I think my favorite thing about this song is that it's not about death or what happens to your body after you die--- it's about the feeling of what people would do to you. The terror. The panic. The fear. About how even when you're dead, you need to be rotted to truly free of the eyes that want to ruin you.

Ancient Egyptian mummies discovered show women in much worse states of decay for this very reason.
Families would wait until their women family members had started to rot a little before taking them to the priests to prepare for the burial, to try and stop any of the male priests who would be left alone with the bodies and prepare them from assaulting and defiling them in death.

**After Monroe’s death in 1962, her ex-husband Joe DiMaggio held a private funeral for her at Westwood Village. Playboy founder Hefner later arranged to be laid to rest in a crypt next to the actor. “Spending an eternity next to Marilyn is too sweet to pass up,” he told the Los Angeles Times in 2009. The paper reported that Hefner, who died in 2017, had spent $75,000 to secure his spot in 1992.**

@HaleyJo1992 funny how when these sort of things arise, people insist on spreading, to put it charitably, misremembered, incorrect gossip. They don't seem to care about smearing reputations, albeit of the dead.
Joe DiMaggio owned the two crypts in question and apparently handled the funeral of his ex-wife.
At some stage, he sold the upper crypt to a businessman, who was buried there in 1986, according to the story.
That man's widow reportedly sold the crypt in 2009 for $4.6million dollars and would have had to move his remains.
So, if we want to talk about disrespect for spouses, or profiting from Marilyn, let's start with that lady. Let's go on to the widow of Marilyn's heir, Lee Strasberg, who after his death, commercially monetised Marilyn's image.
As for the late Mr DiMaggio, there is nothing to say other than he loved his ex-wife.

The silence after, shows the realisation we all have, that it’s fucked, and we should be free, but the reality is that we are still living here. So we would rather be in the forest with a bear rather than a man.

They may seem innocent but their accumulations in the subconscious can be dangerous

About the tattoo line, I think it has a double meaning. The obvious one is that a tattoo uglifies, but another might that it is a mark of independence . Stealing a woman's honor and dignity even after her death can be seen as a way of possessing her, but if there is a tattoo, it can be a symbol that she already owns her body and can do whatever she wants with it. One of the tragedies of living under the patriarchy is understanding that women don't own anything, not even their own flesh.

I can't even begin to explain how much I love every song she puts out! and how much it speaks to me in a soul level. How much it has helped me push through my life and continues to do so. Paris Paloma, please never stop writting songs. This is what true talent and soul calling/gift looks like.

My father is suffering parkinson's disease. He tried to killed himself last week.He survived but he want to die The part of the song reminds me of him
"I'll take the flame over desecration
Promise you'll make all these arrangements
Don't you dare think it's overkill
I wouldn't wish the watching on anybody"
So if for that reason only
    Swear to me you will

There's a line in the song that reminds me a lot of cleopatra and what is speculated that she had said before she died. No man will ever find my tomb. I wish we could all could never be found after death

I can’t explain how this song makes me feel but one thing is for sure; I felt it and it’s a true masterpiece. The meaning behind it? The lyrics? The music video? The rhythm? Everything is in perfection.

I can always count on Paris Paloma to write about topics so distinct and specifi. This song is so dark and subtly disturbing- it's brilliant. "don't you dare say it's overkill" because we're always told we're exaggerating what we know is the reality.

I rarely cry to a song, but I don't even know how this moved me to tears so easily.
I always thought there would be only few women who would also fear what's coming to us even after death.
