Dont know if anyone said but the pincones are used to censor because they are Pinecone Pigs, the absolute best item in the game. Its a kids toy made from a pinecone and 4 sticks, it also acts as an idol that randomly gifts you with an item every battle you start. It will run across your screen when a battle starts if you are given an item.

Its nice to see this game finally get the recognition it deserves. Since connor played as Ragnvaldr, heres some tips for him if anyone ever decides to play this game! (fun fact, ragnvaldr is likely a reference to Guts from Berserk) In the starting cutscene where connor fucked up and chose all the worst options, here is what you SHOULD pick: "The very first step is to choose your weapon." Pick the bow and arrow, it gives you a short bow and 5 iron arrows. Now you can kill enemies without having to enter combat by pressing shift with the bow. Great for early game before you get weapons. (if you REALLY WANT TO, choosing the axe and shield is fine) "As the weak met their fate, the rest indulged in the greatest sin..." CHOOSE TO EAT YOUR FALLEN SHIPMATES! Devour is a great skill to learn, allowing you to eat (most) enemies you defeat. Theres also no penalty to using the skill! "Some of your comrades lost their minds while others tried to pillage anything and flee back to your ship." Dont take anything and rush to your ship. This is where connor fucked up and chose to take stuff, and lost the coin flip giving him panophobia. You start out with a random phobia no matter what, but panophobia will basically fuck you over the entire game. Running to your ship grants you nothing, but opens an option for the next choice that will be very helpful. "The man would witness the iron will tempered in the north and in the dark continent of Vinland." Rush straight after him (Le'garde) This only appears if you chose to rush to the ship in the previous choice. This grants you the dash skill which lets you run, which is an amazing skill to have in this game After this, what you do is entirely up to you. Ragnvaldr is also required to either play as or is important/has dialogue for the following endings: Ending C Ending C-II (2) Ending E Ending S* *Every character has their own unique S ending. Their S-endings are only achievable in hard mode or terror and starvation. Ill detail his S ending below. SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY Ragnvaldr's s-ending, The God of Ultra-Violence, is arguably the hardest S-ending to achieve. To get this ending, you need to be on hard mode or terror and starvation. (Would not recommend t&s as it makes the game stupidly hard and makes it so you cant have party members.) Once you find Le'garde, (dead or alive it doesnt matter) the game will give you a message reminding you that you are here to cleanse all the evil in the dungeons. (Connor didn't get this message as he was not in hard mode) Now you are required to eliminate every enemy with a unique soul. (You use soul stones to absorb the souls of dead enemies.) This means killing basically every boss and some other difficult enemies. The enemies required to obtain the souls of are: Black Witch Iron Shakespeare 22:52 Butterfly 25:10 Crow Mauler (unfortunately) Cavemother Salmonsnake White Angel Old Guardian Nilvan, the Endless One Chambara, the Tormented One Valteil, the Enlightened One François, the Dominating One The black witch, butterfly, and nilvan do not have to be killed. (Nilvan can't die anyway) When you kill the Black Witch, theres around a 30% chance her body just doesnt show up, and you can no longer get her soul. If this happens, use an empty scroll and type this: O LORD GIVE BLACK WITCH DO NOT KILL THE BUTTERFLY, AS THIS LOCKS YOU OUT OF KILLING THE OLD GUARDIAN Instead, destroy the purple heart in the Golden Temple. (in the past by using that weird contraption at 41:08) Nilvans soul is only obtained through an empty scroll or the way that connor did at 41:15 by going through the flashback and killing the skin granny Once all of these enemies have been killed, you can finally leave the dungeons, having killed everything with real power in the dungeons. (another fun fact, this ending is probably a reference to the "Too fucking angry to die" trope) The youtuber NoCommentary12 has a video guide on his channel ruclips.net/video/iz3MQlYirLs/видео.html He does use multiple restrictions, such as no scrolls, coin flip items, no necromancy/blood golems, but you dont need to follow those.
One correction: hard mode is the one that doesn't let you get party members, and it is also the only difficulty that you can get S endings on. You can get unique endings on T&S mode though. Otherwise great job my man

The game does absolutely explain most things. Just in obscure ways. Sometimes it's as easy as reading a book. Others... however... For example, the Empty scrolls: If you kill the lonely priest near Trotur he drops his clothes. If you wear them and talk to the others, they will not attack you. One of the other two explains that he uses the empty scrolls to ask All-Merr for things and how. In addition, in the two libraries where you find Enki there are books (presumably written by the priest from before or Enki) teaching you how to.

Thanks for making the game! I haven't enjoyed a horror game this much since playing the old Silent Hills as a teen.
Thank you for making these 2 masterpieces!
i really enjoy the narration. It adds a lot of context (which is very much needed for this game) and it adds something new that made me feel like im not just watching the stream again
I was just thinking that it’s interesting to I guess see his reflection on his actions or what he chose previously
I sincerely hope that you play the second game; Miro (the creator) did a PHENOMENAL job taking the lore of the first game and expanding it (and the mechanics) in a meaningful, progressive way that makes the game both more enjoyable AND a better lore experience. It's insane how well Miro did in crafting a deep, unforgiving story with consistent lore.
19:41 The moment I became sure this is a Finnish game. Salmonsnake is a literal translation of "lohikäärme," which means dragon.
Looking at the Lucky Coin in your inventory tells you exactly how to use it silly Connor
fr though, panaphobia sounds like a miserable existence
you can actually use cahara efficiently the first time you get him (and before he leaves) to clear out the enemies on prison cell area, after that you'll have a room where you can use to save anytime you want.
I fell asleep with this stream playing and experienced the most cursed dreams imaginable
Lmao
That’s understandable. I’ve played Funger and it’s sequel, there’s lots that could cause nightmares!
So many pinecones...
Funny you say that, i watched this yesterday and i fell asleep after a bad day today. Guess what dreams i was having? Fucken torture stuff like i was the "Trortur" guy doing revenge against his enemy. Bruh😭
did those dreams make you afraid and hungry?
Imagine Connor's despair if he knew there was a secret that allowed you to trivialise/skip _all_ of the mine/cavern area☠️
Fear and Hunger is in a league of its own. It deserves all the attention for being 100% committed to its vision and giving _no_ shits whatsoever. Here's hoping Connor plays the sequel, I hear it's even better. :D
Connor WILL play the second game, it is chock full of....
JOJO REFERENCES
Like one every 15 minutes of play kind of full
It’s hard that’s why no one will talk about it more

I think Conners expression here sums up the Fear & Hunger series rather well
Watched the VoD and this it was so good.
Shame he missed the sylvian "marriage" of flesh where you can romance and become one being with a romance option
Absolutely terrifying and OP 😂
Game tells you about Empty Scrolls on a library stand, and the Dark Priests...if you find a way to make them talk without attacking you
Seeing that there's a censored version and seeing how the devs censored the game is actually hilarious
If I'm not mistaken, the censorship patch is a fan work. I can't really remember who did it though.
Might be Frappolo
The censor is fanmade. The dev and most of the community is adamant that the sexual stuff is needed
If my memory serves me right, it was made by the RUclipsr NoCommentary.
He did it for personal use at first because he didn't want to censor the game with editing anymore.
(He also made a censored version without the pinecone pig, to preserve the original atmosphere)
@@ryokiritani4187I mean, it definitely makes the world feel a lot more grim and inhospitable, which is my preferred method of playing, but nobody will say anything against you for playing censored.
What I find equally annoying as the people who say you must play uncensored, are those who shame others for thinking those elements are a good addition of the game.
It's a game where you literally can get skinned alive, have your lower body chopped off, mutilate a little girl, torture a teammate or get tortured, and I am to believe that the creatures in the game would fall short of f*cking the player.
@@ryokiritani4187Weirdos s'what i'd call them, honestly i think the game would have been better without it. It just feels so goofy to have dicks and tits flying around everywhere, like more of a dark fetish game. Vastly perfer the pinecones
7:30 and that was the butterfly effect that lead to Connor’s sad sad sad coin flip montage in the second game.
Tails never fails :(
Finally, I already watched stuff to the game and really liked it, and when I heard you talk about it in the podcast, I was really hoping for a video to it. Gonna watch it now, I'm hyped.
You could already see the VODs even before they talked about it in the podcast
Lmao I lost it at salmonsnake @ 19:35 Dragon in Finnish is lohikäärme which directly translated is salmonsnake lmao.
damn the thumbnail art is so gorgeous, props to the artist they are amazing
you know the game is good when Connor doesn't skip cut scenes
Dude literally tried to roll a blunt and pass it to the dog LMAOOO
Thanks Mudan for editing this down, I've been wanting to finish watching him play this but haven't had enough time to get through the 6+ hour vods of his play through. Also, thank you too Connor for the content.
I can totally see an Dark Isekai/Reincarnation Mannhwa where you are the character in this game. Actually reminds me of “Surviving The Game as a Barbarian”.
This game strangely has me very invested
How to get connor to care about story: make it impossible to beat without knowing the story
Thanks for the video editors! Couldn't catch the full stream. Also like usual Chiktheartist thumbnail, best in the business.
I didn't mind all of the explanations around the beginning. In fact, I really enjoyed them! Goes to show how much details would go over our heads without them, it made following your playthrough a bit more understandable.
Hope you play this again with the other characters and get different endings! :D
The hardest part of this for Connor was watching cutscenes
Watched the full stream , it was so worth it.
ong
Me too man, was great.
Speak the truth king, it was a glorious time indeed.
Same here, it was amazing
fr i usually just listen to streams but fear and hunger got me so invested I actually watched the whole vod
"Only popular in Russia until recently"
You don't say, haha.
Expected nothing less of Connor as the epic gamer he is in persevering through all the hard stuff the game throws at you.
Oh boy! I actually finished watching a video of someone talking about this game a few weeks ago and now I get to watch one of my favorite youtubers play through the entire game? This is gonna be great!
30:45 a claymore user with one hand. Basically turned your character into guts
loved it! normally dislike horror games, gore, and terror inflicting stuff, but the censored mod and your commentary made me fall in love with the game. i'm a fan!
Space Funeral would be interesting to have be played by Conner its OST is insanely unique
49:28 After hours playing a game like this it feels terrifying to meet something that gently pets you xD
The CIA use this game as a form of torture
damn you really fell of patterz, i knew gameboyluke was better than you
True tho
>"You can hold down shift to use a lucky coin, but the game obviously never tells you any of this!"
>Is literally in the lucky coin item description
lol
Bro the artist for the thumbnail need a raise holy crap
i love how he actually explains shit thats some dedication honestly fucking banger holy shit
It doesn't seem like the gameplay is up my alley but this game seems so cool, really enjoyed watching this video. Gonna check out the full vod. Would love to see him play the sequel!
I became so obsessed with this game a couple weeks ago trying to find any video covering it so I could find all the information I could. Basically, Connor your late.
I actually watched the entire 12hrs vod
Im suprised they manage to cut it down to 1 hr
I hope connor plays termina tho
Thank you for putting detailed trigger warnings ! It helps me a lot personally and I'm really grateful when people take it seriously ^^ have a great day !
Young Francois is like a League of Legends player. Loses the mental to /all chat, proceeds to lose the game lmao. Thanks for the video!
The first game where Connor genuinely cared about the story and its dialogue.
The only game where Connor reads texts and dialogues
Its nice to see this game finally get the recognition it deserves. Since connor played as Ragnvaldr, heres some tips for him if anyone ever decides to play this game!
(fun fact, ragnvaldr is likely a reference to Guts from Berserk)
In the starting cutscene where connor fucked up and chose all the worst options, here is what you SHOULD pick:
"The very first step is to choose your weapon."
Pick the bow and arrow, it gives you a short bow and 5 iron arrows. Now you can kill enemies without having to enter combat by pressing shift with the bow. Great for early game before you get weapons. (if you REALLY WANT TO, choosing the axe and shield is fine)
"As the weak met their fate, the rest indulged in the greatest sin..."
CHOOSE TO EAT YOUR FALLEN SHIPMATES! Devour is a great skill to learn, allowing you to eat (most) enemies you defeat. Theres also no penalty to using the skill!
"Some of your comrades lost their minds while others tried to pillage anything and flee back to your ship."
Dont take anything and rush to your ship. This is where connor fucked up and chose to take stuff, and lost the coin flip giving him panophobia. You start out with a random phobia no matter what, but panophobia will basically fuck you over the entire game. Running to your ship grants you nothing, but opens an option for the next choice that will be very helpful.
"The man would witness the iron will tempered in the north and in the dark continent of Vinland."
Rush straight after him (Le'garde) This only appears if you chose to rush to the ship in the previous choice. This grants you the dash skill which lets you run, which is an amazing skill to have in this game
After this, what you do is entirely up to you.
Ragnvaldr is also required to either play as or is important/has dialogue for the following endings:
Ending C
Ending C-II (2)
Ending E
Ending S*
*Every character has their own unique S ending. Their S-endings are only achievable in hard mode or terror and starvation. Ill detail his S ending below. SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY
Ragnvaldr's s-ending, The God of Ultra-Violence, is arguably the hardest S-ending to achieve. The enemies required to obtain the souls of are:
Black Witch
Iron Shakespeare 22:52
Butterfly 25:10
Crow Mauler (unfortunately)
Cavemother
Salmonsnake
White Angel
Old Guardian
Nilvan, the Endless One
Chambara, the Tormented One
Valteil, the Enlightened One
François, the Dominating One
The black witch, butterfly, and nilvan do not have to be killed. (Nilvan can't die anyway) When you kill the Black Witch, theres around a 30% chance her body just doesnt show up, and you can no longer get her soul. If this happens, use an empty scroll and type this:
O LORD
GIVE
BLACK WITCH
DO NOT KILL THE BUTTERFLY, AS THIS LOCKS YOU OUT OF KILLING THE OLD GUARDIAN
Instead, destroy the purple heart in the Golden Temple. (in the past by using that weird contraption at 41:08)
Nilvans soul is only obtained through an empty scroll or the way that connor did at 41:15 by going through the flashback and killing the skin granny
Once all of these enemies have been killed, you can finally leave the dungeons, having killed everything with real power in the dungeons.
(another fun fact, this ending is probably a reference to the "Too fucking angry to die" trope)
The youtuber NoCommentary12 has a video guide on his channel ruclips.net/video/iz3MQlYirLs/видео.html
He does use multiple restrictions, such as no scrolls, coin flip items, no necromancy/blood golems, but you dont need to follow those.
One correction: hard mode is the one that doesn't let you get party members, and it is also the only difficulty that you can get S endings on. You can get unique endings on T&S mode though.
Otherwise great job my man
I feel like this channel is slowly becoming the main channel
Well he uploads 2 to 3 videos max in main channel and the content is vastly different. Twitch streams are edited and uploaded in this channel and so more videos monthly.
i watch this one way more
God, I hope he plays the sequel. This and the VODs was really fun and entertaining to watch!
This was an amazing playthrough. Watched both vods and this video. Please do go for fear and hunger 2 termina, we are all so ready for it
0:39
It integer overflows.
*Twice.*
*_And the value is still massive._*
Glad that the game is getting the recognition that it deserves
Fun fact, there’s a spot in the twisted roots (go through the secret entry in the library, and then blow up the rubble in the back right of the courtyard) where there’s a glitched lucky coin pickup and you can get infinite lucky coins
I'm so glad this game is getting more exposure.
It's real fucked up but man it's also so interesting.
I hope Connor plays the second one too.
When I was watching the Dredge VODs I think he mentioned playing it in the future when his schedule isn’t everywhere.
I would play it if it didn’t have rape scenes, pretty unnecessary and as someone who’s been through that in real life it just makes me extremely sick
@@AbyssalSirenSongyou can just skip straight to the second since it has no rape scenes like the first, the closest thing being a scene where caligura attempts to sexually assault you while you’re sleeping as abella (there’s nothing explicit), and you get to brutally kill him. If you feel bad about lacking the context of the first game when going into termina, you can watch worm girl’s fantastic video explaining the story that’s actually told in f&h 1.
@@flamo2666It's just kinda the fact that it has it at all for me personally. So i think i'll just watch lore videos
I know you guys have used this style of periodic narrated bits to contextualizing what was happening in the stream but it was employed to great effect in this video in a way that really impressed me and made the narrative arc of the video really easy to follow and engaging, great production decision really held my attention thumbs up.
So excited to see FH finally blowing up after so long. It deserves all the attention along with FH Termina 🥰
Funnily, it seems that canonically, Ragnvaldr tamed Moonless and she stayed by his and his descendants' side.
Absolutely adored this playthrough . Really, really hope to see him try the sequel in the future even if he had a rough time with this in spots.
props to you for finishing this game, and i'm so happy that this game is finally getting some attention. such a special one in its genre.
I could immediately recognize the Ayami Kojima-inspired art in the thumbnail. Absolutely huge props to the artist. I'm looking through their portfolio right now because I'm so in love with their work.
Oh god reading the disclaimer already gave me goosebumps.
yeah the game sounded really cool when they talked about it on the podcast but the disclaimers and warnings are really hammered so much that I'm probably not gonna watch or play it just in case. Would very much love a slightly sugarcoated version of this game, I just want the gameplay experience
@@ember_falls connor is playing the censored version, the original version has just more genitalia and r*pe. Of course the censored version is still very frightening
@@ember_falls this game isn't meant for you then tbh the game isn't that Bad as long as you're good enough
The smilling dudes are the worst tbh
@@ember_falls Play the sequel instead. Unlike the first game, you don't get raped and no children are harmed...on screen.
I hope he plays the Sequel. Much more beginner friendly but still brutal and unforgivable.
It's so funny that Connor went through the entire game with Panophobia and no one told him about it being basically hard mode or to restart. He only found out after the game lmao.
This reminds me a lot not just of _Berserk,_ but of _Kingdom Death Monster_ in particular.
It's actually really awesome and I'm definitely going to give it a try.
Connor sounds so horrified and done with the game as he's narrating 😂😂😂😂
his narration about panophobia made me laugh because in the beginning when he was going through the intro, he thought that the choices wouldn't matter... OH BOY 😂
Literally only found out about this game like 8 hours ago and i love the fandom so much already!!
Erik fanart is either ghastly ghoul or gorgeous twink no in between❤
I wanna play this game now but in a funny-haha-starts-sobbing way
Can I just say that thumbnail art is amazing and the way the Outlander is drawn is incredibly handsome and cute
