It is worth mentioning that the charging dock on the viper ultimate can also function as the dongle. If you put the receiver in the dock while it is plugged in, it basically does the exact same thing as the dongle, except for 4k polling rate.
Gets down to personal preference of course. I got the Viper Ultimate in white because it sits nice on the desk with the Logitech G915 TKL keyboard in white. Your review of both helped in that decision, thank you. I have no issues with the ultimate not charging on it's dock and as far the right side buttons go you can re-map them per app or game or deactivate them. Although I enjoy some fps gaming I'm not a big gamer so "upgrading" to the V2 is something I won't be doing. Cheers.
I get the Viper Ultimate b/c of the charging dock. This is because I'm such a sloth that I never ever want to touch my cables if I can help it. The motion of landing it on a dock is so much better than reach for your cable and finding the hole to plug it. So if there's no charging dock, or better way to charge the thing without dealing with the cable, I think there're better mouse alternative out there depending on one preferences.
Been using my new Viper Ultimate for 2 weeks. Chose it over the v2 pro because of the features and I don't mid the extra weight. I'm using a Model O Wireless before and the weight does not affect me that much. Also, you mentioned that the charging dock is fiddly but for me it isn't. It's actually really easy to place the mouse in the dock. Maybe because I've been using it everyday and got the touch of putting it in the dock. But, great review as always.
so its lighter with a sensor you wont really notice and you lose dock charging, grips and ambidextrous for where i live 2x the price i think ill just stick with the ultimate and buy multiples for same price so i have a backup.
If your competitive the lighter weight is crucial. The dock charging meant the housing underneath the mouse scratched soft control mousepads like artisan zero line. Overall this isn’t an upgrade.. it’s an alternative
