1:19 Anakin was *100%* *Right* here. The reason that the Jedi got wiped out was because they had become stagnant. And in Legends when Luke became Grand master, he corrected this error in judgement. He allowed Jedi to carry blasters, form attachments and even encouraged finding new applications for the force that he had never thought of. This is why Legends Luke is the *GOAT*
Like father like son, I suppose
nah that's wrong, Yoda was right about weaponry. The Jedi council was set back because they failed themselves by allowing Anakin to join so late. Had nothing to do with becoming stagnant, literally the opposite. They should have stuck to their old ways that kept the sith in hiding like cowards.
Legends is so much better than cannon now
@@williamdewitt3769 Oh yeah. Big time.
Ezra and Cal used Blasters as well. They were FAR greater Jedi then the Jedi of the Republic. The Jedi were obsessed with trying to be on the moral high ground, hench why their downfall was so swift. Honestly, it was embarrassing
That is why the Sith have the correct view (but wrongful execution). "Peace is a lie." is the first line of the Sith Code. Peace creates stagnation, and in evolution stagnation means another species will overtake you. And you will be destroyed. Peace is a lie.

“Very few can safely wield, and skillfully wield a lightsaber” don’t tell rey or Finn tho 😂
Laser sword…
This is mere weeks after Vader's transformation into a cyborg and shortly after making his first Jedi kill after the downfall of the Jedi Order. Vader is nascent, new, a neophyte in the Dark Side, still getting used to his cybernetically-augmented crippled body, and using a lightsaber not yet suited for him in spite of making its kyber crystal bleed.
He's had very little training or instruction from his master in the ways of the Sith and in the Dark Side of the Force.
So of course he resorts to his old jedi training in their first sparring session. This, along with all the aforementioned facts, made it child's play for Sidious to disarm and humiliate Vader.
Vader was barely able to kill Jedi Master Kirak Infil'a in order to take his lightsaber from him, and he did with messy and enraged violence that caused much destruction around him, instead of it being surgical, precise, and decisive, as some Sith would surely be able to do, a perfect example of Vader's raw power in the Dark Side and how it needed refining
Vader did indeed refine his power and skills in the Dark Side and with his lightsaber, to the point where he was more machine than man, making his movements robotic yet precise and undeniably powerful. Especially in how he fought and killed Jedi in the years that followed.
This comic wasn't just about Vader's sparring sessions with both of his masters but the contradicting philosophies and natures between them.
Obi-wan sought to instruct and nurture Anakin into a worthy Jedi Knight
Sidious intended to break and reforge Vader into a terrifying Lord of the Sith
I think its pretty safe to say Sidious was successful in his mission.
Very well said.
@@Firenbrimstone
Oh yeah, most definitely
I think people forget that Sidious was actually a master lightsaber duelist so it makes perfect sense that he would easily defeat a still recovering Vader with a saber.
they could have shown this in the 3rd movie, but they cut 90% of his saber fighting out.
It’s the single largest flaw in the writing of him, to make him a master of all forms. It’s just so stupid and lazy writing.
@@brandonwatkins1206 also making him the most powerful Sith ever. Yah sure, Bane would need 5 seconds to beat him in a saber duel, Reven was far stronger with the force as were several others. Lightsaber dueling is a complete joke in later era's.

Last time Vader used the force against sidious he was wanted he’d kill him if he used the force against him again … so what was sidious expecting Vader to use if not his lightsaber ?
What?
@@dterm8526basically vader hit palpatine with the force in his rage when he just got in the suit and palpatine told him he would finish what kenobi could not if vader touches him with the force so he basically is not allowed to use the force in his sparring match
The answer is - there are many aspects of the dark side that can augment the user - like using his rage to up his strength or speed - sure one can use force lightning but it doesnt mean thats all he has at his disposal - sidious wanted him to use more than the blade itself. and he could still do both - fight sidious using the darkside but not directly.
@@B3an01 thank you
I’m sure Sidious would allow Vader to try and touch him with the Force during a sparring match, especially since Vader would never succeed in doing so. Sidious is so far beyond Vader in both the Force and lightsaber skill that Vader could never land a hit on the Emperor in a fight, whether with the lightsaber or the Force.
Palpatine ordered Vader not to touch him with the Force or be instantly killed for his arrogance, but fighting is the exception. Sidious would not bother training Vader at all if he was going to restrict him from ever using the Force in their sparring matches.
Fun fact: when Palpatine and Vader sparred again later in the Hidden Empire comics, when Vader was stronger, they were evenly matched.
was it just a sabre duel or was there force moves involved? cause i feel like one little quick shock of force lightning would floor vader in his sub par suit.
@@ninjaflashboy just sabers. But Vader can block lightning with his saber you know, and he’s tanked lightning before. He only died in ROTJ because he let go of his hate.
@@Jordanthomas95 He can't block the lightning he's tried before and it just went past it lol, and no, he really can't tank it, his suit is designed so he literally cannot
@@sashaleigh6655 he was extremely conflicted/weakened when that happened. Palpatine even said so
@@Jordanthomas95 There's been multiple times, right after he got out the suit, and around his prime, with minimal confliction in Star wars (2020) #6, and no diff at that, he can't block it at all, he never has succesfully blocked it without damage for more than a couple seconds
And also, Palpatine told Vader never to touch him with the Force, on pain of death. Kind of a big handicap when one side is sparring, and the other is risking his life by going all out.

Sidious is so far beyond Vader in both the Force and lightsaber skill that Vader could never land a hit on the Emperor in a fight, whether with the lightsaber or the Force.
@@TheGreater-ScopeVillain -Meh. Vader touched him with the force once. And palps made his suit vulnerable to lightning for a reason. And eventually, when he didn’t care if he died, Vader managed to pick up Palps and toss him down a shaft. Canonically, Vader was 80% of Palps’ power (if you believe midichlorians are a thing), so he was close enough that Palps had to take precautions.
The cabinet you throw at your enemy With the force is not the force... it's just a cabinet you use the force on.
yeah it was probs part of the fact that if vader really wanted to he could have killed sidius with the force. i mean if not crippled to like 1/3rd of his true potential. not to mention his suit was designed so that he could never ideally wield force lightning the bread and butter of the dark side. Sidius never wanted an equal in vader just a good 2nd in command who could never truly challenge him so theres a lot he threw in to the suit and how he treated vader after his extra crispy dip in the lava to turn him into basically a servant.
and not touching him directly if it was a teaching moment was to teach vader to reach out with the dark side and use his environment throwing anything and everything towards his enemy in pure rage. - Just a guess ideally probs not what sidius meant. much easier to send a coin or sharp object at an opponent when they are preoccupied fighting you with a sabre.
It has to be said that the emperor probably feared Vader. I'm sure I read somewhere, that Sidious always made sure that the suit was flawed. To always be a burden to him.
you are correct the suit was flawed dramatically so. it was even extremely weak towards things like force lightning giving the emperor a permanent advantage on vader.. but vader did have an option later down the line to upgrade to an even more advanced suit would have made him unstoppable like a beast. but he was to scared as it would have required basically taking out all of his current life support and to be suspended in a bacta tank while it was being done. so he feared the suit and also that if it was taken away and his pain and discomfort and anger caused by his current suit he also feared he would lose his anger and power in the dark side.
basically vaders fall to the dark side made him incredibly weak and fear and anger controlled him for pretty much all of his life after mustafar. like don't get me wrong he was stil a badass beast in his own right but far from what he was destined to be.
Treachery was the way of the Sith.
Plagueis stupidly trusted Palpatine/Sidious.
Darth Sidious learned from his Master's mistake.
In fact. SIdious didn't sleep, ever, apparently due to the way he murdered Darth Plagueis.
Keep in mind that palptine knows that Vader is the chosen one and it’s his destiny to defeat the emperor . Besides Vader , palptine feared death 💀.
@@ninjaflashboyWeak? Lords of the sith states that his connection to the force is stronger than ever with the pain and hatred in him.
The expanded lore cannon books point out the flaws and inconsistencies in Vader's suit. As Sidious killed his own mentor and also abandoned Darth Maul when he stopped being useful. Pain and hate and anguish make a stronger Sith but at what cost. Do you think the rule of two siths worked for or against the Sith?
Now you know why Vader said I must obey my master. Sidious would kick his butt if he didn’t 😅
This fight was couple weeks after Analin vs Obi Wan on Mustafar, later Vader became strong sith and fought again and their fight resulted in drawl🤡. After that Vader easily killed Palpatine in the dark dimensiom using his force lightning which was red in color and red lightning is something only god of dark side "the Son" used
This is why I laugh at people saying Vader was capable of defeating Palpatine at any point.
Any version of Palpatine stomps any version of Anakin/Vader (and I'm not counting imaginary "full potential" versions). Sidious is OP.
For sure.
Which isn't a point against Vader. Palpatine is just stupid OP. Unless you're EU Luke, of course.
Mortis Anakin?
@@J10005 Anakin on Morris was just regular Anakin, using the power of Mortis. If the fight happened there, Sidious would boosted too.
The result is the same.
I couldn’t agree more. Palpatine/Sidious is a being who cannot be defeated in a fight, nor can he be outsmarted in any battle of wits. It was only a very small, simple thing that eventually defeated him. But power-wise the Emperor is unmatched.
This is excellent lesson. Sidious taught him perfectly. Lightsaber is a symbol. Vader used sequences taught him by the Jedi,by Obi-Wan. This was young, very unexperienced Vader. Great lesson from Sidious. May the Force be with you too
I wish we had gotten to see Sidious sparring against Dooku!
I mean, that is one take on it. But maybe try not forgetting that Anakin always paid far more attention to his saber skills, than to his force abilities.
Such a powerful Holocron today, makes me wonder now about the kyber blaster. A Sith Lord assassin with a force powered sniper rifle oh my
I am not thrilled with how they’ve drawn Siddious.
He's supposed to look creepy
@@BookishEmperor - But he looks creepy in a particular way. And the comic doesn’t show that way.
@@goatkiller666I agree. Save for a few angles here and there, I don't like how he's drawn in any of these comics
@@an-animal-lover -Yeah, they get the ‘ugly’ part right, but her ugly in a particular way in the films that isn’t represented in the comics.
I see and understand both sides of the topic. But if I had to choose which was in the right, I'd have to go with Palpatine on this one. Palpatine is saying that the force is one's greatest weapon. With the force, there is almost unlimited (no pun intended) possibilities on what you can do with them. Heck, you can bend the elements if you could. Again, while Palpatine is indeed an amazing lightsaber duelist in his own right, he HATES dueling and lightsabers in general. He believed that the Sith were beyond such weapons. The only reasons he ever use them was to mock the Jedi. Beat them at their own game. The other reason was the have fun with it every once in a while too. But one can do far more damage with the force than a lightsaber ever could and its kind of hard to argue with that logic. In a way, this is kind of similar to Maul. Like Anakin, Maul barely used the force in lightsaber combat. Once he came back, Maul started to use the force more into his combat style. Ironically enough, Maul as a user of form 6 should had been doing that from the start.
I think it’s pretty cool seeing Vader spar with Sidious! It’s something we’ve never seen before and it’s also something I’ve always wanted.
Awesome explanation by Kenobi. I wish we had more examples of his wreckless youth that turned into the sage we know.
Gotta say I like these sorts of moments. Simple deep dives into purpose and intention. “Sure we could make better weapons with Kyber Crystals, but they wouldn’t serve our purpose as protectors.”
The Sith did perfect the Lightsaber. Otherwise Obi-Wan would still have a battery pack on his belt.
The Jedi's views on the lightsaber being a symbol of their role as protectors while noble is also naive. Only a tiny TINY fraction of the galaxy has actually seen Jedi. Most people simply think of them myths or war propaganda. In short, the Jedi can only show off to the privileged or lucky...
The Jedi have no control over other ppl's perceptions of them, nor do they try to control them. They simply live out their philosophy and let their actions speak for themselves. Most ppl haven't seen a Jedi because they weren't in the business of promoting themselves.
@@decepticonxhunter4850 You're right, they don't. But that still doesn't change the fact using the lightsaber as a protector symbol to others is basically pointless.
@@127mfanits their tradition and discipline. You are lucky to be born with a high midichlorian count, but your skill in lightsaber combat is only determined in your efforts and commitment in achieving your goals. It is more fairplay
@@ketamineheadyoda2248 Traditions can be changed or added onto. The Jedi order back then only had Form I. But they noticed it wasn't great in 1 vs 1 duels. So Form II was made. But that wasn't great against blasters, so Form III was made. And so on. The point is, changing and adapting is nothing new to the Jedi Code. And who says lightsabers are the only weapons that require skill and commitment?
How is this *one* commic episode better than almost everything Disney has ever done with the Star Wars IP after Revenge of the Sith?
😝🧐☝🏿🔍🏆🎯🔥! The Sith are Jedis that are reckless and who's victory , a government based on killing people , terror and suffering will never last long. That why when the Rebels and the few Jedis came back together piece and order was restored ! FACTS !!
I would think that this is after the little "if you touch me with the Force again, I'll finish what Kenobi could not" speech, so maybe Vader was hesitant to Disney his Emperor?
And to be fair, I don't feel that he ever REALLY changes. I've always personally seen Vader as more a duelist who can also use the Force, than a Dark Lord of the Sith who also handles a saber well. The Force was for terrorism, and making points; I'm not even sure Vader could channel it into his mechanical limbs, to augment his strength, or dexterity, at least not how other powerful Force-users do.
He channel it into his body ,stumps and all. Then the limbs had super strength and speed themselves
ROTS- Vader (pre-armor) still fought like a Jedi, focusing on lightsaber combat
And people thought Vader would beat Sidious,i always told them he had no chance
Some people underestimate how powerful Darth Sidious is.
He could have beaten sidious. But there was no point think about it,
Vader was hated by the officer class no sooner had he killed sidious would several admirals declared themselves emperor and the empire would fall into civil war.
Vader knew without his popularity as anakin there was no way to win over support especially when all that would do is draw the attention of the emperor.
Only the less intelligent would turn this into a silly top trumps scenario.
This makes this Vader fight in the Obi-wan show amazing. Vader, having just been embarrassed by Palpatine, is now trying to break Obi-wan in the same way. That's why he burns him and buries him under stone, to show Kenobi that the dark side of the force is his weapon now.
To me, it makes complete sense Palpatine taught Vadar more about Lightsaber combat. How else would he improve so far past Anakin despite his new limitations and without the war to hone his skills?
personally i don't think he improved in lightsaber conbat. He just fought much weaker enemies who stood no chance.
Force wise he is definately a force to be feared.
@@oceanbytez847those "weaker" enemies survived order 66
@@oceanbytez847 Except right after being put in the armor, he literally went up against a weapon master who is factually stronger than Obi-Wan or any Jedi he had faced up until that point. Kenobi and Siddious challenged Anakin/Vader in different ways, both with similar messages but with clearly different meanings.
Anakin: “Why aren’t there more variations in lightsabers?”
Kenobi: “Because DeviantArt does not exist in our galaxy.”
When Vader is pushed to the ground and humiliated by Palpatine. Vader should have used that humiliation as an opportunity to fuel his rage and receive the strength to quickly strike back at Palpatine.
He was told in another issue not to touch Palpatine with the force ever again or he'd be killed on the spot.

Vader could’ve tried, sure, but even that wouldn’t be enough to make any difference. Palpatine would’ve just deflected it and beaten him down once again. I think Vader was just so shocked to be beaten and humbled so quickly and easily, despite being one of the most gifted Force users and lightsaber duelists ever. That moment made Vader realise just how little he stacks up to the Emperor - Palpatine is unimaginably powerful. Vader then knew that the battle was lost, there was nothing he could do against the unassailable force of nature that is his master: Darth Sidious.

More “canon” bullshit…. Sidious would NEVER “embarrass” Vader in a blade to blade sparring session. Vader is Sidious’s SUPERIOR as a swordsman. He’s literally noted multiple times as the greatest swordmaster in galactic history in multiple different places. Sidious himself quite literally ADMITTED to Vader that he was his superior as a combatant.
Remember: Only Bruce Lee can wield lightsabers attached to chains.
Lord Vader ... have I ever told you about the musical about Ani O KIee the Sharpshooter, and how anything you can do, I can do better?
1. The Jedi were utterly pathetic. Why defend those who do not reciprocate?
2. Anakin was always trying to be like The Jedi when he clearly was nothing like them. Literally everyone who sparred with him seemed to get that.
3. Every faction or small group that goes against The Empire just seem to be reacting blindly as a result of The Empire's existence. They never seem to have a greater goal than "Empire bad, we good because we resist". To what ultimate goal? Crawl into a hole like Yoda to be left alone?
So thats how vader was able to defeat reva easily.
The Jedi are hypocrites. That's all there's to it. "We're guardians of the piece, not soldiers"; few scenes futher we see Jedi masters in the front line waging war. This is no different... we want to be seen with a light saber... Meanwhile in Clone Wars: "Anakin, man that turret!". Whatever happened to the lightsaber as the de-facto weapon?
"Master Skywalker.. why are we not subcribed?"
ppsshhhnnnnn!!!
I think the Jedi and Sith should main be a lightsabers but each order should disallow kinds lightsaber-like weapons if they are not too dangerous to the user like the light-whip. And instead of full on blasters they should have the hybrid lightsaber and blaster. For it is not really the weapon that matters it’s the user and their will to use them that is the key
Ezra crafted a lightsaber/blaster hybrid
I'm so bored of these retroactively inserted stories into star wars making Vader look weaker & weaker. He literally luzzed palps down a shaft one handed when he fancied it but I'm meant to believe the power gap was so wide between Vader & palps. And yeah before you say it I know he hasn't relearned to fight yet in his suit bla bla but come on there's it's palp fanboy porn at this point.
Write new stories with new characters, I miss Knights of the old Republic
Skill with the blade unrivalled except for Obi-wan, Luke, and Sidious.
meanwhile, over at Lucas films, it's revenge of the accountants with the ousting of all darksiders who would look to destroy the original concept
so the rumored Lightsaber Nunchucks are real, except as a concept by Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Awe, let the old man stretch his legs, he's earned it...taking over the galaxy is monotonous...
Yet so powerful, why discard your saber when fighting Yoda mmm?
I despise this tendency that has emerged about the Jedi being weak. Just hate it. Palpatine feared the Jedi in Empire and Return. Feared them.
Now they are portrayed as jabroni’s.

Wtf I didn’t know the emperor knew how to use a lightsaber
Now I have to know.. Does the emperor tell Vader "do not under estimate the power of the dark side."
gotta say this seems pretty lore accurate in my opinion 😊😊😊
yeah well vader lost 50% of his full power when he got 4 limbs cut off lol. his son Luke couldve unironically slapped Sidious around with proper training. Even with a non jedi mother, luke wouldve been 150% more strong than vader, and 125% stronger than Sidious. Kylo Ren was pretty on par with Vader's peak strength as well, and Rey was debatably stronger than kylo because she was directly an offspring to Sidious, but with much less training and exposure to the force. Rey would've been around 125%+ stronger than Kylo Ren with full training to Jedi Arbiter (gold lightsaber, she's techinically the strongest jedi alive with very few around). I think Obiwan at his peak was stronger than Luke, but weaker than Anakin's full potential. Sidious purposely had Anakin lose his limb to his apprentice dooku to weaken him once Sidious noticed his anger. He leaked information about his mother in attempt to groom his anger and reduce his humanity. But him losing 3 limbs to obiwan in a taboo brutal 1000 year old jedi technique designed to incapacitate enemies was unplanned and very much welcomed by Sidious. He knew at that point, vader can never be as strong as he was meant to be and he wouldn't have the power to betray him(sidious) anymore. By killing off padme and giving vader purpose and comfort, he conditioned his new apprentice to live a stagnant life where he would no longer need to fight and improve, but instead become weaker over time and busy with military orders. Sidious benefitted greatly by vader, able to use him to ward off any threats while sidious focused on focusing his dark force into immortality.
Obviously though, this is just numbers, and actual midi-chlorians somebody is born with can vary at birth based off a lot of unknown factors. Also the ability to manipulate midi-chlorians around them and artificially increase their midi-chlorians is possible aswell, seen with the Witch clan and General Grievous. Unfortunately grievous couldn't control midi-chlorians because he wasn't force sensitive, so his infusion from a jedi didn't allow him anymore. Dooku was the one who betrayed his jedi master Syphadias and stole his blood and gave it to Grievous for his vengeance against the jedi for killing his people. But in some cases with people like the witch clan being all force sensitive, they would charge themselves up like batteries and expel midi-chlorians and would need to recharge thru the mother from sacrificing other force sensitive users born with midi-chlorians. I'm probably extremely confusing, but potentially Sidious couldve also been siphoning off the force from Vader the whole time., which is why he possibly kept him around for that sole purpose. Vader became very very weak by the 3rd chapter, even though he was only middle aged, which was a bit strange.
I’d suggest re watching Star Wars, a lot of the stuff you said is utter garbage
So… Sith Ftw as far as lightsaber freedom? Lol
One thing I never understood in Star Wars is the retarded reasons Jedi or Sith do or do not do something.
Obi-Wan's lesson was pretty badass.

It’s crazy getting these idiot shorts recommend to me about who wins between palpatine vs Vader and when it comes to the option of dueling they say Vader wins and it’s just beyond me how ppl think that, same with Dooku.
Because Vader is his superior, this scene is after vader is put into his armour and has to relearn how to fight with new handicap.
So that anakin trained by quigon what if?

People always only really use 1 dart/knife, OR 1 weight, with say a similar like a Kasurigama or scythe an chain... There's no OTHER blade or hammer thing or multiple chains.. an far as difficult weapons go.. such real world weapons often take MANY years just to learn how to proficiently use. Even MORE to a lifetime to use as an actual fighting weapon. Figure wouldn't be much different then learning an extremely sharp rope dart. Its literally same thing
This training session does give us a discussion of what is the core of Darth Sidious' view of the lightsaber. That it is merely a symbol for humiliating the Jedi. This is in turn, the viewpoint of physical combat he inherited from Darth Plagueis. We know that Sidious never thought much of Lightsabers on a personal level, and he focused himself on his Force mastery, which was again, a habit he inherited from Plagueis.
And yet, many other Sith have viewed the lightsaber as their primary weapon - Count Dooku, Darth Maul, Darth Bane and others.
Likewise, Kenobi's view of the Lightsaber - "This weapon is your life" - is completely antithetical to the viewpoint of a Jedi Consular.
I find that this interaction is much more characteristic of Darth Sidious' habit of constantly deriding and humiliating Vader for what Sidious views as Vader's failures and weaknesses, rather than what the Sith as a whole believe.
Awesome video.
Sure, why didnt sidious throw everything at windu.
Pretty sure he did with a lightsaber
Trying to be high and mighty was the reason why their downfall was swift. Cal, Kanen, Ezra and Luke are the prime example of what Jedi's are supposed to be.
Fascinating!
But I'll just say the same thing I said on an old video, regarding some forgotten Legends Jedi that did use blasters. If the Jedi are serious about being protectors of the galaxy, then they have to be prepared to use any tool, any weapon at their disposal to achieve victory. Be it a saber, a blaster, a cannon, a rocket-launcher, starfighter-mounted torpedoes, etc. For all the training and discipline required, a lightsaber is just a tool in the end. Different tool for every fool.
Vader is so weak is funny
It's all BS anyway because Palpatine only getting this off because Anakin was limited by that suit Palps intentionally constructed to weaken him.
Miss me with later canon lore saying Palps offered an upgrade like by then he had made Anakin docile to his nefarious ways until he could figure out how to revive Padme and overthrow him covertly.
Sidious envisioned an entire empire (except its collapse), and Vader, a turncoat henchman, just does as he's told. Some chosen one, obeys his masters to death. Yes Sir, right away sir, by the way, your death is warm now, shall I serve you? Jolly good sir!
Great video, ty..
