Not very far into the video yet but I'm glad you're talking about his voice and vocal inflection. I think he's one of the more earnestly emotive rappers I've heard. That and his flow are his biggest strengths to me, he's a really good writer but the whole package expresses a lot more than the lyrics alone do, especially the more you revisit it (and I revisited it A LOT as a college freshman who was horribly depressed and getting into weed lol, so I have a lot of memories attached to it now). A lot of other hip-hop projects that have stronger qualities than this, but when it comes to just how much it resonates with me emotionally and how much beauty it contains in my eyes, I don't know if anything can match it.

Super stoked you’re digging into his work! Can’t believe this album is 10 already. Sometimes rapping is just talking shit, vibing out, and feeling yourself. Webbie Flow feels like he’s on that fun and manic braggadocio vibe, and I think it’s more about the feeling of the cadence and the energy he’s bringing, and less about lyrical analysis. Not sure if digging deeper into those lyrics would yield the return on investment some other tracks would. Just how I feel about certain songs in music in general. Music isn’t always about intellectualizing the lyricism, sometimes it’s more about feeling, vibing, and sensing the artist’s “shine”.

Part of why I love Isaiah Rashad’s music is being from Chattanooga you can understand his music a lil bit better. “Never hit her raw again, fucking with the law again” is him saying he’s never having unprotected sex with a hoe again because he ended up with a hoe as a bm and he dealing with child support. “Picking up trash on highways, never my way” he’s saying from dealing with all that landed him in jail/courts and in TN (maybe other states) inmates clean up the interstate to reduce their time or fines that their charged.

The lyrics of Tranquility are probably the most interesting on the whole album. I believe the line “they kill for a blessing” could be interpreted that these figures have killed to benefit themselves, but also in Christianity, the death of Jesus is seen as gift, dying on the cross to wash away our sins. So when he says “thank god for the shooter” it’s because without the shooter, Jesus wouldn’t have died for our sins. He’s thanking God for creating the shooter, who in turn has blessed us. Him saying “they came from the heavens” is throwing out the question wether or not they are truly evil for their actions, if killing Jesus was actually a part of gods plan. There’s definitely more to take away from some of the lines but I love how he wrote that hook.

“they treat lyrics like i hold triggers
Then downplay what I’ve been given”
i’ve always interpreted that as the media taking everything in hiphop literal to make a point. look at these violent individuals type of comments they make. While at the same time downplaying his talent. “Rap isn’t music it’s just talking” right? How many times have we heard that.

After watching this video again 48:18 I find at this point here the thing and I would say most would consider it a huge critic or thing they love about him is he has his pocket especially within instrumentals and I find often meshes or blends in so much that they almost merge and can often go unnoticed. This I find extremely evident on other projects where it almost is fully in the beat and they are almost hard to separate. Suns tirade is good but has some great highs and some very big lows when compared to this ep I find Brad Jordan to be the only huge miss
