honestly a lot of the videos I have watched on the game up until this point either didn't get that far, or chose to leave out the info. I can see what people meant by "the game is best played blind" (without watching these types of vids), but I'm honestly glad I watched this one. I had no idea there was so much more to it.
inscryption's cutscenes are super short and interesting. I'm just like connor when it comes to gaming, story and cutscenes, but I had no desire to skip anything in inscryption
I get connor's preference tho. Most of jrpgs are basically just visual novels with a core gameplay slapped to the side. I hate running around an area talking to 10 different npcs just to advance the story, and unless I do that I have no clue wtf is happening. And even then, it doesn't even do shit to the gameplay itself. Best you get are one off parts when an npc becomes unavailable due to the story, or a mechanic is temporarily introduced/removed. At that point I'd honestly just watch the anime or read the LN.
Hey Connor! If you didn't know, the dev made a follow-up game mode called Kacey's mod that's essentially a repeatable mode of the first part of the game but with additional content and lore! If you enjoyed that part, you might enjoy this mode in your free time!

I remember someone made a Pokémon fan game that lifts a bunch of Inscryption’s mechanics, and that was fun. Pokémon Crystal something. Darkest Dungeon is closer to Inscryption in vibes, Slay the Spire has the deep card game roguelike gameplay. Griftlands is another cool story-based rogue like card game, but the vibes are totally different.

fucking FINALLY streamer that actually finish Inscription. So many makes like 20 episodes on act 1 trying to milk it for everything it's worth and then find out it's a multiple acts game and then just quit which is so annoying. Tho out of everyone I am surprised Connor actually played through the entire thing and enjoyed it this much (even tho it's an amazing game)

inscryption is such a treat, when you think its over, the game (+ARG) has only begun i do wish there was a vs mode as a bonus, such a fun simple system would have been great with friends Also the Gorillaz edit at 26:40 cracked me up
I feel like story based jrpgs just has too much dialogue, and some sections were you have to sit through 15-20 mins of texts by talking to 10 different npcs, just to get an idea of the plot without it being actually integrated into the game itself or through some sort of cutscene. Here, there are some parts that'll just end your current playthrough if you weren't paying attention to what the npc was saying, which makes actually reading what they are talking about important to the actual game itself instead of just purely for the lore.

@@idiosyncrasy7703 Yeah, JRPG’s usually don’t have any sense of pacing. The biggest thing working for Persona is that it’s an exception to this - in Persona, you alternate between gameplay and visual novel segments pretty frequently, and they both reinforce each other.
He likes it when the gameplay is actually involved with the story. If it's mainly told through cutscenes or dialogue he's much more inclined to just skip through
Btw I love that each of the scribes represent a specific part of the game: the Robot represents gameplay, Leshy represents atmosphere, Magnificus represents presentation and Grimora represents the story. That's why Leshy's part has you the most immersed but the game balance can be easily broken, the Robot's part has the most game mechanics and balance but the dude completely doesn't care about setting a tone or story, Magnificus's final battle is completely shallow in terms of gameplay if you really dissect it but it looks and sounds cool af.
This game's story and ARG are actualy apart of an over arching storyline / ARG following gamefuna. The publishers other games are definitely worth a play. They made Pony Island, a game where you play as a pony and go through running levels (at first) and The Hex, a game where you have to find the murderer in a old bar & hotel in a world akin to the world of wreak it ralph (characters leaving their games and visiting others.) Gamefuna is mentioned in all of these, and their involvement is quite direct at times. I highly suggest watching that the publisher brings out in the future, chances are that they make another game to add to the the story of Gamefuna

I played through Kaycee's Mod as it was in development, and that was some of the most fun I've had in a long time. Really happy to see you play the game and that you liked it as much as I did.

I love watching people play through this game for the first time and seeing how they react to the various acts, the mechanics, the characters. It's absolutely delightful to see how everyone develops their own strategies and build their decks. This is one of my favorite games of all time, and it makes me happy you enjoyed it!

the ARG for this game is crazy too. the creator really hid disks out in the world, and theres secret codes in the game, like the holes on leshys roof are a number. you get so much lore about the game in the OLD_DATA. its a rabbit hole.
A lot of people dont know this but the encounter at 3:10 is a scribted loss, in your first run. I managed to beat it but then he just filled the board with grizzlys.
This is my favorite game ever made. Finished it in 2 days and binged the hell out of it. Had so much fun with the first Act that I played a few extra runs purposely not removing the eye to progress. Was a blast but wasn't difficult. Kasey's mod is much better if you are looking for a challenge.
fun fact for those who don't know. the hammer in act 3 does not destroy a card. it actually deals 100 damage to the card in question. you realize this if you've jacked up orobot
The caged wolf can also be uncaged if the prospector hits it with his pick.. no gold, just a wolf. That's how I did it. Mantis cannot give you a pelt from the trapper, as a boss. Killing traps with the mantis lets you spring the trap and he won't die.
Most fun I had was creating a infinite loop with the scribe of the dead deck. Got the necromancer,bone lord and the other rare bone card. Got infinite damage and you could farm infinite teeth through the training dummy. I wiped out my deck completely to create a deck of four necros,four lords and four of the other rare, past that I had the four skeletons and the bone farmer just to give me the first bones needed to drop necro in the first place. It was super time consuming to go to ridiculous levels but I created a 999/999 lord lol
25:40 well... in reality - no. Water would damage it. And ARG for this game prove that (they put floppy in some place and water in dirt damage it so it become unreadable. That was no end for ARG because authors prepare another floppy for that and give it)
The best part of Inscryption is you get to beat the game, go "that was fun" and then the game starts.

Leshy’s death actually made me really sad, he was so well written and just wanted to have fun playing a thematic card game. Good game friend.

Yeah that is the easy way to defeat the moon. I generally always take an adder and merge it with something just so the moon gets cheesed easily.
I did the same thing when I had the random sigil and it turned to death touch right before the moon segment, I hadn't even gotten that far before lol
i doubt you would have lost anyway. the moon is really easy.
Because the moon has 1 attack, anything with stink basically ends the fight as well, and Leshy even gets pissed saying it makes no sense.

In Kaycee's mod however the moon has the stone buff meaning it can't get one shot and doesn't have stink

This is my favorite game ever made. Finished it in 2 days and binged the hell out of it. Had so much fun with the first Act that I played a few extra runs purposely not removing the eye to progress. Was a blast but wasn't difficult. Kasey's mod is much better if you are looking for a challenge.

fun fact for those who don't know. the hammer in act 3 does not destroy a card. it actually deals 100 damage to the card in question. you realize this if you've jacked up orobot

The caged wolf can also be uncaged if the prospector hits it with his pick.. no gold, just a wolf. That's how I did it.
Mantis cannot give you a pelt from the trapper, as a boss. Killing traps with the mantis lets you spring the trap and he won't die.
Most fun I had was creating a infinite loop with the scribe of the dead deck. Got the necromancer,bone lord and the other rare bone card. Got infinite damage and you could farm infinite teeth through the training dummy. I wiped out my deck completely to create a deck of four necros,four lords and four of the other rare, past that I had the four skeletons and the bone farmer just to give me the first bones needed to drop necro in the first place. It was super time consuming to go to ridiculous levels but I created a 999/999 lord lol
25:40 well... in reality - no. Water would damage it. And ARG for this game prove that (they put floppy in some place and water in dirt damage it so it become unreadable. That was no end for ARG because authors prepare another floppy for that and give it)
I remember one time, I crafted a card that costed zero, was 7/7 and had the triple attack thing. Pretty fun when it was in the starting hand
Games like Inscryption remind me that games can indeed be epic
