Paddy Considine deserves an award for his perfomance. This is one of the best performances I've seen on television in a long time

I honestly think all of the cast was extremely good. I also love Eve Best (Rhaenys) very good actress.
Paddy Considine deserves an Emmy bc in hindsight, no other actor would have played King Viserys with so much nuance. All the layers of his love: Rhaenyra linked to also his rule to the loss of his wife Aemma and his subsequent duty to his uplift daughter bc of his guilt + self punishment never asking to be healed ... please give that man his hardware.
Ikr even George said that Paddy brought something else to Viserys. His character is frustrating but the actor makes him so likeable.

But the link with Alicent was a horrible one. Ofc it's not his fault that the storyline just rushed... Not enough has shown to us about why he chose Alicent as his new wife and I think he even felt disgusted himself as a 40-50 year old guy to have a sexual connection with a teenage looking girl.

One cool detail is that Caraxys is the only dragon we see with a really long neck and serpentine body. On the narration they made for the lore during GoT Robert Baratheon said that Daemon was always more snake then Dragon, and to be fair he's at his best not when he's bold and aggressive but vicious. It's nice that his dragon is a mirror of this aspect.

The casting was truly fantastic. I could tell from the first episode the cast has great chemistry, and the behind the scenes stuff only confirms it. Seems like the actors genuinely like each other.

Yes, but the sets being built as real life size is always appreciated by the audiences. We want more practical effects and real scope. It’s reminiscent of old hollywood and I love it.
Watching King Viserys the Peaceful jamming the air guitar in the woods is the best feeling ever.
They are chilling and we are anxiously waiting to watch them tear each other apart.
Paddy is superb. Matt smith is so good, says so much w no words. Emma is amazing too. The chemistry is so obvious. But yes,give paddy c his hardware for this role. Our peaceful king

It is quite a wholesome funny image to see King Viserys the Peaceful with an awesome electric guitar.
Such a beautiful series. We are back in fantasy world, it is ours again after our world was destroyed at the end of GOT in many different ways. I resented the writers having 'stolen' from me the love for the show and the yearning for the moment when all would resolve itself; this did not happen because the writers/producers shipwrecked the whole thing. The HOTD crew will stay lovable, on and off screen. Not only is the casting superb and the acting skills stunning, this crew knows that every single thing, including our love for them and for the show, can go downhill in 30 min. They saw it happen on GOT. I don't think that any of them will make any mistake like those we experienced in season 8. It is my feeling that nobody wants to gamble on our love for this series and on our love for the characters. This show feels so centered and solid as a result. We can breathe again, and we can love all of them.
They ruined it with all the woke characters, IMO.
I find it mean that they actually cut a lot of "nice Daemon" scenes out of the show.. I think its to build him more up as cruel or evil.. like kinda "someone who embraces his kids in season 2 cant be a child murderer in season2" or something.. that choke at the end really made me afraid of stuff like that

The aemonds are pretty equal to me.. young aegon though was good. Makes sense when you look at his family
I think the Aemonds did a good job as a duo.
Young Aemond did a fantastic job showing the shift from being a child to how he is when he’s older. And did a great job showing how his experience growing up influenced his personality as an adult.
And older Aemond did a great job showing just how much he had grown and improved as a fighter. And how confident he had become since being a bit timid as a kid

I wanna see that deleted scene with Daemon and his daughters. I think 2 things I wanted were scenes of daemon and his daughters and more scenes with Harwin Strong.
Valerian steel, Aegon's Dream, all made up, but I won't for one moment accept that Vhagar is a tennis ball.

This one season (the first few episodes alone) made me for get about the last few (dissapointing) seasons of Game of Thrones. Ah everyone and everything was absolutely amazing. Sad that we have to wait till 2024 for the next season.

I really wish they gave us more of them younger. The books apparently had more content for them to use. It’s the first season I get the story get good as adults but some of those small things make more sense to why it escalated. Idk I feel they time jumped alittle much even as adults it feels so fast I don’t understand how this is gonna be more then 3 seasons unless they do the full Targaryen history then at that they shoulda started from the beginning

Nah. Im from the High Peak District in derbyshire. And on the 4th of september 2021 i saw fuck tonnes of production lorries go past and on the back of one of the trucks was the Targaryen horse wagon thingy. Which means they were probably around episode 4 with filming (half way through-ish) and then HOTD released in september of this year. So I imagine its gonna be 2024 tbh. And obviously all the post-production stuff has to take place too so...
@@noverrr4508 First seasons take always longer to produce because one needs to build all the sets(=cities, castle, dragons, clothes etc...) while the follow up seasons can use the sets of the first season besides we had covid during the production of the first season, Season 2 should arrive in early 2024 at the latest.

Really loving the show so far! In terms of quality it's close to being as good as the early seasons of GoT. My only issue is how they switched actors in the middle. All the actors in both halves of the show did an excellent job, but it just threw me way off as I didn't even know a time jump was coming, let alone that they were gonna have new people playing the same characters. Took me like half the episode to figure out what the fuck was going on lmao Also personally I do miss Millie Allcock or however you spell her name as Rheneyra or however you spell HER name lmao
It was actually a good thing. I can't imagine these young actresses playing being mothers of 3 or more children. And the older actress actually did a really good job to show the mature version of the characters of Alicent and Rhaenyra

I could never really get into House of the Dragon, the first time i watch Game of Thrones i loved every episode. But this show just felt like i was trying to get though each episode, i do think season 2 will be way better then the first.

Same. The production was top notch, acting too. But I didn't like certain changes to the storyline. Like Aemond killing Luc "on accident" ffs. 🙄 Or them having Daemon kill his 1st wife. They sorta did Team Black dirty in season 1.

@@KabbalahSherry let us be honest most of the changes are much better than the bad ones. Aemond having conflicting feeling after killing Luc was a better change tbh it gives more layers to thr characters. Same goes with Alicent in the show she has more grey layers and much better character overall than her book counterpart. In the book she is just another Cersei. The only scene in the show that I really disliked was the end of episode 9 when Rhaenys showed up with her dragon killing a lot of innocents and not ending the green faction when she had the chance.

HOD did NOT exceed mine or any of my GOT fan friends’ expectations! Not even Close! Super slow show wasting So Much time on complete silence or confusing boring conversations. No action to speak of! A boring episode 9 when the trailers led us to believe it was gonna be another Game of Thrones style penultimate season episode. No war and leaves us completely hanging in the final episode. Nothing to make us favor any characters. This doesn’t hold a candle to GOT! Hated it and fought to stay awake.
The things Emma, I love how Rhanaeyra was played, but Im not a fond of how their mouth moves. It looks weird like its twitching or something

I thought so, as well. I like the idea of different types/breeds(?), but sacrificing the imposing presence and look that Dany's three had for the sake of "new" and "fresh" was not what I envisioned. Having read the books, I was supremely disappointed with the way they took Vhagar. The size was about all I thought the show runners got right. Vermithor is the last beacon of dragonly hope I have left.
@@dullahan7677 In my opinion Vhagar’s design isn’t as bad as what people make it out to be. Yes the lack of horns might be a bit weird since we’re used to dragons having a bunch of them. But the rest of the design is pretty good imo, the texture of her old saggy skin makes sense considering she’s 180 years old by this point. I do feel like they over exaggerated her neck. The rest of the design is fine though
@@nandolorris4960 I feel like their necks are longer and thinner looking, almost like dinosaurs in a way. I thought Danys dragons suited what dragons would look like in my head the ones in hotD or at least some of the shots of the dragins didn't do some justice
