VW Westfalia Camper - Stunning Restored Example
Not being funny but seats faded cheap tyres Poor resto I’m afraid Should have kept it silver too. How not to restore a car
Pretty rotten all round then. Significant expenditure required to make this one solid 😢
Damn good cars in their day( along with Riley1.5)
Make a good car this
To restore this everything must have been stripped bare, the chassis dipped, modern rust proofing, then rebuilt. Amazing. I had two 240s one a GLT, rust got to them in the end.
For interest sake, It was stripped bare I used to own this car and had it restored by Ian Kellett of Ik classics in Holmfirth Yorkshire .
Only one word to describe it. Starts with F and ends in ED.
Yes the seats on this grade of model ARE leather
has this car been changed to a 5 speed as the early ones only came with 4 speed also prefer the original 2 spoke steering wheel i even had the 2 spoke in one of my series 1 rs turbos allways felt smaller and chunkier
I owned that car and restored it to that standard.. it had 42 k on the clock when I sold it about 6/7 hrs ago.
Battery facing round the wrong way 😂
Kendal registered Escort XR3
VERY VERY NICE MAN!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! 💚🤍❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
How can this guy not comment on the jacked up obvious thing?
WTF! It’s on stilts
To the previous comments re wrong spec, I’ll add the spotlights, they’re supposed to be high beam spotlights not the fog lights that are fitted.
Rear arches are full of filler
My pal had one back in the eighties when I was driving an eleven hundred HB Viva...nuff said.
Nice 😎
Has it been converted to run on unleaded ??
Just fantastic no need to say any more ❤❤😊😊
Wrong radio cassette, wring door cards. Panel gaps are piss poor. You're going around the car pointing out about good rubbers, no rust etc.......if its had a restoration, then you wont find any, will you.
I remember when these came out. Only a young kid but I always thought the design on this he outside fell short of what it couid be , especially the back and the definned design. Even then it felt too conservative . How cars have moved on . My 20 year old Volvo v70 has more standard features than this top luxury car.
Wrong steering wheel, stereo, sits like a 4x4 looks like a SA car?
No dust covers on rear shocks😬🤔
Nice restoration, but I was surprised the twin coastlines were not reapplied as a proper Rolls-Royce.
The Tin worm's favourite meal! My dad owned one of these in black, he was forever patching up rust holes in the sills & door bottoms! Got about 20 years & 107K miles out of it, which was pretty good going for a car of that era!
Superb example of a proper old Volvo, the paint finish is amazing!
The beautiful big car !
Once you get past its size, probably very easy to drive. Looks great!
Hehe, he slipped up at the end and called it an XR3i.
The previous FB model was much more beautiful.
Its sitting way too high .panel gaps are poor .
Don't understand why it would sit as high as that.odd
100% mate. For a restoration, it's not done to a high standard all. The front drivers wing looks a slightly lighter shade too.
Panel gaps are good? Think you should check them again. Gaps are terrible... looks a poor resto.
Totally agree, most things look great on screen and worse in the flesh and these look bad here, gaps all over the place.
They came out the factory with crap panel gaps, it’s a good resto with authentic shitty gaps 😂
@@markevans2280 talking absolute rubbish. Unless ya joking about the factory bit.
Is this a SA import ?
so that would explain why its 5 speed on a x reg hate the sa imports guy up my end imports them some of them look awfull
A super rare and desirable classic, if you haven't owned one you cannot know just how incredibly comfortable the seats were, like padded armchairs ......Wonderful
Well smart unusual colour but it wouldn't put me off it 😊❤
The perfect town car,,,fit an electric motor and you have Elons fridge,,,😎
Love it, a work of art, ugly art but I love it 😅
Dave Mckees restoration?
No, mot mine
I prefer the yellow to silver, but as it is a colour change car that kills the appeal for me.
Yes, I'd have preferred the original Stratos (?) silver, certainly.
Gorgeous old escort that
Lovely Volvo 164 . This is my favorite make of Volvo model. I like the twin headlights . The 264 GL i like too.
What a beauty ! Always liked these.
God....Zeus...
Stunning
My brother had a race with a Honda CB750 on the M62 around the Selby way big Volvo won topping 115mph keeping 100 up for mile after mile
Worked In a Renault garage in the 70s loved the 16
I owned a burgundy 164, same year, back in 1974. It was manual with overdrive too. A wonderful car that took me on many long journeys to Paris & Cornwall. Sold it to my father who kept it for many years.
Lovely old example when volvos were volvos 😊❤
Beautiful I assume it must have power steering? Be murder parking without it
