My favorite is that Elio and Selene's blank stares are canon. Also, May and Brendan don't even have shipping subtext anymore because the actual text is shippy enough.
Elio thinks too much and Selene (who a recent event seems to imply is the canon PC?) doesn’t have a single thought in that empty brain of hers and it’s hilarious. Definitely the brawn of her friend trio
A little more context on the Ball Guy event, Colress actually helped him cause all that chaos and I love him for that. Overall an unexpected but really fun event!
The thing i like about masters is that they expanded on the stories of side characters in the mainline games that doesnt get more screentime there. Eusine story in Masters is one of the best character development ive seen here with the story of him chasing suicune. We need more of this Mr Buddy!
It's been a personal fanfiction of mine of the ultimate Pokemon crossover. The Island of Pasio being the starting point that brings most of these protagonists together and their personalties based heavily on their Pokemon Adventures manga counterparts. I like to imagine White seeing Pasio as a opportunity to advertise her company and getting in touch with actirs, entertainers and other talent. All the while filming the events around her like a youtuber as a oersonal oroject if hers.
Honestly, I think Volo's view of Pokémon is more like "You can't know if you trust your Pokémon unless your life depends on it", rather than him treating his Pokémon as tools in fact. That's what it seemed to me from his words, at least. And considering that he comes from a time when humans and Pokémon literally lived in disharmony and fought against each other, it's the most "friendship" he can offer his Pokémon given the context of his experience. The proof of this is that when N meets Volo and his Togepi, he reads Togepi's heart and says that she feels happy to be very well taken care of by Volo
Ball Guy going full terrorist is NOT the story I thought I'd ever get but it's the story I needed. As for Volo and Cynthia, I can't outright argue with Volo's argument about becoming stronger through fighting for survival. Fighting for one's life will do that. But on the other hand, it's the bonds that form between brother-in-arms that truly push them to keep fighting and surviving. So there's merit to Cynthia's response. Anyway, as someone who had been playing for a while, I heavily recommend you look into the story stuff and continue showing it off! There are some really nice character deep-dives the game go es into.
I get so frustrated when people write off Pokemon Masters as some lame mobile game, they’re missing out on SO MUCH. Not just lore, but also cross-generational interactions between fan favorite characters, and new designs and costumes for different characters every month. The gacha isn’t even completely necessary, there’s a bunch of fairly strong characters you can get for free, and as long as you complete the first chapter of the story you have access to all the events. Seriously, this game is the reason I’m able to stay patient between news of the mainline games, it keeps me fed in the meantime.
From what I understand, backstories mentioned in Masters are canon, but the events in the game are not. Would be interested in you doing a sequel, maybe discuss some sync pair stories? For example, Cheren & Tornadus's seems to imply that there may be multiple of the legendary genies and that their true form (incarnate or therian) isn't static.
Great video Mr Buddy, i love all the lore and interactions in Pokemon Masters and i would love for you to do more videos about it. I honesty wish we got more interactions with Ash and other game characters including the game versions of his friends and and all the different protagonists, i'm still waiting for the SV protagonists to appear in masters.
Honestly a story explained of the entire two completed story arcs would be really cool. Especially the Villain Arc as it explores the potential of redeeming past villains and even continues off of the Rainbow Rocket Story
One of my favorite things in Masters lore is the many cool things they did with Zinnia. Her debut story has her meeting Rayquaza again and finally being deemed worthy of bonding with it. Her rivalry with Steven only grows when Steven gets his own _shiny_ Rayquaza, which unlike hers can Mega Evolve. Later, Matt and Courtney are manipulated by Team Rocket into making their leaders' Kyogre and Groudon fight each other again, and Zinnia gets to recreate the Rayquaza cutscene from Emerald to calm them down. The victory is short lived as a giant meteoroid is about to destroy everything... Again. Steven gets himself a space suit and pairs up with a Deoxys, but tells Zinnia that she should be the one to destroy the meteoroid. With a bit of motivation she's able to Mega Evolve her Rayquaza, finally fulfill her destiny and fly into space to save the world... Without a space suit because DeNA prioritized giving Steven another alt over logical writing, but she survives somehow. Much later it turns out that Zinnia became a Pokémon phantom thief named "The Phantom Imaginate" where she dresses up as Arsene Lupin and steals back stolen Pokémon by request, and she helps Steven (cosplaying Sherlock Holmes) stop some dude impersonating her.
I misread the title as "Pokèmon Masters Love You Don't You Know" and was Very Very Confuse. Torn between expecting a philosophical video essay and a very centrally themed VA reel here.
Here's some I know because I actually play Masters, and oh boy, there is a LOT! --- 1) Jessie and James (and Meowth) are from the "I Choose You" universe, specifically around Movie 23, as they're going after a Shiny Celebi. This is also backed up by James. After you foil their plans to steal the trainers' Pokemon by battling them 1v2 with just Pikachu, and winning. He says that this always happens when going after a Pikachu. --- 2) Ash Ketchum is in this game (he's not avaliable anymore, but I have him in-game still) what happened was he got sent to Pasio because he was so focused on training for the Masters Eight Tournament, that he didn't notice that he and his Journeys team got abducted by a Hoopa ring, I just find that logical, yet very funny. Another thing is that his Sirfetch'd (with possible help from Dracovish) is the first Pokemon owned by a Pokemon anime character to take out a box legendary in any capacity, given Sirfetch'd also fainted afterwards, but it's still noteworthy. Also the outcome of the battle of the player vs Ash is left unknown in a very clever way: Both sides have Pikachu as their last Pokemon, and it says that one Pikachu is unable to battle, but doesn't say who won, leaving it up to interpretation. I honestly feel like Ash was probably the victor, but it's probably never going to be confirmed sadly. --- 3) Selene gave Lillie a Cosmog that turned into a Lunala, also Lillie in Masters, has Clefairy, Ribombee, and Comfey for Fairy types, Sinistea and Lunala for Ghost Types. - Bonus) Counting Anime Lillie's Snowy (Alolan Vulpix, which I'm still confused as to why they didn't give to her game counterpart) and the Shiny Magearna from her father, Lillie has 4 Fairy Types, 2 Ghost Types, and an Ice Type, removing the anime ones gives her 3 Fairy Types and 2 Ghost types...almost half of her Pokemon in both cases aren't even Fairy Types, she's not a Fairy Type Speci- *Insert comedic cut off here.*
To those who have played Pokemon Masters, does anyone know if Ash has crossed paths with Red? I mean I know he's one of the special synced pairings. I'm just curious.
Don't let the "oh it's fine actually, it was just Colress setting him up for unfortunate situations" wrap up of that story fool you. Ball Guy is actually evil, I've been saying that since the release of SwSh.

Does this elevate Ball Guy to the best or the worst Pokemon character? I can't decide lol
Well, he isn't Cyrus 'I'm going full ominicidal maniac because the human spirit is cringe' but...
I'm getting Killdozer vibes from this version of Ball Guy, so definitely the best
