I spent 3 hours tonight looking at one video after another. I just wanted someone to explain clearly how to control the drone “showcase” camera view. I finally found a clear, straightforward explanation. YOU DID IT SIMHANGAR!!! Thank you!
You mentioned left, right, forward and back, roll and rotate but you forgot the translate drone up and down option with keyboard commands, R and F, I think, very important option. Also, you should recommend that you change the save view commands to Cntrl Num then access it with just Num. That gets rid of the Alt key and makes it a lot easier to use and remember. Otherwise, clear and helpful video for someone new to this. 👍🏻
Great, great video Q8 You are one of the treasures of the Flight Sim community. This has helped greatly with my struggle with MSFS views. Now I can move the viewpoint further from the plane to reduce the fisheye distortion that is built into MSFS, that makes (especially big planes) look stupidly cartoonish. Apparently the sim is designed for the pilot/player to be sitting close to a wide-screen flat monitor, but I'm happy that SU 10 will have settings to change the nature of the display. The current view's central bulge toward the viewer is (for me) disturbing and unpleasant when sitting back to enjoy on a 4K 65" screen.
I would pay hundreds of dollars to a developper that would developp an addon to just simply replicate the default x-plane camera system in MSFS. If someone can hear my call...🙂 But thank you for the great content as alway Q8pilot!
No doubt. These camera views are dumb and overdone. One has to use decent camera view concepts in XP or P3D to know just how stupid these controls are.
I've been Xplane since XP8.. but earlier this year I bought an XboXseries to see what all the fuss was about.. it's absolutely awesome but this is what I really wanted/needed to see! thanks!
Another great show as usual thank you very much I have eight different types of planes and jets that I fly ,do I have to set views for each and every one of those different planes
The only thing that upsets me in the MSFS is when you are in the Showcase views, in a short time the horizon begins to start to rotate which means that you have to press the space bar to get everything level again.
Great video, but one question. You stated that the insert button toggles between cockpit mode and showcase mode. Then you said, let's hit the insert button to enter drone mode. Which is it?
Thank you for a really good video, it has helped me with the viewing system in MSFS. After coming from XP11/12 it was quite frustrating, but not now. 🙏
Be advised.. I had some issues with Yaw. Be sure to reset keyboard by loading another profile then going back. Probably best to use default keyboard and commands to see if everything works.
Is there still no way to save a drone camera view as one of the 10 "External" saved views? I know how to save cockpit camera views, with the CTRL+ALT key combo, but what about saving Drone camera views?
Great video! Is there any sort of flashing landing lights mod? A lot of times I will see 737s with flashing landing lights presumably to deter birds from approaching an aircraft.
There is some kind of bug going on right now with the sim. My Alt+Ctrl+1 to Alt+Ctrl+0 keyboard keys do not save the camera view. Alt+1 --> Alt+0 don't do anything for me. They worked in the past with no issue. I have made a post on the forum along with others that have this same issue. If you can think of some setting in Options or Keyboard Shortcuts that could make this work I would really appreciate it! Thanks for the excellent video.
For some reason, Ctrl+Alt+1 was not working. So, to fix it, I changed it to Shift+1 (a not used keystroke) and then Alt+1 started working! The other keys also started working too (2 through 0). No idea why, other than the system needed to reset itself. Weird, but it's fixed for me now. Thanks for the reply!
Great content. One question please. In your streams you can switch wing views instantly but when I do it (and in this video) the camera "travels" between views which is annoying. Did you find a trick or software to make the views change instantly. Many people might be helped by this. Thank you and Merry Christmas.
Thanks for the video! The camera system in msfs is definitely convoluted and kind of bad tbh, they should've just replicated x-planes, would love to invest in msfs, everything else about the sim is great, but controlling the camera is such a pain
Greetings, I have followed your camera and drone tutorial and almost everything works out, what I can't do is make the drone go up or down... the altitude moves me to the right, left, etc., but I can't to raise or lower the altitude. thank you so much. for your help, and thanks for the tutorial.
@@Q8Pilot I found it, thanks. But the speed of turning around the plane, I want to make it slower. How do I do that? By the way, greetings from the Netherlands
I Prefer to use a XBOX controller for the drone camera, and the problem I think with setting up customs views is that you have to remember what key numbers go with what views. It would be better if a user could label them, a bit like how XCamera on Xplane does it. I wish Asobo would upgrade this feature.
I don't have an xbox controller so this was intended as an alternative for those in the same shoes =). Asobo certainly can learn a few things from X-Plane developers.
Yeah, I don’t either. As far as views go, you can set the num pad to be like an aircraft. Left num pad for left side wing views and right side for right side of the aircraft, num 8 for copilot view, num 9 for copilot look right, num7 for FMC, num 2 for overhead. Num 0 for throttle/radio panel, num 5 for captain view. I the bind the wing views to yoke buttons. I have the Theustmaster Boeing Yoke, the right hand set of 4 thumb buttons get the left and right wing view looking back the engine and looking from behind the wing, right trigger is external view, press right hat switch to get back to captain view. I have a button set for drone camera as well. Pretty easy when you get it set up right.
@@Thrust-Set-Simulations I could do that representational viewing system on the numpad and had thought of that before, but its not the same or as good as X-Camera on Xplane which can configure and label many more views. For example I have 50 on the 737-800 Zibo and around 20 on other planes. As for the XBOX controller I think that is a matter of personal preference and have also used the keys on the keyboard. I can tell you that a XBOX controller is more enjoyable in my opinion. However, there is no wrong or right. USB XBOX controllers are very cheap, and just plug in to one of your PC USB ports, thats it.
Great video but it really is pathetic how ASOBO won't open up their camera APIs so that we can have amazing utilities like chaseplane create views more easily.
Well, this is what you get when a game is a console clone. How easy would it have been to just use WSAD + mouse. We need to know 30 buttons to use a cam control...aweful

You are most welcome, glad this was helpful.
I miss FSX so much! The views actually made sense, and there were so many options!

Can one use the numbers on the 10 key instead of the top for shortcuts?
Also can these shortcuts be done for the drone in showcase?
You can change the assignment yes.
Great information. Can you tell me what airport you were at? It looked beautiful.
Thank you!
Is it for you possible to write all this shortcuts here somewhere? Or...can i find it elsewhere?

Both. Insert will toggle the modes.
How did you get into the cabin without messing with the camera settings on the note pad?
Very helpful video. Thank you.
Thanks for watching my friend!
how did you phase through the walls in the cockpit, it wouldn't let me do that
Very helpful. Thank you.

This is the best tutorial how have to use drone camera mode. However, where is the IACO airfield? Thank you,
Not in every plane you can leave the cockpit just trsaspassing the door/walls, can you?
You are correct, not all planes allow you to do that. You can always delete the custom views for aircraft your can't modify and create your own.
Great video thanks

rather good tutorial and a quick overview on the drone camera..well done sir / left a discord message for you
Thanks! Wish FS2020 had as good a replay function as Xplane!
Hopefully this is coming in the SU10, I am not sure how good it is, but it would be hard to beat the X-Plane camera system.
I cant seem to get thru the cockpit door, regardless of aircraft. What am I doing wrong?

It depends which camera you are in. If you are in external mode using "A" to cycle it is instant. If you are in cockpit mode, it will transition.

R and F for up and down.
The drone camera rotates around the aircraft (from minute 6.34 to minute 6.49).

Why don’t you do tutorial on how to set up views with joystick… like the Logitech… and load from Simbrief or Navigraph into the FMC
I will consider it in the future. Thanks for making a suggestion.
