Yeah I was in contact with tech support about this. The M1103 update fixed my issues, of course with Text Clarity on. I picked this TV over a more expensive LG C2 because it supported BOTH Dolby Vision and HDR10+, but in hindsight, wish I would've gotten the LG so I wouldn't have had to deal with the issues. While the update with text clarity mode, allowed me the full res I wanted, there are times at 120hz the TV starts blacking in and out. After dealing with Tech support previously, I'm just kinda wore out and don't feel like having to ship this thing back. I'll probably replace it and give this to someone who'll never need more than 60hz.
If you switch the TV to text Clarity it will look alot sharper, then just turn down the contrast or brightness to get back the same picture, text clarity is the only way to get a true 4k 120hz single to display properly on the TV, when you use quality it's halving the reselution, that's why it doesn't look nearly as sharp!
Text clarity totally blows out the highlights. Any idea how to compensate for that in the settings? I'm on PS5 and there is no go-to way to calibrate the HDR while in 120hz mode.
Hey there Max, you seem to have the best Videos on the U8H, I am seriously considering this Display... With your experience.. did the most recent FW from Hisense for the U8H fix the "Verticle Resolution Halving" within 4k120hz???
Yes ! I'm playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla now. That's where I'm seeing it. Severe posterization is still the same on my U8H. Best Buy is delivering a 65" Sony X95J next week. Swapping this TV out. Blooming and deep blacks does live up to the hype. But all this means nothing if this TV can't process the picture between the black bars. If Hisense keeps this winning formula of deep blacks and blooming control while maintaining bright specular highlights, and beef up the processing for 2023, I will give them another chance as I might give this coming X95J to my Dad next year. I'll check in a little bit to see if the settings are still the same. I'll check for that "Picture Quality Optimization" setting.
@@5000NATE Still hasn’t arrived yet. They said it is being shipped to their warehouse and that they would contact me to schedule a delivery date. I’ll let you know when I get it hopefully this week.
@@myquietreviews The TV is gone now. Got it swapped out. Here's hoping for future Hisense models. I will say they really are on to something. All they need to do is beef up the processing and get rid of that posterization (severe) and they will surpass all the big manufacturers when it comes to LCD technology.
Max, as said in the comments below, text clarity mode is what allows for the full vertical resolution at 120hz, However With the U8G this would massively wash out 4:4:4 signals. (series x HDR or SDR 10bit), can you test to see if an Xbox running 120Hz in HDR on Text Clarity mode will heavily wash out picture quality? You can switch to picture Quality Mode to compare on the fly.
When I run the calibration app in the Xbox SX with 120hz I end up with brightness at 30, contrast at 80, witch takes makes basically the same picture as was in 60hz
Hey Max the funny thing about updates is sometimes they can mess up a perfectly good TV. If the TV is up to your satisfaction and it's dialed in the way you want it to look then maybe don't rush to update unless you find out it's a solid update and not a update that will brick your TV.
@@batman200 The U8H is a decent tv. If I didn’t make a comparison to the 85” X95K, you wouldn’t notice it in person. However, the posterization on the U8H is still an issue, it’s noticeable when playing games and watching content. Hisense did an excellent job cleaning up the posterization, but it’s still present after the firmware update. If you’re on the fence about the U8H I might just wait until the U8K to come out during the spring time.

You’re 100% correct because I found that out a few day’s ago & thought I was going F’n crazy 🤦🏾🤷🏾
This tv is Dope 🔥🔥🔥🔥 The only complaint I have is FreeSync is trash but I have a Nvidia GPU so I don’t use it anyway
So I should use text clarity over picture clarity? Because when I enable freesync my graphics gets soft and not sharp like before.
@@antonioalmendarez8241 Yes & it works no BS!!! Come back to the comments & let me know what you think
But after doing that I just left my contrast & brightness on default & I found it to be fine like that but to each is own 👍🏿

Max is the Verticle resolution being halved @4k120 fixed? meaning Fixed and Full res after the most recent FW Update????
No, it's everything to do with the 2022 Hisense processor. It won’t change with the U8H. With the U8K, it might change.

Yeah imma skip out on the Hisense u8h because of the posterization issue. Imma buy the U7H or the TCL 5 series (S555) instead

Why does uh8 look like it devoid of green in comparison with the Sony?
The U8H is not great when it comes to gaming. When going against the 85” X95K, it lacks contrast.
