@@akaymoon8252 HBO is doing a prequel series set during the Age of Heroes and the Long Night, which they've billed as an origin story for the Night King and the Three-Eyed Raven. I would guess they've saved this reveal for then. The Age of Heroes is supposedly filled with even more magical beasts than just dragons, so this might be the place where the high fantasy excised from Game of Thrones makes its home.
You got it all wrong, Dany wasn't mad. She was willing to give up the Iron Throne for Bran. Which is why she flattened Kingslanding to make it wheelchair accessible. Drogon even made an iron ramp for Bran's wheel chair.
And the Night King wasn't a disappointment, all he wanted to do was die, and since Bran knows everything, the NK just came by the tree to ask him how. It makes sense, he jumped off his dragon, but that didnt do it, he stood in dragonfire but he still wouldnt die, so he just ran in for help.
watching this years later and i genuinely do not understand how you manage to be so calm and collected while you're working through the nonsense that this episode was 😭. i admire you
I've notice it's a popular things on youtube where you can programing robot voice to read their script. I'm 3 years late, but RUclips finally decided to recommend me this! Nice breakdown on Daenerys being a tyrant and yet a lot of the viewers still embraced her. Why? Here is my take on Daenerys. She represents certain county which I won't mention. Her goal is to free the slaves and spread freedom. Those with different ideology that goes against her will be sanction, starved and killed. Remember the man who killed Daenerys beloved translator? That's an equivalent of flying planes into the Twin Tower on 9/11. The punishment for going up against Daenerys? 2.4 million dead Iraqi, destroyed infrastructures and stolen oil. Same fate for Afghanistan etc. Remember the people who shot down one of Daenerys dragon? That's an equivalent to killing the settlers. The punishment for going up against Daenerys? Native Americans Indians got hunted till near extinction, lost their language and culture. Now only a few thousand are living on reservations. You get the ideas right? Give this source a visit to see the list of counties who got bombed for 10 years aka dragon fire attacks on cities. Source Davidswanson warlist
Tom Neville I mean I would too after what she went through in the battle against the NK and then again when the city was burning. Honestly Arya got the best deal of all the characters lol
@@jaguar_8344 The Night King? That's child's play compared to being present for her father's execution and later seeing the mutilated corpse of her own brother. She had two friends killed, callously, for no reason. Arya has shit in her head that she could never get out, no matter how much she tried.
Hmmmmm she said she is going to westeros and further than that. The dragon is also headed there where the three eyed raven is plotting something to do to it. I see some story there
@@subhasish1718 Could be why the video made reference to the Dune universe. Bran The Broken could be a bit like Paul Muad'Dib and/or Leto II who is the emperor in the fourth book, God Emperor Of Dune. He might live a thousand years or just a regular lifespan of a ruler who doesn't lead a life like the worst of the previous kings and queens. It might even be that whomever is chosen to be the king or queen after him has to become the Three Eyed Raven as well which could be very sobering.
I was watching the scene where they proclaim Bran King of the Six Kingdoms just a few minutes ago and Martin's quote got me laughing harder than that did lol
OK but Chaos is a ramp would also be accurate. Chaos makes it possible to ascend, but it also makes it harder to do so, while the slope to downfall and destruction makes it easier to fail.
Goblin Slayer Well said. This will probably my final GoT Analysis video to watch. Always liked Alt Shift, and In Deep Geek. What a shame that the show had to in this way though. So much more bitter than sweet.
@Chris A. Medina The dragon just blew out in a rage of magic and could not take Jon due to the magic of the blood. Even though the dragon knew that Jon killed her.
@Gabriel Nunes Not all Targaryens carried the blood Magic. The lines were heavily watered down when it got to GOT. The reason why Jon could ride the dragon was due to his blood.
Grey Worm went from "I'm here to execute a traitor and a murderer and I'm literally holding the knife" to "whatever you guys want" in a single sentence.
Greyworm said to Tyrion "You are not here to talk!". Tyrion immediately proceeds to talk uninterrupted and then casually selects a king. I'm convinced they just did GoT madlibs for the entire last season.
Grey Worm was literally always a slave. He was a "free slave". He had literally nothing else in his life to live for, and was a slave to his life circumstances. Even while holding the knife, he still had no authority to do anything without someone else's permission. He was master of war to a dead queen. Him moving East is the first free man thing he did all series long.
I can't believe this is the last ever "Game of Thrones S...E... Explained" video notification I'll ever get. Thanks Alt Shift X for the years of great content. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that GoT wouldn't have been the same without your analyses.

He's right, just imagine how a masterpiece these last seasons could have been if the quality was as good as the first 1-4 seasons, it would have literally became the best show of all time, if only GRRM had finished his books before the last seasons....

On the book thats part of Brans climing is so important. He start climing in the tree on the gods woods then go to the roof of the armer and then to the tower. Thats were Arya materialize...but never mention on show.. so you have to guess..they kind a forget
@@nunosantosdev that's the thing ,Bran ending up as a king is not the problem.. I can totally see Bran learning from his experiences as a greenseer and actually having a part in the story ,which would eventually lead him to be leader for the realm for better or worse (He mentally assaults Hodor, who in books hates being puppet of Bran ), unlike his show counterpart, with no personality other than being creepy and using his omniscience to take a guided nap mid battle and remind people of their most embarrassing or disappointing moment . He could've been a supervillain actually, manipulating the realm to obtain power for his family.
All the characters actions are justified in a logical way, it's just the BAD writing that gives it away, the clumsy acting of some characters and their flanderization, or the change on their ways of acting and motives, also the fastness of the season, it was all so rushed. It's a weird awful season but it works.
@@eduardoherrer664 I disagree. I mean, the most obvious example is why the lords would sit back and let Bran be king when there's a literal Targaryen that's able to take the throne. Or how the Dothraki don't bat an eye to Jon, who literally killed their ruler. How about Greyworm not executing Jon? Arya leaving her family when that just two episodes prior she wanted to be with them? The prophecy is forgotten. Jon's true heritage isn't cared about. The Long Night actually happens with a good vs evil war... which is disgusting... and lasts for one night before a random girl ends it. I don't understand how anyone approved of this sin.
@@VictorChooJernLiang they weren't. Recall that some of them escorted Tyrion in king's landing a bit, and cut off Pycell's beard. After Tyrion wakes up after the battle of the Blackwater tywin tells him the tribesmen were rewarded and sent home.

The last season was fantastic only the ADHD generation would dislike it because it is trendy to dislike these days and talk about systematic problems and nonsense like that
bighand69 yeah it’s “fantastic” if you like movies with a million explosions. The show’s plot was pathetic in the last two seasons. Absolutely horrible. And that’s what made the show legendary.

Y'know what's weird? Looking back, Gendry also has a claim. He is recognized Bastard, recognized by Daenerys, meaning her supporters recognize him as a Baratheon, and he was also an ally of Jon Snow, and of course the only remaining trueborn son of Robert Baratheon, and he grew up a peasant and became a knight under the Brotherhood Without Banners. Not only is his "story" amazing, he basically has positive affiliation with nearly every major faction. Would Gendry WANT the throne? Probably not, but someone should have at least put his name forward. Also, with the new system, someone is definitely going to lose an election by a razor thin margin, and then either start a civil war because "cheating" or just murder the winner and win the throne in the subsequent election.
for me, alt shift x's GOT explained was always as much a part of the show as the show itself- and I'd wait eagerly for each new video every time a new episode aired. kinda sad to see it come to an end but hey! I'm really looking forward to what's to come. thank you so much!
Not true at all. We're not talking lineage claim, we're talking claim for who will make the best king. The Lords at that meeting are all honorable people for the most part and want Westeros to prosper. Bran has no negative emotions towards anyone, and he knows all the horrible shit they've done. Emotions are what lead to a bad ruler, knowledge is what leads to a good leader. Tywin says this waaay back to Tommen "What do they all lack" "knowledge". Bran is the king of knowledge, he doesn't even really need advisors for the big things because knows everyone's darkest secrets and motives yet doesn't have a vengeful bone in his body. Bran is the perfect king, even if not most satisfying
@@TheChurchofCacti how do we know that? Tyrion said bran had the best story but everyone else also had good stories and don't forget about the politics, these last 3 seasons ignored politics all the way, believe it or not the last few seasons are far away from GOT we knew and love.
Nick King Televised and how do you justify Bran’s response, basically saying that he planned this from the beginning? I’m sorry but even if Bran could have had the wisdom to be a good king, the way they introduce it is nothing but awful. They are explicitly saying that Bran is a liar because he kept saying that he had no interest in any kind of power « i cannot be lord of anything », but also a murderer because he let Daenerys kill thousands of innocents in order to claim the throne.
I agree about how the shows don’t properly prove how Bran would be a good leader. But why do people always need to insert his wheelchair use and disability in, as if that makes someone an incompetent leader? Not only do I sometimes use a wheelchair (and deal with prejudice when I do) but my country also had a fantastic president who used a wheelchair. If you’d like to explain the connection between automatic poor leadership and wheelchair use, I’m all ears
@@amym5062 The conquest of Westeros by Aegon Targareyan was literally on a dragon's back As much as the prime of the show was about politics, its about wars as well A king who sits in a wheelchair reminising the past saying fuckall doesn't really feel like a Westerosi king
@@sawfal5403 And Bran can ride a horse, so why not a dragon? And, even better as a point, there are many leaders who can't fly dragons! @Google User A dream that has been foreshadowed in the books and in the show since season 3. It's not a a dream it's reallity. Daenerys was allways a conquerer and a dictator, she just liked slaves and fragile people but she was allways authoritarian, you do things in her way or you die. She was also allways entitled, even as a slave she allways demanded to be treated as superior to other people and that everything she wanted should be given to her because she has dragons and because of her genetics (targaryen). This final Explained is what did it for me, I finally got choked up and realized the show is over; I stopped being angry and just got sad. "It's bitter that the show is not what it could have been." Perfectly put, as always. Thank you for your years of hard work and dedication man, it's been a ride, I've constantly been in awe, and it was sweet.
No. Get off the bandwagon, you trend-hunting loser. You wouldn't last an hour in a writer's room and have no idea what you're talking about. The amount of work and talent involved in the production is more than you can possibly imagine. Keep fishing for likes online, though.
"Who has a better story?" Literally anyone else. Nobody knows him, he has no political experience, no claim to the throne, NO PERSONALITY. AG, I am still mad about this
He has a better story than a lot of character in there. A better story is not political skills. Sansa has good political skills and her story was very boring compared to other people there. In terms of claim to the throne the only people that have claim are Gendry (he is even a worst ruller than bran) and Jon that the hole point is that he doesn't want to rule, and other people don't want him to rule because he killed Daenerys. No one else has good claims. So from political skills would probably Tyrion the most suited but he fucked up a lot and people lost the faith in his skills or Sansa but people don't want to give that much power to her because she can have kids and continue the power being in the starks hands. The better would probably be to just each one rule it's own contry or region, that's what most people there want.
Remember when Dany made all those Dothraki into her bloodriders? Meaning they'd make it their sole purpose to avenge her if she were ever killed? ...actually, on second thought- remembering something is asking a lot of the writers at this point...
I'm sure the Dothraki would remind each other that she was a Khalessi, not a true Khal. They might rather get the fuck out of Westeros instead of avenging her.
sebastianwillows I love how everyone is killing innocent soldiers but when someone kills their queen they just throw him in jail even though he just killed their queen

The state of Westeros at the end of the series reminds me of speedrunning an achievement in a paradox game, ignoring every looming disaster because it doesnt matter if my country is destined to collapse if I simply stop playing before that happens. Honestly would love a continuation series where the Reach lords and Iron Bank immediately overthrow Bran's pagan caliphate because he made a semiliterate hitman the master of coin and of the most profitable land on the continent
Shout out to bran for playing the long game and becoming king. Bonus points for not telling anyone that the last 3 eyed raven lived for a thousand years.
You should consider dubbing an audiobook with your silky smooth voice. Accompanied by visualisations of peoples fan art. I'd watch all 10,000 hours of that spectacle.

While watching this with my daughter, she said "Good thing Ramsay Bolton is dead." I said "um, ok, why?" She said "After shooting Rickon in the back and what what he did to Sansa, he must have had a thing for getting Starks from behind. Bran would need a rear view mirror on his chair." I about pissed myself when she said that. She's 12.
Yours is the most well-informed and thoughtful opinion I’ve seen of the final season. You actually critically evaluate things, and try to make sense of them, instead of just saying “season 8 bad rehhhh.” It’s clear you didn’t like it, but you analyze both sides of it. I really appreciate this video
They failed spectacularly to combine the blood magic in GoT with the more human aspects of the plot. Literally, half of the show doesn't make any sense because the Night King and the Bloodraven plots were a muddled mess. They don't fit at all in the show.
They made perfect sense only those with a neurotic position would think otherwise. The characters of the world did get to fully understand the White walkers yet fans somehow think they deserve to be fully included in every detail. Sort of like how Star Trek fans used to worry about every detail wanting everything to be explained and it go so bad that the cast of the shows used to quizzed about nerdy details that nobody ever thought of.
@@bighands69 what you said made no sense the blood raven plot didn’t make sense cause it was irrelevant in the show we spent seasons travelling with bran and his friends only to get no pay off so what was the point bran literally does nothing for 2 whole seasons except for look at people creepily and what was the point of the wights and the white walkers if that had no pay off either the battle had no effect on the world no lasting consequences the only thing it proved was Jon’s plot armour
Yeah, apparently there was supposed to be another show Going into detail about the history of the white walkers, but HBO cancelled it. I always felt they left a bunch of cliffhangers on purpose to get viewers interested in the other show. But by leaving all these Plot holes , and not wrapping things up properly, interest in another GOT show was dramatically decreased. Would have been so much better to just make this show complete!

Theres a second reason to Why sam shouldnt be a grand maester in kings landing, He was only gonna be a maester so that He could replace aemon. He was Also never excused from the nights watch, making it weirder for him to be the grand maester
Sam showed unusual ability as a student Maester ie finding how to kill White Walkers, finding out about Jon's parentage, and curing Grey Scale. He could do the job.
I think the more egregious crime is making Sam Grand Maester. Sam, who dropped out of the Maester's College. Sam, who is entirely unqualified to be a Maester, let alone Grand Maester to the Lord of the 6 Kingdoms. Sam, who swore and oath to the Night's Watch in Season 1. Tyrion in S8 - "Bran not being able to procreate is a good thing." Tyrion in S7 - "Daenerys not being able to procreate is a horrible thing." God, this season was a dumpster fire.
Edgepatrol and eXpas04 Man, you two must thrive on Freefolk, bad-faith criticisms ignoring context and intentionally inaccurate quotes to make your arguments work.... stellar stuff... Tyrion's issue with Daenerys not being able to procreate was an issue at THAT time when the idea was to make the claim based on her divine lineage and keep the throne in a line of inheritance. because having no direct HEIR is obviously a problem in a LINE OF INHERITANCE. if the line of Inheritance is being ABOLISHED as is the POINT with Bran, then not being able to produce an heir ceases to be a problem... for all the critics' supposed claims of 'intelligence' their ability to ignore basic deductive reasoning is impressive... and Bran said he couldn't be LORD of anything, specifically referring to Winterfell, potentially alluding to having a HIGHER purpose, he couldn't be a lord because he would have another role to fulfil, namely king. again, BASIC DEDUCTIVE REASONING GUYS... this season had major problems, no denying, it rushed to the finish line, the end of the Night King was distinctly abrupt, Daenerys' turn was rushed and her ending wasn't earned. but all these nitpicky bullshit criticisms based on intentionally warping or ignoring authorial intent to suit your argument is just that. BULLSHIT, it's Cinemasins level criticism at its worst. it's IMPERATIVE when criticising something to at least ATTEMPT to view authorial intent, ask yourself WHY certain decisions were made (without resorting to some cop-out argument like 'they got lazy', which is potentially true, but in itself is a lazy presumptuous assertion) this is exactly WHY Alt-Shift-X's videos are so good, because they're ACTUALLY OBJECTIVE. they're detailed in their analysis of flaws, authorial intent and everything in between. they're not just cherry-picked quotes taken out of context and blatant nitpicks.
Now coming back to this, even though I really appreciate the work done, it's easy to see how convoluted and not in character so many things happened in last seasons.
Not only that, but Bronn is also the Lord of Highgarden which makes all the country's food. If he messes up Westeros starves. Just to put a final punctuation on how insane and stupid season 8 really is.
This finale was just a huge Stark orgy, absolutely disgusting. Stark rules the north, Stark rules the 6 kingdoms, Stark rules beyond the wall, Stark probably going to rule west of Westeros too. If Rickon was alive he'd be ruling Essos 😂
Even before Dany went full mad queen (pushed in no small way by the completely unearned distrust and disharmony she got from Sansa AND Arya), I didn't really understand why Sansa was taking such a hard line on the "we fought to get the north back to never bend the knee again" front when Dany was making GIANT steps to try and be friendly with her. First of all, no you didn't Sansa, the whole thing was just about getting rid of the Boltons, especially Ramsey. It's valid you'd want your ancestral home back again, and none of the rest of the north would ever be happy or safe with him still there. But once he was removed, I don't see why she'd be THAT opposed to hang in the north while having Dany be queen and them still part of the realm (& again, this is with a fair assumption that Dany would've gotten there in a whole lot nicer and less genocide-y way). After all, for like a whole 15 years before the main story begins, you're living life in Winterfell that, even though yes officially it's part of the realm, your family had a friendly connection to that existing monarch (Ned to Robert), you're so far away from them that everyone understands you're basically ruling yourself up there anyway in the more daily, practical sense.
Agreed. I was disgusted with the stupid starktard ending. Dany and her 7 years of character arc were scarified so all sleazy treacherous lying Starks could get their cheesy Disney fairy tale happy ending. Absolutely disgusting and retarded. I really hope this is not what GRRM has in mind for the ending or he is a hack and a troll no better than D&D.
@@kevinw712 All that, *and* the fact that Sansa is the one that mentions that the North is running out of food in the earlier episodes, but then decides to cut the North off politically from the Reach? Of all things, I'm actually pretty okay as far as the whole "prince who was promised" prophecy. In fairness, a TV show is simply never going to be able to go deeply into so many elements as the long book series on which its based, and that's something they by design to not try and put TOO much emphasis and layer on. Also the very writer of the books himself often told us "it's dangerous to try and take prophecy too seriously or literally". I think Jon & Dany both can validly still qualify as collectively the prince/ss who was promised, in that Arya was only in the position she was to kill the Night King BECAUSE of the massive group effort that they inspired people to become. Obviously it was mostly just Jon at first, but they simply don't "win" that whole thing w/o her army and dragons. They still helped be significant players in events that helped "bring the new dawn". It's even fair to acknowledge what Jon does to Dany in the end as covering the "Azor Ahai sticks a blade into his lovers heart" part. It doesn't literally ignite that sword, but it sure as hell does push Drogon to lay down the fire to destroy the actual iron throne. Much of the prophecy still basically came true, just not in the most obvious of ways. which again, is pretty much how we were supposed to regard prophecies. btw, this is not to suggest I'm totally okay with all of the elements with how both Jon and Dany's individual stories played out. I've got soooooo many issues there, especially with hers. I'm sort of alright with the notion of Jon going to live in the "true north" because it seems like he may actually have happiness, but Greyworm had to become a complete imbecile for that to wind up happening, the way it did.

@Gabriel Nunes
Not all Targaryens carried the blood Magic. The lines were heavily watered down when it got to GOT. The reason why Jon could ride the dragon was due to his blood.
Grey Worm went from "I'm here to execute a traitor and a murderer and I'm literally holding the knife" to "whatever you guys want" in a single sentence.
Grey worm should have died at kingslanding as part of Danny’s girlboss evolution
Greyworm said to Tyrion "You are not here to talk!". Tyrion immediately proceeds to talk uninterrupted and then casually selects a king.
I'm convinced they just did GoT madlibs for the entire last season.
They passed a Fallout 4 style speech check on him
Grey Worm was literally always a slave. He was a "free slave". He had literally nothing else in his life to live for, and was a slave to his life circumstances. Even while holding the knife, he still had no authority to do anything without someone else's permission.
He was master of war to a dead queen.

"Who has a better story?" Literally anyone else. Nobody knows him, he has no political experience, no claim to the throne, NO PERSONALITY.
AG, I am still mad about this
The only way to explain how Bran won the vote is that he warged into the lords like he had into Hodor and forced them all to vote for him.

It's called character developm... pffffffffthahahahahahahhahahaha
Edgepatrol and eXpas04
Man, you two must thrive on Freefolk, bad-faith criticisms ignoring context and intentionally inaccurate quotes to make your arguments work.... stellar stuff...
BULLSHIT, it's Cinemasins level criticism at its worst.
it's IMPERATIVE when criticising something to at least ATTEMPT to view authorial intent, ask yourself WHY certain decisions were made (without resorting to some cop-out argument like 'they got lazy', which is potentially true, but in itself is a lazy presumptuous assertion)
this is exactly WHY Alt-Shift-X's videos are so good, because they're ACTUALLY OBJECTIVE. they're detailed in their analysis of flaws, authorial intent and everything in between. they're not just cherry-picked quotes taken out of context and blatant nitpicks.

muckymucks The final nail in the coffin! 😂
Randym Martell. The new prince of dorne.

In the books I believe there cousin to Oberyn and Doran Martell.

It was a fine ending man...hell, honestly I feared it could be a disaster, but honestly the fact that the series is left so open is what makes it so damn interesting...
