch mentions that his shows have always had the gospel in them. No, he wasn't bluffing, and he wasn't referencing pregnant Cosmo. Butch was drawing the Christian audience's attention to his tendency to include moral messages about responsibility, being kind to others, appreciating your friends, loving people, etc., all while using a fairly kid-friendly medium. If you asked Butch, he'd likely tell you that _The Fairly OddParents!_ and _Danny Phantom_ promote Christian values. Hell, a lot of _Christians_ would probably tell you that if asked! This might sound weird to you because of a lack of familiarity with these talking points, but among Christians, what he's saying here is quite obvious. I'm not grasping. I'm not stretching. I am like 99% sure that's what he meant. And again, not trying to defend him. I'm not a fan of his. But you're misunderstanding his point. Butch isn't trying to use Oaxis to indoctrinate children into Christianity. All he did here was say "I want to make a family friendly streaming service" in Christianese. And we've known that from the beginning.
    As for the other stuff you mentioned: Yeah, 10:00 is kind of dumb. Not allowing your kids to watch a cartoon because its parent company also releases R-rated movies seems like a non-sequitur to me. The only way I could kind of see that argument working is from a stance reminiscent of "Well, if they're making R-rated horror movies, clearly they're only in it for the money and don't _really_ care about the values of your children," which is still a pretty weak stance in my opinion. 10:30 is ignorant, insensitive, and even factually inaccurate, but I don't think he was trying to "downplay science." It's more likely that he just doesn't know the science and spoke about what he honestly thinks is one of the contributing factors to it. It's still dumb, but I'd say he's more ignorant than malicious there. (Also, that's not why The Great Depression was called The Great Depression; there is more than one definition for that word). No arguments about 11:45. Butch shouldn't be tossing the word "humbled" around while riding his decade old cartoon success to RUclips fame and stream management. Your 13:45 complaint is again contingent upon misunderstanding his Christian jargon. He out and out tells you at this time stamp that he _doesn't want to do what you're afraid he's doing._ Yes, he plans on including "parables" in his work, but _again,_ if you asked him, he probably considers _Channel Chasers_ and _The Ultimate Enemy_ "parables." He _is_ intentionally trying to get non-Christians to watch his shows, but I don't really see any indication here that he's doing it because he wants to indoctrinate them. He's explaining to the Christian audience that he wants to spread these positive, virtuous messages beyond the church walls and will therefore refrain from making them overtly Christian. This isn't dangerous. The statement is supposed to get the Christian audience on his side because they tend to believe the world needs more positive, uplifting, moral messages. It's not a reassurance to them that he'll flash subliminal messages about prayer throughout each program.
    Butch's streaming service is crap because it's crap. He didn't plan it out properly. There's little evidence he has the funds to complete it. No content or artists are attached to it except for Butch. The chances it can compete against RUclips, Netflix, Hulu, etc are nil. The laser focus on family friendly content limits his options for product. And it's all riding on Butch's massive ego, his overrated reputation, and his involvement in two good shows that eventually rotted into shambling corpses of their original brilliance. There is no evidence, however, that it is an undercover attempt to indoctrinate children into Christianity. Those aspects of your criticism are misinterpretations of Christian jargon, which ironically, Butch tried to clarify twice in the video you linked. It's still a bad idea. It still _could_ be a scam. But I think you're jumping the gun a little too quick on the whole "Christian conspiracy" angle. If you read this thing all the way to the end, thank you. Please try watching through TRAFON's video again with this context in mind and consider reevaluating your opinion. Contact some conservative Christians to verify my claims if you like. I have confidence they'll back up what I've said. You're on the right track, but you're waiting at the wrong station.
    P.S. How churches handle LGBTQ+ issues varies from place to place. A lot of them are very accepting of the community. I have no idea if Butch is or not.

      I appreciate that you took the time to make this comment, but I just wanted to say one thing:
      You don’t think that when suicide is brought up in the dramatic, theatric, and almost romanticized way it is on 13 Reasons Why and on Social Media, it has an influence on a child/teen? That’s what Butch was talking about when he brought up suicide in the “speech” he made.
      (Also, I agree, PieGuy’s usage of “The Great Depression” made me facepalm WAY too hard)

      yes I agree with you, to me it doesn't seem to try to be like chick tracks (which are hilariously bad) where they are trying to indoctrinate children that Jesus is lord and all others are heathens, and this thing really does just seem like its a poorly thought out plan, but to me it doesn't seem to be malicious, like there's a cabal of hooded Christians being like, yes, now we have a crappy streaming service that probably won't happen anyways

    • @tshroob2467
      @tshroob2467 6 лет назад +6

      @Dank Underwood, Thanks for thanking me for commenting. ;) Unfortunately, I don't think Pieguy read my post, otherwise we'd likely have heard something from him about this, but I can at least say I tried. Misunderstandings sure are scary.
      And as to address your point, I _do_ think there is evidence that many of Hollywood's attempts to highlight suicide via productions like _13 Reasons Why_ result in momentary suicide spikes (which is certainly problematic), and there _is_ something worrying about the fact that the average child will see upwards of 8,000 murders on TV before graduating Elementary school, but ultimately I don't think there is a lot of good data supporting the idea that violent and/or scary television is a major contributing factor to the epidemic. I'm open to statistics proving me wrong, but as far as I am aware, Pieguy is correct. Children are more likely to be influenced by things like their social lives, their family, the various societal stresses they're put through, and actual disorders. Some cases of depression are literally caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain that the child and those around him/her have little to no control over. I'm not suggesting that you can't find a fringe case here or there where a kid committed suicide because they saw a horror movie or something, but those are the exception, not the rule. And Hollywood romanticizing suicide _does_ appear to cause suicide spikes, but in most cases, the people who commit suicide in response to this romanticization were already _depressed_ beforehand. The romanticization just convinced them to go through with it. Is that still a problem? Definitely. But there's just no evidence that the romanization causes depression. And there's _even less_ evidence that generally violent or scary television being watched by underage children causes depression _or suicide!_ In fact, this is _so_ off base that Butch is also patently incorrect in asserting that suicide is a big problem with _this_ generation in particular and not equally reflected by his own generation. It's true that we have seen a marginal increase in the number of suicides over the past ten years, but the current numbers are almost _perfectly_ equal with the percentage of suicides that occurred in the 1970's (Butch's childhood) and the 1950's (Butch's father's childhood). In fact, 2015 (a horrible, horrible year for suicide) was the first time in 45 years that suicide rates in America had been equal to or greater than the rates associated with Butch's childhood. But that aside, the most the rate has fluctuated _at all_ in the last 50 years is by 3 measly percentage points! If an increase in children's accessibility to violent and/or scary content has _truly_ occurred in the last 50 years and violent and/or scary content is _truly_ a major factor in child suicide, then you would expect a larger variance, and you certainly wouldn't expect 2018's suicide rates to be less than half a percent off from 1950's and 1970's suicide rates.

    You know, the LGBT people part reminded me of Mr. Enter's Animated Atrocities on the Fairly Odd Parents Valentine's special, Love Struck, in which one of Enter's complaints regarded the scene where Cupid complains about the world being out of Valentine's love, after Timmy splits up the two genders. Enter's complaint was: "So not only is everyone of each specific gender EXACTLY the same, THEY'RE ALL STRAIGHT! Shows how closed-minded you really are." At the time, I argued with Mr. Enter, saying that this is a kids' show, and they probably didn't want to arouse controversy, hinting at homosexual themes. But now, I agree wholeheartedly with Mr. Enter about that. Not to mention other kids' shows, like The Loud House, have explored homosexual themes.
