I'm from India and here few people make this mohinga and atho soups. Their ancestors used to live in burma but after India got independence they came back to India. One of my favorite soups is mohinga ❤🙏🏼
My mom and dad too came back from Myanmar in 80s during coup. Dad misses Moinga soup a lot..! The way he explains this soup, it’s taste is simply amazing..! Wish we could get this lovely dish here too.. We stay in Pune.
Really nicely done. I have several people at my new job from Myanmar (Burmese speaking) and they really love Burmese, Indian, and Chinese food. I will do my best to try your recipe to make them have a pleasant lunch and have a smile at our next group potluck. Thank you so much!
I am a Burmese food lover currently in UAE. I miss mote hin gha a lot and your recipes save me. I am so glad that I found this easy recipe. Thanks. I tired this recipe and it is delicious.
Tried this recipe out yesterday and it turned out just like what I would get in Yangon or Mandalay. Couldn't find peanut flour for the thickener, but I was able to get chickpea flour instead. Thanks for sharing.
Great easy recipe and I can’t wait to try! My mother-in-law is from Mawlamyine and makes a clear broth Mon-style version. I enjoy Yangon/Mandalay style more so look forward to trying this one.
You are so sweet. Well-narrated recipe. I will try out cooking Mohinga in Malaysia. I am an Indian and have plans to cook and serve Mohinga to Mynmar citizens working and living in my area. Thank you for sharing this amazing recipe my dear.
I am really wanting to try this. I saw it prepared online and was so interested. Thought this is going to take so much research. The first video I clicked is yours. And I have to say it is very clear and easy to follow. I am really confident in making this dish. Years ago I did 80 dishes around the world. The house never had something twice and it was all cultures. I am not sure why we haven't done it since because we still talk about it.
My mom's best friend used to make mohinga for us using fresh fish her husband caught. She would add Bugles to them for the crunch factor. I've been craving it since we moved away!
It looks really tasty. I hope your channel will gain more subscribers soon. Please keep upload Myanmar cuisine so all of us can learn how to cook this cuisine.
Your way is a lot easier. My sister taught me a little different. Boil the fish with Nga pe and lemon grass. Then you made fish curry like you. Toast the rice and grind it and add all of those to the broth. I am gonna try your way then I don't have to boil the fish. Yum My mouth is watering watching you cook.
Hope you enjoy it Kalya! What your sister taught you is also a good method - it's our traditional Myanmar way of cooking. However, if you can simplify and make things easier ... it is so much more enjoyable to make Mohinga!
Porsche Mote Hin Gha . Generous in the amounts of fish in put. Peanuts is another level of creativity. For the garnish hard boiled eggs and lemon wedges could have served in demitasse or Sauce bowl. Otherwise, presentations / recipes and methods are top notch. I learned something new from this episode. Cheers .
Hello Saw Khin, "Porsche" Mohinga - best compliment ever! Thank you for taking time to provide feedback, I really appreciate it. By the way, I would love to know where are you tuning in from?
I had Mohinga at a Burmese restaurant and love it! I'm definitely going to try this recipe. I have lots of chickpea flour leftover that I bought to make falafels but only used it twice.
Hello. How long did you cook the fish in the pan for? Also, did you add the pearl onions after the hour of simmering or when it started simmering? I'm from Central California.
Hello, I have seen many recipes on the internet, yours seems to me the simplest and most real. is it possible to ask you for more precision concerning the quantities for a soup for three people? thank you very much from switzerland
Hello Tin Tin, yes - you can definitely add Pai Chaw to it ... and any toppings of your choice. I love banana trunk in my Mohinga but where I live in Florida, I cannot easily get that so, I miss out on that. Do you cook Mohinga at home? I hope you find this recipe super easy.
Thank you for making this video! I recently learned about mohinga and want to try it because I love lemongrass... it seemed overwhelming but this video makes it seem less complicated!

roseraja9039 - That is brilliant! Great improvisation on the boiled gram lentils! My mom used to use boiled small red lentils, which made the mohinga lighter and sweeter.
Hello Dark Winter - Yes, you can use other fish fillet but the taste will differ. I've used talipia before and the taste is lighter. Some use canned tuna. I've also tried it with cod and halibut before but it doesn't work as these fish were buttery.
Yes, you can definitely add "gnapi" (shrimp paste/fish paste), it definitely adds a more rich flavor and stronger aroma. If you live in the US and can't find gnapi, my dad used to add some anchovies to achieve that richness!
