@@DustinGuidroz The biggest reason I think we might see Unova remakes or a sequel in 2025 is simply that there are already signs that they have been developing a big Unova project for several years now. It's simply too early for them to have been working on something that would be released after gen 10, assuming the likely 2026 release and expected DLC is accurate. Additionally, the Unova title is likely being developed in conjunction with ILCA; four years between major ILCA releases feels appropriate.

@triforceofcourage100 i dunno about a Legends game, it'd take place practically immediately before RBY as Mewtwo was only recently created i think it'd be more similar to Scarlet & Violet, with another small region you can visit based on Guyana where Team Rocket's scientists were investigating Mew
I like the idea of a Kanto sequel taking place 10 years in the future. They could introduce new Pokémon in Kanto and I like the idea of Mewthree and Team Rocket returning with an emphasis on scientific technology. I would like to see the theme of Gen 10 to be one of legacy.
If Gamefreak do this I would hope Johto would play a part in the Story or at least be DLC. One way that Johto could be a part of the story is that the Gym Challenge of both regions have merged making for a more expansive open world game making two regions essentially one and a sub plot could be is to uncover a shared history between Kanto and Johto.
Maybe by then the two regions or at least the two Leagues could have have combined into one and you could acquire any number of the eight badges in any order. Then in the post game would consist of you acquiring the other ones that you didn’t acquire. I think I might also put mini-quests like in the gyms from Paldea that could give new lore on the gym leaders and how they’ve been doing since we last met them in HGSS.
I think that for Gen 10 we could get it in late 2026, with the game’s region being a combo of Brazil and Guyana. That way, Mew could be the focus of the game’s story and get a new form (such as one related to the generational gimmick). They could also introduce 100 new Pokémon and 51 new regional variants as a callback to the original 151.
It would be cool to see more influence from the original anime run as well. That one kid with the waterproof sandshrew had his own rogue gym or the X and Y gang from that one town where Ash pretends to be “Tom-Ato.” That way it is truly a full circle for the original games as well as the show
If they do, it really needs to include Johto. Johto is like an extension of Kanto already, they’re the only linked regions so they should always be together going forwards.
While I like this idea a lot as a commemorative anniversary game (sort of like how Alola was a huge love letter to Kanto for the 20th anniversary), I think a prequel Legends game might be more realistic for Game Freak? I'm thinking maybe 30-ish years before the events of Red and Blue (so mid-late Showa era), where you could play as a young Oak or Agatha (or they're your rivals, and you play as a separate character) as you develop the first modern Kantonian Pokedex. This could focus on Mew lore (the Pokedex might be tied to this, similar to Project Mew in the anime) and the creation of Mewtwo, and maybe even the beginnings of Team Rocket as a street-level gang. Maybe ancestors of characters like Red and some Pokemon League members? Being set in the past, as we've seen with PLA, might lend itself better to the open world concept as while this is still an urbanized Japanese region, there could be plenty of rural and natural spaces like in Satoshi Tajiri's childhood
Honestly my prediction for a 30th anniversary game kinda coincides with what I feel like Gen 10 would be. I’m imagining another attempt at BW again, like all new region filled only with brand new Pokemon. It’d likely follow in the footsteps of SV’s gameplay and hopefully make improvements, but I wouldn’t mind a more classic styled game here. I do really like the idea of a Kanto sequel (that isn’t Gen 2) though! I’d always love to see new kanto Pokemon that still follow Gen 1 and 2’s general design tropes while still blending in some more modern Pokemon design ideas
My predictions is that the Gen 10 region will be based on Neatherland like the rumors say If we return to Kanto and Johto in a side game spinoff, I would love Pokemon like Ledian and Psyduck to get an evolution. I think Ledian could evolve into a Bug/Fighting Type and Psyduck could get a Water/Psychic Type
It’s funny how people’s minds can link up in some ways. I also thought of a potential sequel to Kanto not that long ago, though my take was very different. My idea takes place around the time of the HG/SS/Crystal postgame on the Pokémon Mega timeline (meaning X/Y has already transpired, lining up with OR/AS and the original Kanto games). This allows for some development of the Kanto region as well as being able to interact with a lot of fan favorite characters during the game. The game could be either open world or a bunch of large zones like in PL:A. Either way, Mt. Silver is the center of this map as you travel through Kanto, Johto, and Kitakami! Kitakami would basically be an imported map and works either as its own zone, or an unlockable area in the open world that you get around the time you unlock Johto, which is not post game this time around, but the second half of the main campaign. The post game would feature the ability to access the Sinjoh ruins, where you can battle Dawn, Lucas, and Cynthia depending on what side quests you beat, and Mirage Island, where you have a chance to catch Mew and have an event where you battle May. The Sevi Islands also would return in their full glory. Because of its timeline placement and the feature of Kitakami, both Megas and Terrastilazation will be in the game. Additionally, all Kanto and Johto adjacent forms (save GMaxes) and evolutions would be available get, with the evolutions not locked to post game this time around. You are another young protagonist who recently moved to the Kanto region, living in Pallet Town. You and your neighbor get a starter pokemon from Professor Oak and meet Ethan, who is currently going around challenging the Kanto gyms, and Kris, who is currently working on finishing her Pokédex. Ethan takes the role of an Arven/Nemona figure, battling you with his weaker pokemon (including the starter he gets from Professor Oak, which is weak to yours), and Kris provides more of the mentor aspect, teaching you how to catch PL:A style and helping you learn to handle ride Pokémon. Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Silver, Leaf, and a young Kukui will all be characters actively involved with the plot and you will get to do some team up missions and explore plot lines with them. Additionally, side quests for both NPCs and supporting cast members will return from Legends. The plot would revolve around Team Rocket trying one last time to take over, this time through more technology abuse, specifically targeting infinite energy and Terastilization. There are more connections tied to MewTwo, but ultra wormholes do become a side effect of there experimenting, hinting that this timeline may be where the UA/UM Giovani will eventually come from (or insight into how his timeline could’ve worked), despite Giovani still being MIA (save for a late game fight prior to a second run at the Elite Four), and they use these wormholes to bring a second MewTwo to experiment on, leading to a mirror match between Mega X Mewtwo and Mega Y Mewtwo (depending on which mega stone you steal earlier in the game). Both the Johto and Kanto are used by Rocket in their plot and there are PL:A boss fights versus them. I imagine a new Ho-oh and Lugia form would be introduced, with a possible MewThree or another upgrade given to MewTwo. When you eventually get the Mt. Silver, Ethan and Red have already fought during the middle of the story, after you beat the Kanto League. Now, you get to face the strongest version of Red yet, who has a Partner Pikachu with a light ball, and levels that rival Cynthia’s BD/SP rematch team. After this, you, Ethan, and Red watch as Celebi and Mew fly into the sky as credits roll. Ultra Wormholes open up in the post game to grab Ultra Beasts, Paradox Pokémon, Hisuian/Old Kalosian forms, and other Pokémon that are not naturally in Kanto/Johto/Kitakami. You also have a chance to fight N after he leaves at the end of B/W, who acts like a similar fight to Volo with Reshiram or Zekrom acting as a 7th pokemon, depending on which game you buy. The Pokédex has all the pokemon from gens 1-4+Hisui (and all their adjacent forms/evolutions) as well as Kitakami’s dex and the extra Pokémon I mentioned earlier. There could also be some new Kantonian/Johtoian forms of pokemon not native to their regions too. The Kanto Gyms, while having held items on some mon’s and the physical/special split, aren’t that different from their standard Kanto teams. Johto’s gyms raise the difficulty not so much in levels, but in having competitive teams built around weather, terrains, and other more advance options, making overleveling less of an issue. Rematch teams all have either a mega or terrastilazation available too for Kanto and Johto. There are a lot of other ideas I had, such as meeting Steven Stone and Raihan at some point, but I think this conveys the general idea. The game is a celebration of Pokémon, trying to give love to all the generations while still being a traditional pokemon game. It may be a larger love letter to the tightly knit together stories of gens 1-4, but I think it mostly gives love to all generations (except Galar, which I was stumped for ideas on).
This would be an interesting idea but if we do get Gen 1 sequal I don’t think Red would be the champion as of GSQ He is bested atop Mount Silver but Ethan so technically Ethan would be the Champion.
Here’s my pitch: Professor Oak is still in charge, but the starters he gives you aren’t Bulbasaur, Charmander, nor Squirtle because in Red and Blue, he said that those Pokémon were the only 3 he had left. Maybe Bulbasaur is still an option because neither Red nor Blue picked Bulbasaur. For the other 2, I think they will be starters not from Kanto nor Johto. Here’s my idea for the other 2: Torchic and Froakie Of course, Venasaur would stay the same. But Blaziken and Greninja, they would change. Introducing: Kantonian Blaziken and Kantonian Greninja! Kantonian Blaziken would be Fire/Dark and Kantonian Greninja would be Water/Electric. Your rival is now Lillie. The same would happen for the first 3 gyms, but Erika has retired. This has left a spot for a new gym leader whose specialty is Fairy. Yep, that’s right. It’s Mina from the Alola games and the Let’s Go games. Now, with the absence of Blaine, a new gym leader has approached into Lavender Town. The specialty is Dark, and of course it’s Silver. Agatha is now dead and Lance has retired from Pokémon, as well as Sabrina. So, we got a Fighting type gym in Saffron City and 2 new elite four members. Bruno is also the Saffron Gym leader so we got a Grass elite four member and it’s Erika’s child. The filler for Agatha is Clair and the filler for Lance is a flying elite four member. Yeah this is Pokémon Legends Purple. Get it? Because red and blue mix to make purple
Red going from Superboss to final boss would be a major downgrade Also since Misty was considered for the Elite 4 in the Gen 2 Space world demo I think doing that would make more sense than keeping her a gym leader
i know the cool kids nowadays love to trash on all things gen 1, but tbh i would adore another return to kanto if it were done like *this.* refresh the decades-old map layouts, sprinkle in some of the local flavor that kalos and alola did so well, and give it a watercolor graphical style as a nod to the original key art just uhh, maybe something more functional than our current open-world offerings...
While I dig most of this I think if I were to change one thing I would make it so that Rocket seems like the villains only to be revealed that the now fractured and nearly defunct organization is just a front for Silyph Co similar to how Team Snagem and Cipher were back in Colosseum.
Pokémon Rosewood and Shamrock - it happens 15 years after RGB, so it's right after the events of Sun & Moon. 7 of the Gym Leaders are Brock, Erika, Janine (Bug - Safari Zone), Bruno (Dojo) Agatha, Lorelei (Seafoam) and Blue. The 8th Gym Leader is Candela (GO) who has a Fire Gym in Vermilion City (gives you access to Moltres at Sevii). The Elite 4 are Koga, Misty, Surge and Sabrina with Red as Kanto Champion (Lance is the Johto Division one). 3 members of the once Elite 4 and the former Champion Blue are acting as GLs to inspect Kanto and make it safer. Lillie is your rival while Daisy would be the Pallet Professor. Silver, Leaf, Trace and Elaine also play pivotal roles.
Personally, one of the ideas I had in mind for Pokemon's 30th anniversary, is to take some music videos from different artists and "Pokefie/Pokefy" the human artists in favor of Pokemon that would fit the artist's personalities and singing talents included in the music video, even if the music video is 30+ years old.
It wouldn't be surprising if Game Freak did something for Kanto's 151 for the 30th anniversary. Your idea for a game set in Kanto 10+ years after the events of the original Gen 1 games sounds interesting if done correctly. Although, I'd be tired of Kanto receiving so much attention and investment, even if they were the beginning of the franchise. I could also see them doing something for Johto, Unova, or just going into Gen 10 for the 30th anniversary. I like the idea of running into Lillie & Lusamine. It would be neat to learn if the Aether Foundation was involved in the construction of the original Safari Zone or your proposed Cinnabar Island nature preserve. Unless they're new facilities, I'm not sure if anything from the Cinnabar Mansion & labs would've survived since we never saw their structures in the Gen 2 or Gen 2 remake games. That said, they could have the labs tie into Lillie trying to cure Lusamine. For the Elite Four and Champion, unless Johto didn't get their own separate Pokémon League since the events of G/S/C & HG/SS, I'd rather not have gym leaders like Clair in the roster. I do like, even if it's idealistic, the idea of having access to the regional variants, evolved forms, and pre-evolved forms of Kanto Pokémon available(Elekid, Magmortar, the evolved forms of Eevee that weren't in the Kanto Dex, Alolan Muk, Mr. Rime, Hisuian Electrode, etc.). I'd also like it if the moves and items introduced in the latest generations were accessible. If any new Megas get introduced in Legends Z-A, I'd want Mega Evolution accessible like how it was in the Let's Go games, except your proposed game would actually have abilities and held items present.
I say... It is the perfect chance for me to play as Red from the Pokémon Adventures manga! So bring it on! Venusaur Poliwrath Pikachu Gyarados Snorlax Aerodactyl So it is time to go to Kanto and fully explore the locations of the first game and really test the possibilities of more mature and veteran trainers!
I like the idea of an open world Kanto AND Johto area in one game, so you can travel between the two. In a way basically making a Crystal "remake" but with your idea of it being set in the future.
If I had to throw a guess out there, I think it'd be something smaller in scale. Instead of creating a whole new game or doing a future Kanto as suggested in the video, I think they may bring back something like the Poke-Walker. It'd be fairly simple to do and could even be improved upon, such as not having it linked to only one game like HG/SS in the past.
i had a similar idea to this for a while actually! the main unique thing my concept had compared to yours was the introduction of Green as the new professor as oak.... retired? semi-retired? he doesn't run the lab anymore is what i'm saying.
Although Generation 10 will most likely happen for the franchise's 30th anniversary of Pokemon. I wouldn't mind them crossing over with another well known JRPG, it's unlikely to happen, but that's what fan fiction is for.
You mean actually expanding upon Kanto's characters, areas and lore instead of just reusing the same goddamn story over and over again. Well YES PLEASE.
If generation 10 isn’t in 2025 then it will be in 2026 for the 30th anniversary. And probably the release of generation 1, generation 2, and generation 3 in the switch virtual console or the next Nintendo console on the switch or on the next Nintendo console in 2026 just like in 2016, 2017, and 2018 with generation 1 red, blue, and yellow and generation 2 gold, silver, and crystal on the virtual console of the 3ds. If we get anything related to gen 1 and gen 2 then it would be on the virtual console of the switch or the next Nintendo console. That is whether or not Pokémon legends z-a is either early or late of 2025 next year. And if this year is a break year and we get no reveal and release of a Pokémon game either then maybe the tcg pocket game for 2024 that is if that tcg pocket moblie game is released this year. It makes too much sense with gen 10 to be released during the 30th anniversary in 2026 just like in 2026 with gen 7 and gen 4 in 2006 at the 10th anniversary. 10 generations in 30 years in 2026. That’s what I believe of the 30th anniversary in 2026 of Pokémon. I don’t think there will be a sequel for gen 1 or gen 2 in 2026. As for any spin off game besides the tcg pocket mobile game that we know of between now in 2024 and 2026, I don’t know at this point and time. Of course there’ll probably be some spinoff games between 2024 to 2026. Figuring out the 30th anniversary game of Pokémon isn’t rocket science and it isn’t that hard either. I also believe that we might get a remake of generation 5 if there is one either during generation 10 or generation 11.
Good idea because every new gen comes out every 3 years which will be 2025 alongside Pokémon za. Kinda like arceus was at the start of 2022 and s/v was at the end of 2022
You know, I wouldn't mind an actual sequelfor the Kanto games if hanlded well. We already have adult Red and Blue, would be enat to see them in their home. And maybe we'd finally get the Professor Oak fight. Bonus if Johto and the Sevii Islands are included.
If gtm lesders dont move, that would mean misty, brock and surge are all late gyms, and maybe the fighting one is one of the first one? Would that mean that your dont start in pallet town? Is pallet town an endgame location?
"Sixth return to the Kanto Region"? Wouldn't it be the fifth? 1. Gold/Silver, 2. FireRed/LeafGreen, 3. HeartGold/SoulSilver, 4. Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee, 5. this one? Cool idea though! I'de love another Kanto game.
Hello this is cuteturtle2 from the buddyverse wiki. May I make the stats for the father beast and the abilities and typings for buddyized magmar and musharna?
As much as I’d love for this to be the case, there’s a likely chance GameFreak will do little more than just announce Generation 10 to mark the 30th Anniversary, do a special event for Masters EX and then there’s Legends ZA.
Considering it's the 30th anniversary I would be very surprise if they let go the chance to do something like a Pokemon Red and White both colors representing two of the most iconic pokemon colors (and games) of the franchise, the games that started everything mixed with the last games of the 2D era there is also the fact that Gen 5 was oddly skipped in the remake pipeline, I think it would be perfectly fitting to have here not only a sequel to FRLG/HGSS but also to BW/B2W2 maybe have both Team Rocket and Team Plasma returning as a new team, something like Team Plasma Rocket depending on how far in the timeline this game is set it could even have a surprise with the identity of the parents of our protagonist, just imagine the double plotwist, you face the Champion Red but it turns out he is the father of our protagonist and after defeat him is revelead the mother is the true final boss of the game, the former champion of the region Unova, Hilda, it could also introduce some kantonian variants of newer pokemon, from Unova, Galar, Kalos, Paldea and Alola

Here’s my idea for the other 2: Torchic and Froakie
Of course, Venasaur would stay the same.
Red going from Superboss to final boss would be a major downgrade
Also since Misty was considered for the Elite 4 in the Gen 2 Space world demo I think doing that would make more sense than keeping her a gym leader
i know the cool kids nowadays love to trash on all things gen 1, but tbh i would adore another return to kanto if it were done like *this.* refresh the decades-old map layouts, sprinkle in some of the local flavor that kalos and alola did so well, and give it a watercolor graphical style as a nod to the original key art
just uhh, maybe something more functional than our current open-world offerings...
Silver, Leaf, Trace and Elaine also play pivotal roles.
tbh... if it happens 15 years after RGB, Agatha is most likely retired or dead.
I think it would be cool to see the safari zone be developed on, it could include pokemon from all regions
That would be a neat way to bring in Pokemon from every generation
I love this idea and have brainstormed similar concepts before, but I'm certain their 30th Anniversary game will be Gen 10
“An open world Kanto game”
Me: … so Kanto?
If this doesn’t happen I will be very disappointed and it’ll ruin my year
Maybe we can put Meltan and Melmetal in there too?
As long as I can evolve my Golbat and Primate, I'll be happy.
Make the whole game double battles and Red and Blue are co-champions who learned to work together
So Pokemon Red 2 or maybe Pokemon Fire Red 2?
Never wanted something to not be real in my life
KanTwo, if you will.
fatherless pfp
The Kanto games are already (almost) as open world as SV.
Venusaur
Poliwrath
Pikachu
Gyarados
Snorlax
Aerodactyl
So it is time to go to Kanto and fully explore the locations of the first game and really test the possibilities of more mature and veteran trainers!
Nice to see you again, dude. Buddy.
I would play this.
what could they call this though, I think they have desided on keeping the legends title to games set in the past.
Blue would lead the Viridian Gym
I think that Professor Oak would probably be retired by then, so maybe Daisy, Blue’s sister, would take over for her grandpa.
I like the idea of an open world Kanto AND Johto area in one game, so you can travel between the two.
In a way basically making a Crystal "remake" but with your idea of it being set in the future.
You should play Pokémon Crystal Clear
If I had to throw a guess out there, I think it'd be something smaller in scale. Instead of creating a whole new game or doing a future Kanto as suggested in the video, I think they may bring back something like the Poke-Walker. It'd be fairly simple to do and could even be improved upon, such as not having it linked to only one game like HG/SS in the past.
i had a similar idea to this for a while actually! the main unique thing my concept had compared to yours was the introduction of Green as the new professor as oak.... retired? semi-retired? he doesn't run the lab anymore is what i'm saying.
Isn’t gold and silver a “Kanto sequel”
Although Generation 10 will most likely happen for the franchise's 30th anniversary
of Pokemon. I wouldn't mind them crossing over with another well known JRPG, it's
unlikely to happen, but that's what fan fiction is for.
Whiteboard start made me think you were gonna use a whiteboard for the video visuals.
So you kill off Mr Fuji but Agatha is still alive?
Also, Prof Oak?
Honestly if we would get Porygon 3 from something like this I would be alright with it
You mean actually expanding upon Kanto's characters, areas and lore instead of just reusing the same goddamn story over and over again. Well YES PLEASE.
if were going with team rocket may i suggest new clone Pokémon?
OMG, Mr. Buddy is cooking again and it's 🔥
I'd love to see them revisit Raimbow Rocket from Ultra Sun and Moon.
That be nice with the kanto open world. They should add orange island too
If generation 10 isn’t in 2025 then it will be in 2026 for the 30th anniversary.
Kinda like arceus was at the start of 2022 and s/v was at the end of 2022
This game sounds to good to be something Gamefreak would make
You know, I wouldn't mind an actual sequelfor the Kanto games if hanlded well.
I am on my hands and knees begging that we just get a sequel to Johto rather than going back for Kanto for what feels like the 100th time.
Wouldn't Ethan be the champion?
I’m pretty sure they are taking the time now to work their asses off for 2025-6
It is a bit too crazy, but on the other hand, these are some good ideas/predictions anyway. 🤔❤
Hello this is cuteturtle2 from the buddyverse wiki. May I make the stats for the father beast and the abilities and typings for buddyized magmar and musharna?
I hope they reprint the original cards again
New Japanese region you can go to Johto and Kanto
Maybe a crossover with Digimon
Does anyone have a link to the art used for the thumbnail?
What if johto and kanto became one region
Dammit you had the same idea i did
What am i supposed to do with the google docs script now 😔
I beat Pokemon Blue with a lvl 100 Blastoise and the legendaries
It sounds bored if it only has gym and the anime it has gym and contest and new town and have you rebuilt kanto
Are you forgetting about Gen 10?
Is it con toe or can toe ?
I'm okay with that but add Johto
As much as I’d love for this to be the case, there’s a likely chance GameFreak will do little more than just announce Generation 10 to mark the 30th Anniversary, do a special event for Masters EX and then there’s Legends ZA.
so they're actually going to try again for the first time since juimping on the switch
A Kanto sequel... honestly I would love that, it wouldn´t be the same Kanto we´ve seen time and time again
It’ll be garbage knowing gamefreak
Considering it's the 30th anniversary I would be very surprise if they let go the chance to do something like a Pokemon Red and White
both colors representing two of the most iconic pokemon colors (and games) of the franchise, the games that started everything mixed with the last games of the 2D era
there is also the fact that Gen 5 was oddly skipped in the remake pipeline, I think it would be perfectly fitting to have here not only a sequel to FRLG/HGSS but also to BW/B2W2
maybe have both Team Rocket and Team Plasma returning as a new team, something like Team Plasma Rocket
depending on how far in the timeline this game is set it could even have a surprise with the identity of the parents of our protagonist, just imagine the double plotwist, you face the Champion Red but it turns out he is the father of our protagonist and after defeat him is revelead the mother is the true final boss of the game, the former champion of the region Unova, Hilda,
it could also introduce some kantonian variants of newer pokemon, from Unova, Galar, Kalos, Paldea and Alola
I'm gonna be that guy and say first FIRST
My guess it will either be gen 10 or maybe a reboot of Kanto, making it open world with new Pokemon added to the dex.
You pronounce Kanto wrong. Stop
