People who want to pretend to be an angel don't have wings of their own, so they fashion themselves a pair of wings made of wax, then they think they can charm the Sun. Little do they know, that attempt will spell their downfall.
@@jacobdoswalt To be honest, I just rephrased the story of Icarus, so feel free to steal that! Ovid wrote down the modern version 1300 years ago but the myth dates back through oral tradition at least 3500 years.
I'm loving the visuals in this. So often this kind of abusive figure is paired with the demand for a victim to "grow some thicker skin." The sad irony is that if they do, then they only take more damage, and what gets through has greater impact. A statue shattering where skin only bruises. The reversal of such a scenario is gratifying
I find it fascinating how, while Lydia's own character is in both of these Eve stories, she's not the main character in either. She's an observer, and once the side of good gets going, she plays a supporting role. I don't have much to say about it, but it is interesting.

I like the medusa symbolism with the snakes and statues, I bet the devil's gaze is as cold as ice and would chill the spines of anyone who'd gaze upon it. I also like how at the start she seems so happy and her gaze is focused on him, almost like she's in love, but as the story continues it gets darker and more grim like the devil 'fore the Fall.

i love the flicker of doubt in the woman's face at 4:24, cause even when you've escaped your abuser's grasp it's easy to fall into those feelings of guilt. "i'd watch your back is all / that ledge is pretty tall / and you're looking quite a bit like the devil 'fore the fall" is a line that scratched an itch in my brain too, LOL just very yummy lyrically
As one of the creators of the visuals I'm so happy details like this are noticed! It's exactly why I storyboarded that expression in; he tries to gain back control on her even in the moment she is trying to leave, and it can be so easy to then feel guilty for choosing your own safety and wellbeing. Removing yourself from an abuser is brave but definitely hard - I'm so happy that part came across as well!

First an Eve song, then a Devil song, I wonder if we're going to get an Adam song; maybe Eve comforting him after the loss of Abel to Cain, telling him it's okay to mourn and cry? I mean, every depiction of Adam always carries the tones of stereotypical masculinity, to the point of toxicity when everyone forgets he was also the first father, in the traditional sense, meaning he also had the first heart break of losing a child so tragically. To me, it seems like the perfect setting for a really impactful song and story, especially with the potential message of grieving and it being okay to cry
That's a good idea. There's no stories like that and it'd be awesome if she made a song about that. I don't think there's enough stuff out there to really address that. It could be a collab or duet where she sings the part of eve and someone else sings the part of Adam. Or it could just be her singing, either way it would be really good.
@@tsisallen8288 I know right?! Even if she doesn't it's still an amazing concept to think about. And I think it would likely be a solo, since the last two were solos; Eve's song made sense to be a solo, and the Devil's didn't either. I'd be all for it one way or the other

"Blinded by your pride, you're swallowed up by your rule." According to Isaiah 14, Satan is also known as "Lucifer, son of the morning. You were made perfect in every way, until unrighteousness was found in you. You said in your heart, "I will exalt my throne above the stars of God. I will make myself like the Most High." As a result of Satan, the accuser being blinded by his pride, Jesus says to his disciples: "I saw Satan fall like lightning from Heaven. Satan the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy. But I have come that you may have life and have it to the full." "It's biblical, the way I see the story play out." There are multiple references to the Bible, in the verses and chorus of Lydia's song. Specifically, The Serpent in Genesis chapter 3, who appears again in the Book of Revelation, given by John the Apostle. "That Serpent of old who is also called the Devil and Satan." "Better be careful how you go about this now. Forgiveness isn't how you're renowned." The word Satan means accuser. In John 8 as Jesus speaks with the scribes and Pharisees in the temple, he says this about Satan: "He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth. Because there is no truth in him. When he speaks, he speaks out of his own character. For he is a liar and the father of lies." In verse 3, There are references to the golden touch of King Midas and the Emperor's new clothes. The rest of verse three talks about: 1. Facing the divine. 2. Undermining God. 3. Meeting your maker. and 4. Preparing for Judgment Day. This song is very well written. I think the lyrics and music fit well together. Lydia is correct that her song "Devil 'fore the Fall" can be interpreted as an allegory for people who present themselves as beautiful and kind on the outside but are nasty on the inside and tend to bring others down so they can bring themselves up. This song is about Satan or the Devil as well. It's very similar to one of Jesus' 7 woes to the Scribes and Pharisees in Matthew 23. "Woe to you Scribes and Pharisees! Hypocrites! You are whitewashed sepulchers who appear beautiful on the outside, but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and all corruption. You carefully observe the letter of the law, but you disregard the more important matters of the law. Righteousness, Mercy, and Faithfulness." This wasn't a line-by-line analysis of Lydia's last song on her album, just the lyrics that stuck out to me the most.
This is so good! Everyone has already said what I wanted to say already, but I really love this!! I hope you get more views for this, and the other two songs as well!!! :D

LYDIA THIS IS SO GOOD YOU ARE WAY TOO TALENTED
The animatic is really well thought out & just beautiful. I’ve never thought of heaven this way but it makes sense to me (raised Catholic)
Quello non è il Paradiso. È solo una pantomima dello stesso.
Love the symbolism. As usual your music is very moving.

Amazing!!
Probably my favorite out of the debut it showed get more love
When I first saw the video's thumbnail, I thought it was gonna be a villain song for Link from LoZ, regardless once again another incredible song.
Like that idea though "why should I protect hyrule again and again its better to destroy it for good

Absolutely incredible video. Wonderful work! ❤
You're songs are so amazing!
I absolutely LOVE how the Biblical allusions were used so well to describe narcissistic, egotistical people who believe that they are the best thing since sliced bread.
After listening to this song, I feel like there should be a law for all CEOs of large companies to listen to this song and contemplate their actions.
Infatti è una canzone appropriata alle persone schiave del diavolo.
Wow what a video about Lucifer, Lydia! 😲👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Beautiful, with so many layers! I love it.
I LOVE the beat and the story line you are truly talented!
He then fell into the hazbin hotel universe and cloaked himself in clown makeup perfecting his deception
Hi Linda this song is very will done I really liked the story in this one the Buteyfull way you captured the abusive part of the story was also will done
I also liked the Medusa symbolism with the snake
And statues
Medusa story is also about abusive relationship
Love your songs Lydia ❤❤
This is my favourite of the ep
Mine too
Okay, are you an angel in disguise, because... all your music is hitting home
This is amazing I adore it. I love your music!!
I think it’d be cool if she made a Hermes villain song from Hermes in epic the musical i need this and my life will be complete. PLEASE LYDIA PLEASE! ❤
Your songs are so interesting and I’m TOTALLY going to stream it millions of times ❤❤ Is Eve a character in this EP? because in the lyrics it mentions ‘bring down sweet Eve’ and that character looks really similar to the Eve in ‘Don’t cry for your daughters Eve’- or is that by coincidence 😅
Coincidence? I think NOT!!!

Love thisss❤❤❤
This is amazing omg
The song makes me think of Peter Pan (the original one-where he kills the lost boys)!
I love that that looks like the same woman as Eve
This is incredible!
For anyone who's a RDR fan, this song gives Dutch van der Linde vibes.
I love it and the picture
Did you noticed that all the staues are female?
Meaning that the Devil charmed them and when they saw his true self turned to stone
another masterpiece well done was amaizng ❤
