I was feeling very down and trapped because I thought I could never use my language knowlege for myself and/or others. I worked as a medical interpreter in Peru (Spanish/English) for LLS as well, but we are so underpaid here and exploited. I worked 48 hours a week and got paid 1800 soles (around 460 dollars), ended with burn-out since calls were back to back, and tinnitus. If you are someone sensitive to sounds or just in general, do not recommend this job, it was the worst job experience I've ever had in my entire life.

    • @AlonsoAndreGS
      @AlonsoAndreGS Год назад +25

      Hola yo también trabajé para LLS (Aquí en Perú). y creo que nuestros pagos son bastante bajos, debido a que se trabaja por medio de Int3rpr3ti1@). Lo cual podemos deducir que al ser ellos el medio... entonces evidentemente se quedan un % de nuestros incomes. Btw, puedo decir que los pagos eran bajísimos y como bien indicas las llamadas son consecutivas no tienes tiempo ni de respirar o reponerte de la última llamada. Teniendo en cuenta que al menos (personalmente) el de QA tenía un trato de verdad poco empático y un etc de cosas, tampoco fue una experiencia del todo buena para mí. Y por cierto curiosamente rara era la vez que llegaba a 1,600 (era un milagro) no se como pero trabajaba todas mis horas pero ni aún así sobrepasada los 1,300. Saludos!

    I work for lls in Brazil, and 605 dollars is what I earn a month working 7h a day. I can get through the month, and honestly many jobs don't pay that much, but I still think I should earn more for this job. It's a really important job and you are required to have high proficiency in both languages, being fluent is not enough, you need to be able to convey a message within seconds after listening to it in another language, being careful as not to alter its tone and meaning.
    Well, I guess it is what it is.

    Depending on where you live (i.e. Western/Northern Europe, North America), 14.40 isn't that much. I.e. if you work 40h a week, that's 2300 pounds BEFORE taxes. To get to her 3000 (again, before taxes), you'd need to work 52h/week. So, as a student, a nice student job (as most other student jobs pay less) in particular as it doesn't require previous experience, or if you live in a country where that's a good salary, but if you live in North/Western Europe/North America it's too low for a good living. I'm a bit disappointed that language skills are usually so little valued.

    You mentioned you make around £2700-£3000 pounds a month, so that would mean you work around 52 hours a week. How do you manage that during medical school???? You’re so inspiring
