You did not detail how Daemon found out Lucerys was killed and in what manner. Were there other witnesses to the battle in the sky (other than Aemond)? Did Aemond go back and confess everything immediately? Why would he? If he's the only witness, he could have just pretended of having no knowledge of anything.

That Storm's End scene was super nerve-wracking to watch. The actor who played Lucerys brilliantly portrayed his struggle to overcome his fear as a child and uphold his duty as prince-envoy for his mother. Aemond's sapphire eye reveal was also cherry on top.

HUGE props to Aemond's actor. I hate the character to pieces, but he pulled off that look of true regret at the end so convincingly I felt slightly bad for him. Like, yes, he was tormenting the kid and is a f**ing bastard for doing so, but you can tell he didn't mean for it to get quite that out of hand and there's this genuine "...What have I done?" quality to it. Very well acted.

I wonder that no one has brought this up more often. That should have been Alicent’s first argument last episode to her father in the Small Council. Taking Rhaenyra out would make Aegon a kinslayer, even if he didn’t do it with his own hands.

@@taylorwalker7417, I think it is several things. Daemon thinks prophecies are nonsense, hates them, he believes only in real dragon power. And is frustrated because Rhaenyra holds him back on his full war path, it reminds him of Viserys inaction he despised. He knows nothing about “Song of Ice and Fire” and doesn`t understand her reluctance to immediately retaliate (because he knows she is fire and dragon like himself, and she is in pain just like him). Realisation that it is all because of some crazy prophecy that his brother did not even tell him, to Daemon is irritation and reminder again that his brother constantly refused to rely on him/his opinion. And just like at battle of Stepstones when he pummeled that Viserys messenger in anger, Daemon felt this moment like another slap in his face. He snaps and lashes out. That violent choking was him screaming at her "Do not Viserys me! Listen to me! This is war and we must attack! Only dragons & action matter! Not some stupid tales!".

Interesting that while Aemond wasn’t going for the kill they could not truly control the Dragons. Once the Dragons felt threatened and angry their riders could not stop them from their battle instincts. Arrax defended himself and Vhagar was not having it. He definitely was. Arrax, his dragon, was in a full blown panick when Luc emerged from Storm's End's keep - and the young man calmed the dragon with a few Ancient Valyrian words, and had the dragon mostly in hand. Arrax attacking Vhagar was just the risidules of panick of a young dragon facing off against a massive, ancient predator. That scene was one of the best filmed scenes I've seen in a long time. Luc killed it; wish he was able to stay around long. Excellent acting.

    What stood out to me:
    1. Rhaenyra at the end of episode 1 and episode 10 I think was intentional. At the end of episode one we see a young girl showing trepidation, as well as a little pride and hope as she is named heir. Juxtaposed to her at the end of episode 10, now Queen who has just lost all hope for peace. Trepidation has turned to rage. You can almost see a vain popping in the middle of her forehead.
    2. I think Daemon continued in the war room while she was in labor because it was a reminder of his experience with Laena. Focusing on the planning of war kept him distracted and focused on something else.
    3. I think he choked Rhaenyra at first because he feels she’s going soft and he wants war. But I also think at a certain point it turns to anger and jealousy that his brother did not share the prophesy with him when he was his heir, but he shared it with his daughter.

The episode ending was basically 2 boys playing with fire, where Lucery could not control Arrax at the end, the fire spit on Vhagar's face was totally not under Lucery's command, neither was the killing bite was under Aemond's.
This is what the dance of the draons really means though or what game of thrones has always meant to represnt - it is not the people who toy with power, it's the people who think that they are toying with power, get toyed BY powers at the end.

The green banner with a three headed dragon on it was signaling that it was Aegon’s faction approaching. So when the war breaks out that’s how they will identify themselves as. And Aemma Arryn’s mother wasn’t the youngest daughter of Queen Alysanne. She had many daughters after her. In the scene with Daemon it confirms that Viserys never thought of Daemon as his heir since he never told him of the prophecy. And that Rhaenyra is her father’s true heir.

I kind of love how it's portrayed as an accident here instead of him just being ruthless in the books. It makes the event that follow Even more tragic. It also make more sense because as tough as aemond think he is not on daemon's level yet he's still just a boy himself. He'll get there by the time he pays a visit to the riverlands.

I feel that way too. Making him regret for killing Luce was an interesting change but isn’t this the second accident and miscommunication on the Green side’s part. First Alicent who usurped the throne over miscommunication and now Aemond who killed Luce because he couldn’t control his dragon. It feels like they are starting the war because a series of oopsies which again feels like they are downplaying the characters imo.

My theory at the end is Daemon becomes the NIght King. His ambitions to become king has led him to become a "king". He will discover it through the dagger, which eventually wound up killing him when Arya got the dagger. Imagine seeing Daemon become the Night King at the end of the whole series. That would explain the Night King's strong ambition in GOT why he wanted to conquer the south.

I hoped Charlie with his extended knowledge of the books' lore would touch on how it's possible for Seasmoke to be riderless on Driftmark, as Daemon says when he enumerates the dragons. It's not like they can fool the dragon that his rider died right? They should have that connection between them that's was shown several times during the season where the dragon feels it's riders pain/emotions. So why did Seasmoke not follow his rider Laenor wherever he went instead of remaining riderless on Driftmark? Can the rider just simply brake their bond somehow releasing the dragon?

@@franug I completely agree. It definitely emphasized not only Daemon's gravitation towards war, but also his inability to love Rhaenyra as he should, something I definitely think will play out later on in the show. Even though, I do believe that the marriage was practical and logical, it was also done without consideration of the contrastingly different people they are. Undoubtedly, this alliance will serve as a strategic war advantage for them in the Dance of the Dragons. However, I do think he will end up hurting Rhaenyra and she will have to step into her shoes as Queen and put him in his place, willingly or unwillingly.
