- Welcome back for another Game of Thrones Season 8 video. As you all know, I have been rewriting the entire ending to Game of Thrones. Since so many fans disliked the ending, I figured I would come up with my own version of the events. This video contains my thoughts on how Game of Thrones should have ended. Twitter is going nuts right now because the official Game of Thrones account tweeted “Winter is coming”. Actually, “Season 8” is trending because people are talking about how bad it was and they hope it’s being remade instead of this being in regards to the new prequels. Point being: I’m sharing the link to this with every person who is talking about how poorly the original was written😂 I told them this is what I imagine now when I think of season 8, not the crap from HBO. I love how well you tied everything together. Things actually made sense and plots that have been building since the beginning were finally completed, properly. I’ve watched this video 3 times! @@steveearle9693 You should. The narration is very well done and the animation is graphic novella style. The stories are creepy and often pretty morbid, though based on true stories. Basically, if you like GoT, you will like their stories.

The whole world would rejoice if HBO redid Season 8. We'd all be more than happy to forget what D&D gave us.
Also jamie lanister is the one that kills dani like he did the queen he leaves his sister to die to the hands of jons youngest sister to take out danni and her final dragon with the last giant crossbows that thay had to save to civilians.
That would be refreshing, but I don’t think HBO is that smart.

@@AryanSingh2512. my friend they didn't even really adapt the 4th or 5th book. Mostly got cersei's plotline correct except I doubt it's going to end quite the same way. Otherwise they ignored all of brienne’s story ariane's story and many other amazing characters were just erased.

Only 10½ minutes in and Bran has already done more than he did on the real show. I honestly can't fathom how the writers could possibly do such a shitty job as they did.

Yeah idk... I would say that maybe d and d had yes men around them agreeing to everything they said but it seemed during the original reading of the last season all the actors were pissed. Who knows... Im sure it come out in some cheesey interview with them in 10-20 years.
They were in too much of a hurry to wrap it up ..I think Star Wars or some other project was in their pipe line..I could be wrong ..
Years later and I'm still salty about how it ended. This would've been a much better, more engaging ending, and would've made more sense. I probably wouldn't have done it exactly the same, but I absolutely would've watched and loved this version.
And Jaime's ending is just perfect. He did so much work and deserved so much better. Thanks for treating him well in your version.
Thank god that, in this version, Jaime will be the new Warden of the West and Lord of Casterly Rock with Tyrion by his side, I wish a similar ending for Jaime in the next 2 books, but I'm kinda pissed that Jaime and Brienne didn't ended up together and didn't tell everyone about the wildfire plot!

I reckon that kinda budget could have been put to better use and I bet they could get everyone back with good pay to do a redo season.

I still say that the reveal of Jon Snow being a Targaeryan should have been achieved by having him doused in dragon fire and walk through it unscathed.
After the disgusting and devastating season ending, my heart was broken and cannot get myself to watch/read or hear anything about GOT. Until today!!! Amazing job you did! Love how you’ve added your own story. This is now my ending! Makes a lot more sense! Thank you!!!

They killed the golden goose tho. We were all so invested in these characters, and in the last season the writers skipped right over their natures'. I think they sank the prequels, because I don't think people will commit to the dense family trees again.

WITH zero emotion from bran; cut to a tear welling in jons eye in remembrance of his love lost. A quick silent cut to ingrids red hair and then her turning and smiling at jon and then cut back to present time and he smirks and carries on the dialogue

This is incredible, man. So many things that connect back to tiny scenes that were a bigger deal in the books. Cersei always thinking Jamie would strangle her, Arya's time as a faceless man, Bran's warging ablities being used on the dragon which we all ALWAYS wanted to see, the white walkers laying waste to the north for episodes and then the double battle, the fulfillment of the prince that was promised and azor ahai, R'hllor and the Melisandre sacrifice and her wanting the Tarly baby, Dany having twins with Jon is something I hadn't even thought of and them being split in their appearance was so perfect. I don't feel the books going in a direction like the show AT ALL. I feel in my soul that all of these little things GRRM has peppered through the series all these years will all pay off like only he can do. I truly feel like the world NEEDS him to finish this story because I would argue with anyone that it is the greatest story ever written. I'll never forget how the show ended, especially with House of the Dragon having just premiered and being absolutely incredible, but the beats and overview of this story are something I'll hold in my heart until the books finally finish and this epic is finally delivered to us all.

I’m just glad Rhaegal and Missandei didn’t need to die to make Daenerys “mad”. Plus her finally breaking the wheel and the fact that Jamie killed Cerci and not some bricks. As well, Bran ACTUALLY USING HIS POWERS.
This. I can't lie, that pissed me off especially when they couldn't even give her adequate screentime with Missandei before she was killed.

This is BY FAR a much better last season. Without comparison to what we got. Hearing you narrate a story that we all care so much about with such love for Martin's creation was cathartic.
This is still a pleasure to listen to. Closed storylines, but an open ending - leaving open all kinds of options. I hope we'll get the pleasure of one day getting to hear or see original stories written by Talking Thrones.

I couldn’t agree more. I particularly enjoyed this version of Jon and Rhaegal bonding with Dany’s encouragement. It is more fitting with Targaryen history and makes the story so much more cohesive. I thought they had the potential to be another King Jaeharys/Good Queen Alysanne together.

I go for an evening walk, a half hour or so, each day. I planned to listen to this over 4 evenings. Didn’t happen. Just walked around my town for 2 hours just listening to what should have been the ending to the greatest TV show ever to grace the screen. Thank you for this, though my feet are killing me.

Absolutely my sentiments exactly. The writers didn't have to destroy her character. TBH she was my main reason for watching. I watch her arc from timid to a powerful young lady.

Don’t get me wrong I love her strong character but she started executing people early on as soon as she gained power. She executed masters just to make a point even though many of them were innocent and so on. Even though she had good intentions she was always on a path to becoming a tyrant. Jon Snow always knew about how power corrupts and he always tried to avoid unnecessary bloodshed and that’s why he refused the crown. That’s the difference between the 2 characters. The ending was the right one as all the characters got justice no matter how likeable they were.
I thought i never have patience to listen all 2 hours... And here I am wishing it never stops! Congratulations, this is very amazing, i hope you'll make it with animations!

It was just so bizarre that the show seemed to say in the last season “you know what made the show great and everyone loved? The lack of plot armour, the realism, the attention to detail, not putting style over substance, etc….let’s do the exact opposite now.”

You say that "If you had more time, you could have written it better". I don't know how much time you had, but I think you could too.
That said, like most others, I believe that this ending was a lot better than what we got from the series. I liked that you actually gave "Mini Sam" a story, a purpose to the series. As it was, it felt like Mini Sam was just there for Sam to feel sympathy for Gilly and that was the sole purpose of "Mini Sam", you gave him a reason to be in the story. I like that a lot.
I like that you break up "The big battle" with the dead into a "round 1" and a " round 2". And that you give all the Cresters sacrificed sons a purpose/explanation. The story that Mini Sam was supposed to be part of, if not for Sam having something to say in the matter. You tie up lose ends very nicely.
I like the way you have Jamie to kill Cersei. A blade is "cold business", poison is "a cowards way", while strangling is "intimate". Jamie was at this point in the story a much changed man, compared to the Jamie we were introduced to in S1E1. He wasn't "cold business" anymore, but had become "a man of honor", he surely wasn't a coward, and yet I'm sure that he must still have loved Cersei. For these reasons I think that you chose the perfect ending to Cersei.
Your explanation of John and just WHY he has this power over the dragons also explains how he could kill Dany, without the dragons retaliate against him. You chose to take their story in a different (better) direction. But your explanation clarifies WHY/HOW he could do so. No one else would have been able to kill her and not get burned/eaten by her dragons in return.
You should put this on your resume if you ever want to get into production.
There s an end credits scene with Bronn, relaxing with the lannister brothers, in his new castle, overlooking a beautiful meadow. And Tyrion finally says the punchline to his jackass joke.

In a way, though, Winter did come. Bran Stark is King of the Six Kingdoms, and Sansa Stark is Queen of the North. 🤔
Miguel Sapochnik, the director of the Long Night episode mentioned after Season 8 that his initial plan was for most characters to die in that battle. They were also supposed to lose and retreat. It’s very similar to this alternate ending but of course D&D refused to go that route. This would’ve been awesome.

I'm only halfway through and I am gobsmacked by your incredible rewrite of season eight. Your storytelling is riveting and I can picture each of these scenes vividly in my mind as you read them aloud. I can't wait to see how it ends!

I’ve read lots of articles justifying the canon ending to this show, and that Arya’s killing the night king was hinted, that subverting fans expectations was better and that the tragic ending was in keeping with game of thrones.
But after 7 seasons of watching the honorable characters blindsided, killed, raped, tortured, and have their entire worlds ripped apart to what felt like no end, we needed to see them succeed. We needed a glimmer of hope, resolution to know that the strife they’d been cast into had not been completely in vain. The story doesn’t have to be perfect, everyone doesn’t have to survive, but there should be pay offs to everything we’ve sat through.
The fact that this retelling of season 8 fulfills all of those requirements, makes me irritated because this random person on the Internet was able to produce a better ending than the writers of the story.
This is the ending I accept. Now if someone could rewrite the ending of Mockingjay...

I would have preferred the white walkers one and killed absolutely everybody. You can’t kill death, death can’t be reasoned with, it doesn’t want anything you have to offer except your life. It should have overrun the entire of the seven kingdoms and the last shot should have been John Snow taking his own life rather than it be taken from him, only for him to rise as an undead staring into the camera with Blueeyes. Christ people, it's a television show. Even though the Last 2 season's were not fantastic and were certainly rushed resulting in ALOT of story needing to be left out and alot of plot lines to be abandoned it is still the best show I have ever seen. Deal with it. This show should still be running and should have had at least 11 seasons to do it properly. The moment I heard they were squeezing 13 episodes into the last 2 seasons I knew we would get bad stories and awful plot points. You should have seen this coming too. Be happy you got what you did. It could have been worse. If you can do better, write some scripts turn them in and learn to do some television magic and hope your story is better than this story cuz I am sorry Talking Thrones fans but this story he proposes is junk. Just found this video today in 2022. I have seen many fan rewriting of the last Season of Game of Thrones. I am convinced at this stage that you could randomly pick any of the top 5 stories fans have created and any of them would be superior to the garbage we saw in Season 8. This video is in my Top 5. This and other videos like this is a work of love and it shows.

26:30 She didn't have iron banks support tho, after Dany destroyed all the gold that was heading from the highgarden to the iron bank, so cersei's debt would be payd, but they never got to their destination.
That would have been a far superior ending to the series than what we got. Only made better if the Dire Wolves engaged in the battles too. I would have loved to have seen Jon on Rhaegal burning wites with Ghost running below helping to defend Sansa and others.
Am I the only one who have always loved the fact that Gendry fights with a warhammer!? It's kind of poetic. Especially since he fights alongside the son of Rheagar and Lyanna. Knowing the history of Robert, Rheagar and Lyanna this is just perfectly done.

@@ghostwolf1435 I never hated the last season of Game of Thrones, I believe people simply just love to complain. They want everything their way, and that is not how it works, unfortunately. Some "quote unquote" fans, do not even know why they hate it, and have no logical arguments to back it up. I have discussed this topic with many people, and more often than not, I am able to make them second guess themselves. At the very least reconsider their initial opinion. Anyhow, we digress.
Enjoyed the rewrite. The one scene I think that is still missing is Arya, Nimeria and the army of wolves in battle. I thought you were about to introduce it when you mentioned the wolves howling.
Damn. This should have been season 8. Holy Moley. Why am I just not finding this.

This ending is AMAZING. The only thing I dislike is Tormund dying, I wanted him and Brienne of Tarth to have giant babies like he said he wanted to. This absolutely should have been how the show ended though. 1000000x better than what they put out. I'm more at peace now I have decided this is the ending that happened and what I watched during Season 8 was a bad nightmare. Thank you for this!

Right there with you. This feels like the real story: all the characters had satisfying conclusions to their plot lines and nobody was cheated out of either a good death or a happy ending, the series had a sensible finale with a proper teaser for the future that I actually want to watch, and I've lost that awful bitter taste.

This version is so much better than what we saw on HBO. Respectful and just ending was given to all characters and there were great dialogues too. It's very obvious how much efforts you would have put in making this video, thank you so much for doing this. In my version I would want to change few things here and there but overall I loved this alternative version of S08.

Yes! Her not becoming pregnant, but Cersei did was so frustrating. Also, the Stark kids ending up ruling everything while Jon went back to the wall after killing yet another woman he loved definitely irked me.
@@MerriMerr the witch who told Cersei she would have three children but they would all die, came true. Even when she said she was pregnant again.. we never know if she actually was, and even if she had been, she never actually gave birth

I used to look forward to these videos every day, theorizing EVERYTHING. Years of speculation and excitement for season 8, just to be left devastated with horrible writing. I cringe just even thinking about Thrones now which is so sad considering it was one of my favorite things ever.
I totally agree. I spent way to much time watching just about all the theories from Azor Ahia to how Jon would learn about his parents to the valanquar etc . All to be ruined by lazy writers.

I remember the amount of videos I watched before the last season and couldn’t wait to find more to the story and the reveal of the secrets but they turned it into something else. They tried to give the things they thought the fans wanted. “Clegane Bowl”, someone actually got the Throne, people “having sex”, Jon and Dannys love story lacked real chemistry, the crazy tumble of Danny, and I didn’t like Tyrion at all. On top of that, the last part of the season was appalling. If GRR Martin has something similar, I will be crushed. I want the book and I hope GRRM keeps it real even though he did say, he is also headed towards this story line. :(
I totally agree Clegane bowl was a joke. The whole redemptive arc for the hound was gone. The best ending for the hound would of been him sailing away with Arya
Agreed. I used to watch a lot of theory videos and going into the final season I was fresh off rewatching season 7 so I felt like I knew where the story was headed but it felt like it was written by different people, like nothing lined up with season 7 at all, in fact they made the entirety of season 7 irrelevant. The great war wasn't even a big deal like they hyped it up to be, Daenerys wasn't pregnant, Cersei's miscarriage scene was cut, iron bank staying loyal to Cersei though it was hinted they would turn on her and other things that they just didn't revisit. It felt like an incoherent story.
I disagree, i like how so many don't get it, cause they don't think about it, and then state the writing is wrong because it's not simple and obvious enough, while also stating that they liked the show before, because schemes and plots were so subtle, and not obvious.
I forgot this was an alternative ending for a second because it was so good!! Jon snow and ghost reuniting brought a tear to my eyes

I found this after two years...and I absolutely loved every minute of it. Didn't think I was going to listen to it in one go but it's so well written and explained. Episodes 3, 4 and 5 😵. This is the end that the show and the fans deserved. I'll watch seasons 1-7 and then come straight to this video.

Jamie killing Cersei was the best part. Jamie Lannister goes from King slayer to Queen slayer. I really wanted him to kill Cersei more than anything in season 8. He ends his sisters tyranny while also ending his incest addiction with her and giving her a less painful death than letting Daenerys get a hold of her.
This is the first time I have watched anything concerning GOT since seeing season 8, which for me was an absolute insult to every viewer who loved the once fabulous series.
I always watched you videos because they were the best and now your rewrite of season 8 would have been a much more plausible and appropriate ending... many more questions were answered in your version and I was very happy that you had both Drogon and Rhaegal survive and also reintroduced the wolves and made it clear how important they were to the story. Your ending for Jon and Daenerys was perfect and other character outcomes worked well. Thank you very much I really enjoyed listening to your complete rewrite! Cheers!
