But this group is a lot more than a mere novelty. Mugenkyo has established a solid reputation for their gritty, passionate style, setting themselves firmly at the forefront of Japanese Taiko drumming. They present Taiko as modern & theatrical, with precise choreography, and a variety of costumes ranging from the post-apocalyptic industrial to gorgeous earthy silks. Their powerful rhythms beat on the small hand-held drums along with the thunderous reverberations of the enormous Odaiko drum which integrates with the delicate bamboo flute, soulful voices, layers of percussive soundscapes, and innovative dance. Saw them years ago in a small theatre in Hemel Hempstead - awesome and primitive. And I'm 70 !
This drumming must be to good for exercising - running the treadmill, doing the stair climber. The beats!
This style of drumming is so much more of a performance when compared to the basic drum set up I’ve mostly seen.
I am here to learn and add some thing new to my limited repetoire on the drum kit ,I love this stuff ,so primal and powerful and melodic,listening to Ginger Baker steered me in this direction .

@@markdemell3717 Of course there is as mentioned in the title. Players in the video just don't know how to authentically play it because they are just wannabes and not natives.
@@raikey2176 Bad attitude . I guess that a Japanese who plays the bag pipes cannot be as good as a Scottsman .Music is for every one . I think they sure sounded authentic ,or were they robots? Your still young ,you have a lot of growing to do.Take care and be well .I am going to practice some of those beats on my drum set now ,even though it will be Inauthentic because Canadians should not play Japanese beats on the drums. Good grief.
@@markdemell3717 Yeah because a Japanese from Japan will mostly play what he knows of unless he trains from a native Irish to learn how to play a bag pipe.
@@markdemell3717 You don't need to sound as a robot if you know the traditional way of playing an instrument.
