  • This is a walking tour of East Village, New York. We start our walk at Union Square (14th street/4th Ave) and we walk to Bleecker Street. I am joined by Dana Beal, long time cannabis activist and co-founder of the Yippies.
Dana gives us a tour of the original headquarters of the Yippie Times (Bleecker street) area and discusses historic aspects of the East Village.
"The East Village is a neighborhood on the East Side of Lower Manhattan in New York City, United States. It is roughly defined as the area east of the Bowery and Third Avenue, between 14th Street on the north and Houston Street on the south.[2] The East Village contains three subsections: Alphabet City, in reference to the single-letter-named avenues that are located to the east of First Avenue; Little Ukraine, near Second Avenue and 6th and 7th Streets; and the Bowery, located around the street of the same name." - Wikipedia
"Dana Beal (born January 9, 1947, in Ravenna, Ohio) is an American social and political activist, best known for his efforts to legalize marijuana and to promote the benefits of Ibogaine as an addiction treatment. He is a founder and long-term activist in the Youth International Party (Yippies), and founded the Yipster Times newspaper in 1972. The Yipster Times was renamed Overthrow in 1978, and ended publication in 1989." - Wikipedia
