Aemond is very much a mirror for Daemon. Their names are even anagrams of each other. He sees his brother's weakness and unfitness to rule, but is loyal to him anyway, just like Daemon with Viserys.
Right on. Also, they both are ideal kings for the house targaryen, maybe not the other lords but their house yes. Both Daemon and Aemon are the rulers that the targaryen family needed to restore their position. But they were both looked over because they had a older brother. Imagine Daemon remained Viscerys heir, Deamon was allowed to marry Rheanyra, and Deamon didn't have any sons, and chose Aemon as his heir, or Aemon was the hand of the king to Deamon son. How strong and restored their family would have been. Because both are loyal to their blood line, they name, and retaining their family rule. They understand want it means not to just be king, but to be targaryen.

Came here to say this. The error made was not putting his grandson on the throne but in not killing Rhaenyra. It could also include Aemon accidentally killing her son.

One (sort of shallow ) thing I've got to say - THANK GOD they've revamped Cole's look! The shorter hair and harder, more mature face are a HUGE improvement in buying him as a fierce Medieval warrior! His hair (both styles) in S1, and his soft, slightly baby, face made him look like an Italian teenager from Brooklyn in the 70s and 80s! He looked like he should be eating a slice and going to the disco, like Tony Manaro (or more like one of his less charismatic crew), not fighting dragons in the pseudo- Middle Ages!

I too like rhe shorter hair way better but I think the decision to go with long hair made a lot of sense. He was supposed to look a lot like a naive ideal of a noble knight who is attractive to a young woman. This is obviously deciving and just like with Jame Lannister the impressipn gets turned around. The difference is, that Criston himself bought into the idea of being a nice guy, white knight, Jame didnt do so since long before the show.
@@dr_buschy It's not so much the length, as the layered 70s shag look. I went to HS with guys with the same cut! And his later S.1 shorter cut looked very late 80s, when everyone (guys)was shedding the long hair of the 70s for a somewhat sleeker, more conservative (but still very thick and hair-centric) look. If his early cut is very Saturday Night Fever (also very Shaun or David Cassidy), then the later s. 1 haircut looks like he needs a pastel color suit and loafers without socks, a la Miami Vice. Both cuts were very anachronistic.

I believe in the shot where we see Rhaenyra and Syrax, she is standing opposite to Seasmoke and Laenor. Who perhaps has had a change of heart and returns to fight for Rhaenyra. Reclaiming Seasmoke. Because Laenor being alive means Seasmoke cannot be claimed by another. So long as a dragon's current rider lives, it cannot be claimed by another.
Also, Rhaenys' dragon is named Meleys. You're confusing the queen who never was with her namesake, the younger sister-wife of the conqueror. Who's dragon was Meraxes. Until they both died trying to conquer Dorne.

The commotion involving Alicent in King’s Landing might be from when they paraded Meleys’ head around. The smallfolk hated the idea and most people ended up fleeing King’s Landing. Alicent ordered for the gates to be closed to prevent more people from leaving. That might be what’s happening there.
Well, they were also scared about what would happen to King's Landing, given its a walled city which is basically an oven for dragonfire, in theory.
more likely the people are starving because food trade’s been cut off to the city as Corlys said they’d do in the finale. I don’t think Alicent would be there during the parade of Meleys head, and most of the city cheered that on.

11:10 The Cargyll twins fight at Dragonstone after Blood and Cheese event. Arryk is told to infiltrate Dragonstone to pretend to be his brother Erryk but the real Erryk finds him instead and they fight after they fail to convince each other to switch sides. We will probably see it at the end of episode 2. It will be an extremely emotional fight since they love each other and don't want to fight each other but they fight for opposing sides.
I wonder if the shot of Alicent being grabbed could actually be The Sheppard, looks like the kingsgaurd is about to chop that forearm off. Could be a way of them planting that seed into this earlier season.

I don’t think we’ll see that until Season 3. Season 2 will mainly focus on the main conflict and major battles. Season 3, in my opinion, will focus more on Rhaenyra taking King’s Landing, the storming of the Dragonpit, et cetera

It happends really fast but the riot scene in there you can see the same man that grabbed Alicent in this teaser trailer is on his knees in the background of clip woth just Alicent (not the one of her and Helena) with what appears to be his hand chopped off. Or does the shot just look like that's the case? I've been watching some trailer reactions and no one else seems to catch it either.
The productions looks amazing to nobody’s surprise but I can’t help but think about the absence of nettles and daeron. It just doesn’t sit well with me that they’re probably not going to be in the show

Actually, now I'm curious. What War has Meleys participated in before the Dance? I keep hearing she's experienced in combat but, as far as I remembered, Alyssa and Rhaenys never rode her into battle. Rhaenys was going too, but she was pregnant so her father, Aemon Targaryen, didn't want her to come along. And before her, I'm pretty sure Alyssa was also pregnant, as we know she didn't accompany her father or brothers in the 4th Dornish war, and Baelon later was said to have had more than one reason to be happy, cause she was either pregnant or she had given birth right around that time period.... so, when has Meleys participated in combat before this?
I believe they maybe mean that Meleys has had battle's behind her, of the time when Alyssa Targaryen was her dragonrider. Besides that is Rhaenys a more experienced dragonrider than Aemond and Aegon, since she's been doing it a lot more years + a longer bond between her and her dragon. Making them together a more experienced pair than the young green brothers. 🤷♀🤷♀
Rhaenys didn't participate in a war in her younger years. However, she was a Dragonrider for most of her life, and her bond with Meleys is strong. Also, Meleys is far more "in her prime" than most other dragons at that time (which were either too young or too old to be considered in their prime) and was known to be fast.
Experience and speed can do pretty epic things.
But even though grandma Vhagar is very, very old, she has the most experience at war and is massive. Which is why Vhagar is a match for any dragon that comes her way. Even dragons that are middle-aged and experienced (like Meleys and Caraxes) can't take Vhagar down. It's a tie at best.

Fantastic trailer‼️ I can't wait for season 2 to premier. The new king always hated his grandfather Otto because Otto would manhandle him to make him behave when he was younger. When he was crowned king and looked at Otto it was an expression of hate and that I will oust you first chance I get. I love the trailer and the characters storyline for season 2. If GOT and HOTD have shown us anything it's there are no happy endings. We only have hope that our favorite characters storyline ends with honor. I'm anxious to see my favorite ... Daemon ..unleashing his sword, his dragon and his revenge on the greens. I think Aemond doesn't know what's coming for him.

I interpreted Otto sort of explaining as him telling alicent that the errors that were made was her deciding to not kill rhaenyra straight away but to negotiate instead. I thought it would fit in nicely after the events of blood and cheese.
I think Baela flying around is after ______ dies or she learns about her death. We know in the future Baela does tell her twin that she wanted to go on dragonback and burn down everything when she was angry, so this must be that time and they're going to show it to us in the show.

Many think that's already on her fight with Aegon, but I'm not sure. Assuming this season will end with Rhaenyra taking the capital and the throne rejecting her, I imagine the best finale would just be discovering that Aegon run away in time, without knowing more of him, I don't think adding a whole battle between him and Baela (and specially with how things end then) in the finale would make a lot of sense or make the best pacing. Maybe if they need more action for the finale, but all from before will already be brutal so there's no need to add that too. Opening his first appareance in season 3 like that would be much better. So I think it's mostly as you say, we would just get something else from her and her warrior side before of all of that. If I remember correctly, we barely see her in the events of what season 2 will be and she doesn't do anything, that's not the show's style, they won't make her almost ausent and then just bring her again for a big moment and then leave her again (like, it's fine for the book, as it is a history book, but the show is a different thing), they'll keep her presence and build more till her big moment.
I can't wait for her badass arc honestly.

Rhaenyra’s husband’s family was black washed for woke points, so that was enough. If they cut Nettles it’s more understandable rather than cutting Daeron who’s more relevant just as his dragon is. I really hope they use the original Stark music from Game of Thrones (this must be in the show). There are a couple of things I would like to see, but don't be there. I would also love to hear "the King in the North!" being chanted. I also hope they have them say "Winter is coming". I also hope the Starks we do see share similarities to Ned (personality, morals, looks, etc). Basically, please keep the Starks consistent to what they were in Game of Thrones. Would these thing be fan service? Absolutley. Would these things be nice to hear again? Definitely! The only condition is that it has to work for the story in way that doesn't disrespect or alter the Game of Thrones lore and characters. If they do fan service for the sake of fan service and can't find a way to work it into the story that is meaningful, then it isn't worth it and they shouldn't bother.

I hope, but am not that hopeful, that we'll see a version of the battle over the God's Eye with Daemon and Ceraxes and Aemond and Vhagar this season.
I love the scene with Otto and his daughter at the end of season 1 where he says to either put all Rhanyra and her kids to the sword or to throw herself at her feet and beg for mercy. Otto is the low key star of this entire show, I swear.
Otto shares many similarities with Tywin - he's simply not as utterly ruthless and violent. (Some people would disagree, but I think those people are firmly "team black" and can't make a proper assessment.)
Viserys had the best outlook: set aside your differences and come together as a family.
However, IF that wasn't going to happen, Otto had the most realistic view. Most of the people who pledged their support to Rhaenyra were either dead, or not serious about being ruled by a queen against tradition. (Even if the tradition was stupid.)
I hope Rhaenyra fights in the battles!!! They’ve built her up to be such a bada$$ character!!!

I don't think there are some chance for Helaena and Aemond, it's only 8 episodes but they can show that Aemond wanting everything what Aegon is having. This will be whole Borgias thing, they genuinely remind me of Juan and Cesare.

The clip with the two dragons on the beach is so beautiful but confusing, that dragon looks like a lot of dragons but none at the same time. Seasmoke? He doesn't have red parts so idk. Dreamfyre? Could be, but she's way too small and besides what would Helaena have to do with her? Silverwing? Could be, but again she's way too small and it's way too early to introduce Ulf the White. Stormcloud? Way too big, Aegon was too small to ride him too. Grey Ghost? Maybe they made him tamed by someone close to Rhaenyra and that's why she's there. Idk it's so confusing
It's Seasmoke. Given the setting, on a remote sandbank, I think this is a secret reunion between Rhaenyra and Laenor.

The fall of house started when viscerys was made king. The wrong king was choosen, no rhaenys was not the best choice she was married to another house. Her kids do not truly carry the targaryen name. Viscerys made 4 key mistakes that destroyed his house 1. Not making his brother hand of the king. 2. Removing his brother as heir. 3. Not marry rhaenyra to daemon. 4. Remarry out of the house. Daemon would have been the best king choice and always has been. Due to his loyalty to his family name and their position in westros. Yes, it said he would have been a bad king for whom? And who was saying it. The other house lords. Because if he became king, they knew their power would dwindle. The common folk of king landing loved deamon. Therefore, he knew how to win favor of the people. Which was also a strength that his brother was blinded to. It was not that daemon would have been a bad king. It was that the other lords feared what would happen to their power if daemon was king. Daemon would have strengthen his house and returned the fear of house of the dragon back to westros. If visceys would have wedded daemon to rhaenyra, that would have symbolized unity of the house. It would be symbol of their family unity to westros. The targaryen house lost it unity and bond. The other house knew if Daemon became king. Their climb to power would have been halted, because the line of recession would have been all targaryen. I believe deamon would have reinstalled in the remaining targaryen since of sacredness of their bloodline. Because daemon truly believed they were blood of the dragon. Instead, of going to war with one another. House targaryen, with house velaryon would have been restored as a united force with an army of dragons and the worlds best fleet. That is what the other houses truly feared of the ideal of deamon being king. No one would have dared to even be perceived as underminding their power. Deamon was only a bad king for the other house and because he didn't become king house targaryen and velaryon lost their power. As a result the other house became stronger.

8:25 im pretty sure that isnt seasmoke. Seasmoke as shown in season 1 and earlier in this very trailer has his pink wing membranes. This dragon is white/grey and looks possibly too large to be seasmoke. I believe this is probably silverwing

I'm thinking it's Dreamfyre and Helaena facing Rhaenyra. The size is definitely more closer to be dreamfyre or silverwing than seasmoke. But the design of the dragon is so similar to daenerys' dragons (rumor has it Daenerys' dragon eggs come from dreamfyre' clutch). Maybe this scene is some kind of dream sequence, Rhaenyra's guilt after the blood and cheese incident. Or it could be just simply silverwing and ulf the white break the news to rhaenyra after the battle of gullet.
It's Seasmoke. The size is about right. Dreamfyre would be way larger. She's older than Caraxes. It's either Rhaenyra finding Addam or talking to Laenor.
@@user-ti5cw1ug6l yeah i just saw the leak for addam on twitter and this person is likely to be him. Judging by his appearances (hair color and outfit). Most likely Rhaenyra saw Seasmoke flying, follow him, thought it could be leanor but meet with addam instead.

I think Deamon is beheading the steward or castalan of Harrenhal. Because in the book he assabled an army there to march at Kingslanding. Thing is he wipes out the rest of House Strong, exept Larys.
He could be beheading Simon Strong, who was the steward of Harrenhal and Larys’s great-uncle.

Because Alicent is the standing queen whose overseeing the war effort with her father Otto. It’s a similar situation to GOT,Joffrey was made king but Cersi/Tywin were the ones really running things because the king was essentially still a child.

It doesn’t begin without the rift between Rhaenyra and Alicent and she’s the head of the house as Aegon ages and starts to begin his reign. You do realize the entire dynamic doesn’t remain this way right? That Aegon ages and eventually is the main front of the opposition to Rhaenyra?
Aegon is basically just a puppet of Alicent and Otto. Rhaenyra and Alicent are the much more connected characters in this story, the focus on Alicent is absolutely justified.
