This dude Matt Daemon is such an amazing actor. Isn't this the 2nd great audible he's pulled? I heard he was also the one who decided to pick up Viserys' crown after it fell while he was climbing the stairs. He also doesn't speak much in most most of the episodes but he emotes very well. Great acting. Well worth my HBO subscription

Everyone should understand that the time jumps are necessary for us to get to the point of the actual dance, so that the dance is long and well detailed if they didn't skip we'd have the issues of season 8 GOT. It's better to start fast and burn slow. The season's will only get better and better
Not just the time jumps, but I love that they gave us the backstory as season 1, rather than jumping straight into the dance. Context was necessary for understanding character motivations, while still leaving room for growth as the seasons go on.

If not for Paddy Considine’s career defining performance, Matt Smith’s take on Daemon would have garnered more attention. His take on the character is so compelling; It’s exciting to think of how he will approach what’s to come.

I understand why they deleted everything that they deleted. But I would have liked more scenes between Rhaenyra and Harwin Strong, which they didn't even try to shoot in the first place.
Also, Matt Smith is dominating not just his role but also the whole series with his choices.

Shame they couldn't add any of Viserys and Allicent's wedding scenes. She looks absolutely elegant and gorgeous in that dragon style dress.

The director of the episode said that they did NOT film any scenes for the wedding. They only filmed a scene were Rhaenyra helps alicent getting dressed, similar to the scene in episode one.
The fact Matt Smith improvised two of the best scenes from the show is nuts. I hope he keeps them coming!

According to Fabien Frankel (one of his solo interviews) there was a deleted scene where Criston Cole was reciting his oaths to become a Kingsguard. This was to emphasize what the oath meant to him and why he reacted that way after episode 4.
Of course they cut it, they seemingly wanted him to look as bad as possible

I LOVE how they played out the final scene! 1st rule of film: Show, don't Tell. I also loved Emma's physical reaction; you could see how it twisted her body and hardened her senses. She almost looked like she was transforming into a were-dragon haha

I kind of wish we had gotten some of those deleted scenes. Those extra scenes with Daemon and Laena would have been nice to see and understand more of what was happening with their relationship. I feel we missed out on that. It would have been nice to have seen that Allicent and Viserys wedding and the prep to give us more understanding between her and Rhaenrya.
I'd have much preferred that over the "Inside the Episode" at the end of each episode. The best part of watching is letting us draw our own conclusions. We don't need our hands held lol

We needed that time for the important stuff. This was just so we could get to the actual story . It would have sucked to take time for trivial scenes and leave out what we got. The books and lore fleshed all of it very well for us , already .
That scene of Paddy taking his throne back...wow. Daemon coming to his side making it even more momentous... incredible. We have so much to look forward to.

Apparently there was suppose to be a scene with Daemon grappling with the news of Lucerys death (I think Greg Yaitanes mentioned it) and then there was Daemon hugging his daughters.
Aliment threw shade "your family does have strange customs" about incest with daemon. Then married her kids to each other out of spite

Last thing the Greens want is for Aemond to be roaming around the keep, drinking wine and eating only to realize the Blacks are attacking. He will then need to run his ass off to the Dragon pit (However far that is) and get on his Dragon. By then, the attack could be over. So just make a Saddle/bed and stay there 24/7. Just in case.
Matt Smith is such a great actor. All the scenes that captivated the emotions without speaking a word went well with the vibe.

Hey. I’m curious if there was a deleted scene in Ep 10 between when Jace yells Daemon to stop and then Daemon talks about loyalty. It just seemed an odd transition. Thank you for the video, great stuff.❤
I think the idea was to show loyalty and fear go hand in hand. If you want to rule, your subjects must fear you. That is Daemons approach.
Daemon choking Rhaneryas was mistimed as well.
One thing I thought of yesterday was when Arrax went after Vaegar and hit her with flame on her left eye.
Like what happened to Aemond, not sure if she lost the eye but that would be an interesting handicap for future battles, or at least fed off Aemond's anger to do what she did.

There is basically no chance they mess up the ending. GOTs went to shit after season 4/5 because they ran out of books to follow and GRRM left the show. They have finished work to follow with HOTD and GRRM is back overseeing the show.

Pretty sure Alicent was not only 14-15 years old when she married Viserys. In episode two, when her and Viserys are talking, he says "Sometimes I'd rather face the black dread himself than my own daughter of 10 and 6." Meaning Rhaenyra was 16 at the time, which would make Alicent about 17-18 considering she is only slightly older than Rhaenyra on the show.
Do you think they might use flashbacks in future seasons to cover some story in missing years?
Like the transition from episode 5 to episode 6 was a lot. She just went from just angry to a full blown villain. Younger Alicent never used her power against Rhaenyra. But then now she has grown completely paranoid thinking Rhaenyra will kill her.
Hopefully, they give us more context on their relationship in future seasons.

Its crazy to think that Vhagar and Caraxes dragon rider's were married at one point when you consider how they ultimately end up...

If a rider has a psychic link with their dragon, then by extension, you would think that two dragons whose riders are married, might also share some kind of bond. Or maybe not, who knows. But it's interesting to think about/consider is all I am saying.
@@Vivosteveo Vermithor and Silverwing not only had close riders between the two of them, the dragons themselves also had a close relationship. I suppose the same could not be said for Vhagar and Caraxes. Back to your original point, it seems how much riders' relationships influenced the dragons themselves would remain a permanently unclarified point.
They avoided so much to have similar scenes... but can we talk about how many birth scenes there was? Almost every episode someone was giving birth or trying to.

Lady Stoneheart, had she appeared, would have been resurrected two or three days after the Red Wedding which happened in Series 3 episode 9. Jon wasn’t resurrected until the beginning of series 6 which was not straight after Lady Stoneheart’s resurrection at all. D&D didn’t include LS because they didn’t know how to write the more magical elements of the book for the screen, not because it would have lessened the impact of Jon’s resurrection. If anything, it would have properly introduced the mechanics of resurrection to the audience ahead of Jon dying a full two seasons after the Red Wedding. Also, I don’t think D&D wanted all the Stark children to be revealed as wargs as they are in the books. It was Arya skinchanging into Nymeria who pulled Cat’s body out of the river for Beric Dondarrion and his men to find and resurrect her. Too magical for D&D!
I swear Matt Smith never even read the script. Every episode has stories of how he just rocked up and did what ever he wanted and everyone just went with it.

You got some of the ages wrong. When Alicent married Viserys she was 18 and Viserys 28. Reneara was only 8. She and Aegon had a 10 year age difference. When she was named heir she was only 8. They changed their ages for the show.

I just wanted to reach out with a questions about House of the Dragon. Why would Aemond have a sapphire in his eye instead of an emerald? Emerald's would compliment the green council more effectively in terms of story development. Does the sapphire have a significant meaning?

@@chelleyd4020 That's possible. I just thought Aemond would have chosen a green jewel to match his side of the Targaryen/Hightower family.
There is no given explanation but sapphires do come in shades of purple, which would be close to his eyes. On the other hand they are on of the stones typically associated with royalty, most likely the reason GRRM chose it, that or he just liked sapphires. They are also supposed to attract gifts, which I think is hilarious.
He wanted a gemstone in his eye hole and a sapphire was the closest thing, that's all I can give ya
