I'm eagerly waiting for prodesk 600 g3 mt videos. We have about 53 pcs here waiting for modification.... Your videos are very helpful and no one is making these types.
This video is exactly what I was looking for and I found it by chance. I have the same PC, but I am hesitant to buy this graphics card. Thank you very much.❤
gracias for the content, Good-quality PSUs can run at 100% capacity without issues, try undervolting the cpu and gpu to get 80% around a gross 144 watts
As we can see, the maximum power draw in this setup is no more than 165W from the wall. The 165W from the wall does not mean the PC system consumes 165W due to the PSU’s 80 Plus Gold rating. The PC could be consuming 85% of 165W from the PSU. Based on this concept, the whole PC consumes a maximum of 140.25W (165 x 85 / 100). This indicates that the total power draw from the CPU (65W) and GPU (70-75W) is correct, so we still have room for 40W to reach the max PSU capacity of 180W. Based on this analysis, this PC setup should be safe, and this is often seen with PC makers like HP, who install a GTX 1660 Ti on a 310W PSU and an RTX 3070 on a 500W PSU in their prebuilt PCs.
Thank you for this video, I have a HP pro desk 600 G1 sff and I've been wondering the same thing for about a month now. I got a little bit more beef on my PSU so I think it should work out fine around 240w

Ain't no way I just found a video that I need. Moreover it's from 2 weeks ago. There's much I wanna say about how grateful I am but saying this little would already make you understand. Btw, can you do a PSU upgrade on this PC?
That’s awesome to hear! The ProDesk 400 G5 MT with the i5 8500 and RTX 3050 6 GB sounds like a great setup, especially running on just 180 watts. Thanks for sharing your experience! 😎
@@itggear i tested the build last days. And modded the case with an exhaust fan on top. Temps cpu max 70 and gpu 65. And even with 16 gb memory @ 2133 the system is fine by me. So if other builders want to try it, it’s worth it. Btw the CPU and Gpu uses approximately 120 watts max 😎
This video is very helpful. no bs or anything just getting straight to the information. I have an HP office pc with an i5-8400 and a current GT 1030 GDDR5 that i thought about maybe replacing with this card and undervolting it a bit so it doesn't use too much power. It also has a 180W PSU so this video helped with deciding whether or not this would work
Thanks for sharing your experience! It’s great to find helpful videos that cut through the fluff. Considering your HP office PC with an i5-8400 and a GT 1030 GDDR5, it’s smart to think about power consumption. Undervolting the new card could be a good approach, especially with that 180W PSU. Kudos for doing your research!
Very helpful video! I have slim HP workstation with an amd 2400g that I use as my HTPC and just bought this exact GPU and was worried that my 240 watt PSU wouldn't be enough... I'm feeling a lot better about not having to spend any more than I have to..
It's running a little too close to the danger zone at times needs to not go above 150W continuous (you'll burn out the PSU quickly from the stress). However I would not upgrade the PSU due to finding a reliable propitiatory PSU costing way too much. Instead I would switch the CPU to a I7-10700T or I9-10900T. Both are 35W TDP so it'll make sure you don't go over 150W while gaming while also gaining more cache, cores & threads to boot. I had a I7-10700T for several years until I upgraded to a I5-12500T I got it paired with a RTX 4060, and the most it draws from the wall gaming is 170W in 1440p gaming. These T class CPUs are best used for systems with low wattage PSUs anyway.
I've heard conflicting things with people saying it's okay and some people saying it's not. I asked on Reddit and people say that it's fine if it's a decent PSU and such and most say the worst that'll happen is it shuts off to protect itself so i don't know which is true

Cpu alone stress test around 100watt and gpu alone with furmark 120watt. I wonder what happens if you stress test both running 100% cinebench & furmark at the same time, I think it will automatically shutdowns
It's doesn't mean the CPU won't be running while testing with Furmark. If the system load is around 100W during a CPU stress test, there is still plenty of wattage room left in the PSU. Since the PSU is 80% efficient, the 100W you see from the wall means the system consumes only 80W. A 180W PSU is designed to supply 180W to the PC system, not to draw 180W from the wall
The HP 280 Pro G6 with the RTX 3050 doesn’t officially support Resizable BAR (ReBAR), it’s still a great combo for budget-friendly gaming. To enable it, ensure you have a compatible CPU, motherboard, and the latest GeForce Game Ready driver. If you’re using an RTX 3060, you’re good to go; for other models, check for VBIOS updates. Happy gaming!
Please check my unboxing video in the pinned comment. I tested the RTX 3050 on a PC with PCIe Gen 4. Notably, in Shadow of Tomb Raider, using the same settings, the overall average FPS on PCIe Gen 4 is 77 fps, while on this PC with PCIe Gen 3, the overall average FPS is 64 fps. Thank you!
you can upgrade the psu with a 400 watt or a 500 watt one's i found on amazon but that depends on your budget but thought id let you know also you can put a 60 mm fan on the black part of the hard drive cage by using a a sata to 3/4 pin adapter or a fan splitter it helps reduce the heat in it by having that be a intake fan which reduces heat by 9 degree's which isnt a lot but still helps
Thank you for your insight! I made this video on the topic of using an RTX 3050 6G on a 180W PC system per a viewer’s request. I have also posted many videos about upgrading to a 500W HP power supply, adding a front intake fan, and installing a standard cooler on my channel. Thank you for watching!
I have this same build as a HTPC, I upgraded from a 800 so swapped the 250w power supply from that. Buying an old unit like that is cheaper that just getting the power supply. Where are the Wi-Fi antenna routed on your build?
I’d for sure swap the PSU just for peace of mind. Do you know if this PC can use a standard power supply? I just did a PSU swap on a Dell 3620 and it worked great. It required a 24pin adapter cable to power the motherboard, but that was cheap on Amazon. I know other prebuilt machines can be a headache to swap PSU from the OEM one that has weird proprietary connectors.
For HP EliteDesk and Prodesk Desktop tower series with P2 7 wires or 3 wires cable and P1 4pin cable, there is no 24pin adapter to work with those PCs. We need to buy the original HP power supply replacement, as I did in my previous video. Thank you.
seems like a minor undervolt or only running games that only put the gpu load at 70% or less and youd have more then enough head room for safety. keep in mind most office psu are decent quality as the oem doesnt want to do a warranty for just that
It could be that the GPU is running at PCIe 3.0 x8. Additionally, the OEM HP board limits power per PCIe x16 slot to 50W (refer to the HP datasheet). This is why the RTX 3050 6GB won’t run at its full speed. Thank you for watching.

Hello, thanks for the info! This is what i was looking for since i am planning to install a GTX 1650/1050Ti into a Lenovo M710t, sporting a huntkey 180w psu with an i5 7400. For context i am using an i5 6500 with a GTX 1650 on a dell 240w psu, works flawlessly. The 1650 consumes 75w maximum, while the 6500 is below 40w (51w peak while running prime95) Do you think the 180w psu in the lenovo will suffice?
Hello! Thanks for sharing your setup. The GTX 1650 does indeed consume around 75W, and the i5-7400 typically consumes about 65W under load. Adding in the power for other components, your total power draw might be close to the limit of the 180W PSU in the Lenovo M710t. While it might work, it’s quite close to the PSU’s maximum capacity, which could lead to instability or shutdowns under heavy load. For better reliability, you might want to consider upgrading to a higher wattage PSU if possible.
Did you connect the monitor via the GPU port after installing the GPU? If yes, and when you turn it on there's no display, it doesn't mean the PC is frozen. The PC might not yet recognize the GPU driver, so you can connect the monitor via the onboard DP or HDMI port and perform a complete driver installation. Also, you can check in the PC's Device Manager to ensure the GPU is present. Many things can cause a GPU to not be detected, such as BIOS configuration and proper installation, but it's most likely not related to the 180W PSU.
@@itggear yes I connected it through GPU's DP port and the PC runs fine at first but when I reach the desktop it freezes, I can't move the mice or keyboard, I will try downloading the drivers like you mentioned, I saw a couple of Nvidia drivers on dell website maybe those are missing, can you tell me what else I can do if it doesn't work? this is my first time actually modifying a pc, and thank you for replying fast
The RTX 3050 should work in the Dell Inspiron 3020, but make sure to check the physical dimensions and power requirements to ensure compatibility. Between the RTX 3050 LP and RX 6400 LP, the RTX 3050 generally offers better performance and features like DLSS.
I have an HP Pro 280 G9, when I install a GTX 750 ti why is the screen only blank? is there something that should be set again? or should I replace the PSU with a larger wattage?
Maybe you need to configure the PCIe version and link speed in your PC BIOS to match your graphics card. It’s possible that the GPU or PC does not recognize the hardware. Thank you.
I think a PC that comes with a 180W PSU is not likely to have any trouble since the engineers designed it to work with that power supply. However, if you want to add a GPU, it depends on which GPU you choose. If you need to install an RTX 3050 6G or any GPU with a 70W TDP, it could still run, but it might stress your PC’s PSU, potentially shortening its lifespan. Alternatively, you can use Afterburner to downclock your GPU to ensure it runs safely for the long term. Thank you.
I was thinking that you could have installed a GT 1030 2GB DDR 5 card, but that would have to be on the used market, and nobody knows how much longer NVIDIA will support the 10 series. So I am extremely curious how the 3050 will perform in this setup.
All the answers are in that video. I've tested and shown what's going on in the rest of the video, so you can make assumptions and decisions by yourself.
If it's the RTX 3050 8G, it won't have sufficient power since it requires 1x 8-pin PCIe and a 500W PSU. However, the RTX 3050 6G should work fine since it only has a 70W TDP and does not require an extra PCIe power cable. Thank you.
The best and safest option would be using RX 6400 Low profile or RX 6500 (I guess it is only manufactured by Dell). This will help to safely use 180W PS.U
In my opinion, I think it should work. However, I can't confirm compatibility with any model other than the one in this video since I haven't tried it yet. Thank you.
Yes, the power supply recommendation for the RTX 3050 6GB is only 300W. I think if your GPU has a PCIe 8-pin connector, you can even install a GTX 1660. Thank you.
Hi! The RTX 3050 LP is a capable card for video editing, but your HP Pavilion Desktop PC TP01-5000i with a 180W PSU might be a bit underpowered for it. The RTX 3050 typically requires a minimum of 300W to 350W PSU for stable performance. To avoid potential issues, you might consider upgrading your PSU to at least 300W. Alternatively, you could try reducing the power limit of the GPU using software like MSI Afterburner to see if it works within your current setup. Hope this helps, and thank you for watching!
For your HP Slim Desktop with an Intel® Core™ i5 9th gen processor and a 180W PSU, consider the ZOTAC GeForce GT 1030 2GB, EVGA GT 1030 GDDR5, RX 6400, or Intel Arc 310 LP. All of these fit the PCI Express x16 slot and are budget-friendly options. Verify your PSU wattage before choosing. The GT 1030 is suitable for light gaming and multimedia tasks.
Hey I have a HP with Wierd PSU connector on Motherboard, I cant Upgrade It is 180 watt I m in Budget should i Buy ( Galax GTX 1650 EX (1-Click OC) GDDR6, ) it doesn't have any external Powers Connector
Yes, you can upgrade the PSU for your HP mid-tower desktop PC. There are many options available on the market for PSU replacement. Also, smaller wattages like 310W or 450W HP replacement PSUs are not expensive unless you choose a larger wattage like 500W or bigger. If you focus on daily tasks like enjoying 4K video playback and light gaming, the GTX 1650 is the best choice since it allows for plug-and-play without requiring any other upgrades.
it is not a problem to run game for a benchmark on poor PSU, try to use it in this mode for month and will see what hapen. Sooner or later PSU will die from owerheating, same about MB, it is not made to run with consumer cards, they use low power Quadro cards for a reason. But for level of RUclips it is too complicated..

@@aaron_lanky62__26 If the PC has a 4GB stick and a 16GB stick installed, it won’t run in dual-channel memory mode. Dual-channel requires identical pairs (e.g., 2x4GB or 2x16GB). In this case, it’ll operate in single-channel mode. Encourage them to match the RAM sticks for better performance!
This is the same PC I have back when I was studying in college, I just want to play casual games at least 720p 60fps. So I decided to do some upgrades I put GTX 750ti and upgraded the ram. It work fine for weeks then I booted the pc at the morning I smell burning plastic. I immediately unplug the pc and I located the burning smells and its coming from the PSU. I took out the gpu and just run the system using the integrated and it works fine like nothing happens. But when I sniffed the gpu and yeah its turns out the gpu was cooked the burning smell coming was just the PSU was just exhausting the smell of my dead cooked gpu. So I decided to just buy gt 1030. its a downgrade but it does the job done for me.
That's not gonna last long with 180w psu, that's what happen to my "hp 290 g1 mt" paired with gtx 1050 2gb lowprofile, the gpu died a week later after i installed it.

I tried this with dell vostro 3910 that comes with 180W PSU but it didn't work, PC kept on freezing everytime I open it, any advice?
Will the RTX 3050 work on Dell Inspiron 3020? currently thinking of upgrading the GPU and was choosing between the RTX 3050 LP and RX6400 LP.
Thank you.
I have the same but a supply 180w version, you think is gonna be a trouble??
I think a PC that comes with a 180W PSU is not likely to have any trouble since the engineers designed it to work with that power supply. However, if you want to add a GPU, it depends on which GPU you choose. If you need to install an RTX 3050 6G or any GPU with a 70W TDP, it could still run, but it might stress your PC’s PSU, potentially shortening its lifespan. Alternatively, you can use Afterburner to downclock your GPU to ensure it runs safely for the long term. Thank you.
@@itggear thanks for your advise 👍🏻
I was thinking that you could have installed a GT 1030 2GB DDR 5 card, but that would have to be on the used market, and nobody knows how much longer NVIDIA will support the 10 series. So I am extremely curious how the 3050 will perform in this setup.
It's the 1660s with the raytracing just cost the power consumption of 1050 ti.
Sorry, i have HP desktop pro a g3 with 180w PSU 80+ Gold, can i instal rtx 3050 6g like that?
All the answers are in that video. I've tested and shown what's going on in the rest of the video, so you can make assumptions and decisions by yourself.
I bought gtx 1630 but I'm afraid to use it because i don't know if it will work on my hp 290 G1 desktop with the 180w psu
So i got i7 4790, 16 ram, n 255w, 3050 it's going to work??, n W vid🔥🔥
If it's the RTX 3050 8G, it won't have sufficient power since it requires 1x 8-pin PCIe and a 500W PSU. However, the RTX 3050 6G should work fine since it only has a 70W TDP and does not require an extra PCIe power cable. Thank you.
Of course it’ll work
I would have just bought one 16 gb ram module to match the one 16 gb stick it came with instead of buying two 8 gb sticks. More ram doesn't hurt.
Can i run any graphics card on My hp slim desktop pc p90 series 180 watt 12gb ram intel g4560
That’s more than enough to work
The best and safest option would be using RX 6400 Low profile or RX 6500 (I guess it is only manufactured by Dell). This will help to safely use 180W PS.U
You are right, those cards are good options for staying within the power limit of this system!
do you think rx550 on 280 watts psu will work? (i3-6100) thanks
Yes, it should work. The RX 550 has a low power draw, and your i3-6100 is efficient. Your 280W PSU should handle both. Thank you.
Hay ..
i have instal gtx 1050 2gb gb work for this pc ?
I same for you this pc .
In my opinion, I think it should work. However, I can't confirm compatibility with any model other than the one in this video since I haven't tried it yet. Thank you.
Need video about how to upgrade PSU for this model... Because this model run with 4 pin power socket.
I definitely posted a video about upgrading this PC's PSU. Please check it out here: ruclips.net/video/WRQa0FDz3xA/видео.html
i can use a rtx 3050 6gb with ryzen 5 5600g on a 350w plus bronze psu?
Yes, the power supply recommendation for the RTX 3050 6GB is only 300W. I think if your GPU has a PCIe 8-pin connector, you can even install a GTX 1660. Thank you.
@@itggear thanks a lot!
Hi I do a lot of video editing on the HP Pavilion Desktop PC TP01-5000i inteli7, will RTX 3050 LP be ok to use in my PC that runs at 180W. thank you
I have hp slim desktop...i5 9th gen and 180w psu and have x16 slot... which graphic card is good,?
For your HP Slim Desktop with an Intel® Core™ i5 9th gen processor and a 180W PSU, consider the ZOTAC GeForce GT 1030 2GB, EVGA GT 1030 GDDR5, RX 6400, or Intel Arc 310 LP. All of these fit the PCI Express x16 slot and are budget-friendly options. Verify your PSU wattage before choosing. The GT 1030 is suitable for light gaming and multimedia tasks.
Best gpu for intel i3 9100 with psu 200w
Hey I have a HP with Wierd PSU connector on Motherboard, I cant Upgrade
It is 180 watt
I m in Budget should i Buy ( Galax GTX 1650 EX (1-Click OC) GDDR6, ) it doesn't have any external Powers Connector

Can i add a 1650 to this , i want to make it a budget gaming rig
gtx1650 ist only 75W. Like the One in this Video.
it is not a problem to run game for a benchmark on poor PSU, try to use it in this mode for month and will see what hapen. Sooner or later PSU will die from owerheating, same about MB, it is not made to run with consumer cards, they use low power Quadro cards for a reason. But for level of RUclips it is too complicated..
would it work on a 350w
Yes, the power supply recommendation for the RTX 3050 6GB is 300W, so a 350W PSU will absolutely work.
@@itggearwould I need to upgrade my ryzen 5 2600 x and 24 gb ram or is my pc okay ?
@@aaron_lanky62__26 Your Ryzen 5 2600X with 24GB RAM is decent, but consider upgrading to dual-channel RAM (2x8GB) for better performance. Also, check your GPU-upgrading it could enhance gaming. Share your budget, and I’ll provide more tailored advice!
@@itggear thank u man helps a lot I’m not looking to spend hella amounts on my pc as I’m going on holiday so around 450 to 500
@@aaron_lanky62__26 If the PC has a 4GB stick and a 16GB stick installed, it won’t run in dual-channel memory mode.
Hey bro do u think my 280 psu will work perfectly fine using gt 1030?
That's not gonna last long with 180w psu, that's what happen to my "hp 290 g1 mt" paired with gtx 1050 2gb lowprofile, the gpu died a week later after i installed it.
I've been using a GTX 1650 4GB in an Optiplex with a 180W PSU for over a year now with no issues.
your gpu dying within a week is probably because of other cause
Yeah especially cuz the 1050 draws negative power @@Kagamiya

I think any GPU that doesn’t require an extra PCIe power cable, like the GTX 1050, GTX 1050 Ti, GTX 1650, RTX 3050, RX 550, or RX 6400, is good for your 280W power supply. Thank you.
