@@michealwilliams472 Yeah, and it's not even the intentional type, but instead the self-deception type. At least that's what I want to believe, because he is a nice guy with no malice, but he is not looking good. Destiny is being really charitable.
He's fallen into an appeal to authority fallacy. These "experts" he references, are not experts of the actual subject, and not even an "academic" by most honest academic opinions. So many on the left are misguided by these "expert" opinions. I also think that it's such an accepted political truth on the left at the moment, that people are afraid to be objective because they don't want to be "genocidal monsters".
The fact that Lycan is so persistent despite repeatedly having his "facts" shown to say otherwise, asserting source material he didn't even read or understand, gas-lighting Destiny like he is being unreasonable for not agreeing it's illegal when it hasn't been deemed illegal by an actual authority, is very hard to watch. Lycan isn't really honestly engaging with a lot of what Destiny says, he has like a circuit breaker where it trips a fuse before it can even become a cognitive dissonance situation.

the one BIG significant of the Benet-Lapid coalition of 2022, besides being a coalition of both left-leaning and right-leaning parties, is that it was the first israeli government that had an arab-israeli party in the coalition: Raam, led by Mansour Abas.

"in whole or in part" doesn't mean if you kill some people then it is genocide. I'm almost certain that phrase in the definition indicates that genocide must be the intent and whether it is successful is irrelevant.
I'm not convinced on intent to commit genocide for this reason...Another way of saying 15K have died is to say 2,285,000 people have been spared. I think that that alone proves the case that they are NOT bombing indiscriminately.

    • @puraLusa
      @puraLusa 7 месяцев назад

Israel is definatelly over bombing - its to pressure hamas into surrender (doesn't work), and it's to instill fear in gazans: cause average gazan is anti-jew (indoctrination) so israel goes by the theory: people who don't know respect can be managed by fear. In that instance, it's a clear abuse of power.

    • @matsab7930

Yeah the argument is seriously braindead. Just look at the numbers and it’s immediately obvious that this not a genocide. It literally makes no sense, and I must assume anyone making these claims to be stupid.

Both parties agree that they will submit the issue to an arbitrator and agree to abide by the decision of that arbitrator, which is made in accordance with laws (technically an arbitrator doesn't have to follow laws, but they say they do so whatever), that doesn't mean that literally anything the UN has previously said about a specific issue will even be taken into consideration.

In 1948, Israel declared its independence, meaning that by the accepted legal principle of Uti Possidetis Juris, the new state inherited the same borders as British Mandatory Palestine, which came before it. Importantly, Palestine did not declare statehood when Israel did. Rather, they handed their fate to invading armies drawn from surrounding Arab states. If the Palestinians had declared independence, then the two forces would have most likely fought for the power to govern the new state with borders set by the mandate. However, that legal fight for governance never occurred. Therefore, the rule of international law that is used to determine the borders of all new countries, Israel is the only successor entity to the mandate.

From During 2014-2016, the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) published a monthly magazine called Dabiq. This is part from the 15th issue….
“We hate you for invading our lands and fight you to repel you and drive you out. As long as there is an inch of territory left for us to reclaim, jihad will continue to be a personal obligation on every single Muslim.
What’s important to understand here is that although some might argue that your foreign policies are the extent of what drives our hatred, this particular reason for hating you is secondary, hence the reason we addressed it at the end of the above list. The fact is, even if you were to stop bombing us, imprisoning us, torturing us, vilifying us, and usurping our lands, we would continue to hate you because our primary reason for hating you will not cease to exist until you embrace Islam. Even if you were to pay jizyah and live under the authority of Islam in humiliation, we would continue to hate you.”
It’s worth reading, the whole article.

Now it's so bizzare seeing him live up to all that "unfair" criticism. It's like he's become the bad caricature of himself that people made him out to be.

    2 things:
    1. Something I don’t really hear pushed back on (except from the Native American TikToker “ryanknowsthings”) is how the Palestinians are NOT indigenous to the region - NONE of the Arab lineages are. THEY were the first colonizers in that region, while the Jewish ethnogenesis occurred in that land. When someone takes the side of the Islamists, the Sunni, the Jihadists, Hamas, or any other Arabic groups trying to reestablish a caliphate / Islamic State, they are taking the side of history’s most prolific and successful colonizers. The Muslims did it before any of the Whites, and they were better at it.
    2. In your discussion w/ Lycan at the end, am I correct in my own takeaway that, while personal and even somewhat formal deliberations on legality can be very well informed and even have great sway, in the case of something so specifically contentious and spurious as War Crimes, THE authoritative body in charge of deliberating on War Crimes should be the voice we wait on hearing from rather than preemptively setting our own conclusions in stone? Like, is the reason why you are so belligerently reluctant to say Israel DID do a war crime specifically because War Crimes (hence your analogy of Felonies) are so serious that you consider waiting on THE authoritative voice the most ethical/safe position to take?

Fun Fact: The British were not pro Arab or pro Jew. They were pro British.
Their interests lied in the oil resources in the region as well as the Suez Canal, which were all in Arab lands (Israel has no oil) so the British, while they embargoed Israel in the 1948 war, they actually supplied arms, training and support to Egypt and Jordan. British interest were closer to Arab interests in 1948.
Fun Fact #2: Israel is systemically oppressed at the UN, denied it's rights as a full member state.
The UN works by assigning different countries from regional groups to represent said groups in different commissions, committees and councils. Israel geographically should be in the Asia regional group but Arab and Muslim countries blocked it from joining. Mind you, even BOTH North and South Korea are in this regional group, as well as India and Pakistan. The blocking of Israel from this regional group means that Israel is the sole UN Member State IN THE WORLD that is not in an official regional group, even though as a block the US allowed Israel into the US/Europe group, but Israel still cannot represent the US/Europe regional group in UN Councils.
This makes Israel INELLIGABLE for the UN Human Rights Council, UN Security Council, and any other multinational Councils the UN May have. So far, Israel is the only country in UN history to have this happen to it. This means UN Human Right Councils full of totalitarian dictatorships can make rulings on Israel while Israel has no recourse to defend itself at these bodies. Blatant anti-Jewish racism and systemic oppression.

When Vaush calls himself a Libertarian, remember that he has a positive conception of liberty. He's not being dishonest (this time), he just defines liberty differently than is common in liberal societies.
And to be fair, positive libertarians have existed longer than the negative libertarians common today.

Netanyahu only went into conflicts when forced, mostly when Hamas did something so abhorrent that the general public could not overlook it.

From my understanding, Destiny and Lycan both misinterpreted that quote about the UN. The UN doesn't make judgements about legality or anything like that, that quote was describing that the UN can be used as a dispute resolution platform by conflicting states if they both agree to it. Both states have to agree to follow the UN ruling, they both have to choose to go to the UN for this, and it's just dispute resolution, not a legal ruling. For example, if Russia and Ukraine underwent this, the UN ruling might be that Russia should give back annexed territory and both states should agree to a peace plan, but the UN couldn't actually rule that the annexation was illegal, and it can't actually force either state to agree to a peace plan.
In relation to Israel and Palestine, this is completely irrelevant because Palestine isn't a UN member state, and Israel would never agree to have the UN be the overseeing body in a dispute resolution process. The Oslo Accords were facilitated by Norway and the US, not the UN, because of these reasons. The UN can only make rulings where it is invited to do so by the involved states, and they are not legal rulings.

The one thing that’s always concretely dissuaded me from accepting or siding with the far left is the bastardizing and dissolving of language that only serves their interests. Like slowly broadening terms that are associated with the literal worst acts on Earth to get moderates to feel more emboldened to see anyone center or right of center as being as close to a nazi racist as possible. It’s actually very akin to what nazis did ironically. They went on massive campaigns to warp more nuanced language to turn it into something where common folk has no choice but to see the enemy as a direct moral threat to their prosperity.
Yes this happens on the far right too. But it’s far worse right now with leftists.

@@djwestbrook36 : Umm Arab aggression, being surprise attacked on each side by Arab nations because they didn’t like the treaty everyone agreed to and thought they would instead steal Israel’s land militarily instead in a joint effort to expel Israeli’s from their land. Also a year prior the world and the United States accepted Israel as the homeland of the Jewish people (1947). The land Israel got and built up was mostly unagricultered land and whilst everyone agreed that it was fair the Arab nations still all did a unified attack on Israel where Israel through conquest gained more land. They actually gave the Palestinians Gaza back in hopes of a reconciliation of peace but Palestine didn’t live up to their end of the bargain.

Destiny is wrong to dismiss Tal Schneider like that, she's a respectable journalist that knows what shes talking about. Wikipedia is not a good enough source to debunk her, it doesnt provide enough context. Israel did not retaliate seriousely to the incendiary baloons, or the rockets on the south. th3y bombed a couple of dunes and not much more every time it happened, almost as a formality. the response was never as serious as when the rockets targetet Tel Aviv or Jerusalem. And this is a left wing perspective that would like to see a unified PLO leadership in Gaza and the West Bank to be able to deal with and maybe negotiate peace. Bibi knew that as long as their leadership was divided no international pressure would fall on him to negotiate a peace deal. the smugness with which he dismisses her is not unlike Vaush when he ignorantly talks about this conflict. By the way as opposed to his take on this his historical summary was actually pretty accurate
