I've got the treasures of Bruce Lee. Didn't know it was so expensive now! 😅. With regards to The Toa of JKD being plagiarized. I think people are totally missing the point. It was his personal research, he just put it all together & more importantly applied it in real life. It was his thought process and his evolution both physically and mentally. He lived and breathed it daily. Within 10 years living in the US look how much he accomplished. People just want to 💩 on his legacy for whatever reason. Maybe attention, who knows. Marcos Ocana has written bboks on Silent Flute, Dominican Republic and The Death of Bruce Lee, his research is amazing. You really need to get his books.

I just finished Wrath of the Dragon and it was a great book. I think what makes him such a force in martial arts is the time and effort he put into his craft. I mean he researched, practiced and lived it. I am trying to get my son to read it because I want him to know. if you want to be good at something, you have to put the time into it. Great Video by the way, you always have things I did not know.
Great video. I agree that Steve Kerridge and John Little are the best when it comes to Bruce Lee books, although I would put Matthew Polly's book in my top 3. I'm currently reading memories from the Dominican Republic by Marcos Ocana. Filled with rare photos and goes into detail, Bruce's vist to the Dominican with Jhoon Rhee. Well worth a read. I recently picked up a 2nd copy of Treasures of Bruce Lee from Vinted for just £8. Got it just so I could use the posters inside to put into frames. Great video as always Stripey. It’s really hard to say but these two books I really recommend for anyone who doesn’t have them. Definitely “Wrath of the Dragon” by John Little and The Death of Bruce Lee by Marcos Ocana Rizo (revised edition) both really done well.

Cool video mate I'm a massive Bruce book and magazine fan I've over 400 books from different countries the Japanese 70s ones are among my favourites my all time favourite one is Bruce Lee King of Kung Fu and the old KFM books from the 70s that's what grew up with Steve's books are a must have I have nearly all of his .keep making these cool vids mate

Nice rating. So far, Matthew Pollys book is my favourite biography but Steve Kerridge does a great job of detailing a certain time in Bruce's life very meticulously. Have you seen his new documentary that's coming out on ETD called Bamboo and Dragons? It has new behind the scenes footage shot by John Saxon!

Great idea for a video. Tough to choose 3, i have the 3 you mentioned. The treasures book is fantastic, especially for the memorabilia. Bruce Lee a life is a hell of a read. I always loved the John Little library, especially the more personal editions like Letters Of The Dragon. If i was to choose a top 3🤔🤔: 1. The Art of Expressing The Human Body 2. Great video Stripey! I Got Treasures but not yet read it… you’ve pushed it to next in the queue. My favourites are Polly’s biography, Mandarin Superstar / Intercepting Fist by Steve Kerridge and (controversial choice), The Death of Bruce Lee by Marcos Ocana Reza: includes all the original documentary evidence heard at the inquest plus makes reference to other evidence such as the drugs letters. It’s a fascinating read but also sad and upsetting in some respects.

I’m currently reading “The Death of Bruce Lee” by Marcos Ocana Rizo, it’s really good, get it now before it disappears. Glad you mentioned “Striking Thoughts” that’s a great little book. I really like “Bruce Lee Conversations” and of course the best biography on Bruce has to be “A Life” by Matthew Polly. That’s a brilliant book although he surely could have come up with a better name for the book and also I don’t think I agree with the ending now the Baker letters have surfaced!
@@StripeyR I think it’s only available from his Spanish website, make sure you get the revised 2nd edition which includes a chapter on the Baker letters. The book is in English/Spanish. Cost me about £50 in total including shipping to UK. 👍
Unsettled Matters was good. BTW back in the 80s thered be meetups where bruce Lee friends and family were invited. Is there still an appetite for that kind of thing ? I seem to see a resurgence of interest in Bruce Lee again in the UK .

However one that that I read a lot as a teenager was' Bruce Lee King of King fu ' by Felix Dennis, got a great cover and an easy read with some fantastic pictures of Bruce through his transformation to be truly the king of kung fu!

So many good books for Bruce Lee fans to choose from! But three that I'd recommend that maybe not everyone has heard of or had the chance to get would be these: Regards From The Dragon Seattle. This is a collection of letters from Bruce to his friend & student in Seattle, Taky Kimura, compiled & edited by David Tadman. It's loaded with photos, many rare, features Taky's commentary on most of the letters, a couple interviews with other people who knew Bruce in Seattle (including Bruce's judo instructor!), mostly it's Bruce sharing what was going on in his life from, say, 1962 through 1973, in his own words, any fan would love it! Another one maybe not everyone's heard of would be Striking Distance: Bruce Lee & The Dawn Of Martial Arts In America by Charles Russo. This is largely about how Bruce was perceived by traditional martial artists in the 1960s, in an unbiased way it tells the story of the infamous Wong Jack Man fight & what led up to it. What I appreciate most about this book is that the author quoted sources from all sides, probably more, actually, from people who didn't like Bruce at the time, so you're not just getting Bruce Lee Fan Club type stories, it's a fascinating read. I also love the comparatively little (& cheap) book, Bruce Lee: The Legend by the editors of Black Belt Magazine. It's basically a collection of the magazine articles about Bruce Lee that had been published in Black Belt magazine between 1967 & 1973, while Bruce was still alive, before Bruce Lee, the man, became Bruce Lee, the myth. It also includes a chapter or two of remembrances by friends, students, actors, & martial artists giving their stories & impressions of the Bruce Lee they knew (it's interesting to me how differently guys like Chuck Norris & Mike Stone talked about Bruce then than they have more recently, makes you think maybe their memories have gotten a bit foggy with age!). Anyway, fun topic, Stripey, I like all your choices, too, & you've given me a book to look for, that one about Jay Sebring, I've never seen that one before!

I'd have to say Bruce Lee conversations is one my faves. It has interviews from, his friends, students and other martial artists. Awesome read. ..... im sure Matthew Polly 's book has some good stuff. But I've seen a Matthew Polly interview and I just didn't agree with his perspective on somethings about Bruce. he made some weird comparisons that I thought didn't make any sense. Don't get me wrong I don't look at Bruce as an invincible God. I see him as a very dynamic & creative brilliant martial artist. But after that interview I don't care for Matthew Pollys opinion as much. I'd choose John Littles books any day over Pollys.
Surprised you didn't mention Bruce Lee: Fighting Spirit by Bruce Thomas as that would be one of the better known biographies of Bruce. It was actually the first biography of anyone I ever read, back when I was about 9-10 years old. I've gone back to it many times over the years and even lent it out to friends I enjoyed it so much.

Hello Sir. One question : there are many books by Ricky Baker that got me curious. A couple of them are about Fist of fury and another couple about Enter the dragon. Am I the only 1 who remembers their some times fantastically illustrated pages and Bruce Lee coverage? How I bloody wish I could borrow Dr who's TARDIS and go back for a visit, And here's one for all you trivia buffs. I first heard of Bruce Lee in the mid-'70s My older brother was a huge fan, and saw all the movies when they were released in the UK (he bought all the Kung Fu Monthly mags) etc. I would have been 8 or 9 years old. Then came the video era a few years later & I saw Enter the Dragon on tape & Bruce, blew my mind, His fighting skill, charisma, screen presence & the cool (finger pointing to the moon stuff) he came out with, I just loved it & from that day, I was hooked. There have been some amazing martial arts/action stars, since Bruce's sad death, but for me, nobody else has ever come close to Bruce Lee. Cheers Hector 👍

I'd have to say Bruce Lee conversations is one my faves. It has interviews from, his friends, students and other martial artists. Awesome read. .....
im sure Matthew Polly 's book has some good stuff. But I've seen a Matthew Polly interview and I just didn't agree with his perspective on somethings about Bruce. he made some weird comparisons that I thought didn't make any sense. Don't get me wrong I don't look at Bruce as an invincible God. I see him as a very dynamic & creative brilliant martial artist. But after that interview I don't care for Matthew Pollys opinion as much. I'd choose John Littles books any day over Pollys.
Surprised you didn't mention Bruce Lee: Fighting Spirit by Bruce Thomas as that would be one of the better known biographies of Bruce.
It was actually the first biography of anyone I ever read, back when I was about 9-10 years old. I've gone back to it many times over the years and even lent it out to friends I enjoyed it so much.

Hello Sir. One question : there are many books by Ricky Baker that got me curious. A couple of them are about Fist of fury and another couple about Enter the dragon. Some critics say they are useless and some say they are awesome. If you have already checked those books can you please tell me what you think about them ? You are the only one I trust !
The Jesse Glover book on Bruce is considered the Best by many.

Has t be Bruce Lee the man only I knew. Mathew Kelly's book and Alex Ben blocks. But wat about the marvel comic groups input in the 70s? Am I the only 1 who remembers their some times fantastically illustrated pages and Bruce Lee coverage? How I bloody wish I could borrow Dr who's TARDIS and go back for a visit, And here's one for all you trivia buffs. Micheal Jackson had arranged to meet Lee in the 70s but sadly of course Lee past away before it could happen honest I kid you bloody not. Anyway keep up your great coverage

there is very little to do with bruce thats cheap these days on amazon or ebay,he has never been more popular and that is reflected in the prices.

Great choice of books. The 1st and last would be two of my favourites. I own all 3. The mandarin superstar and fist of fury books are great. Have both too.A new one is out in November. Can't wait for that. Oh, Wrath of the dragon is gold. Just finished reading that. 😊🙏

My top three book picks from my blog post I did in June was 1) Bruce Lee: A Life by Matthew Polly 2) Bruce Lee: Mandarin Superstar by Steve Kerridge 3) Bruce Lee’s Fighting Methods: The Complete Edition by Bruce Lee & M. Uyehara. Really hard to narrow it down to free. I think I need a top 10. I recently posted a RUclips short of some of my book. Please check it out if you have time.

Thank you, my friend. I first heard of Bruce Lee in the mid-'70s My older brother was a huge fan, and saw all the movies when they were released in the UK (he bought all the Kung Fu Monthly mags) etc.
I would have been 8 or 9 years old.
Then came the video era a few years later & I saw Enter the Dragon on tape & Bruce, blew my mind, His fighting skill, charisma, screen presence & the cool (finger pointing to the moon stuff) he came out with, I just loved it & from that day, I was hooked.
There have been some amazing martial arts/action stars, since Bruce's sad death, but for me, nobody else has ever come close to Bruce Lee.

A lot of fans think Jesse glovers book Bruce lee between wing chun and gung fu is the best book on bruce Lee.
I remember the KFG Alex Richter discussing that book with John Little, it would be great if someone could reprint Jesse's books
