Fun fact: The actor who plays as Pyramid Head is actually a ballet dancer. So just imagine him doing ballet lol-
YES
Silent hill: On ice
Funner fact: (you probably already knew this but for everyone else who dont )the actor who played pyramid head was in charge of all the movements of the monsters. He instructed them how to get the movements correct and he purposefully hired dancers because they know how to move their body in horrifying ways.
Also he wasn't wearing pants while playing as pyramid head. He was bare assed
him bare assed is just a Rule 34 art in waiting
@@minxkitcatty0519 like it hasn't been rule 34ed already
The main actress switched clothing throughout the film. While it was the same outfit, she wore slightly darker and darker colors, so you couldn't tell that the clothes slowly changed colour. At the beginning, she wears white clothing, and by the end, she is wearing red clothing.

Honestly, Silent Hill was one of the BEST movies to come out of 2006. Even though it's loosely tied to the game, I still really loved it. I still love it 14 years later. It's one of my favorite movies of all time.
Another good horror movie from 2006 is descent
@@ultimatepotato192 wait. isn't descent from 2005?
Loosely ? Resident evil is what I call loosely. Silent hill followed its original at the same time manage to keep its horror movie. Not much horror...wait no, not much GAME movie manage to do it like this.
@@Forever18or21 yeah resident evil could of been better. I think they had dicey legal issues of half life and tomb raider to deal with.

pretty sure officer Gucci was murdered in the game, too. I remember a journal that Harry finds implying that he was murdered bc of what we know of the town at that point in the game, Silent Hill's a trip

I concur. I didn't understand that movie at all
" in my restless dreams I see that town
Silent Hill. you promised you'd take me there someday. but you never did well I'm alone there now waiting for you."
one of my all time favorite movies and games series it's the kind of horror trilogy that stands apart from others a town surround by darkness. it's a peaceful town. the original town name was lost in the veils of time.
but there is a documentary which explains the history of how it was like all before the darkness surrounded the entire town itself.
James : " this town is full of monsters how can you sit there and eat pizza?"
Eddie : " she said she was fine by herself she said a fatso like me would just slow her down."
James : " forget you."
here is a death battle I wanna see Pyramid Head versus Voorhees just wanna know how it can turn out and because the action of characters fighting each other.
guests visiting can stay at the Lake View hotel it's quiet relaxing and like the Overlook Hotel guests will stay forever and ever and ever and ever.
Pan’s Labyrinth!!
Pans Labyrinth
I used to theorize that the being who came to Alyssa in her time of anger and suffering was none other than the devil himself. When you have an entire town of souls due to you for their horrendous actions against the innocent, I'd call granting demonic powers to a suffering little girl to exact revenge quite a bargain. It does add an interesting dynamic to the entity behind all this, whether it be the devil or otherwise, it is evil, but it is not without compassion, acknowledging that Alyssa has already endured great suffering at the hands of those awaiting judgement. Without demanding anything in return, it gives her a gift that allows her to seek vengeance and eventually peace.

Fun fact about the movie: Christoph Ganz, the director, was forced to add the scenes with Sean Bean that are interspersed throughout the main story. According to him, he showed his final cut to the producers and they rejected it, saying "There's no men! There has to be men in it!" so he was forced to shoot and add the extra scenes with Sean. Once the obligatory amount of "brown-haired white guy with stubble" was present, the producers approved it for release.
Seriously though, if you watch the film again and skip all of the bits in "real-world" Silent Hill with Sean, you get a much better idea of what Ganz was attempting to achieve. And at least Sean Bean finally got to act in something where he doesn't die at the end!
Personally, this is one of my favorite horror adaptations. You can tell that Ganz had played and loved the games, but even if you know nothing about the franchise, it's a compelling and atmospheric tale all on its own.

This movie was filmed in my hometown of Brantford, and we would always make jokes that all they needed to do was just add the fog effect, because they changed very little else.
The scene were the cop burns to death is an old abandoned mall, just across from the public library, she was hung up on a harness in what was once an elevator shaft.
The church everyone was running into was the church my mom and dad were married in, and the school Rose walked into for a short scene was the top floor of my high school.
Cool!!!
Great video, dude! I love both of the Silent Hill movies, and I've played some of the games! (mostly the 3rd game) Awesome how you gave an in-depth explanation of the movie! :)
When the officer died, I was literally sad and horrified. She was such an amazing officer for buying Rose time and then trying to help her. She didn't deserved that brutality.

I love the scene in this where Rose runs past Chris in the shadow world. It's just beautifully shot.
What time was that at?
Giauna Abbruzzese about an hour in when Chris and the detective go to Silent Hill in the real world. They run past each other in different dimensions and he feels her presence
That really was great. One of the truly shining moments in the movie
Fun fact: The devs thought the wall peeling effect when changing to the otherworld was so cool that they started adding it as the same effect in the Silent Hill games.
I always thought it was the other way around. That's a testament to just how good of a movie this is apart from being an adaption.

I was 5 when I watched it for the first time with my dad. I've never had any problems with my seeing the movie but I can't help but wonder if Silent Hill has a place in all of us. As far as it being a living hell. After all doesn't everyone have their own version of what they think hell is? In our own way I think we all have a version of Silent Hill within us l.
I love what they did with the concept of Collin, you'll notice the black and orange veins that spread from him as he moves, this is meant to symbolize his corruption of the innocent as he corrupts everything around him as he did Alisa.
What's amazing is the nurses were played by ACTUAL contortionists, those moments are all real.

second movie was a bit meh, but I agree, first movie was pretty spot on, most complaints are just people thinking they explained too much, but if your an info freak like me who needs things explained and refuses to leave things as a ''mystery'' i enjoyed this movie
I'm glad they did give a little more of an explanation why the town of Silent Hill was 'haunted' the way it was, even though the mystery of it made it just as creepy (like not knowing why it is the way it is other then its just an evil place). Either way, it's still very enjoyable :)

Lee Lee same
Yea I agree
My first understanding of the ending was also that Alessa wanted a mother, to be only hers. Theorizing a bit more, I came to believe they are all dead, pretty much from the beginning. In this movie, Silent Hill is a place for the damned, the dead and doomed. The cult fanatics died in the fire they started to burn Alessa, as Rose said, and are there "surviving" while waiting for Alessa's revenge. Rose crashed the car and passed out. Cybil also crashed, her bike thrown on the ground and her head was bleeding. I know this would maybe go against the games' lore, but I think it was an adaptation made to be more "horror movie" friendly, just like they replaced the game's cult with witch hunters, that we are more used to seeing. Creating the possibility that they are dead is easier to explain than the complexity of the games' lore (which the second movie tried to do and we know it didn't go great). I love the adaptation, it's really one of my favorite movies. Watched it when I was 10 and got terrified, only to then discover the games and become a fan of the franchise.
That’s also what I think
Also I like how they tease the idea of the devil. Could be the real devil or could be the devil that Alessa created out of hate and thirst for revenge.
@@Cucerescmunti Yes, I love it when Christabella says Alessa was a sinner, and Rose says that no, she's the one who sinned, darkening the heart of an innocent.
Maybe, maybe not. In the sequel they had Rose communicate with her husband at home through a mirror and handed him an amulet and Alessa materialized back in the room. At the end of the film he also transported into the other world, he went into the fog and when the fog receded he was no longer there.
That was my line of thinking. I wanted to see what others thought though because like you said, Cybil had a nasty crash on her bike that I wouldn't think would leave just a slightly bloody head given the damage and Rose hit her head but apparently wasn't in the vehicle since the cops said it was empty in the movie. I had just thought they were dead since everyone else in the movie was and had been for 30 years
Man, I remember when I saw this movie that it really bothered me seeing Cybil die.. and in that horrible way.
For me, Silent Hill is the best movie game adaptation so far. Awesome review!
Silent hill was the best video game movie to date. Nothing comes close.
Sure it's the best adaption. But it sucks.. Why did they feel the need to change absolutely EVERYTHING and make it a feminist propaganda movie, that's not even scary and completely and utterly missed the entire point and premise of the game?

15:07 Disagree; the dark Alyssa as you name her said herself in the movie that she has "many names", which leads me to think that she's supposed to be either the devil or another infernal high ranked spirit.
or she could be MORGANA!!!! jwk lol hahahhah
I was of the same opinion, but right after that she said: "But for now, I am Alyssas dark side." So the other possibility is that the many names are the shadow, the evil in us. I guess they wanted that question to be open
Morino Ravenberg it can be witch or a demon or a trash or a dark version of alyssa
In the behind the scenes look at the film on the DVD, the director was afraid of Jodell playing such a dark role, and she said, "no. I've always wanted to play the devil." I'm with you. I think that is what she is.
I always was under the impression that she's supposed to be the Devil, helping Alyssa - Fueled by negative emotions: Vengefulness, hate, anger, disgust etc. I, for one, think it's pretty evident that Dark Alyssa is the Devil: I mean: "That's when I came...." literally tells how she approached Alyssa and promised her revenge. A pretty believable act of the Devil. She also uses dark, twisted magic, loves bloodshed and misery. Come on. The other world is also know as "hell".
Also, "I have many names" is literally a reference to the Devil, since he goes under many, many names: Lucifer, Diablo, The Devil, The anti-christ, the fallen one, prime evil, unholiness, Satan, Beelzebub, Mephistopheles, etc etc.
Only problem I have with any other explaination is also this: How do you explain Silent Hill and the supernatural elements, if she is not the Devil? I mean, I don't know about where you guys are from, but where I come from, ghost towns, that move you to other dimensions, isn't exactly an every day occurance. Alyssa literally being the Devil explains everything: Putting Silent Hill, in it's entirety, into another dimension: Hell. A form of eternal torment for its inhabitents, as payment for their sins (Witch burnings etc). It explains all the creepy monsters, the dark magic, the transformation of Silent Hill, everything. Saying something like "She's just a manifestation of Hate" - What does that even mean? If you get really pissed you, you can create places like silent hill, too? If so, remind me not to piss you off, lol.
Obviously I don't believe in the Devil myself, but that's beside the point. The point is that this explains everything within the context of the story and the universe. Further more, it gives depth to the character of the Devil in this universe. She isn't just "evil" - She is actually a bringer of justice - A fighter for the unjust. And I kind of like that. Granted, it's in a very twisted, dark and cruel way, but still - It makes the character of the sterotypical Devil a lot more interesting.

No question. Loved silent hill though one of my favorite horror movies and the best video game movie ever.
I still say its among the most underrated of movies. I mean seriously, what I LOVE about the movie is parallel to the games, where its not entirely a happy ending but they all trade for what's important, civil with her life to save Rose in order to save Sharen, Rose sacrificing her body for Sharen and Alessa trading with Rose safe passage to enact her judgement AND I love the fact she never attacks her mother, knowing very well after all these years, no matter her mistakes, she was her mother and knew she loved her. It was all amazing for me and was a brilliant act of displaying empowerment, what parents do for their children and the ripple effects of generations (sins of the father as it were).
Fun fact about the movie: Christoph Ganz, the director, was forced to add the scenes with Sean Bean that are interspersed throughout the main story. According to him, he showed his final cut to the producers and they rejected it, saying "There's no men! There has to be men in it!" so he was forced to shoot and add the extra scenes with Sean. ironic that they said it needs men in it when the original games story had a man as the main character i don't see why they had to change it what's wrong with a dad looking for his daughter and as for making Dahlia good that pissed me off she's the reason alessa goes through all the suffering
this is the film about motherly love. which is understandably stronger and, frankly, more poetic. however, a lot of people can't comprehend that.

Fatherly love is no weaker or less poetic than motherly love. I was glad that Christoph Ganz recognized that the Silent Hill story (an average parent going through Hell for the sake of their child) was traditionally a mother's story, but that made it all the more disappointing when the genders were swapped.
Harry Mason's quest in the original game is a beautiful illustration of how a father's love and devotion is just as strong as a mother's, especially in cultures that devalue fatherly love by saying motherly love is "understandably stronger and, frankly, more poetic" when there is no evidence for that in reality.
Motherly love and fatherly love are very different, and motherly love is clearly stronger. Male humans don't give birth, and this tiny thing creates a bond, which is as chemical, as it is psychological. I don't agree with you, and life actually proves my point. The whole world is based on the fact that women raise their children, plus there are very few cases of mothers abandoning their child, while fathers abandoning their children are pretty much a routine.
Of course, fatherly love is not non-existent, but one should give credit where credit's due.
The hypocrisy in slonmish's statement is mind-numbing...

Those nurses were like the most terrifying things to me when I was younger.🤣
Silent Hill is one of the very few "scary" movies that actually had my heart racing. It remains one of my favorites.

I chose to write my thesis paper on this movie and game series for my horror film study class, I had played the games so much as a kid and the movie always stuck with me more than any other. I wrote about the topic of purgatory and even tied in Dante's Inferno and actually freaked out my professor with how detailed I wrote everything. He asked me if I was ok mentally because I understood the underlying message way too well. I explained I'm a huge horror movie fan because that's how I bonded with my grandfather. We still carry on the tradition of spending everyday of October watching horror movies.
Just curious did you get your grade ?

Movie was fucking amazing. The best video game turned movie movie ever made so far.
Dont bother with revelations because that movie sucked so hard we should all band together and wish it out off existence.
Actually if you ignore almost everything about the film and watch the well and PH fight that was the highlight of the film.
You must not of seen Super Mario Bros. By far the best video game movie ever made.
