    I have some thoughts...
    - If you are over 75, don't go on a wait list.
    - Hublot, they're OK. If that's your jam, cool.
    - The Daytona and Speedy are two completely different watches. Absolutely pointless comparing them.
    - The Speedy is an all time design classic.
    - Who cares if A&P is a one trick pony?
    - I waited 12mths for a DateJust Green Palm. Had nothing to do with me being the "right" customer.
    - Rolex and Omega are the middle price point in the luxury market. Luxury is subjective just like everything else.
    - Modding is cool, if you have the balls for it.
    - Watch geeks make up 1% of the market, actually, probably far less. We are effectively irrelevant...get over it 😂

the entire having to schmooze the AD is one of the biggest turnoffs in the watch industry. I'm aware it's a must to get what you want, but spending thousands for a watch and then having to foster a relationship is so odd to me. Person A can get a watch if you do, but Person B won't is such a weird flex.

I'm kinda OK with it. I don't like it but I can accept it. I say hi to the manager in my AD, and he still doesn't know my name. But he is a manager in a retail store ... I earn 3x what he does. My life works without ever buying another Rolex, his whole life is based around selling the next watch. One day, I may get the call, and I can drop that money without a second thought. If he doesn't call, I'm also OK

    Hot takes:
    - Power reserve on the back of a watch is useless. Put them on the front to see them move while winding. Then check for power during the day! Never ending pleasure.
    - Tried on a gold sub. Took it off after 5 minutes. Gold submariners are too heavy to wear all day. I bet most take them off immediately when they get home.
    - 36mm is a perfect watch size. For generations of men 36mm was perfect. Our wrist sizes have not grown exponentially. Get over it and go for comfort.
    - my Casio died on me. There is no romance in a quartz watch. Just pure utility.
    - date windows are perfect…at 3:00
    - Rolex is high horology…for non watch people. Perception is reality. The vast majority of folks believe that Rolex is at the top of the horological food chain. Therefore they are.
    - strap Vs bracelets. Straps don’t need adjustment or links to remove or micro adjustments. They fit as is.
    - Gringa will hit 100k subscribers by year end. Because she is consistent, pure, and honest. Keep up the great work!

You could expand on this to say that the Speedmaster is an icon because it proved itself in the harshest conditions imaginable on the wrists of real men (astronauts) under life-threatening conditions. The Daytona is an “icon” because it was worn by dudes pretending to be those real men (actors like Paul Newman) and artificial rarity. There is nothing actually iconic about the Daytona. It’s a pretty watch. It’s a Rolex, so it’s a well made watch. But the Speedmaster is so head and shoulders above it in “iconic-ness” that there really is no comparison to be made. One of them proved itself as a tool, one is a piece of jewelry and always has been that and nothing more. The better comparison would be the Speedmaster and Zenith Chronomaster, which has legit iconic aspects because of the El Primero.

A.Lange produces amazing luxury pieces, however could a person who can afford to commission a unique, bespoke piece from a watchmaker look at an A.Lange as lower luxury? Personal opinion and taste comes in....one person's junk watch could be another person's grail. I think what the watch means or invokes in the person is what really counts.

It’s true for people who can’t get a Daytona and just keep denying the value of daytona so they feel better. I think if anything speedy has the equal history as daytona is an equal well made watch as daytona for a watch collector. But for a non collector daytona is a better watch because of its elegant design.

Re customisation. I had a mad thought whilst driving home today (like I often do!). Getting a Speedy and having my 2 kids birthstones put into the pushers. Pearl for my 1st (son) and citrine for the 2nd (daughter). I’d have the pearl in the start/stop pusher and citrine in the reset, because it started with him and ended with her! 2’s enough!
Naff, poor taste etc. but it’s my watch and personal to me. What a lovely reminder to look at my watch everyday and think of my kids.

When it comes to watches to are in the thousands I never pay over retail if it's a affordable watch I pay a little over retail if it's a cool fun watch another thing that the video talked about was closing on hublot is that if you never worn the brand had it on your wrist seen it person you shouldn't really clown on a watch brand half the people closing on a watch brand chances are they never worn owned the watch and are just going by what others are saying wait a see and buy the watch before you clown the watch brand that's my take on it. ALl watches that cost as much as a used cars are luxury watches thats my out look on watches and anything that you buy that you dont need is always a luxury so in some way all watches are a luxury good video as always

On your last point... I think it all comes down to love for brand vs love for watches. We love the romantic side, the story of brands like Blancpain and respect them for their history and finishing techniques. But man those things look outdated! Do I like the brand? Yes! Do I like their watches... not so much. The opposite is true with Tudor. We don't care about its history, with many simply stating that 'It's a sister company of Rolex'. But we still absolutely love the watches, especially in terms of what you get for the money.
Loved the video btw Britt! 🤘

Rolex history: failed NASA space test, didn't make it to Mount Everest summit 1st (Smith did), didn't come out on top on NEDU evaluation (Blancpain did), Mercedes Gleitze swam across English Channel the 1st without Rolex, but on her 2nd attempt Rolex was eager for publicity and tied a Rolex on her but she failed the 2nd attempt... I would want to forget these historical events if I were Rolex... But I do agree Rolex watches are well made. But Rolex Cellini and 1908 are priced wrongly in the range of 3 hands A Lange, so Cellini and 1908 will be the watches you don't want but you have to buy to get on the waitlist for Submariner or GMT2 or Daytona. Speaking of Daytona, the viewership of Daytona 24hours is less than 1M, while Le Mans 24hours has about ~10M.

Last point: PRX, Casio Duro, Christopher Ward, Formex, JLC Polaris, Seitona - everyone raves about them, rarely seen in anyone's collection (I own PRX & Seitona, used to have the Duro). Same is with cars - immense hype for Hyundai i30n, rally Yaris, etc. - and they still drive BMWs and Mercs. I also think that videos titled "Best Rolex Explorer substitutes" are pointless - if you want an Explorer, you embrace the fact that the process sucks - saving money, sucking up to AD, waiting. In the end any other watch that you bought will not bring you pleasure. Delay the gratification and enjoy it when the day comes. I prefer to have fewer things, but all up to my standards, so I cannot call myself a collector, I guess.

I have modified a few of my Seiko's because the QC is in the toilet and I think I made a good watch great, but it never occurred to me to mod more expensive/lux watches. Omega and Rolex are mid. Certainly if you compare them to some of the top tier watches out there, but for me, price also dictates what is considered luxury. I really enjoyed this segment and your takes were informative and fun.

The BP FF is an interesting one. In my humble the original of the species is a true blue classic of simplicity, legibility, purpose and innovation that made the original Rolex sub look like a lashup of an Explorer/Turn-O-Graph to get in on the new trend(which it was). However the current one by comparison looks like a Eurotrash leopard print budgie smuggler. Worse, it looks cheap, while trying to be 'luxury'. And it's not cheap...
On the other hand, the original Daytona looks good(though I can see why it didn't sell back in the day), but the current one is an update of sorts, but has been improved in so many ways. And looks more expensive and 'luxury' than the original.

Why do people not understand that the Royal Oak is really just a design concept? Saying that AP only has Royal Oaks is like criticizing Rolex for only having round cases. At least AP can do more than annual calendars and GMTs.
Let's change the names of these collections to the following: Royal Oak is the Sleek Collection; RO Offshore is the Sports Collection; RO Concept is now just the Concept Collection; and 11.59 can stay as 11.59. Is the criticism that AP is a one-trick pony still valid? Does the 3/4th argument still work? I seriously doubt it.
I hate AP sometimes and think that they've had a lot of missteps over the years, but this one-trick pony criticism is stupid when they produce watches with seriously impressive multi-complications.
