It's funny that Logan lists off names of authors like a literary whiz. I love Jess's response 'you seem obsessed with length' it shows he's not intimidated or thrown and also puts Logan in his place on the presumption that longer works mean better authors. Logan's the son of a renowned newspaper owner and a Yale student so he's obviously well read but he's pulling that whole 'Jess must be a blue collar fake writer' thing and has no idea that Jess could probably run circles around him with his knowledge of literature. In my experience the smartest people I have met have always been avid readers and many of them did not attend ivy league programs. Higher level education is about how much you put into it in my opinion. And there Logan and Jess are comparable. Logan is always doing life and death brigade stuff and doesn't come off as someone who values learning and knowledge that much. Then again Jess doesn't even attend classes. I don't think Jess is smart because Rory thinks he is. I think he's smart because of how he is characterized. He often talks deeply about literature and was shown to carry his own with Paris who comes from an ivy family and goes to a school like Chilton. There are also countless people who pay their way into ivy schools as we recently saw in the news and others who get in on legacy. Now obviously many who go there are brilliant and the best of the best but I don't think it automatically means we can assume that they are all the smartest people in the room. In the same way just because you are blue collar or come from a broken family doesn't mean you are automatically the stupidest person in the room either. It's possible to have an ivy league education and be well educated but not spectacular and it's possible to not have that level of education and still be brilliant. He was bored because he was not challenged and just skipped which actually made him fail. He said it himself what it takes others hours to learn he finishes in minutes. Rory could've been honest with logan that jess was her ex and reassured him that nothing is going on. I mean everytime she sees him talking to a girl she freaks and logan calms her down, during their grandparent's wedding, when honor came, at honor's bachelorette. You could see he felt bad when he said i wanted to surprise you ace. On top of that jess wouldn't even initiate conversation or even put attempt to be nice to logan, he started judging logan as soon as he saw the porsche. Logan really tried to initiate conversation, but uk how jess was responding. It makes sense why he was jealous, sure he did cross the line a little bit but it was kinda called for.

Every guy Rory dates they see Jess immediatly as competition. With reasons of course if you see who put her life back on track not once but twice. Matt has definitely aged the best out of all of them. he looks wonderful.. although he was a jerk in this scene.. he was obviously insecure.. The reason why i like Logan more than Jess is that: sure Jess is perfect now but we dont really watch him doing that change... and with logan we have a development through season 5 to 7 and yes he cheated his fiancee in AYILT and that was bad but also realistic bc Rory and Logan didnt have a closure. (I hope Rory doesnt do the same as Lorelai - her situation is complety different - and finally have a quiet good life with his baby and Logan bc they are endgame for me)

Logan's got many faults and was a jerk to Jess here but I can also completely understand why! Anyone would have! Rory met an ex-boyfriend behind his back while he was out of town and didn't tell Jess she had a boyfriend either so in his understanding they were going on a date since they didn't leave things on friendly terms but very much romantic ones. Also, she doesn't introduce Jess as an ex or tells Logan in the car since he obviously had to ask for it again at the pub. It's absolutely not alright to go on a date with exes, especially when those exes think you're single when you're not and you don't tell you're partner about them. Rory was shady and Jess thought it was a date. Loga was upset about Omaha and his father's force-fed life and would have really needed Rory as an ally that night. He told Rory he thought she should go back to Yale the whole time ("I give you one month", "not you, you love school, I've seen it") - it was due to her own timing that she didn't go earlier. - for starters she had so many hours of community service to complete in 6 months that she couldn't have possibly completed that part-time with Yale, also I kinda think she actually needed some time to grow from the throwback she received and the criticism (fair enough I think she could have learned much more from the very real criticism she got from mitchum). I personally think Jess was just the last kick Rory needed (while it's actually Logan who is the last to tell her he thought she should have gone back btw - he just left her to make her own choice and Rory has been routinely terrible in making hard choices...) And just for the record - just before she met Logan (which wasn't that long before) Jess came to Yale and wanted her to quit Yale to run of to NY with him (which would have been TERRIBLE) because he had just figured out he loved her - he was incredibly selfish, immature and also jealous as soon as he sees Dean. He was a jerk to Dean much more than Logan was to him and he can't take his own medicine. So I'm sorry, while I like Jess and think he's matured and has done good for Rory since - he's not right for her anymore! She didn't wanna do anything with him because she loved Logan - that should tell you all about her preference that you need to know. He grew up into more of a brotherly role which is something she needs and which he fits into better later anyways. And tbh, his idea with the book (not book writing in general, since I think Rory is much better suited for that) about her and her mom didn't turn out right I think - I always fel it was an easy way out and put a strain on her and Lorelei's relationship for a reason (I didn't like that Lorelei let herself be pressured into allowing it in the end in fear for their relationship). So...sry rant over..but I think if anyone is acting badly in this situation it's Rory. And Jess ain't any better than Logan in this

Ok yes while Logan was acting a bit immature and clearly jealous, I think he had a right to be. Rory did not tell him that she was meeting an ex, she did not reassure him at any point that she’s glad he’s now joining and she looked so uncomfortable and awkward with him there. Rory could've been honest with logan that jess was her ex and reassured him that nothing is going on. I mean everytime she sees him talking to a girl she freaks and logan calms her down, during their grandparent's wedding, when honor came, at honor's bachelorette. You could see he felt bad when he said i wanted to surprise you ace. On top of that jess wouldn't even initiate conversation or even put attempt to be nice to logan, he started judging logan as soon as he saw the porsche. Logan really tried to initiate conversation, but uk how jess was responding. It makes sense why he was jealous, sure he did cross the line a little bit but it was kinda called for.

In spite of that Rory did get jealous and logan was indeed very nice to her about it. Rory on the other hand didn't even put any effort to reassure him. I agree Logan was a jackass that day and should've handled it better but rory could've prevented the fiasco by just idk making sure logan knew he didn't have to feel threatened.

Logan's got many faults and was a jerk to Jess here but I can also completely understand why! Anyone would have!
Rory met an ex-boyfriend behind his back while he was out of town and didn't tell Jess she had a boyfriend either so in his understanding they were going on a date since they didn't leave things on friendly terms but very much romantic ones. Also, she doesn't introduce Jess as an ex or tells Logan in the car since he obviously had to ask for it again at the pub.
It's absolutely not alright to go on a date with exes, especially when those exes think you're single when you're not and you don't tell you're partner about them. Rory was shady and Jess thought it was a date.
Loga was upset about Omaha and his father's force-fed life and would have really needed Rory as an ally that night.
He told Rory he thought she should go back to Yale the whole time ("I give you one month", "not you, you love school, I've seen it") - it was due to her own timing that she didn't go earlier. - for starters she had so many hours of community service to complete in 6 months that she couldn't have possibly completed that part-time with Yale, also I kinda think she actually needed some time to grow from the throwback she received and the criticism (fair enough I think she could have learned much more from the very real criticism she got from mitchum).
I personally think Jess was just the last kick Rory needed (while it's actually Logan who is the last to tell her he thought she should have gone back btw - he just left her to make her own choice and Rory has been routinely terrible in making hard choices...)
And just for the record - just before she met Logan (which wasn't that long before) Jess came to Yale and wanted her to quit Yale to run of to NY with him (which would have been TERRIBLE) because he had just figured out he loved her - he was incredibly selfish, immature and also jealous as soon as he sees Dean. He was a jerk to Dean much more than Logan was to him and he can't take his own medicine.
So I'm sorry, while I like Jess and think he's matured and has done good for Rory since - he's not right for her anymore! She didn't wanna do anything with him because she loved Logan - that should tell you all about her preference that you need to know. He grew up into more of a brotherly role which is something she needs and which he fits into better later anyways.
And tbh, his idea with the book (not book writing in general, since I think Rory is much better suited for that) about her and her mom didn't turn out right I think - I always fel it was an easy way out and put a strain on her and Lorelei's relationship for a reason (I didn't like that Lorelei let herself be pressured into allowing it in the end in fear for their relationship).
So...sry rant over..but I think if anyone is acting badly in this situation it's Rory. And Jess ain't any better than Logan in this

Ok yes while Logan was acting a bit immature and clearly jealous, I think he had a right to be. Rory did not tell him that she was meeting an ex, she did not reassure him at any point that she’s glad he’s now joining and she looked so uncomfortable and awkward with him there. Logan, I’m betting could clearly sense the tension between the two (people always do) so I think he was also going off of that, not to mention being excited that you’re coming home a day early and thought to surprise your girl only to find her going out with a guy SHE DID NOT tell you about at all.
