Thing is a lot of people who make such comments are comparing it to mostly homogeneous & smaller European nation states. Countries where immigrants typically aren't able to successfully integrate en masse, and which also have some of their own issues. But regardless, compared to the third world, America (and Canada) are really like golden tickets. It might suck to have to work & hustle a lot, but there's actual opportunity. And immigrants who come from places where there can be just as much if not more labor but no opportunity, they tend to really make the most out of cases where they can grow to a much larger extent than native born citizens. Good question, I wish folks would realize that this isn’t mutually exclusive. What we’re doing and need to continue doing for Afghan translators and refugees, we could and in my opinion, should be doing for homeless people as well. Places like Salt Lake City, Utah, that have housed the homeless and provided access to mental health treatment, job search counseling, and the opportunity to enroll (not a mandate to do so) have had success and have actually saved taxpayer dollars because the amount of money they spent on those programs was still cheaper than the cost of the ER. It’s not inherently true that this same exact model would work everywhere, but it’s probably something we should look into and see whether it can be optimized for the situation in other cities across the US.
Being homeless in America isn't even comparable to what the Afgan refugees are facing. Even given a place to live and cash for basic needs, leaving all that you know and many that won't be as fortunate is terribly difficult. Many will suffer additional traumas at the hands a unwelcoming & chit-talking Americans. Have a heart ppl.

Homeless people do get help, but most have issues with addiction or mental health. These Afghan refugees are competent adults, and once on their feet will be self sustaining. I’m not saying we can’t do more for the homeless, but it’s a totally different challenge.
That is temporary housing. I volunteered for refugee resettlement and they usually had to find their own place in 90 days. That is the nicest temp house I have seen but maybe they have better funding than other agencies. Refugees usually have to pay the government the cost of airfare too. So families are in and out of those places like revolving door as they move on to the next step in their resettlement process. They start working pretty much immediately so they can pay for their own apartments and payback the government for the transportation costs. If they meet the criteria for like other Americans make below a certain amount they do qualify for programs like TANF and WIC and again those things are temporary. Depending on the city there are programs for the homeless to also provide housing but it comes with requirements like working, no drinking or drugs, must take prescribed medications for mental illness etc which is why a lot of people don’t take that opportunity and classified as chronically homeless as opposed to situationally homeless. Some city have been doing house first initiatives that give housing no restrictions apply ( allowing substance abuse etc) because they feel by providing this need will eventually get them on the path of improving their life and getting out of homelessness. More homeless have taken part of this program but more time is needed to see if housing the person first with out conditions actually leads them to other choices that help them out of homelessness.
With all due respect to our afghan brothers and sisters, but leaving your country is not the right way to defend your mother land. When Iraq attacked Iran in 1980, with the help of many Western and regional countries, Iranians stayed put and defended the country, so many people were killed, young and old, but at least the country did not get taken over by other countries or forces. People of a country should defend it by all means. I hope God helps everyone.

@@adamelhawari1391 many civilians in Iran were killed in air strikes, but did not leave their country. They either participated in the war, boys as young as 12-13 to old men. I met an Afghan translator (worked as soldier as well for the US) through work a few years ago and he told me some of the things he's been through and it's pretty crazy for us to imagine. He's really happy living here with his family and appreiates everything. I'm glad people are out to help others that are in their situation.
I can’t even imagine the amount of anxiety these people have 🥺 it just breaks my heart for these people. 90 days probably goes by so fast. But I’m thankful there’s anyone helping them.. I wanna be able to help.
Reach out to local posts there’s ton of staff like the one in the video that need help for hosts or people to provide basic supply’s or picking up refugees from the airport or if you don’t have time even donate will be a lot of help
I applaud that he's saving money already, but also that he's honest with the worker about where any funds given to him will go. Most people would have pocketed it and then kept mum about it
The fact that we get free documentaries on RUclips by VICE News is truly a gift 👍
Life in America is not easy as people assume in other countries. You have to work a lot to survive buddy. Good luck.
Yeah pizza making ain’t easy. I just made one helluva pie myself and nearly burnt my finger off. Luckily I had some frozen trader joe’s dinners in the freeze to ease my pain and suffering. Life here is TOUGH.

@@htxsupercrewon22s are you saying this based on your experiences outside of the US??? I have been to many places. We are a workaholic country.
Guarantee you this kid's son is gonna outperform the average classmate he goes to school with because of the grind personality of immigrant parents, and the interpreter himself will prob enter the middle class in a decade.
@@danieledelstein9129 you've never really lived in Europe or visited it much huh or otherwise left the white American bubble and taught mindset? The amount of immigrants USA takes per capita is actually very low compared to many other countries, and that American ignorant myth of European countries all being small and homogenous (and small size somehow making it easier) is so absurd. Greetings from an European immigrant that actually has lived in 4 countries around Europe and visited over 30 worldwide. Also USA having equal opportunity is a joke when comparing to other western countries, good job trying to further romanticize the non-existent American dream and pretend refugees/immigrants have the same chances in USA as a white person born there. And no, one kid getting a scholarship every now and then doesn't make up for the socioeconomic inequality.

Did they drive by all the homeless people on the way to the house?
Prob went straight from airport to the house
There are big houses and great stuff for foreigners and/or people who help the regime spread its toxins.

Homeless people do get help, but most have issues with addiction or mental health. These Afghan refugees are competent adults, and once on their feet will be self sustaining. I’m not saying we can’t do more for the homeless, but it’s a totally different challenge.
@@xyzzy4567 so are u saying they will have to leave that house? That they wont get any money at some point?
@@chilliefries424 Thank you for this information!
Le Taliban : thank you American taxpayer
This video gave me chills I hope they are able to find peace and happiness within America .
Why are they using a translator to talk to a translator... he speaks English
It is in case there are some English words or concepts he does not understand.
No one should be forced into nationalism. If they don't like their country they should be able to leave. As anyone anywhere else can relocate. US gets invaded tomorrow, I'm not sticking around.
These are just civilians???? What are they supposed to do.
@@adamelhawari1391 many civilians in Iran were killed in air strikes, but did not leave their country. They either participated in the war, boys as young as 12-13 to old men. Others would provide support for the ones on the battle field by preparing their clothing, food, moral support, etc. This is how a country can defend the land, not by leaving the country and handing it to the enemies.
Look iran-iraq war, and the sacrifices people made to defend Iran in an unjust war where many countries were providing Iraq with all the equipments and weaponry they could use against Iran.
So many civilians were killed in that war. So many people, without proper army training, had to join in to fight against the enemy, they were not even soldiers, they were civilians, innocent people.
@@aYep000 patriotism is dead then!
@Sakai I'm not being mean or insensitive, but I think they should defend their country if they respect their mother land and their ancestors. Imagine if all the Afghans left their country only to protect their own lives, there would be no Afghanistan in the future.
I wish them all the best of luck wherever they are. I wish for a peaceful world.
How are they capable of housing refugees and not the homeless? But makes sense for refugees that worked/helped the US army. Translators save and saved lives:)
Many homeless folks don't want help, they're in a position where they can't receive help, and/or politics and politicians won't allow any help to happen. This is the madness of living in the United States. We've set up a system that works and doesn't work at the same time.

@@chilliefries424 thank you so much for the informative reply!
Sinc3 we l3ft we don’t n3ed them anymo43
Everything they are getting is temporary. They get 3 months rent, food and utilities paid. After 3 months they have to pay their own rent and bills.
Don't get me wrong, I don't hate those people at all, but there are a lot of homeless people. Too many forgotten veterans living on the streets with no shelter, no dignity. A lot of poor people as well, they're barely getting by. IMO They should have the priority to live a decent life. The US should take care of its own FIRST. I'll always see them as unwanted and freeloaders because it was unnecessary to take them in, sorry.
Why did yall delete the texas students back to school video?
Much like this title, they are scrambling to fix their oopsies.
Annnd they just uploaded and removed it yet again, it's hard work rushing out propaganda!
Except most the people who were evacuated were random Afghanis not translators
We should take care of this guy for what he has done for us
🙏 for you, you are now OUR FAMILY🙏🙏
WOW, SUCH A POSITIVE OUTLOOK FOR LIFE FROM THIS YOUNG FAMILY!
There are many parts of America that hates immigrants. But I also know that America is full of people with open hearts and open minds who will do what they can to help those in need. That's the America that I like to remember.
Most people don't care as long as you integrate.
Amen to that!!!!
