- Pink Floyd Live Nassau Coliseum 23rd August 1988
The actual recording date they used for the Delicate Sound Of Thunder VHS and Live Album
This is an audience recording raw live sound from that night
The solo is longer then on the Delicate Sound Of Thunder Live Album
A number songs from this night ended up on the official live releases
This is my favorite rendition of this song ever. Thank you, so much, for not letting this version get lost in time. I get shivers up my spine every time I listen, I would give anything to have been able to see this live.
One of the best versions of ''Comfortably Numb'' in Nassau Coliseum, Long Island, New York, USA on August 23rd, 1988th. Appears on the official album of Pink Floyd, ''Delicate Sound of Thunder'' both CD and DVD/VHS.
this is, no questions asked, the best, most emotional and greatest guitar solo of all times. Period. Would have loved tohave found this version on the album though :)
Pink Floyd - 1988 - Delicate Sound of Thunder ?
@@Orangevirus the solo is edited, they cut a piece of it :(
MY GOD!!! WHY DID THEY CUT THIS??? I've been wanting to hear the unedited version of this for a long time. Thanks for uploading man!
EL MEJOR SOLO DE GUITARRA DE LA HISTORIA DEL ROCK , DAVID GILMOUR UN MAESTRO.
This is SICK! Had the good fortune of attending this show. The whole show was EPIC!
Listening to this live performance, I got to about the halfway point of the second solo and I was already crying...
I don’t know how much of the audience sound was edited out of PULSE, but they’re giving David almost as much as he’s giving back to them. When the symmetry between and artist and the audience is perfect this is what you get. It must be an incredible feeling. I compare every live C Numb solo to this one. They’re all great, but this is the best by far. Especially the CD arrangement. Whatever the reason, David Gilmour was on another lever this night.
Epic...nothing, really nothing, like the perfect guitar solo performed in that occasion! That push you away for the emotions transmitted...directly to your soul.
6th row I was there 5 nights in a row for this.. epic
I agree with you 100%, every time hear the ending part of the solo I feel like crying...
You're Absolutely Right... This IS the best version I've heard... The solo IS the whole point of the song. What kind of idiot would make it less? Thanks for turning me on to your channel. Peace
(On a 5.1 system you really get the bootleg quality with the people talking near the person recording it.)
Oh my God, man...this is awesome!
I spent many nights looking for this band. Thank you so much! Now, I got the full album. Have no words to say how magical it is. They perform the best version of each song in my humble opinion, especially this one. Nice job, brother!
David Gilmour at the peak of his art.
OMG...this brings back memories!! was at that concert and it was unbelievable!! Thanks for uploading this one
Dave the best of Guitar!!.
one of the best "solos" out there...from 4.50...hat of...epic...peace in hell...ther`s another one as long as this but with fare better sound....think when we lose these original masters....and we`r left with the "sample duudes "...it will be an empty planet ! :/
i was there! :)) thanks for posting!
The best version for sure! Jesus!!!
Best version ever!!
@MrKoiking1 I was nineteen and when the tour arrived in Italy in 1989, I have been to two concerts: in Venice and Monza ...... simply astonishing !!!!
never knew they cut 2 mins off the recorded version. this is epic! wish i was there. well i wasn't born then so no way. my dad was. i think i can hear him in the shouting behind you maybe. might just be my mind
Dave was a awesome guitarrist! So Great Song And Guitar solo!
While I LOVE the new remixed version of this recording from 2019, I found it to be a thrill listening to the audience recording and hearing it uncut... :D
awesome, i can still feel da same i felt da first time i listen it
The "Official" version sounds dull and flat compared to this. This makes you feel like you're at the concert. Something the CD and VHS completely fail to do.
This is very cool stuff Aaron, cheers for uploading it..!
the part of the solo they cut to make the CD is between 6:14 and 7:11, and much of the solo between 7:30 and 9:00 are completely different. So, I guess the CD has a few parts from a different concert edited in. I have memorized the cd solo, so this version is what sounds weird and edited to me, while the CD feels more natural. Guess I gotta get used to this one.
Does anybody else prefer the Wright/Pratt/Carin rendition of Waters' part? Waters sings it so plainly and boringly while in this version their part sounds more melodic and intense.
Wow, on my birthday! This would've a great birthday present for me at the time...however as a 3-year, I probably wouldn't realised what was going on haha.
Anyway, I do like this (Delicate Sound of Thunder) version out of all his live performances of this solo the best...the ones that have been released as a CD that is. I never had the honour of seeing them in the flesh.
@musicofthen Yea, every solo is played differently; they follow the same melodic contour, same chord progression, but the exact notes, the timbre, how he attacks the notes, etc is qualitatively distinct. You're right (and I was right at first), this is just edited. I guess I assumed they just made one clear cut rather then several. Now, let's pay closer attention... Okay, it's cut between 6:14 and 7:11, and then 8:03 till 8:58. I'm confident about this. Lengths match: 2 cuts, 2 mins shorter
The closest I've got to this is the Australian Pink Floyd...not quite the same but it's the best I can hope for. I was born too late. >
Standing right beside you, brother!
@hellswinter Actually, now that I think about it, It seems like they cut the solo from this night at 6:14, then edited in the 2nd part of the solo from a completely different night (one with a shorter second half) starting from the note that appears on this version at 7:11.
I think that the version definitely epic is the one contained in the double album "The Delicate Sound of Thunder", also the final solo is the most successful, most dramatic, there is a tension in that solo that makes me move every time . It 'absolutely the perfect song with the perfect solo, they have done well to cut it in the album, this one I don't like at all
I've seen the real Pink Floyd live 4 times. Aussie Floyd, considerably more than that. Really, there's not a lot between it.
@aburrows2008 i have a second recorder of this night, the surprise is the complete live version of "One Slip", was released in the hub In Floy We Trust, cheers
could you send me that in DM in MP3 format as would love to hear that second recorder of this show
@@aburrows2008 cheers
Personally I would prefer that they kept the entire guitar solo in the new DSOT remix and movie. It's an amazing performance from David.
this is the best dsot version why did they cut some parts both on 1988 dsot and 2019 remix versions ı wish this versions good audio one will come
Was there.
@FreedomLover1973 2 people, apparently, do not see your point. But being a huge Floyd fan myself, I do, and I most certainly agree with it. I mean, who wouldn't enjoy a solo like this, you know?!
@Silber7
I don't know whey they edited it so much.. i read once David overdubbed the guitar solo and also some harmonies were replaced by studio re-takes
Even the Laserdisc i have got a different tracklist then the album.. Signs of live is on that Canadian dvd that floats around.. I guess at that time they hadn't enough space on a dvd so they cut and pasted till it fitted.. shame really!!! Wonder if the full still exists. Would love to see that ;)
@nipplebrush
Yea, it is. I guess you didn't catch my more recent post. There are two cuts (this is why I was confused at first); one between 6:14 and 7:11, and one between 8:03 and 8:58. 2 mins of the solo cut down (altogether). I mistook these cut parts for being alternates rather than merely omissions. PS: I actually prefer the cut down CD/Vinyl version, probably mainly because I'm more familiar with it.
EPIC!
wow.. epic.. no words..
Maybe it would have been too disturbing for the casual listener if they put it on the album in that lenght :>
Btw, since you compared this, maybe can you tell what nights the tracks from the live album really come from? Are they edited, or maybe, did they use this (23) night only?? In the film, they mixed at least some open air footage from France into it, so this is heavily edited... I don't have boots from these shows to compare note by note like I would like to do ^^
Immenso Gilmour❤️❤️❤️
@Silber7
Money is also from this night
Yes you're right htns version is much better than the version on "The wall" !
Why in The Name of FUCK did they cut this down for the offical release!?. Just so they could Fuck up a good thing?
they cut numb and turning away solos and I can't believe they did that. they've never played that well before or since and they pull that shit.😒
god
come on guys, this is NOT the version of the double CD Del Sound of Th., as I have the original
yes it is the solo is the uncut version of CN. The version on the offical DSOT is the edited version from this night.
Yes it is, all of the licks and riffs from the official DSOT release are in this bootleg recording.
Win
this is David Gilmur!!!!
its overkill
Um, I can hear David singing just about ok, but the harmonic accompaniments are ....omg....dire....
Is Roger singing or something?......terrible.
Shame really, as this is sacred Floyd!.....at least his guitar gives you the goose bumps that makes any imperfections wash away :) ahhhhhh that strat :)
Dan J Rog left the band in '83 so must of been Dave
