Dude. I follow you because I really like your content. Still, when I saw the title of this video, I hesitated. Most of these types of videos have the same type of stuff in them - needing to cut out sugar or sleeping 8 hours or staying away from negative people. This is fine but it really is stuff nearly everybody knows. Your video was truly 15 things that were useful and interesting. Thanks. Happy New Year 🥳
Rita Fields omg this is exactly what I thought, also the reason I didn’t watch this video at first when it was recommended to me, but these are actually good stuffs.
I agree with this comment 100%.
He is smart and generous, his students are very lucky.
Yes!!
Yeah i ignored the video for the same reason , surprised with the lessons
I come for the "Hey friends" at the start.
So you only stay for the first second of every video?
Daily highlight: make your day meaningful and much more energetic.
Gratitude: If this isn’t nice, I don’t know what is.
Try out: Window openers and door knockers. ( knowing the outcome?)
Sharing ideas: what is obvious to you is amazing to others.
Lifelong Learning.
The flywheel: handwork and consistency. take ages to get going, but once succeed you will be unstoppable. (Amazon)
Master boring fundamentals: exercise, proper sleep, eat healthy...doesn’t sound exciting at all, and the rewards doesn’t come immediately. But amazing things could happen
Type1 vs 2 fun: pure fun vs suffering in the present but feel good after finished. (Marathon)
FBR: writing without judging yourself on the first try! edit on your draft, improving your versions.
The reitoff principle: a necessary break can release your stress and free you from unnecessary guilty.
The mundanity of excellence: there is no short cut. Consistency, repeat the right thing is the key.
The go first rule: don’t be shy, break the ice and go first!!!
High leverage housekeeping: get everything organized periodically. Take some time to see the whole picture.
Inbox for your brain: get ideas? write it down!
The power of project lists: writing down your works.
a more succinct summary of the talk! such flow in your language! amazed..
Thank you very much
It's basicaly the concepts of martial arts.
Wish I could like this 10 times. And video 100 times.
tks
Love the attention to detail and your lack of bullshit. The best complement I ever get from people is my ability to be genuine. You seem so true to yourself on camera and in life and to share that and the knowledge that you have gained means a lot. So thank you so much for your time, kindness and candor.
Fully agree!
if i were his student for sure i would just keep staring at him thinking of how smart he his .
Me too.
Same ..
The only person on RUclips that makes me whip out my notepad and take notes as he's talking 😆. Thanks for the amazing video Ali
Me too. 🤣
For real 😆 same here
So true!
Yaa right
OMG me too!
Ali, While it was initially overwhelming to watch your content, the more I watched and re-watched, I realized how information-packed (and dare I say, wisdom-packed?) each of the videos are. You are doing TRULY great work. Thanks for sharing!
Also, yours is probably one of the most under-valued and under-subscribed RUclips channel out there. Will do my part to share it with my friends. Wish you the very best!
This is the best “lessons” video I’ve seen. It doesn’t have too many clichés and ones that are are presented in a new fresh manner. Also it’s so organized. So, thanks for the effort you put forth.
Thanx for sharing these 15 lessons... I saw ur video yasterday and today I practiced " Day highlight", "FBR" to write a paper I procrastinated on for over 2 weeks & "if this isn't nice I don't know what it is"...great day elhamdollah.Thank u again& keep going 👍🏾
Your 15 lessons are like 15 GB of life-changing values. Summed up very well in a short video. Personal appreciation for this video.
Absolutely.
I absolutely love the progress bar for each point. The quality of your videos makes them an absolute joy to watch!
Im a nurse in the NHS. You remind me of a few of the F1s Ive really enjoyed working with over the years, I don't know where they are now but yous are all just brilliant. And this channel is so awesome because this is basically a productivity channel. And you talk about Tim Ferriss as well: Pareto, Parkinsons, Batching, etc. This is how I get things done as well. Don't know if you agree with stoicism and fear setting but if u do u should make a video out of it. And selective ignorance too. I love Ferriss and his 17 Questions to beat the impossible.
Jim Collins' Good to Great is a must read! Try it. You'll like The Hedgehog Concept too.
Looking forward to checking out the second recommendation
I was just on your website and then saw the notification for this video, I think the 2 minute productivity rule is really cool
I had never heard anybody say “Amazon” with a British accent before. Thanks for that.

Ali, you have accomplished so much in your life so far. I have two young daughters and I can only hope that I can shape their lives so they enjoy learning as much as you do. You are truly inspiring! Keep up the fantastic content.
I am slowly learning that some people are not good for me, no matter how much I love them. I deserve someone who is gentle and kind because my soul is getting tired. Realizing that I deserve something good is one of the first steps.
Hey Ali, I am so grateful and thankful for bringing us all the information that has improved my academic career in a great way.Love your content and wanna thank you heartily for changing my life.
Love how genuine you are and doesn’t make it feel like you know it all and teaching people stuffs even though you are doing so. Amazing insightful content as always. Saving for future reference.
Hey Ali! I just wanted to say thank you for the amazing content! I had an anatomy exam today at the body donors and i always suffer from exam anxiety. Than i watch your videos and you are always so calm and knowledgeable and kind of a role model which makes me feel better and excited!! 🙂
You really are amazing and aspiring me to do great at medschool thank you!
Completely agree that it's hard to remember to enjoy the moment when it's happening! One of my goals is to appreciate the moment more rather than thinking about the next thing
The editing and overall little things about this video are next level! Thankyou for these tips
These lessons are awesome! I have been sharing your insights from your channel with my colleagues during daily stand-ups and actively getting groups to implement your productivity hacks/life lessons. This video summed the points up pretty nicely. Absolutely fantastic!
Hello ali , i just wanted to tell you thank you a million times you have changed the game for me in your how to study videos😭 it was really hard at the beginning but im very thankful for you 😭💓💓💓 sending you so much love & blessings
Lesson Number 2 is so important! We have to be more thankful! Great lessons!
Hi Ali! Don't ever apologize for rambling too long because I love listening to you. You've been such an inspiration to me the past days and I just want to thank you. Keep doing what you do❤️
I came to the channel wondering which iPad (pro) I should get, but stayed because I have been intrigued by self improvement for a while, and you seem to present the lifestyle I aim for. Thank you, for being who you are!
Just found your channel a few days ago and I'm getting a lot out of it. I appreciate your insight on time management and self improvement. Keep it up!
#4 really hit me. "What is obvious to you is amazing to others". I know I can be a ass about things very often, but I really should adopt this mindset.
Does anyone else find his light settings highly aesthetically satisfying
Thank you for sharing this, Ali! I'd really love to see even more videos in the future with ALL YOUR 'Life Principles' - both mindset-oriented(#4) and tactic-oriented(#13).
I love the "Wright off day", I've been practicing it lately to make sure I take a break in between learning days and it made me feel more relaxed and increased my productivity on learning days
I literally get astounded everytime I watch your videos. Your videos are all about productivity I really appreciate your work man you are amazing. Your videos reveal how you are passionate about productivity and thats really good. Keep doing such great work. Pretty inspiring.
I am watching your videos at a stretch for 2 hours!really loved them.Thank you.I am really grateful towards you from my heart.
thanks ali!! really gratitude to find this channel early
Omg thank you for that lifelong study! My brand is about being a polymath, which entails that you're going to learn all life; BUT I really try and encourage any person to pursue the lifelong learning ideal.
Also love the yellow progress bar for each segment. Great way-finding tool!
It's so cute when you're all tech and know it all and suddenly you have that smile and blush as soon as you get off what you remember and get on to your own addition to the content
So much respect for this guy. Can't wait to stumble upon your research papers in the future! Rooting for you! :)
Just wanted to drop a comment on here and say I've recently stumbled across your channel and have been really enjoying checking out your catalog of content. Super helpful and applicable no matter what aspects of life you are wanting to improve. Thank you for what you do.
Ok, I could listen to you talk all day. Is that weird? You have an awesome voice, have a great speaking style/talent and you are speaking about amazing, worthwhile ideas - the trifecta of a great speaker. Congrats sir!
Love this video. Thank you for taking the time to make this. All this was common scene to you, but there were a few I'd never heard of at all.
Fantastic! I'm a final year student of medicine in Brazil and I appreciate so much your youtube channel.
So many good pointers in this video! I might find myself back here, again and again, to remind and refresh myself with these lessons.
I am a first year medicine student in South Africa and your videos literally changed my entire approach to school and its definitely been helpful. Thank you so much
Tqsm Ali, for such an awesome video.! Especially for "The mundanity of excellence" lesson!!
Loved the Flywheel analogy because we all know this but it's a simple way to remind yourself when you are in the beginning of something new that is a lot of hard work.
This is not just the 15 life lessons Ali Abdaal learned in 2019, it is also brilliant compilation of the works of writers we might not have come across before. I particularly like the one about The Flywheel. Thank you Ali.
I LOVE your videos. Very well structured, organised, straight to the point, became a RUclips fan mainly because of you. Well done!
Oh Ali.. You are such a gift to this world. I really enjoyed your content. I have discovered you 3 days ago, and I thank God for that coincidence. I watched this video with a smile on my face. That was amazing. Thank you for that. There were many things that touched to my heart and gave me a power to do things in a different way. I wish all the best for you:)
I am so happy I found your channel! This video is simply amazing! Thank you for quality content!
Hi Ali, I might be the last person to watch this but this has really got me so inspired. Came across so much of the life advice I have been looking for. Thank you very much doc!
These points are very useful and I'm gratefull for the point 4, because I always understimate myself and also I'm trying to include some of these ideas in an agenda I make for myself, so daily highlight and the fundametals are things I will try to incorporate. Thank you Ali
Love it! All your videos are so high quality and just different from the rest, like I actually learn something every single time. This list would be useful for me to "high leverage housekeep" my life in preparation for 2020 lol. Looking forward to more videos from you this year!
Happy I watched this video! You seem to be great at teaching Ali. Have a nice ability to breakdown concepts into fun, simple units. Great work
Hi Ali. I just really wanted to give a genuine comment about all of these life advice. I tried applying nearly all of these for, only like, a week now but the improvements in my daily life were remarkable. I feel like this was my much needed stepping stone to increasing productivity and improving my state of mind. I especially loved 'if this isn't nice...', the flywheel and high leverage housekeeping (best one, kudos to your bro). I'm still struggling with AR and spaced repetition lol but I wanna say thanks man. Thank you for introducing me to such incredible concepts that I didn't know would tremendously aid me to be a better person. I am not bullshitting you. Genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
It may seem like a single video to you but to me, these are now phrases I will utter under my breath when I get taken down by waves of anxiety and insecurity. Much love.
- A med student.
love your editing style!! the points on the screen throughout help a lot!
I’m late to this party but wow, this guy is probably the best RUclipsr I’ve come across.
To the point
Funny
No dribble
Genuine personality and not that fake ass ‘Hiiiiiii, welcome to my chanaaaallll’ 🤮
Love his content!
So making my kids watch him.
Thank you Ali.
I love how you explained where you got each idea! thank you
Thanks for sharing these with us. Excellent genuine contents. Diligent and inspiring, you are a role model.
I've just discovered your channel a few days ago and it's really inspiring and helpful! I'm amazed of how quickly you talk :P not a bad thing at all, and man the daily thing to focus sounds so refreshing I need to try it. Thanks for sharing
I experienced several “lightbulb” moments during this video.
u r one of a kind ali, watching ur videos for 30 mts is equal to reading 10 books... i learned so much from u, thank u:)
This is great thanks for all of the links, have just subscribed to your newsletter, can’t wait to see more of your content
Hey Ali. You probably won't see this but I'm doing my Gcse's this year and you are a great inspiration. Thanks.
The lesson of Window openers vs Door knockers really made me aware. Thank you. That's been rather valuable.
You got yourself a subscriber. This is my kind of channel. Best of luck!
Ali! I found your channel through your Skillshare course on productivity which I am enjoying a lot. I am also SUPER inspired by your content on here and really appreciate the amount of work and level of detail that you pour into every single video. thanks for all your efforts! I hope I will be able to bring the same level of value to my subscribers as I grow my currently very little channel :)
Your videos are different and actually real...no misleading thumbnails...love your accent...you’re gonna go a long way man
I think this is one of best videos about lessons learned in 2019. It is just full of helpful lessons. Thanks.
I've never heard of " The Flywheel" concept. Thank you for this!
I love that you mentioned that sometimes things look so obvious to us but are expected to other. I' ve been thinking about this lately.. and brain inbox is great. I feel like my brain has certain capacity to store information and work on it during the day. So I decided to remove everything from my life that gives useless information ,like social media or negative news. Clearing my mind helps me to study and achieve what I want.
Hey Ali, this was probably the most helpful video to date that I have seen from you. The amount of knowledge that you share is tremendous, and I thank you for the work that you do. Keep up the good work!! And thanks again :D
This is a great video! Well done Ali. You are killing it here on RUclips, it's super inspiring!
One thing I've started in 2020 is watching your videos. Actually inspired me to start my own channel.
Just discovered you. Great video, greatly produced, you are very likable and I find your life lessons truly valuable. Had several aha moments during the video, so thank you very much!
Hiya its not waffle it's great stuff. I love it so keep going. I'm a careers adviser so I'm always helping people reach their goals and analysing what will make them happy. I do all those mundane things sleep, eat, exercise but do it in clubs (well healthy eating...slimming world, joined a private gym,do regular classes so I make gym friends, bookclub etc). It keeps me committed but love it as its all social. Loving your work. Makes me want to start youtubing as I too have a research based waffle style!
I just took note of this video! Thank you Ali, you are my favorite RUclipsr of 2019:)
that loading is genius Ali pls put your every possible video
Awesome, Ali! Thanks for sharing this. I’ll put some of those ideas into practice.
Love the yellow progress bar at the bottom, brilliant!
I love the looking out the window, and door knocker anology. Thanks!
Excellent Ali. All ideas were new to me. You’ve got a new fan!
I stumbled onto your channel. I'm in love! You are so smart and personable! I love your content, and have found so much value in it! Thank you, Ali!!
I never comment on videos, decided to start watching stuff whilst I create art and I have to say I just love you! the honesty, the speed you talk the passion, everything! keeping being you.
Throughout the whole video I'm thinking about the first point : daily highlight. And I still don't think of one. I hope you could make a video about how to find/creat daily highlights. 😂
Exactly, I keep finding trouble of having my "most important tasks" on my daily planner.
Everything seems important to do, and so I usually set a trap to myself of being falsely productive.
Albert Sekava you are right!this video makes me think about it a lot, it certainly is today's highlight
how about the fact that you lived? your heart managed to circulate blood all throughout your body and your lungs worked to make it possible for you to breath. or maybe that you have the fingets to type this comment? lol
Forget all about the other things and take one of these important things that you need to do and make that your highlight of the day
Starting this changed my life. I usually set it as running or meditating, but sometimes it’s a fun thing for work or dinner or even just putting on a few episodes of tv. The book is amazing and is like $5 on Amazon. Totally changed my life!
Hands down best video editing on RUclips! Hats off to you!
I'm almost watching your videos on a daily basis. I feel like your my best friend now :) I'm actually taking a note at notion from your video. thank you for sharing brother!
Hi Ali! It's amazing that you provide the yellow bar to show the length of each topic!
I feel like i read 15 books in 23 minutes. Thank you for sharing i really needed this today. God bless you
Your content is excellent. RUclips has been suggesting your videos to me every day and I finally started watching. Everything you share is spot on. I’m excited to implement everything on this list especially the daily Highlight and the flywheel. Thank you for sharing!
I have been a fan of Kurt Vonnegut for a few years now. It was nice to see you quote him. I came across this quote in 'Palm Sunday', I think - his autobiographical collection.
I recently found you. I enjoy watching your videos. Thank you very much for making these great videos.
Gonna add your 2019 lessons to my resolutions list. Really appreciate the informative and entertaining videos Ali. 😁
Awesome video - thanks so much - so many great tips in a short amount of time. Leads to so many questions though haha.
