Im an Irish catholic and felt bad when Chomsky stated he had a, albeit "irrational", fear of the Catholics in his neighborhood but could also see why also and I think practicing or "practicing" Catholics need to be more understanding and , and this is very important, be able to reasonably debate their beliefs. Furthermore, I've always loved the Jewish culture(not out of pity but actual real admiration, some only respect Jews post ww2 but not for their intellectual thought) and sorry that the irish Catholics in his neighborhood did not respect him,or other minorities. For me, I see my history as a colonial experience that informs me. Many Irish separate that history from other post English colonial states but I don't. I think it's consistent to have an idea of identifying myself as a Catholic Irish with an anti colonial sentiment with a sympathy for the other post colonial states(India,Pakistan etc). Many irish today separate their history from India for example. This is inconsistent with the real experience, rights struggles and beliefs. Have the Irish become anglophiled? It was a matter of time (maybe) before the Americans and Russians defeated the Nazis. That’s a very different thing to the survival of Britain. If Germany would have turned on Britain in anything like the way it did the Soviet Union it could have utterly destroyed Britain. Look at the damage the Luftwaffe did to Britain. Chomsky says about Iran applies universally : if a country is threatened from a foreign adversary, as Iran is threatened by the US, it will take a defensive attitude toward that country and tend to be authoritarian domestically. So, it makes sense, then, that the threatening country, like the US, will propagandize its aggressive stance to its own population about lack of democracy in the country it threatens. This can apply to US current relations with Russia, China and other countries the US threatens.
Then why does almost every middle east nation fear Iran and want it's nuclear program stopped. Why is it that Iranian leaders and many citizens routinely scream "death to America"? This Chomsky
I agree with Noam Chomsky on a lot of topics. However, his opinion on 9/11 is completely off-touch. The amount of evidence is simply too much for all of it to have been a coincidental. Perhaps it is his lack of an engineering background what holds him back from seeing the evidence. The perfect, symmetric freefall speeds of tower 1 and 2. The collapse of building 7, which wasn't hit by a plane of any kind. The lack of photographic and physical evidence at the Pentagon. 40 to 100 tons of Aluminium, composites, fabric, titanium, you name it. It all vaporized upon hitting the Pentagon on one side and exiting out of the other, apart from a few mismatched aircraft parts before the first impact wall. In regards to the argument that leaks would've happened. Countries have been able, throughout history, to cover-up a lot of plots for a very long time. Yes, this plot was of unprecedented grandeur, but, nevertheless, there are countless precedents. Countries such as Britain still have WW2 archives locked away. I am not talking about technological papers. Those have a reason to be inaccessible. Russia has countless documents still locked away from its Soviet days. We still argue about who set fire to the Reichstag in Germany. I could go on and on...
Your lack of an engineering background + your inability to trust the experts in their respective engineering fields causes you not to see the evidence. Keep that same energy the next time your toilet or sink is leaking or electrical wiring is wrong in your house. Go with the least trusted contrarian in the market to tackle those problems 🍿

The hatred of the Jews is demonically led because Jesus was a Jew and will return as the Lion of the Tribe of JUDAH. Through the Jews salvation and the Bible came to all mankind who will believe. No other explanation for such hatred of a tiny people group can ever make sense. They are God's chosen, they strayed away, God will soon show the world his grace and mercy towards them and will destroy all evil countries that gather against Israel in the soon Russian led alliance against them. This is the real reason for the current Ukraine war. To prepare for the great Gog and Magog war of Ezekiel ch37, 38. I feel like I'm a kid in the 2000s again watching this. The graphics and music are still rooted in the 90s but the video quality feels more modern, and the remorse around 9/11 and the war in iraq
I’m grateful for this man for all he has done.
Sounds like an interrogation! Interviewer is about as warm and friendly as a weekend in Guantanamo
Yeah I thought a panel of personalities were interviewing him.
true i think hes the boss of cspan tho and the final boss too i guess
That's Brian Lamb. Founder of cspan
It is an interrogation
Gets the job done, though! I wonder what they said to eachither during the breaks.
About the Media: " The choice of topics, the shaping of information, the basic assumptions, and so on fall within a fairly narrow spectrum which tends to be highly supportive of state and corporate power." -Noam Chomsky
This interviewer is asking Noam Chomsky "when he went to MIT and why" like he was interrogating a suspect of homicide
Guilty as charged, went to school.
Hey ease off Brian Lamb, he’s like that with everyone, it’s just his style.
Absolutely! Since Chomsky is not a staunch right winger the inflection of Lamb’s voice and his line of question ing are not very “nice”
MIT is an offshoot of the Pentagon.
I think so, but O haven't! Can only speak for myself. Love chomsky

This man was doing podcasts even before they were a thing
How could someone do podcasts before they were a thing?
@@michaelcrabtree1647
You’re an intelligent man - how about antedating a present day podcast to a date in the past preferred/chosen by the interrogators/podcast crew to cover up a brutal crime they purposely committed, filmed and released on RUclips as proof of their sick bravado & twisted beliefs in their unquestioned hold/control on social media and to other people they victimise because they perceive them as dangerous threats to their reckless uncontrolled evil deeds!
EDIT: 31 Jan 2021
The criminals had since pulled out the incriminating video/podcast I mentioned above from the date I originally made this comment and replaced it with several, not just one, cover up videos, in their desperate hope that they can get away Scot free.
Americans should honour this man as a national treasure.
This man is now 94 or 95. Quite a remarkable man, Insightful with great intellectual, political and cultural acuity.
According to “Noam Chomsky” by John Lyons, he was born on December 7, 1928. So he is 94.
Very good professor Naom Chomsky...
its crazy how informed those people are who are asking uestion even in 2003 today you dont see that even with the massive social media
Thank you! Stay tuned.
I find it very disgusting and quite disgracefull that there are not more interviews like this of Prof. Noam Chomsky by the US media, this is a fantastic interview which honors him deservedly 🌹 Prob the best along with ' Interview on Language and Knowledge (1977)' ' CBC Hot Type Evan Solomon interviews Noam Chomsky on his book 9/11 ' and that masterfull Buckley duel deserves a mention obviously✌️😁
It's easy to forger that this is 2003, when callers like the guy at (approx.) an hour and thirty-seven minutes really believed that a missile hit the Pentagon and the towers collapsed because of an internal controlled explosion. Chomsky is very kind in his polite dismissal of that stuff.
I just wish we had leaders like him in power. We'd have a different world, and one I would like to see happen one day.
Great questions.
At 2:32:11, the rising tide raises all boats analogy from a caller made Noam crack a smile. The voice of the caller sounded to me a lot like the comedian Al Franken, but I am probably wrong about that. Also, the very next caller sounded to me a whole lot like Dennis Kucinich.
Interesting how great men like Professor Chomsky generally come from good loving close families, while horrible authoritarians narcissistic monsters often come from broken families where they never received important parental love and care…

Thank you in advance!
I think this is just something made by C-Span to fill the air waves. I don't get any artist/name when using an app that identifies music by sound.
Piers Morgan is everything I hate about mainstream politics. Anything against the grain of HIS ideology means he takes his stab at calling someone out for being an apologist. It’s ridiculous. What’s more ridiculous, is his fidgeting while Chomsky is talking, interrupting him and totally changing the topic to his personal life… Loved how Chomsky had to remind him with every answer, to paraphrase, “first, let’s start with the facts.”
I don't want bruise your ears
Or hurt you again
But I got back-stabbed by a black cab
When I needed a friend
[Verse 1]
Now I'm in town, break it down, thinkin' of making a new sound
Playing a different show every night in front of a new crowd
That's you now, ciao, seems that life is great now
See me lose focus as I sing to you loud
And I can't, no, I won't hush
I'll say the words that make you blush
I'm gonna sing this now (Oh, oh)
See, I'm true, my songs are where my heart is
I'm like glue, I stick to other artists
I'm not you, now, that would be disastrous
Let me sing and do my thing and move to greener pastures
See, I'm real, I do it all, it's all me
I'm not fake, don't ever call me lazy
I won't stay put, give me the chance to be free
Suffolk sadly seems to sort of suffocate me
[Chorus]
'Cause you need me, man, I don't need you
You need me, man, I don't need you
You need me, man, I don't need you at all
You need me, man, I don't need you
You need me, man, I don't need you

I sing and write my own tune and I write my own verse, hell
Don't need another wordsmith to make my tunes sell
Call yourself a singer-writer, you're just bluffin'
Name's on the credits and you didn't write nothin'
I sing fast, I know that all my shit's cool
I will blast and I didn't go to BRIT School
I came fast with the way I act, right
I can't last if I'm smokin' on a crack pipe
And I won't be a product of my genre
My mind will always be stronger than my songs are
Never believe the bullshit that fake guys feed to ya
Always read the stories that you hear in Wikipedia
And musically, I'm demonstratin'
When I perform live, feels like I am meditating
Times at the enterprise when some fella filmed me

'Cause with the lyrics, I'll be aimin' it right
I won't stop till my name's in lights at stadium heights with Damien Rice
On red carpets, now, I'm on Arabian Nights
Because I'm young, I know my brother's gonna give me advice
Long nighter, short height and I'd gone hyper
Never be anything but a singer-songwriter, yeah
The game's over, but now, I'm on a new level
Watch how I step on the track without a loop pedal
People think that I'm bound to blow up
I've done around about a thousand shows, but
I haven't got a house, plus, I live on a couch
So you believe the lyrics when I'm singin' them out
Wow, from day one, I've been prepared
With V05 wax for my ginger hair
So now, I'm back to the sofa
Givin' a dose of what the future holds 'cause it's another day
Plus, I'll keep my last name forever, keep this genre pretty basic
Gonna be breakin' into other people's tunes when I chase it
And replace it with the elephant in the room with a facelift
Slipping into another rapper's shoes usin' new laces
I'm sellin' CDs from my rucksack aimin' for the papers
Sellin' CDs from my rucksack aimin' for the majors
Nationwide tour with Just Jack, still had to get the bus back
Clean cut kid without a razor for the moustache
I hit back when the pen hurts me
I'm still a choir boy in a Fenchurch tee
I'm still the same as a year ago, but more people hear me, though
According to the MySpace and RUclips videos
I'm always doin' shows, if I'm not, I'm in the studio
Truly broke, never growin' up, call me Rufio
Melody music maker, readin' all the papers
They say I'm up and comin' like I'm fucking in an elevator
[Chorus]
'Cause you need me, man, I don't need you
You need me, man, I don't need you
You need me, man, I don't need you at all
You need me, man, I don't need you
You need me, man, I don't need you
You need me, man, I don't need you
You need me, man, I don't need you at all

CSPAN is Great!
State the interviewer's name in the description
And now having the benefit of being 19 years in the future from when this interview was conducted, we know that the lack of WMDs meant absolutely nothing and had absolutely ZERO consequences. I'm surprised Chomsky did not predict this.

Less than 1000 total comments/rankings on this 3 hour whirlwind tour, while the most base pop music video might have millions of views... is it any wonder political change, social change, and progress for the entire human race seems so far away?
Chomsky shoud debat more religious problems and the role of the US via others poors countries
Much as I respect him, can´t agree with him in labelling Operation Northwood as a contingency plan. It was not a "what if" plan seeking oportunism. It was an actual proposal to by active action shape the global geopolitical ground. His concious dismissal displays his willingness to avoid an honest openminded debate about 9/11. Even his bodylanguage changes each time the topic is brought up. Even if in this instance and subject he acts as sort of a gatekeeper, I still agree with him in 99% of his thought regarding other topics.
Because Mossad was involved.
On Dec. 8th, 1941, the survival of Britain was not in doubt; 90% of the world's people and resources were allied against the Axis, it was now only a matter of time" - Winston Churchill's "History of WWII".
And it was never a priority for the Nazis. Imagine if it would have become that.

What Barack is he referring to in relation to bill clinton if this was in 2003?
He's referring to Ehud Barak, then-PM of Israel
In another interview, Chomsky talks of the Ehud-Clinton proposal, which is more or less about their discussions with Yasser Arafat at Camp David
Ever notice or get the impression the world is ruled with a whip and people are so used to it
Not just used to it. They prefer it. Most people are inclined to believe what they are told since they're not intelligent enough to imagine something better.
No. It's ruled by people without a whip, and you follow willingly.

Not physical whip but mind - frequent mind control. Beware of what you’re listening to or what interests you - it will be weaponised against you. That’s how people, no matter how highly educated/successful in their life may be, it matters not to the neoliberals because to them - they are the privileged and nothing/no one will ever be their equal; they are the “creme de la creme” of society - this is how the so called ZOMBIES are treated/shown to know where they belong in society by the crazed group!
@@mindabobis7601 Does what you tell me also apply to you? Of course, you know what the word "neoliberal" means and you're highly educated, yes? That means you have to be careful, too.
@@michaelcrabtree1647
What do you mean, I have to be careful too? - I’m just verbalising a truth which is tolerated or accepted by the victims blindly due to their lack of knowledge on how to free themselves from their unending subjugation by the ruling elite. What would you do or feel if you are one of them or they are your family/related to you or close family friends; will you just be content to turn a blind eye to such injustice for the rest of your life? We no longer live in the feudal ages; every citizen have constitutional rights and maybe, bringing awareness of the unnecessary plight enforced on people might draw attention from the true libertarians/freedom minded members of govt/society who can seriously take action to ease the pervasive sadness/hopelessness you can smell/detect from these silent victims.
It would be great if we all, regardless of colour/status in society, or whatever, will voluntarily acknowledge our responsibility to engage intellectually with the constitutionally elected government leaders to look at the prevailing norms of living in their respective communities and conscientiously enforce the proper constitutional law for any situation.

What?
Nothing happens by accident
Your lack of an engineering background + your inability to trust the experts in their respective engineering fields causes you not to see the evidence.
Keep that same energy the next time your toilet or sink is leaking or electrical wiring is wrong in your house. Go with the least trusted contrarian in the market to tackle those problems 🍿

His inconsistencies in economic matters proves he is so far off target. An example is his support of Chavez where he openly made a statement that praised him but when the situation went sour he claims he didn't support Chavez's policies. So right away, he avoids giving ANY real examples of anti-semitism he actually experienced? Why is that Noam? He just makes some general reference to "reading about it" lol. That's really odd. Why would he dodge that question? And he DID dodge it.
He may be a renowned linguist and darling of computer scientists, but his politics show him to be a stereotypical pacifist fop.

Also - he answered most of those questions regarding 9/11..
He didnt see any evidence yet confirming the government planned or assisted in the attacks.

Dont think he changed his few alot since this interview.
But he seems annoyed by all those questions indicating a bigger conspiracy without any proof.
I get that this topic was still 'fresh' for the callers but i guess he knows (to this day) alot more true, proofable and currently still happening crimes against innocent/the public - that dont get the attention they deserve.
