The critique of MSFS's camera system is still valid today. I'm enjoying MSFS, but the camera system in Xplane just works so nicely. In MSFS it feels like pulling teeth to do anything.
Finaly .. after 28 years back in MSFS and found this beautiful solution to create a fly-by - which btw almost all other FS's have under a single button. However .. dispite of the "complexity" now you/we can tweak it and set it up the way you want it to be, from every angle, which you can not in almost all other FS's On the other hand it shouldn't be a big problem for MS/Asobo to offer the opportunity to bind a key for a standard Fly-by view. Thanks a bunch for the effort to get into a "problem" like this and come up with a beautiful solution.
Wow, I have to give you 100% for contribution to flight-sim community for something that Asobo scores 0% for. However, as a flyby solution I score it only around 20%, as even this is still extremely convoluted (yet probably the best we have for now) AND one will have to do all of this EVERY SINGLE TIME for EVERY SINGLE PLANE! If there was a way to save that camera position permanently and universally and simply hit a key or joystick button to activate, I will give it a score of maybe 70%. The lack of a flyby view is the single biggest reason I have almost completely stopped playing MSFS 2020 and not purchased it yet (still using the "free" option with Gamepass subscription).
Thanks for making this tutorial. What in the world were they thinking when designing the camera mode? I fly many simulators and this is by far the most convoluted of all.
I've been fussing with how to do this this forever. This video showed how to do it consistently (even though laborious). KUDOS for a great instructional video and THANKS! P.S. What keyboard macro utility do you use?
One of the cheapest fix for msfs is a compelling camera system to properly enjoy the visuals, the fixed 1980's camera system makes planes feel like cars.
you talk about button "C" to control the plane in drone mode. I my case it does not work. how can i find out whick key i have to toggle ? or what is the name in msfs settings , so can do it myself . tks a lot
What a Great Fly-By Camera Tutor !!! I Learn a lot !!! Please, could you tell me where we can learn how to get a working “fixed spot Plane View” for the MSFS 2020 external view, as it was created on the past for the FSX Flight Simulator, just changing “Flat” to “Fixed” at the line “Track=FlatChaseLocked” at the (Cameras Defenition.004) of the FSX (cameras.cfg) file. The objective with that, is to turn only the plane around a spot in its external view, without also turning the surrounding scenery with it, to simplify for us all it's relative position perseption . Thanks.
2024 and still no built in flyby view. They really need to fix this, because the way it's set up right now makes creating videos ridiculously difficult
Hi,looks fantastic.Would this work on Xbox series x?U.I looks the same so i guess it will.Too bad on Xbox series x whe still don't have a replay cam with fantastic TV style fly by cams.
Looks like they are going to add every blade of grass on the planet for FS 24 let’s hope the don’t deliberately leave out the most cinematic and satisfying camera mode the the sim ever had
Thd camera system in msfs is nothing short of f#%ked. It was so easy back in the old days with all the camera apps you could choose from. I wish asobo opened it up fof development.

I agree. I own both of them Microsoft as well as explain and explain definitely does the camera system much much better
MSFS Flyby: open this, press that, bind xy, do this, xbox controller, keyboard, shenanigans blah bla
DCS: hit F3
FSX: Hit A while in Outside View several times.

Awesome tutorial! I can highly recommend his Twitch channel.
Flyby views were also in the last SEVERAL version of MS flight sim and all it took was hitting a couple keys right outta the box.
Not true.
You also had a tower view, but that was a long time ago.
@@Kreemerz clearly u never used either FSX or P3D.
Great tip. Hope Asobo does put back an easy to use fly-by as in previous versions.
Thanks for making this tutorial. What in the world were they thinking when designing the camera mode? I fly many simulators and this is by far the most convoluted of all.
I couldn't agree more.
Thanks for your effort and contribution making this flyby video tutorial possible to use
Asobo should add the fly by view
Thanks for the tips, anyway
wow, this came up on my homepage. thanks for the video.
This is SO AWESOME!!!!! Looks like I'll be spending the weekend honing my MSFS Drone Camera skills. Thanks for... not much, Asobo! LOL
Awesome job friend!
there is a god! I've been looking for this for a week.
Fantastic Tutorial. Loved the video. Keep posting. Great Work.

Hi nice video to learn from great tuttorial, I didn't understand how to manipulate the airplane control while use drone camera.
Thanks
Dylan
Really sad that even FSX had the Fly-by view by default...
Most impressive tutorial.
you talk about button "C" to control the plane in drone mode. I my case it does not work. how can i find out whick key i have to toggle ? or what is the name in msfs settings , so can do it myself . tks a lot
It's called "Toggle plane controls".
@@MotoFuzzithank you I can finally control the plane
Muy buen video, siempre lo quise hacer y no supe como. Muchas gracias!!!
What button is it for toggling between drone and aircraft control for xbox?

They put all the effort into the graphics and missed out focusing on the basics. Great game. Just a lot of things to work out.
Great video :)

Asobo I want a flyby view. One of the first functions I tried to find in MSFS. Disappointing not to have someting so common and simple built in.
What area are you flying over in the start of the video?
How do I get the drone in front of my plane ?
Great demo. Thanks!
what to do if i can't turn on track ir
Is there a way to do that for AI traffic? That the camera follows the plane while taking off or landing?
Hi,looks fantastic.Would this work on Xbox series x?U.I looks the same so i guess it will.Too bad on Xbox series x whe still don't have a replay cam with fantastic TV style fly by cams.
Does this work for Xbox ?
I’m having trouble getting it to work
Nice tuto, but it´s not like in FSX... I wish to have automatic repeat options in fly by view :(
I cannot pilot the plane in drone mode...how is it possible that you can to pilot the plane?
You must set TOGGLE PLANE CONTROL to a button on your controller (or a button combination) or what controls you use.
they absolutely ruined the views in MSFS one of if my only complaint about the entire sim
nice, thank you for sharing this!
Alright! Guess I won't be doing flybys! 😂
I wanna see the owl
I like grapes
Fourth!
Thanks man!!!!!
How is this not a single key, I mean BF2 had that.
dont need BF2, even FSX had that years ago.
Ahh, thanks a lot…
Asobo could add this within two hours into the game. And in 4 years they still did not.
Looks like they are going to add every blade of grass on the planet for FS 24 let’s hope the don’t deliberately leave out the most cinematic and satisfying camera mode the the sim ever had
ACES Studios gonna laugh their asses off at Asobo lol if they still exists.
The FSX camera system is the only thing i miss in FS2020 , it's garbage
First
Third!
@@AmyAnnLand Hey
Agreed about the camera system. Msfs is horrid for cameras

stubborn Asobo
so dumb they don't just have a default flyby cam yet.
its possible to fly the plane all the time, the drone mode is activated - i just mapped everything with Spad.Next ... easy..
MSFS seems to be geared toward xbox users now which is sad. Xbox is for kids.
When i try flybys my drone camera rolls over instead of staying level. What am i missing?
