This is Eddie Levert who is Gerald and Sean’s dad. It’s so sad to both of his sons passed at the age of 40 (2006 and 2008). Eddie is 79 and still performing with the O’Jays. I saw the O’Jays in concert in 2019 and they sounded as good as they ever have.

      It ain't Eddie by himself.

Actually, the first lead is Walter Williams. He and Eddie are one of the greatest 1-2 combinations in R&B history.

I appreciate the younger generation enjoying these great memories and excellent craftsmanship of that era, but I would really appreciate if you did some historical research on these artist and other artists and maybe educate your generation on their history and lineage. This would make for better in-depth creativity when you have factual information to share😊

Everyone talkin about Eddie Levert yes indeed, but don’t forget about Walt Williams, both were truly legendary singers and performers, both made The O’Jays the legendary group, still performing to this day!

The mighty, mighty O'Jays as Don Cornelius used to introduce them on Soul Train were one of the biggest groups of the 7o's. Along with Tavares, the Spinners, Earth, Wind and Fire, the Temptations, Kool and the Gang, the Ohio Players, and the Jackson 5ive. But these guys stood out from the rest by recognizing the problems within our society. The message in their music. BACK STABBERS, FOR THE LOVE OF MONEY, SURVIVAL, GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT, PUT YOUR HANDS TOGETHER, and I LOVE MUSIC, provide a small sample of the songs that you dance to and made you think. They kicked off their chart success with LOVE TRAIN, a positive endorsement of something we all need. And it got better and better from there. Enjoy.
