Yeah.. I'm still haunted by the one time I didn't physically step in to help a girl who was assaulted at the train station. I wanted to do something so bad but the last time I did step in to help I couldn't help her get away and instead we both got assaulted. This time I just called the police but I have no idea is they got there on time or even came at all. I was so terrified, so I didn't have the courage to risk getting assaulted again.
So did the line "you think you'd be a savior but you can't do what you preach". We all say we'd do the right thing if we saw it happen in front of us, but we don't. We're too afraid.
That hits close to home for me too. When a man took away the one purpose in life, a "friend" I'd have protected didn't even want to take photos with me- for exactly this reason. It was obvious. But she didn't hesitate to use me for free housing in NYC.
@@WobblesandBean true it's rather easy to believe we'll always step in to help people when watching from an outside perspective, but when such a scenario happens to you, there are very few who actually dare
The mother shushing the little girl when she first reached forward to defend Eve destroyed me. How many of us have been silenced (metaphorically and literally) by the women who raised us? Whatever the motivation, it’s heartbreaking.
@@ByvenicMy bio-mother congratulated me for finally losing my v card when I was drugged and raped. Ya'll with good mom's make me cry sometimes and laugh other times.😅🥲
I'm honestly glad my mother didn't try to quiet me as a kid and as I spoke about things I actually lead her to see things in a different way too (not that she was at all conservative to begin with) like she once came home from work and ranted about how she never used to notice things people saying "he or she" instead of "they" and now she can't unhear it and finds it frustrating because I once mentioned that it was dumb and literally takes a third of the time to say "they" instead My mother and I still have a great relationship unlike my father who leant more into the "shut up and respect my authority" mentality hence why my headstrong "I'll respect your authority only when you prove you're worthy of it" self hasn't gotten on with him since I was probably 2 perhaps even younger
I know my mom loved me very deeply, but she did not protect me. She was being abused too, I could not protect her but I tried, until I peed blood from getting kicked in the kidneys so long. We both gave up on each other. This song makes me miss her, and cry over so many things. How I allowed men to abuse me over and over thinking I "provoked" them. It wasn't until I had my daughter that I snapped. He'd hurt me but the moment he hurt her, all the rage helped me run, hide, dial 911. We had to be lifted out the bathroom window by a ladder to be saved. Took me 3 tries to get away & safe. He crippled me to ensure he could just take me again & again. A judge gave him unsupervised visitation at age 3-1/2 & she came back violated. I studied law & fought him in court for over 12 years until finally the courtroom was full of my witnesses and the judge was forced to follow the law. Songs like this help me express what I suppressed all those years. The difference between me & my mom is, I somehow felt a power surge through me, GET AWAY GET YOUR HANDS OFF MY DAUGHTER, maybe the Goddess? Eve? Lilith? and I fought with my whole life to protect her. Raised a woman who doesn't apologize for her own feelings, says "no" and walks away, believes she has every right to walk where she walks. Yet still some have tried to hurt her. I thought as time passed the abusers would be shunned & shamed. Nope. They're emboldened now more than ever. Because here in the US we elected a rapist, a victimizer, the boys think he's cool, alpha. Thus as I enter my crone phase, feminine rage songs help me more than any therapy ever did. Embrace your rage and use it as fuel to make yourself better, to build a good life. Men with yin energy, who are our allies, must be treasured & encouraged. Women please raise your sons to be HUMAN first, and forget the "manly" stereotypes. We can all share our power together and it starts with parents.
It did not click on me until now that the line "She stood and walked herself right out of the door. A path she'd walked so many many times before" was a reference of how she was kicked out of Eden but also on how many other groups, mostly religious, see her as a villain rather than the victim she was. Tricked for the first time and it cost her everything and had to pay it by working every single day of her life until she kicked the bucket at 930. Heck there are versions of the myth where Eve was sentenced to Hell while Adam ascended to the Heavens even if both ate the apple at the end of the day
I'm pretty sure biblically no on got in heaven until Jesus died, opened the doors of the underworld and took back upstairs the souls that followed him, which I personally found pretty fucking unfair cause tf did the rest of the people do bro
@@storm861 Sharing the blood of Eve for being her descendants but yeah really unfair and fucked to have the mentality that everyone's born sinfull and they deserve to go to Hell for it unless you waste your life basically slaving away to what a book and extremely religious people dictate

Lillith was the first women created and was cast out of Edan for standing up for herself then Eve was created from Adam's rib to serve him so if and I do mean if Eve ate the apple first it was because she was ordered to by Adam, and this is why men have an Adams apple.

I like that it’s not Lydia saving the woman but that little girl… it’s just cool because most say they’d do something and like to think they would but realistically a lot would probably be to scared to help.
And if you think about it a little girl would be braver than the other cause she haven’t been taught the cruel reality like they others have, she is still ‘naive’ in their eyes but is actually right and is speaking out rather than being silents
I have a theory that Eve's expression at the end is not necessarily a 'happening again to her many times' but more of a representation of the continuation of women being treated and punished so harshly - that it never ended, it was a cycle.
What I find really interesting is that the lyrics are not especially hopeful in the end, but the animation is. Up to us to decide which one we want to follow ...
yes! i like that they saved her, but i feel like even the animation isn’t really hopeful at the end. as most people have said, Eve doesn’t look happy, she just looks tired. someone noted that that’s probably because this has happened many many times before, & i think that adds up with the “…as mother dies, and dies, and dies, and dies, and dies…” so it’s technically a good ending, but it’s also not really happy. idk i think it fits
@@fruitypanpie I interpreted it as the ones that freed her did risk taking her place, and probably did. And she is sad in the end because they are not the first people to speak up and save her. I think she knows that the cycle will repeat and the ones who stood up for her will be punished too. How often do a few people stand up to a mob and come out ok? How often does stepping out of line actually work? And yet, they felt they needed to try; because maybe one day enough people will follow.
There is an apology posted about this video for not including backing vocals and help with production by other ethnicities, and I would like to say specifically to Lydia as an African American woman that this is perfect. Sure, the team COULD have had other ethnicities, but it’s not about how it was made, it’s about why. Noting that she also did not fail to include the other ethnic groups in the animatic, but the vocal team was what she was able to do. I feel that a lot more people should appreciate the message of this masterpiece rather than criticize what wasn’t done. This song will definitely be one for the books, please keep up the good work Lydia! Looking forward to see more like this! From a woman who is fully aware of what we came from, this song will definitely be a staple for a lot of women to come. This is the lord’s work, and you delivered a message with more meaning than the word count to the lyrics 🩵
Yeah imo if you have representation in an animated format in the animation that’s really what matters, and she didn’t do it intentionally so it’s perfectly fine. Seriously the amount of different women here of not just different races but religions, disabilities, ages, she thought of almost every women which exists, that’s amazing.
The Medusa part killed me... Hers was always one of my favorite stories because of how much she took. From a woman unable to fight back into a woman who no man could touch, a victor and no longer a victim
I am sorry to inform you That This is Not the Version That was told by the greek. This version was writen by a Roman Guy named Ovid who hated authorities and the greeks. In the original Myth Medusa was Born a Monster and Had a completly concensual Thing with Poseidon.
@@kowo1610 Yes but i believe even in that version she was born a mortal, not like her immortal sisters Stheno and Euryale? But im quite sure it wasn't consensual in any form of the myth. If i am wrong can u pls tell me the original form of the myth cause I am still very curious to know!.
@@deepajyothis from Hesiods Theogony. With her lay the Dark-haired One (Poseidon) in a soft meadow amid spring flowers." Nothing in Hesiod's version says it was non-consensual. It also does not say consensual, but I interpret not mentioning it as consensual.
Anne Boleyn, Jean/Jeanne D'Arc (I've seen it spelled both ways), Harriet Tubman...I think the nun might've been Mother Theresa or Florence Nightingale? Those were just the ones I recognized, though.
Also both were made by a man, and deceived by them (Eve by snake/devil and Pandora was set up for failure with the box by Zeus, because he likes to torment people...)
I wonder if men twist any myths of Pandora. Like people keep blaming Eve, but when Eve alone ate the fruit nothing happened, but when Adam ate it bad things did happen. The Bible said it was Adam and Adam alone who brought sin into the world. This is why they didn’t want women to read. As patriarchal the original writers were, even they didn’t blame women for bringing in sin.
@ Even crazier; a lot of Pandora myths specify she wasn’t a human, but a being created by the gods specifically to open that box! The story seems to indicate that humans should be wary of those in power tilting the narrative to blame humans or women for their own suffering, but that wasn’t the takeaway.
“Villainize victims, slaves to the system” hits so hard. Especially since women can be villainised for being a victim which is not right at all and how women can be slaves to a system that doesn’t favour them. This song is amazing and the animatic is gorgeous!
I literally just finished writing an essay on the female literary archetypes throughout history… she’s so often only ever a pure virgin or a mother- if not she’s a “temptress, siren, witch” Edit: sorry to everyone saying they want to read it- it was hand written (to help prevent again students using AI apparently 🙄) and I’m not about to transcribe it lmao
This song tells the truth in every sense of the word. No matter what women do, we're forever scorned. Damned if we do, damned if we don't. The part where the song says " so you'll take the fall for standing just an inch to tall" hit me so hard because metaphorically I feel I try my best not to also literally I am tall compared to all the boys
oh my god i know. i noticed a lot of the women in that scene were historical figures. Joan of Arc, i think Malala, i’m pretty sure Harriet Tubman might’ve been there? maybe that woman could’ve been ‘Pocahontas’?
"I'd help but I risk taking your place" is honestly one of my favourite lines, it's such a real concern for many. If anyone dares help the women outcasted by society, they're judged by association and fall to the level of those they wanted to help. It's honeslt a cruel system, you can't help those who need it most for risk of joining them.
This is now my favorite song. It so beautifully and accurately depicts how women are scorn for everything we do no matter what that thing is we do. And not just people tearing us down but other women too.
I like that in the end, even though she is "saved" by some of her daughters, Eve is still heartbroken by the betrayal of the others and the fact that she knows that history repeat itself T-T thank you for such a beautiful song
As a man and someone who tries to stay clear of probably too many things for fear of doing something wrong, it’s tragic to hear this song and read so many comments of women relating to this song and feeling put down by the world. I love the artistry of the song and I hope that the slow change of the world speeds up a bit to give everyone a better life.
what helps is reading/listening to stories as much as you can (in fancy terms "educating yourself"). One day you might realize "hey, I can cite like 10 sources which prove this person's wrong!" And boom, suddenly you know things. Also it keeps you actively engaging with the problems without forcing you to do things you're uncomfortable with (like speaking in public) but you can work towards that kinda stuff if you want to.
@dandelion_16 What? What dors that have to do with anything. Help what? Last I checked, no one else here needed to cite sources about their personal experiences. It doesn't feel like it's women's experiences being invalidated here.
@@gurun8071 The song doesn't invalidate men's experiences. It focuses on women's experiences. You can write a song about men's experiences. Do you dispute the information provided in the song?
@@gurun8071 love this. Humanity as a whole is a mix of sensitivity, strength, empathy, cruelty, and kindness. We all fall on a spectrum, almost irreverently of gender a lot of the time. We need the stories of men who, too, don't fit the binary. Boys don't cry is a genuine sentiment.
As a native american woman, this hits me hard. We are constantly being silenced despite our voices screaming loud and hard for justice for the missing and exploited indigenous women. It makes me wonder if the government is truly still trying to find ways to make us disappear for good.
It's not just your people and your government, but similar things are happening in different parts of the world. A lot of people are being either replaced or wiped out.. they're trying to change history, erase it and make the new generation believe different things. A lot of old people died during covid because they wanted to wipe out the very people that still remember history as it was.
I'm a man, and yet, I am a very staunch believer of the truth that women deserve better. They always get mocked for being themselves, enjoying things that are seen as "feminine" and "girlish", and if they don't like those things, they're still mocked for "thinking they're boys" and "needing to know their place". And don't get me started on women who fall outside of the gender binary... Women. Deserve. Better. Everyone deserves better. We need to stop fighting among ourselves, and realize that our seeing each other without any nuance and empathy is just keeping the patriarchy strong. Consider me a man who'll gladly listen to women, no matter what background, culture, race, gender identity, etc, etc, is, and treat them as PEOPLE, rather than as LESSERS. ...Yeah, I definitely cried during this, can't you tell? :')
Yeah, this song give so thought for minds. It's not just a song about women hurt by men, but by other womans too, who belives in too harsh judgement, and who are judgemental. I was taking part in religious classes at school; and I never uderstood why Eve was considered the symbol of women begin evil or dumn, for disobeing God, siece she was no even able to talk to him like Adam. Was Eve even conscious begin? If she was a clone of Adam (made from rib) then probably not, but in chrisitans wersion she was. And men and women where made as equals. I also believe that all humans are equals and important.
True empathy should not be exclusive to one gender. We could all learn from each other instead of bickering amongst ourselves most of the time. In this instance I empathize with the women who suffered throughout history and continues to in this day, especially in third world countries where this is common. I only hope the same empathy can be extended to men when they also do, not discounting the suffering women have gone thru. Peace.
This really is what everyone needs to hear. No matted the gender, race, identities(gender or attraction), religion, ect, we all deserve to be treated like our own individual stars who shine in good but some still fall to corruption and decide to hate and shame others for being themselves. However, this is our punishment. As we all know, Adam and Eve were kicked out of Eden for eating the apple, for going against God and that punishment is still pushed on us too. We are punished for the actions of our predecessors, whether Adam and Eve or your ancestors who came from your family, just like the districts from The Hunger Games. Life is The Hunger Games, we are put through struggles like starvation, favoritism, poverty, judgment, suffering, pain, and all major struggles because of what they did. We all wouldn't be here without sin becoming a thing, we are born from sin and imperfection molded together into humans who are complex creatures. None of us would have ever seen the light of day as our past defines us in a sense because what even our parents did before you were born will affect you. An example of this is, my friend is constantly being treated like a horrid individual because of his mother and who she was. No matter, what the cycle continues. We have tried over and over to stop it but the cycle will continue because no one is perfect, maybe things can change but all of this will one day never even matter. The cycle of hatred and shaming society has had will keep up if we don't all try to see each other not just as humans but special and unique individuals who at the end of the day will always be our family by blood or not. Everyone deserves the right to change for the better and to be treated with kindness but some people still won't change and that is honestly their lost. Those who want to change, keep trying. It will be worth it for yourself, even if not everyone can see it you can always become better. People can't control you, you can control yourself. So, work on being the best you can be!!❤
This is so interesting to me, because at a Catholic retreat, I actually heard it taught that Eve helped save mankind during the fall because she took more responsibility than Adam (Adam blamed Eve and blamed God a bit too by saying “it was the woman you gave me,” but Eve gave him more straightforward retelling of the events by saying “the serpent told me to eat it, so I did”). But I was told that her taking more of the responsibility had made God more merciful which seems the opposite of what others have learned.
Similarly, here is Anglican. I learned Eve and Adam actually shared different types of guilt. Because God told Adam instead of Eve not eat that fruit, so Eve against God due to failed theological thinking, Adam against God due to directly disobedience. Moreover, it is interesting that Eve was made to be helper, so she might accept the fruit because of a heart to help, so that she share the fruit with Adam who she wanna help.
@@hunterinsane9213 A few years ago I heard a sermon taught by a pastor I can't remember the name of now, that suggested the whole reason Eve was decieved by the serpent is because Adam straight up lied to her. He agreed that God had told Adam about the fruit but not Eve, and noticed that Eve did seem to know about the rules which would have meant that Adam had told her what God said. How ever he also noticed that the Serpent asked Eve (paraphrasing a little) "Didn't God say not to eat of the fruit, or touch it, or you will die?" The important bit is the "or touch it" which isn't what God said at all. The Bible clearly says that God told Adam not to eat the fruit, there's nothing about touching it. Weirdly enough Eve seems to agree with the Serpent's version of what God said, and she doesn't correct him. It is revealed soon after that Adam is with Eve when she takes the fruit, and probably was there through the whole conversation. Assuming that is true, shouldn't the guy that heard the rules directly from God know that what the Serpent said was half incorrect? And yet he said nothing. The pastor giving the sermon thought that Adam didn't speak up because he had lied to Eve. Adam added the "don't touch" part of the rule when he relayed what God had said to her. He didn't jump in and correct the Serpent in front of Eve because he would have had to admit to lying, and adding to God's word, which we all know is a big no-no according to the bible. So in Eve's mind she believes she will die if she just touches the fruit, let alone eats it, but this Serpent is saying God was lying. Adam is saying nothing because then he'd have to explain himself, so one can imagine that adds to her doubt. So Eve takes the fruit- and doesn't die. Well now it looks like Eve has proof God was lying. She's supposed to die just for touching the fruit. Once it looks like God was lying to them the whole time about everything, and the Serpent was telling the truth, why not eat the fruit and become like God? Why not find out why he was lying and what else he is hiding? Then Eve eats the fruit and- nothing happens. Like nothing at all. The pastor believed that Adam essentially didn't speak up this whole time both because he'd have to clear up his lie and explain himself to Eve, and because he was just as curious about the Serpent's words and wanted to use Eve as a guinea pig. What a brave protector.🙄 Once Eve had eaten the fruit, and absolutely nothing happened, it must have looked to Adam like God had been lying about everything. Adam probably thought it was safe to eat the fruit when Eve turned and handed it to him, but once he ate both of their eyes were opened. And we know the rest of the story.
I was taught an interpretation that it was Eve's wisdom that both she and Adam partook of the forbidden fruit. Because without the Fall, everything that came after could never come to pass. No prophecies for the future could be fulfilled in the Garden of Eden. Not even the ones regarding the Messiah. I always appreciated that interpretation because while it still acknowledges that it was committing a sin to partake of the forbidden fruit, it also acknowledges Eve's wisdom and role in supporting Adam. She brought the fruit to him because it was necessary. They needed it to be able to fulfill the roles they'd been given. I don't usually comment about this sort of thing, but I thought someone here might find the interpretation I know to be interesting.
I mean I learned more that it was mostly Adam's fault in the book. Since he knew about the apple but didn't warn Eve it wasn't okay to eat. So basically he wanted to disobey and did it while Eve only really conveyed the message of the serpent and wanted to help. In a sense it's also related to why you got the saying no good deed goes unpunished. If you help people you make yourself vulnerable. They could be grateful or they could hurt you or try to gain more and use you. On the other hand it's that vulnerability that shows strength as well. And a trust you have in your neighbour's that's admirable. Eve was made to be vulnerable. And she comes as a warning to know who you help, why you help and more of all that you should understand what the risks are. That information and knowledge is key to being able to help the people who really need the aid. And to avoid having your good heart be used to do something bad.
And of course the rebellion started with the youngest girl, a good representation of how much can happen with the voice of one and how it is usually the younger generation that sparks it by following the past rebellions people did before them
Mother to all, villain to the Bible, distorted example to women, victimized by men. The first woman was condemned by patriarchy. The sadness I feel for her, the maternal and naturistic bond I have for her. The heartache I have for every one of her daughters, alive and dead, breathing but defiled. It is all summarized into this song. Thank you.
My entire life I've only heard Eve being blamed for eating the apple. When I got my menstruation I was told "Blame Eve for eating the fruit," whenever I was in pain or inconvenienced. Every conversation about the topic of sin, it always reverted back to Eve and her taking the first bite. Even when I bring up that Adam was there and could have stopped her at any time, that the serpent deliberately manipulated her its always met with "But, she should have just not eaten it!!" It's sad. Just for further in the bible she is used as an example of why women should be suppressed; her punishment for falling victim to manipulation. Genesis 3:6 "So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave it to her husband with her, and he ate." Genesis 3:16 "To the woman He said: 'I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children; Your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you.' " 1 Corinthians 11:8 "For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. For man is not from woman, but woman from man. Nor was man created for the woman, but woman for the man. For this reason the woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels." (Even though immediately Paul says that both men and women are equal in God: if so, then why is a woman to be covered but not men??)
Just the title "Don't Cry For Your Daughters Eve" is enough of a tear jerker. I'm not Christian, but if I were the first woman and my kids ended up like we are now, I don't think I can imagine how I'd feel 😭
No, she doesn’t. Eve wasn’t a victim and wasn’t an infant-she was a grown woman who knew full well the consequences of her actions. The Story of Jesus shows everyone that Satan has no power over those who don’t listen to him. The narrative that Eve is somehow a victim is steeped in the narrative that women should be treated like innocent angels or like naive toddlers. Such a narrative simply isn’t true.
@@DoomzdehPeople like you make me feel glad that I'm an atheist! Tell me why are you saying those things about Eve and not about Adam? Is it because he is a man thus he should be removed from all the blame?
@@Doomzdehin many versions when god says about forbidden fruit he says it only to Adam, Eve could not even know about it. And still, Eve was convinced to bite it by DEVIL and Adam was convinced by her. And we don’t know their age, they could’ve been infants. So you just want to hug both because they didn’t even knew what was going to happen. And I still don’t really understand what was so awful about the apple, they say god gave humans free will but devil was the one to give them the apple, which gave them negative emotions, and what free will without negative aspects of your personality? Others say apple didn’t gave anything, apple was just a fruit, so we must do whatever the hell god wants even if it’s not justified? Really!? And also, Eve gets whole blame in many versions and throw out whole history, you can say “my bible don’t blames her” but how do you know what your bible is truth when it has the same amount of evidences as others? @@Doomzdeh Eve did not deserve that. Adam was just at fault as Eve was. Eve started the fall but Adam completed it. They were both prideful and childish before God rather than humble and confessing their sin. So says the Eastern Orthodox Church (the original Christian church). My Mother also taught me that Eve wasn't seduced because she was a woman, but because she was the youngest in all creation. The youngest baby of the group tend to be more naive and gullible than others, and it didn't matter the gender. Evangelicals take everything too literally in the Bible. Evangelicalism is ugly. Also, the way you describe women is a direct insult to the Holy Virgin Mary.
@@DoomzdehChristian here. Look at this scripture: I Timothy 2:14 NKJV [14] And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. While yes, Eve did sin, she was deceived. Adam, on the other hand, sinned, but wasn't deceived and knew what he was doing.
People saying "I hope we can forgive Eve"... guys, the song is about pleading with Eve to forgive us, not the other way around. We villainised her, disdained her, called her the original sinner, blamed her for our "sins", when in fact she was put in a cruel, impossible situation by an omniscient deity who knew her weaknesses and knew what she would choose and punished her when she did the very thing that was expected of her. Giving someone "free will" and punishing them when they don't make the choice you wanted them to make isn't free will at all. It is calculated cruelty. Giving humans sentience and asking them to behave like puppets is not and could never be the act of a loving god. Eve's choice to eat from the tree of knowledge embodied the pursuit of autonomy and embracing curiosity. Commendable qualities. It's not her fault humanity fell from grace. The system was corrupt and tyrannical from the beginning.
It’s less about being punished for a wrong choice and more about facing the consequences for your actions. The Genesis story starts from the supposition that something went wrong-the author looked around and saw that we were not living in a perfect world and that we often hurt each other and ourselves. So what went wrong? According to the Genesis story, we reached out for knowledge before the proper time. We chose our own will over the will of our Creator, mistrusting that our Creator had our best interests at heart. That choice sundered us from our Creator. Not because he wanted that for us, but because that’s what happens when you turn away from someone. But what happens next? The Genesis story continues with the promise of redemption. The same Creator one, takes away access to immortal life on earth (the tree of life), so that people do not suffer endlessly, and two, promises a redeemer. Bridging the gap between God and humans takes a unique situation: it takes God becoming human, himself. To repair the relationship, to balance justice and mercy, and to bring us back to himself, he becomes man and dies for our sins, including that original breach. Then, he rises from the dead, destroying even the hold of mortality upon us. And that is the Judeo-Christian story in a nutshell. To your point, I believe we can extend compassion to Eve, while also asking for her forgiveness, too. Because we all bear our own responsibility for our own actions. And trust me, people have absolutely misused the Genesis story to villainize Eve and, therefore, all women. Looking at you, Milton…. But I thought maybe you would be interested to hear this take on the story and know that it isn’t meant, at its heart, to grind Eve into the dust. She is the first woman-that is glorious beyond words. She fell-that is human beyond words. She was redeemed-and that is hopeful beyond words. ❤
You misunderstand how the story goes cause yes Eve ate the apple but humanity was ultimately cast out cause neither Adam or Eve took accountability. Eve blamed the snake and Adam blamed god for making Eve. If either one had taken responsibility they likely would have been able to stay
@@marissabulso6439 But the story is bullshit, how can someone know right from wrong without the knowledge of good and evil. She was punished for not following orders as lilith was before her. God can eat my entire ass, he set traps for those women and blamed them for falling in! Eve never needed redemption, its god who needs to be redeemed for his own sins of pride.
@@marissabulso6439 Also God used her to bring about redemption, if it had just been Adam, Jesus couldn't have been born. Especially in the virgin birth we see that God used women to accomplish his will, so many times in so many places. So to say that the Bible villainizes Eve is quite nonsensical.
My names eve and I was raised in the church and I don't know how to explain how this video and your song gave me chills. Ive never seen eve as the victim before, only the villain
@@anonymoose116she wasn’t even punished, God said eating from the fruit would kill her and then she ate it. That’s how cause and effect works. (Genesis 3:1-3) 2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’” She wasn’t ignorant, she chose to believe some random serpent rather than literally God. The story is about man’s want to exceed God, and how that lead to their downfall, as the serpent tempted Eve by saying that if they eat from the fruit, they would become like God!
@@PigOfGreed she was punished with terrible childbirth pains, and I assume menstruation as well, bc its unlikely God intended for us women to go through that imo
Well, yes, but both Adam and Eve were both explicitly punished. Adam with toil in his work and Eve with servitude to men and pain in childbirth. It is also interesting that the narrative of Adam and Eve presents it as if they truly received what was promised and became like divine beings. Even God takes note of this and it is explicitly indicated that this is why they are barred from the garden and the tree of life. Also, Adam and Eve don't die like what was threatened. Instead, they are punished in different ways. Yes, the story is about humanity's ego and pride trying to seize divinity for itself, but there are a lot of other interesting layers to the story. And yes, they are punished. I don 't know why you're claiming they weren't.
I think alongside the little girl being the first to speak up, the fact that a bunch of poc being amongst those to vouch for her cause is also very potent. They've always been at the forefront of a lot of change and that isn't to take away from the non-poc that have fought, it just feels very important to me. Maybe I'm overthinking, maybe I'm not. That's just one of the many things I observed in this masterpiece of a song.
@@LunaSilver90211 Person of color. Everyone suffers under the patriarchy, but black women and native women have debatably the hardest time as they're the most likely to be taken advantage of by police and the government in general. The statistics are.. extremely depressing to look at.
I agree! Its very important detail. I read somewhere a quote that said "who fights against oppression? Those who know oppression." And another quote "the more privelege you have, the less empathy you have." And so it'd make sense if POC were among the first to stand up!
Okay this was a musical and a storytelling masterpiece! It tells how the people who fought for a better world only wanted is to be in harmony but look at us once again we're at war again. Whether it be between countries or religion or gender or colour and i can go on. But our ancestors probably would be saddened to see us.
Why would they be saddened? Did they not know war in their time? Do they expect better from us? We’re only human, and so are they. We’re living in a pretty peaceful time in history all things considered, so why would our ancestors look down in shame or pity? They’ve gone through worse, done worse, been worse. They probably look down upon you as a grandparent does, full of a type of love only made possible after years of wisdom.
I started bawling when the little girl stood up. A lovely song and a simple yet poignant jab at the way systemic misogyny strives to make us complicit in our oppression.
I think my favourite part is when the girl starts to speak it gives all the women who were too afraid to help but wanted to the confidence to help. One voice on its own caused a chorus that bought positive action
I'm from Italy, and Eve's name is cursed really often. I've always complained about how Eve is always blamed but no one curses Adam's name. That's how, since I was a child, I've known how religion and society hates women. I'm so grateful and proud to be named after you, Eve. (In Italian, Eva)
@TheJordonChannel The point is: church always used this to villanize women, just like in ancient times women were villanized with other myths. It's always been like this but that doesn't mean it's rational. And Eve did not eat the apple, she wasn't tempted by the devil disguised as a snake and she didn't make Adam eat too. Because it's a made-up story. Though I am happy to be named after her because the more men hate me the more I am happy:)
@peachy_tea33What if the original sin is a story about Gon incompetence. Would that be a great lesson to learn, not to trust God to make everything perfect.
I love that you showed a crucial part in the psychology in scapegoating: Social cohesion. Even when we start to think "Maybe I'm not thinking straight." "Maybe I'm ignoring my morals", we see that everybody else is doing it. So we decide that makes it okay. We decide to keep spewing hateful names. We decide to keep throwing stones. And in our unity, we get a twisted sense of empowerment.
Everything about the lyrics speaks so much into existence. You want to stand up and not be a coward. But the cruelty of people kills that courage within you, and not only that, you don't want to face the same shame and abandonment, especially for those you care about. I really love how Eve is animated.
This really is gorgeous. From the animatic storytelling to the song's message itself. It's about a struggle that women face, a struggle many minorities face, where they can't do right by everyone and are scorned for everything they try instead. From the switching of women scorned for what they did to make things better for themselves or their families, being shown as the villains instead of the pathway into evolution. And I love how it went from older models to younger women, more modern women who still deal with the condemning of others because of everything they are and more. And I LOVE how the final order of images go from Lydia to Eve to the young girl. It shows that the focus now isn't for the older people who've learned to stand by, it's for the new generation who shouldn't put up with this fate and break the cycle. A message to the next generation to be weary that so many have already fallen victim to it but only the young generation can change things. This was so brilliant, the repetition, and the folksy vibe just add to the dark demeanor. Like this is a warning from the narrator (Lydia) who saw this first hand and is warning the younger about the cycle. In a world where we're all told to follow the status quo, to condemn and just take it if you 'deserve' it, we need to stand against all of this. Brilliant, Lydia!
The amazing thing about Eve is that she is the reason there's human life on earth (if you're religious). Many people and churches skip over the part that Adam and Eve had no idea how to procreate, but were commanded to. They were also told not to eat of the fruit from the tree of knowledge. She made the choice to eat and when she did she discovered the knowledge she needed to follow that commandment. But in doing so they were cast from the garden and were made to labor for their food, age, and die. For her choice to sacrifice and get that knowledge, she has been ostracized and villianized for thousands of years.
YES! I'm LDS and was always taught that the Fall was necessary for the plan to progress. The idea that it was a horrible thing that Eve deserves to be punished for surprised me.
@@kylajensen1957 I'm not Christian by anyone's definition, although I was raised in a mixed Protestant/Catholic family and read the Bible cover-to-cover as a kid. My most recent take is that Eden was the metaphysical equivalent of a "tutorial level". Eating from the Tree of Knowledge was the sign that they had developed the capacity for free will and were ready to move on from the tutorial into the real world. Without the banishment from Eden, they would have been stuck in stagnation. They would have been comfortable and safe, but not yet truly living. Faith is meaningless without the capacity to question or doubt. A being cannot be ethical or moral without the ability to weigh consequences and knowingly, freely make the choice
At 3:19 on the song, that part reminded me of the last few verses in the song Labour, aka another song about a woman being treated badly by a man. Idk if it was intentional, but it was cool
seeing the one frame with the albino woman when the different women were being shown means more to me than it should lol, you never see albinos when it comes to reprisenting different types of people
I love that the old woman is included in the end! Even though some may blame her, she's still a victim of the cycle but has just been in it for so long that she goes along the best way to survive
I'm a cis straight man and I still cried watching this...especially the part where all of the women who died because of the man's ego appear like 😭😭😭😭😭
"I'd help you but I risk taking your place" This strikes hard. When I was younger I was always willing to step out and take that risk, but more often than not you DO end up taking their place or ending up just like them... and more often than not there is no one that will step up to protect you. After a while the energy and will to take those risks are slowly worn down by the constant cycle.
The repetitive cycle of martyrdom be it for a cause or injustice hits hard. Generational curses, curses, women casting on roles that they are forced into or felt like they had to to save their families, countries, or protect those precious. Eves being heroes, known victims who weren’t saved. Some dying because of unfair trials, sexism, religious hubris and political decisions the rest discarded because they were women in general. I love how beautifully haunting this was, I even saw the transition from historical figures to unknown or barely mentioned, I also love the symbolism as well as you putting your own self in this to represent that you too are an Eve as every other women.
The final chorus, between the visuals and the audio and the atmosphere and the building tension and just everything else... *chef's kiss*. I hardly ever find myself sitting with a sense of inspiration but shit... I got goosebumps. Well done, masterfully crafted.
I don't know if this was intentional, but the woman in the hoodie at 3:43 looks so much like Bisan and it made my heart ache a little. Justice for the brave women in Palestine🍉 And thank you for creating such an incredible song. I absolutely adore how you've flipped Eve's story and used her treatment to talk about the struggles all women face.
I thought so too and it made sense to see her among other famous women that have been vilainized (Joan of Arc, Ann Boleyn and who i thought was Rosa Parks to name a few), especially now that Bisan's nomination for an Emmy in the News and documentation section is being spat on by some Hollywood famous women...the cycle repeats.
Justice for the victims of October 7th as well. Over 1000 people were killed on October 7th. 101 people are still held hostage in Gaza (with some of the women subject to horrific treatment by men). Where is their justice? They won't get any and neither will the women in Gaza, not with Hamas in power, and until that threat is gone innocent people will die on both sides. Peaceful men build farms, not weapons of war. Eve's daughters indeed - villainize victims.
Aside from the obvious story about how women were/are treated, it’s also a perfect story about how abuse and hate keeps the cycle going and what happens if we don’t dare speak up and instead join the devils
Its such an amazing yet sad detail that all the silhouettes seem to be women in the mob showing how they turn so quickly to avoid the same fate! I love this song!
I’ve made you a character in a dungeons and dragons campaign I run. And will play your songs on the speakers every so often as you grant the adventuring party “bardic inspiration” I’m at a point where I wasn’t 100% sure what your character would get up to next. After hearing this. It’s now going to be establishing and running a community entirely lead by women that will quickly become a dominant power in the region by the next time the group bumps into you :)
@ I’m not sure if you’re familiar with the Star Wars universe, or more specifically the Star Wars miniatures toy line lol. But I repurposed a Mara Jade model for her and swapped the gun for a mic, and painted the hair green :)
The irony of blaming Eve for sin is look at the actual story in the Bible (even you if you don't believe it sit fascinating). God gives the rule about the tree to Adam, BEFORE Eve was created, mean Adam would have been the one to teach Eve the rules, and when the snake tells Eve eat the apple, Adam is RIGHT THERE. It says, "And she gave some to her husband" not she went look for him, no he was right there with her. The Bible was written and translated by men and it shows. Reason 352 that I chose to study theology. Learned so much.
While I understand what you mean, saying that all men are that way or even that the Bible shows that it was written by men is inaccurate. Consider that Paul blames Adam for eating the fruit, but he says that Eve was deceived. He acknowledged that it wasn't Eve's fault, but her husband who was with her, Adam.
True point. And logically not all men can be like that. And yes the Bible as written by Spirit empowered people shows the falls in humanity, not just men or women. What I meant by that is the way that the Bible as we have today shows that it was translated by men and often taught by men, growing up in my church culture I was told women were the fall of humanity. I was well into adulthood when it dawned on me that Adum has to have been present in the story, not off working in some field. A different experience would shape how one views critical moments in the Bible..
@@FreedomeSeeker It sounds like you grew up around a bunch of not so nice or accurate people. My Dad is a faithful pastor who studies the word night and day and teaches it faithfully (he also knows and uses the original languages to do so). I never grew up hearing that woman caused the fall of humanity and never came to that conclusion from reading my English copy of the Bible-which I have read thoroughly many times (fyi I use NKJV). Only heard stuff like that from a few people and those people are never people who actually know their Bibles.
@FreedomeSeeker In my experience it's also only those who are petty who teach those false doctrines. Too many people don't look at their Bibles to confirm what's being said and will end up thinking the strangest things because they mix up what they think and what the Bible actually teaches. The reformed at the Westminster Assembly back in the 1600's knew and taught that Adam was the cause of the fall (see Westminster Shorter Catechism 16 and 18). It probably has more to do with the state of the church today, the fact that actual believers are spread quite thin, and that almost no one actually cares to study the scriptures thoroughly and often just try to use them to support what they are saying instead of showing what God is saying through His Holy Inspired Words. It's actually very easy to twist anything anyone says to mean the exact opposite of what they say if one is careful or careless enough...
This is your sound Lydia my gods, you concentrated the generations of rage women have felt since the dawn of time. You remind me of Paris Paloma in that way. This was an incredible work of art and everyone who made it come alive should be giving themselves one hell of a pat on the back. Loved listening to Afraid Of Quiet as well, hope that one gets its own video as well
God I get chills every time at the bridge. When the bell doth toll, the ringing calls out for us all. Siren, Temptress, Witch, Anne she stands without a stitch. A lesson never learned, *Speak too loud, we'll see you burn.* And your reflection seems TO LOOK A WHOLE LOT LIKE THAT EVE... When the bell doth toll, the ringing calls out for us all- *The ringing calls out for us all!* Every time, y'all. Every. Time.
0:48 this part sounds like ‘rule the quiet’ the Delores villain song she made ‘use your words dear, oh wait you can’t!’ And whenever I listen to this, I have to listen to that after because it would be stuck in my head the whole day otherwise
Mormon here. (I know, I know. I know.) We know the truth about Mother Eve. She recognized the contradiction before Adam, between the two commandments: to multiply and replenish the Earth. And to not eat of the fruit of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, lest we lose our innocence and become accountable for our thoughts and actions... She realized there was no other way. She had the wisdom to make the necessary choice to allow us to learn and progress, if we chose. And we are very grateful for that. Edit: I stumbled upon this after listening to Epic the Musical (repeatedly). If you haven't yet, don't miss it. Very Good!
Therefore you believe that Eve ate the fruit because she knew the only way humanity could progress is to make mistakes and learn from them, which wouldn't happen if we were still in Eden? (No irony here, that's an interesting take to a catholic)
This could just be me misunderstanding it, but that means if she made the choice before eating the fruit, she was still Innocent and not yet accountable for her thoughts and actions, which means that someone gave her the wisdom to make a choice instead of giving Adam the wisdom...
That's interesting. I didn't know. I like how they've framed her decision. How do they teach you about Lillith? You don't have to reply if you'd rather not, i'm just curious.
The animatics for your songs are always amazing. But somehow this one was even better. No words could describe how this made me feel adequately. Thank you for putting this into words.
Well Eve was the one to take the first bite. That is all. But what people fail to realize is that it could have easily been Adam the one to take that first bite. They both were there and listened to the serpent aka Satan. And they both took a bite. It just so happened to be Eve to take the first bite.
@@SarahfortheGraceofGod They did not both listen to satan. Eve listened to the serpant and Adam listened to Eve. God had told Adam directly not to eat from the tree. Eve was relayed this rule through Adam. As such, the punishment was not as severe when she took a bite. Something to note is that when Eve ate the fruit, nothing happened. But when Adam bit it, both of them lost their innocence as they were filled with knowledge. This is because the Bible actually holds Adam more accountable for this transgression than Eve. Adam was created first and given a direct order to follow. Sort of like the expectations of an elder sibling versus a younger sibling situation. This is even reflected in their punishments. Eve's punishment was the pain of childbirth and being considered lesser than men. Adam's punishment was literal death and the struggle to survive. Romans 5:17 KJV [17] For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) The Bible frequently blames Adam, almost never even mentioning Eve, for the death of mankind and their sinful ways. The so-called "religious" people who pin the blame on Eve for bringing sin into the world are just spewing out their own narrative at that point. It stuck for centuries because many people were illiterate in older days and could not correct them. But it is sad to see these people still spewing this narrative CONTRARY to the bible and faith that they claim to be a part of.
As Christian, I can say that in the Bible Adam is blamed as mush as Eve. They both commited the first sin and they both got punishment of it. Unfortunately, since many people uses religion to justify their own cruel beliefs and evil actions, they blame Eve more and even make it a reason to neglet all other women (while, in Christianity, you should have love and respect for EVERY human, no matter if it's man or woman, sinner or saint). This thing always upsets me. (Sorry if there're grammar mistakes, English is not my first language)
Im not sure if this is the intention but i kind of interpret it like this: Eve, forever cursed to reincarnate and see the pain she allegedly caused, always as a woman- always second class. feeling the pain and the villanisation, often executed before being forced to do it again and again keeping all the memories of torment.
I broke into tears at the end where the different women threw history are shown who stood up and shunned do immediately by the world around them, especially medusa‘s part and jeanne d‘arc hurt The hardest because of them being destroyed by the gods they prayed to.
@perlapamela2023 sure, jeanne d´arc was from a french peasent family during the 100 year war between france and britain, till one day she said she heard the voice of a angel speaking down to her, telling her god has given her the duty to lead france in the war against britain and free france from the brits tyranny. so she went on her way, forming a army and fighting with it against the brits, all while keeping up her christian believes and moral, fighting successful against the brits. That was until the brits captured her and put her on trial for being a heretic witch. jeanne d´arc refusing to submit to the will of the brits and keeping her believe denied any acusations of, but in the end she was executed. on the way to the stake to be burned she kept praying to god to forgive the ones wronging her, she kept praying this all while she also was burning at the stake, and so she died at the age of 19. She was a freedom fighter who never has let down her ideals and always kept fighting, and for this was executed as a witch, like so many before her. and the worst part is that she was trialed and executed in france by a french bishop, she was killed by the very people she fought for.
It’s interesting how many depictions of women in the ancient world describe certain figures as witches whereas if they were male, they would be seen as heroes. Theseus is seen as a hero despite dumping Ariadne off on Naxos because he didn’t want to keep his promise to marry her, even when she betrayed her father to help him defeat the Minotaur. Jason is still seen as the hero of his story despite betraying Medea, who even betrayed her own people to help him steal the Golden Fleece and was hated by them, and in the end Medea is seen as the evil one. And don’t forget the subject of this song Eve, who despite Adam also eating the apple Eve is the one who is punished more and is seen as the one who tempted him to disobey God. And there are plenty of examples of female characters in the Bible who are seen as evil, Delilah and Jezebel to name a few. Even as someone who is male, it is so interesting that females in religious texts who follow what is expected of their roles are exalted, whereas those who do not are seen as villainous and evil. Not even counting their male counterparts who are praised for doing the same behavior, because that’s okay for them to do. Even today in certain parts of the world there are expected roles for different genders to follow, and those who do not conform are seen as scandalous or without virtue. Despite what we have achieved technologically as a species, there are some areas where we can do better. Thanks for the song Lydia, you always have something thought-provoking as usual.
When I was 7 in Sunday School I asked, "But Adam took the apple and bit it so it's his fault too?" They expelled me by telling my parents to never bring me again. My dad didn't beat me that night, but broke a radio by bashing my mother with it while he screamed. I was never taken to church again & lost the only "nice" Father I knew. I used to think if I sang the song "Silent Night" 100% perfectly, my dad would stop. Over & over whisper-singing for years, never getting it right, taking all his sins on as my own. The magical thinking of a little daughter of Eve
Honey, this was so damn powerful... And so damn true. And it feels so crushing and hopeless as we try over and over and make headway to only hit wall after wall after wall. But we keep trying.
Eve: Even if I want, I cant cry for you my daughters. My tears dry looong ago, when I did see with my own eyes how they turn us into the scapegoats of all problems. Rage and hitting us and then us blaming each other, only so we dont see the problem.I have seen many of you turning great, leaving your mark in legends and history!Feeling proud of being your mother, only for them end up betrayed, half forgotten or turn evil. But my daughters dont forget, that even if I cant or you dont want me to cry, I will still do it, because cry and watch over you is the only things they (and you sometimes daughters) left me do as a mother
One of my favorite things about this is the older lady, from the first "As Mother dies for Daughter" line and is shown being hurt/exhausted by the same system that she encourages in the video. She's the one who lights the flames, quite literally carrying on the tradition that condemns herself. This is such a well-thought-out video with so many symbolic details. I love every piece of this.
1:03 I really love this line. "They speak but we listen". Because yes, it's the people in power's fault. It's the loud minority. _It's not our fault_ that society is like this. But it is our fault that it stays like this. It is our responsibility to rebel, to change it. They (men in the past, and some men now too) might have been the ones to start it, to say that women must be submissive, but we are the ones that are listening. Women throughout history were the ones who didn't rebel, who just let it happen because "That's just the way of the world". But we've changed, we've grown stronger and braver. Women are still treated as less, still expected to comply with gender roles that serve no purpose. Men are affected too, and the gender roles don't really help them either. It's a lose-lose situation. But times are changing. There's hope. One day, maybe gender roles won't exist. Maybe gender won't be such an important factor in life.
I love how this song was never only about Eve. We women are so used to cursing one another, because that is what we had been taught to do. Because it is easier to repress rebellion if they sow the seeds of malice among us; that way we would never unite and change our situation. We are used to blaming the victim and not the culprit, as long as the victim is a woman. This song and Labour are the definition of female rage, and it should be the glue that keeps us together
Please be aware mistakes were made in the production of this song, the backing vocals are made up of a majority white cast and the proper steps to ensure it was representative of all women were not made. “I’d help you, but I risk taking your place” Hit way too close to home :(

The mother shushing the little girl when she first reached forward to defend Eve destroyed me. How many of us have been silenced (metaphorically and literally) by the women who raised us? Whatever the motivation, it’s heartbreaking.
Often the motive is to protect them and I find that just as heartbreaking for some reason.

@@lucanandrews774 Wow, that's just completely screwed up and I'm sorry you had to go through that.
I'm honestly glad my mother didn't try to quiet me as a kid and as I spoke about things I actually lead her to see things in a different way too (not that she was at all conservative to begin with) like she once came home from work and ranted about how she never used to notice things people saying "he or she" instead of "they" and now she can't unhear it and finds it frustrating because I once mentioned that it was dumb and literally takes a third of the time to say "they" instead
My mother and I still have a great relationship unlike my father who leant more into the "shut up and respect my authority" mentality hence why my headstrong "I'll respect your authority only when you prove you're worthy of it" self hasn't gotten on with him since I was probably 2 perhaps even younger
Adam was the one who worked god made it so woman would have pain giving berth
@@storm861 Being born to Eve and Adam, which again kinda unfair since a child shouldn't have to pay fo it's parents's sins; also just cause we have the hability to sin doesn't mean we're already horrible beings worthy of eternal damnation from the second we're born; we can be bad as we can be good (last part from Marina's Savages)
Lillith was the first women created and was cast out of Edan for standing up for herself then Eve was created from Adam's rib to serve him so if and I do mean if Eve ate the apple first it was because she was ordered to by Adam, and this is why men have an Adams apple.
The tired look in Eve's eyes after she's freed is because this scenario has already happened to her countless times and will continue to happen :')

I like that it’s not Lydia saving the woman but that little girl… it’s just cool because most say they’d do something and like to think they would but realistically a lot would probably be to scared to help.
I love that too, she's not taking the place of a main character
and the lyric "I'd help you but i'd risk taking your place."
words it SO well too
And if you think about it a little girl would be braver than the other cause she haven’t been taught the cruel reality like they others have, she is still ‘naive’ in their eyes but is actually right and is speaking out rather than being silents
According to the Bible It's because of her we're born, she gave birth to the first baby on earth
Yep. Lots will walk by. That’s why you have to be better and stronger for those other women.
I have a theory that Eve's expression at the end is not necessarily a 'happening again to her many times' but more of a representation of the continuation of women being treated and punished so harshly - that it never ended, it was a cycle.
They still going to be punish and hurt 😢
What I find really interesting is that the lyrics are not especially hopeful in the end, but the animation is. Up to us to decide which one we want to follow ...
Eve just looks... Tired.😞
@@davidvaldezjr5546can't blame her
yes! i like that they saved her, but i feel like even the animation isn’t really hopeful at the end. as most people have said, Eve doesn’t look happy, she just looks tired. someone noted that that’s probably because this has happened many many times before, & i think that adds up with the “…as mother dies, and dies, and dies, and dies, and dies…”
so it’s technically a good ending, but it’s also not really happy. idk i think it fits
It feels like the song is asking us "Do you want to believe what your eyes see, or do you want to believe what you hear?"
Thank you! I'm sitting here like, shouldn't the contents of the song matter more then who sings it? She's never struck me as a malicious person.

So interesting that both Eve and Pandora were women whose curiosity is blamed for the existence of suffering.
This song is amazing and the animatic is gorgeous!

what helps is reading/listening to stories as much as you can (in fancy terms "educating yourself"). One day you might realize "hey, I can cite like 10 sources which prove this person's wrong!" It's not just your people and your government, but similar things are happening in different parts of the world.
We need more people like you, seriously
Yeah, this song give so thought for minds. It's not just a song about women hurt by men, but by other womans too, who belives in too harsh judgement, and who are judgemental. I was taking part in religious classes at school; and I never uderstood why Eve was considered the symbol of women begin evil or dumn, for disobeing God, siece she was no even able to talk to him like Adam. Was Eve even conscious begin? If she was a clone of Adam (made from rib) then probably not, but in chrisitans wersion she was. And men and women where made as equals.
I also believe that all humans are equals and important.
We need more of you in the world! ❤
How ever he also noticed that the Serpent asked Eve (paraphrasing a little) "Didn't God say not to eat of the fruit, or touch it, or you will die?"
The important bit is the "or touch it" which isn't what God said at all.
Thank you.
Literally, none of the Apostles villainized Eve. In fact, St. Peter HATED Adam for taking the bite
Even though Eve was the first to eat of the fruit, Christianity considers Adam responsible for Original Sin, not Eve
My entire life I've only heard Eve being blamed for eating the apple. When I got my menstruation I was told "Blame Eve for eating the fruit," whenever I was in pain or inconvenienced. Every conversation about the topic of sin, it always reverted back to Eve and her taking the first bite. Even when I bring up that Adam was there and could have stopped her at any time, that the serpent deliberately manipulated her its always met with "But, she should have just not eaten it!!"
It's sad.
She also gave it to her husband with her, and he ate."
Genesis 3:16 "To the woman He said: 'I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children; Your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you.' "
1 Corinthians 11:8 "For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man.

I’m not even blaming you I’m actually curious about it when age what I was like 5.
Look at this scripture:
I Timothy 2:14 NKJV
[14] And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.
@@marissabulso6439 Who's Milton?
Read Genesis through fresh eyes. She was a pawn, and then punished for it.
@@anonymoose116she wasn’t even punished, God said eating from the fruit would kill her and then she ate it. That’s how cause and effect works.
(Genesis 3:1-3)
2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”
She wasn’t ignorant, she chose to believe some random serpent rather than literally God. The story is about man’s want to exceed God, and how that lead to their downfall, as the serpent tempted Eve by saying that if they eat from the fruit, they would become like God!
@@PigOfGreed if you knew your Bible, you would indeed know that Eve was punished.
Try again.
As a woman who lives in a country where gender discrimination is severe, I love this song
Im sorry, but whats poc-?

@@LunaSilver90211 people of color I think?
Well people blame eve because she got Adam to eat the fruit. The Bible blames Adam even tho eve did it first.
@@TheJordonChannel because Eve was tricked, Adam knew. Which is arguably so much worse. That is why original sin is regarded as the curse of Adam.

Damn Lydia that deep, especially about Eve & everyone else struggling to do what is right 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽❤😢, and I have to admit it almost made me cry
Brilliant, Lydia!
this is such a great analysis!
i cried when they were like 'I'd help you but i risk taking your place' like that hits you so hard
I thought it reminded me of something!
And the way the narrative is led reminds me of "As good as a reason", another female rage song from Paris Paloma

You don’t have to be a woman to recognize bad history
Thankfully there are good men out there and you sound like one of them ❤
"I'd help you but I risk taking your place"
This strikes hard.
THIS SONG IS AN ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE, CAN'T STOP SINGING IT OUT LOUD 💚
Aside from the obvious story about how women were/are treated, it’s also a perfect story about how abuse and hate keeps the cycle going and what happens if we don’t dare speak up and instead join the devils

Exactly, no actually practicing blames Eve, in fact St. Peter HATES Adam for the aforementioned reasons
Very Good!

Which epic musical?
Therefore you believe that Eve ate the fruit because she knew the only way humanity could progress is to make mistakes and learn from them, which wouldn't happen if we were still in Eden? (No irony here, that's an interesting take to a catholic)
This could just be me misunderstanding it, but that means if she made the choice before eating the fruit, she was still Innocent and not yet accountable for her thoughts and actions, which means that someone gave her the wisdom to make a choice instead of giving Adam the wisdom...

I always found it weird when people would blame Eve more then Adam, because they both committed the first sin.
Edit: Read the replies
Well Eve was the one to take the first bite. That is all. But what people fail to realize is that it could have easily been Adam the one to take that first bite. They both were there and listened to the serpent aka Satan. And they both took a bite. It just so happened to be Eve to take the first bite.
@@SarahfortheGraceofGod
They did not both listen to satan.
Romans 5:17 KJV
[17] For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
The Bible frequently blames Adam, almost never even mentioning Eve, for the death of mankind and their sinful ways.
Christian here, even though Eve was the first to eat of the fruit, Adam is considered responsible for Original Sin, not Eve
Muslim here, we don't blame any of them, just the devil.

You've written an anthem to be heard in every corner of the world. Amazing piece of work.
YEAH!!!
3:43 Okay having the asian woman on the "And your reflection seems" lyric is either underappreciated or not intentional.
This song hits even harder now after the results of yesterday
Probably the most tense I've ever been for a lullaby. 😶 Holy crap this is good.
