- In this video Dr. Ilan Green teaches us how to stretch the quadratus lumborum muscle, which is one of the primary muscles that can be the source of tightness in the lower back. This video demonstrates a simple stretch known as the "doorway stretch".

How long should I hold this stretch?
What about warmup? My back is real tight
A warm up is a great option. However, if your back is really tight we wouldn't recommend trying to push through the tightness. We recommend finding a provider in your area who might be able to perform a thorough examination to better understand your back pain so that you may receive more specific recommendations.
