This car is just stunning. Period. that Olive green is a perfect British color on this car. In the USA, where i live, the Diamler trim level wasn't offered but was the Jaguar equivilent of the Vanden Plas trim level. Different grille, trunk chrome lock piece, picnic tables on the back of the front seats and much more. I have always loved the XJ40 body style as nothing else looks like it on the road. Even back in 1988 when this car was released in the USA, it was always a beauty. Whoever stored this car for all those years preserved it in near dealer showroom condition. Hope it finds a new home who will cherish it.
where i worked in 1987 - a company rep came to there with his brand new Daimler same as this one.....he was a good guy and even let me sit in driver seat........id just bought a volvo 480 the previous month which id let him sit in :)
@@Azureecosse Just looked this up. Prior to 2000 the DOT codes consisted of 3 digits. The last digit being the 'year' . But as I read, for example, if it was a 7 that could mean 1997, 1987. I've cut and paste this next bit "However, before the year 2000, the date code was only 3 digits, so the first two would be the week of manufacture, and the last would be the year, so without any listing of decade, a 247 date code could either be the 24th week of 1997, 1987, or 1977 (Date stamps went back at least to the 1970s)."

Yes please .
Simply gorgeous.
Now that I’m 50, I could possibly say I’m old enough to drive one of these ….😀😀😀
Lovely example of a true future classic. This car need to go in a heritage centre or classic car museum
I agree, it really should be preserved. Tyres for metric (390mm) rims might be almost impossible to source. They were never cheap.

Someone is in for a treat. Almost sacrilege to put miles on it. Love that colour.
Exceptional example - end of !
Wow d reg and like new shoud be kept like it is in a collection somewhere , the owner done a nice job keeping it clean 👌
Very nice to see!
Very smart nice unusual colour 👍 ❤😊
Wonderful car🎉
Must be a date mark on the tyres?
Just WOW!
Was it kept in an air bubble ? It looks brand new.
It's valuation is highly subjective. Has to be the best in the world.
Yes, surely.
😊😊lovely car , needs to be used . Put my golf clubs in the boot. 😊all set to go 😊
Wonderful !. Certainly a car to use. Sometimes it’s a shame that they are mothballed for very long periods.
A fantastic example .
Exceptional! But then its a XJ40 and a 3.6. What do you do with a car like that? Neither a collectible nor a daily. Very niche.
Lovely, but do such cars make you a prisoner to their mileage?
wouldn't me, drive in style and enjoy!
Wow, stunning.
...and post the XJ X351 model - look at Jaguar now - most of their models now should not bear the Jaguar name.
Is this a long wheelbase?
Dates will be on tyres
don't believe tyres in the 80s had date codes I have a 1985, RR Vogue with the original spare wheel and unused the tyre has no date code.

All very nice but how much is it?
We are an auction house. The Daimler goes to auction on the 20th of July.
@@wbsons9956 yes I realise it's going through an auction room but there must be a reserve that you could have mentioned
