    THANK YOU! This actually fixed my problem. I have 128GB of RAM, and a not-so-great video card, so pointing me to that Dynamic RAM Preview setting was just what I needed. In Vegas 19 it's not a field so I can't enter 0; it's a slider, and it was already down at about 6GB, so I turned it all the way up and turned OFF the GPU acceleration, and it's running SUPER smooth now.

    For those who want to use a AMD RX 4xx 5xx for rendering. Just go to "preferences" > "deprecated features" and enable "allow legacy gpu rendering". Click "apply" > "OK", close and restart the software. It should fix your missing options for "encode mode: render using gpu if avaliable" at the video tab and "check GPU" at the system tab. See ya!

    Nice video, just unfortunately didn't fix my issue as this video, just like most others unfortunately, take for granted that GPU acceleration in the dropdown menu is available, as VEGAS doesn't even recognize my GPU for some reason (a 3090 and Vegas Pro 17) - so no hardware acceleration here still, takes about 2-5 hours to render a 15 minute video in 4k, its driving me nuts.
    Video is still nice though and explains what you are doing just fine, not ranting about that at all :)

    • @CujoSound
      @CujoSound 2 года назад +3

      Found the issue by the way, it wasn't the card, the nvidia driver or anything. It was directx which was faulty and you cann uninstall and reinstall it after becoming native windows. So only solution was a soft re-install of windows

    • @CujoSound
      @CujoSound 2 года назад +1

      @@JonackFilmyea, it was faulty directX drivers, which are native now, so it required a re-install of windows. Just a repair install will do. A boot drive, tell it to install, keep all files and settings.

  • @belldigitalmedia
    @belldigitalmedia 4 года назад +1

    Nice video, but your 4k video seems to be only 1080p according to "project" resolution in the preview area. When I edit 4k files the "project" resolution is an actual 4k resolution, and the "preview" will typically be at a lower resolution like HD. I'm ordering a new computer this week and I can't wait to try your settings.

    • @DatoAliffAlex
      @DatoAliffAlex  4 года назад

      belldigitalmedia i’ve tried 4K video on a 4K project and it playback just fine with minimal frame drop. Another thing you can do is add VEGAS into Nvidia 3D panel and set the OpenGL rendering to use your GPU, which in this case i’m using RTX2060. I’ve forgotten to highlight that in this video. Give it a try.

    • @MichaelHarrison101
      @MichaelHarrison101 3 года назад

      The resolution of the final video isn't dependent on the project settings except in the case of voukoder which default to rendering at project resolutions. According to Magix, you will get better *preview* performance if you match your project and source video resolutions so that Vegas doesn't have to constantly resize each frame. It's another area where they really need to make better use of the GPU for things that it's really good at.

    Hi, what was the reason not to have Dynamic RAM enabled or why I cannot let's say put half of my ram resources for Sony Vegas so it has its priority in this? I saw another video kinda doing or saying opposite, but not explaining, only that keep third RAM for Sony and enable GPU in the settings as you showed. What's your input? :)

    • @DatoAliffAlex
      @DatoAliffAlex  3 года назад +1

      VEGAS is unable to have both run simultaneously due to hardware & software problem (In most cases)
      Most of it come back to VEGAS old legacy coding system, which one of the reason why VEGAS cant have Dynamic RAM & GPU Acceleration both enable together. Some people able to have both run together without error, but very few lucky one.
      Since Sony left VEGAS, VEGAS Team is fairly small so any development to improve it may take sometimes.

    • @WhiteDraqon
      @WhiteDraqon 3 года назад

      @@DatoAliffAlex I see. So what it depends on, to be lucky? I actually run it few times with D Ram enabled and haven't seen issues...or not yet as I used it like only 5 times since then.

    • @DatoAliffAlex
      @DatoAliffAlex  3 года назад +1

      @@WhiteDraqon Not lucky, but more in depth technical fix is required if you unable to run both, and this may be vary between users which is very hard to solve.
      Sony left VEGAS Creative Software in 2016, and a Software company from German, Magix GmbH is the new parent company for VEGAS Creative Software. Even tho it's under Magix, you dont called the program "Sony VEGAS" or "Magix VEGAS", just VEGAS Pro.

    For the best playback on Vegas Pro 19 onwards, go to file I/O as described in this video and turn ON *both* AVC and HEVC decoding. This will grey out 'Hardware Decoder To Use' but Vegas will still utilise dedicated GPU (despite it being greyed out). And you can comfortably set your RAM Preview back to10% of higher.

What will work is dropping down the gpu to do the effects and choose your second card. my second card I added was the 3060, so whichever card is not the FIRST GPU in your system, choose that, and voila, video preview, fx acceleration if the card is fast enough. For decades you are right, it was stuck in the mud not using Nvidia GPUs at all. Let me see if I can find that video, otherwise I'll just tell you from my settings file. I think it was this one:
      ruclips.net/video/46DbIBRnfnA/видео.html
      Sony Movie Studio does everything I need it to do... I don't know what extra features Vegas had, but I didn't miss a thing switching. But thne I was switching from a pretty old version of Vegas to the latest Sony Movie Studio.
      About the only thing I don't like about Vegas is they try to sell you eve single incremental version upgrade, instead of offering it for free. Eventually your version goes pretty out of date over the years, and that's kind of a pisser. But then it will always still do what it did when you bought it, so not a big deal for me.

      @@choppergirl oh okay I have already watched that video but it didn’t help my issue but thanks anyway.
      So in Movie studio does support GPU rendering right? If so which version of Movie studio are you on, what is your gpu? Also do you use a cracked version or paid one?

      @@angQuangThang264 I'm one version behind, I think 16 or 17. I think current is 18.
      Im using a Geforce 1070 on an FX-8350.
      I think its speeding it up but its very subjective as I use a lot of Titler effects ehich are CPU bound.
      Movie Studio is a lot cheaper, just make sure you spend the extra $10 to get the unlimited track version. The cheapest version is limited to 10 or 20 tracks...I forget which. The extra $20 Titler bundle is what I got... the Titler software is just ok, not fantastic, but I do use the heck out of it.
      Davinchi Resolve is free but I dobt understand its interface worth a damn, so it was totally worth $70 to get a virus free copy and where I didnt have to learn a whole new aggravating system.
      My brain goes back to Sony Acid... music track editir that Vegas evolved from?... so...I think that way.

    when im rendering videos, it only use cpu 100% and 20% gpu, I have an rtx.. I activated all the options to use gpu but still nothing, and I have to wait half an hour every video I render.. if it use gpu it would be super fast...

    im not retarded i know this simple thing im just so frustraded cause like around 2 months ago it worked and now vegas dosent detect my gpu but that i mean when rendering there is only MainConcept AVC and in gpu acceleration it says gfx1010 i think...
    and whats funny that when i type my problem on google or yt i get videos liek this....
    edit - oh and i have amd setup and when looking in rendering there are only normal renders or intel and that makes no sens when i have amd
