#CDawgVA #darkestdungeon
I remember when I was playing this game, I was informed of a strategy others have called the "US military" strat, where you hire 4 random ass new heroes, any kind, doesn't matter, send them into a suicide run into a dungeon to grab as much loot and gold as they can, and go until you fear a party wipe, then pull them out, take the loot for yourself, and release them from service to deal with their physical and mental damage on their own.
Edit: I'm also aware this doesn't work on the hardest difficulty before someone points it out, because you're under both a time and death limit.
That sounds about right. The name checks out.
the dungeon crawling industrial complex
Yep, I was playing Darkest Dungeon with a few friends of mine (Using parsec and just taking control of any one goon) and we'd constantly run Torchless dungeons using The Suicide Squad :tm:.
Absolutely BASED
Goes completely against how I play
Which is:
There is only ONE of each class.
Once you recruit one from the Cart, you cannot recruit another of the same type ever again.
I DO use Modded classes though to fill in so I have enough to manage
Makes deaths REALLY hurt
I am actually amazed he managed to keep Reynauld (Ragnvaldr) and Dismas alive that long.
I actually didn't even think of this before you said it, but turns out Reynauld is literally the French version of Reginaldus, which is the Latinized form of "Raginwald", which itself is the German equivalent of the Norse "Ragnvaldr"!
Ragnvaldr from Fear and Hunger confirmed as the canonical ancestor of Reynauld.
They're both GigaChads, after all.
@@MuFu23someone send this conner now.
I mean its crusader and Highwayman. Those 2 class are realistically will never die unless you get super unlucky.
There is an achievement to beat the end game with them still in the party!
@@darkkeybladersi got that achivement my rey and dis was on their last leg vs the final boss
dismas fell into despair
rey got powerful
criting the boss
they gone into the dungeon together and end the horror together
There are 2 tips that helped me conquer this game:
1. Stress heal is king.
2. Stress damaging enemies must die first.
There's a lot more stuff but that should give anyone a big boost.
that's vester bundle looking real good rn
In most rpgs the most dangerous enemy is the big guy with a big axe, but in darkest dungeon the most dangerous enemy is whoever has the weirdest weapon
3. Hitting your enemies is important.
The Jester can cover 2 out of those 3.
@@andregon4366 underrated
Yes, offensive playstyle is king, with a support of well mixed utility support/lifeline
"Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow, and insidious killer."
Silly of Connor to overlook this. (Humu humu)
saw the thumbnail, saw the title, came straight to the comments to see someone quoting this
This is number 1 rule of every Darkest Dungeon player.
You know the game is hype when the art for the thumbnail is the same as the fear and hunger vids
wow you zoomers are obsessed with fear and hunger now and compare everything to it
@@alkadeyas dude project your self hate somewhere else please.
@@petermaximoff4598 it's not projecting it's reality, why don't you go be a simp somewhere else?
Yeah its not the the exact same this is more in line with the darkest dungeon art style
this is the darkest dungeon artstyle 😭 (I guess they have a similiarity though?)
The thing about Darkest Dungeon is that it really heavily relies on metaknowledge. Knowing what effects come out of which interactable will significantly reduce the chance of getting shitty effects. Doubly so if you know using which items will guarantee good results.
Additionally, knowing how to hedge bets in battle is also integral just like X-com-like games.
Well, what Connor feels is in line with what most players feel when they get into this game blind. If he kept up, I'm sure he'll be good at this game.
The Sin is not in being outmatched, but failing to recognize it.
There is no shame in retreat, but there is only pain in loss.
I mean he was seriously close to beating it which is pretty good for a first run - its just his impatience that got him
If you watched the VoD and saw how many times he clicked on a stack of books AFTER he said "I think the books are bad" you might have second thoughts.
ngl for a first timer he was faring EXTREMELY well. Dude first tried a DD mission, beat two swine kings enraged (lmao btw) and all around just seemed to get through quests and combat really well after a while. As a veteran, I am very impressed!
@@irishchick6315 Yeah he would have beaten it if he took the time to heal everyone before going in with a bunch of stress. Although I wonder if he quit. DD can be quite a grindy af game if your A team got wiped.
Connor did me so dirty in this game, man I was set up to fail from the start
Ah yes I remember that. 😂
he literally put you in one of the worst characters :C (except in pvp that thing is broken there)
Get your revenge by naming him in a game and tossing him into C Class...Chokedawg Class 😂
he's not overconfident, just too impatient - watching him walk into every trap and never use anti-ambush skills in camp was killing me the whole video
And his apparent lack of torches
Hey, we all learned one way or another
And the amount of times he just touched curios instead of trying to see if one of his items could interact with it
@@chiksnboozI'm only 2/3 in and I'm like, I'm surprised he hasn't learned and no one in chat has said that you can use items to negate negative curios, and even increase rewards. Then again, he also brute forced his way to the end of Fear and Hunger without learning a damn thing about how the game worked, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised lmao
I mean, I think he brute forced fear and hunger 2 more than 1 - but yeah sometimes I have hope for the guy but I def knew DD was going to kick his ass! Part of me def wanted to see him suffer especially after having this game kick my ass so many times! I've watched some expert utubers play this with phds in physics and still occasionally suffer with this game!@@bananagher7555
Literally ending on a choke. As expected as the one and only ChokeDawgVeryAbusive
He did not remind himself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer, and paid the price
"Remember, there can be no bravery...without MaDnEsS."
You could say he paid in full
@@Benmans404 "Cost of preparedness, measured now in gold, later in blood."
Curious is the trapmaker's art, his efficacy unwitnessed by his own eyes
I love when people with insufferable egos are crushed by their own incompetence and idiocy.
6:30-6:45
These 15 seconds perfectly describe the feeling of playing this game. 3 months ago, I was able to train 2 full teams of lvl 6 champions and I STILL never attempted the darkest dungeon, cuz I was too afraid of losing my team(s) and starting all over 😭
Reynauld getting virtuous on his first stress was almost poetic in a way
seeing him put jester in first rank raised my blood pressure immensely
So glad he finally played this masterpiece of a game
Connor has a penchant for masochism so oppressive games like DD and F&H are perfect for him
@@meodrac I hope he keeps playing them because they're my kind of games and it's pretty fun to see others play them too
First funger now darkest? Hell yeah
Funger my fav game 😂
Hear and funger. My gavorite fame
@@Lost526 bro thats funny 🤣

@@cry-o1436 even better, dear and funger: the fingering
The fact he killed wilbur all three times and no one warned him about it its insane
Rallying Flare/Skeet Shot: "Am I a joke to you?"
The fact that he did not put the pieces together is wild tho. Like, the heroes even spell it out for you and even back when they didnt it was quite obvious (after a while) that the dude only does his large party-wide attack after you hit Wilbur. But hey what do I know, apparently alpha gaming chads dont need to spare Wilbur, they just win anyway :D
Reynauld normally: unstressed
Raynauld when he's stressed: simply focuses
What a chad
20:59 if you play it enough the legendary 0 crit heal + bleed will show up and you will upset because it happen during the boss and you needed the heal.
I literally learned how to mod the game just to change the minimum Occultist heal from 0 to 1. Holy shit the 0 heal + bleed drives me mad.
@@Jonsonercritical bleeding too
@@RafaelZenitus or when you're out of supplies and forget that moving outside of battle can mean you die of heart attack.
i lost like 3 people in one save to heart attacks from moving through hallways 😂@@Sybato
i thought that got patched out ages ago?
Connor : "how do you keep getting this many illnesses ?"
Also Connor : checks every rotten corpses
"The sin is not being outmatched, but in failing to recognise it."
i looooooooooooooove watching connor play darkest dungeon and fucking up, and being like "hahahahah thats the secret connor! youre never safe! rookie mistake!"
Connor not learning how to interact with events is so on brand
Clicks on the diseased carcass: Why am I getting sick!?
To be fair its easy to take our meta knowledge for granted. When I first played I had no clue what to do with curios and made bad choices allllll the time
@@BisexualActs1connor's problem is that he doesn't absorb said knowledge when playing, like you eventually will figure out that inviting slot in the curio screens fits for the thingies your heros bring to the mission, connor is like if arin hanson from game grumpd was a solo act.
50:04 "I definitely need to do a small mission this time"
*PICKS THE LONG QUEST*
The way how both Connor and the plague doctor did the exact same pose at 14:28
18:03 think about it like this:
You and your party are business as usual and the healer is using their basic stuff and so is everyone else. Then suddenly you see the healer use their aoe healing spell instead of the targeted one and the other adventurers start using their special abilities. Your stress goes up
I need more of this, specifically Connor losing his mind like every 5 seconds Bc of his own hubris
Ironmouse having her resolve tested and becoming POWERFUL is a canon event
1:05:09 they never want to go in again but they don't count towards your roster anymore so you can replace them no problem. at 1:05:32 they all have 80 stress for going back in with the permissive never again setting and a debuff that reduces their virtue chance by 25%. Base virtue chance is 25% so with no trinkets/quirks there is no chance of a virtue. Those surviving heroes do have a purpose though. If they are sent on non darkest dungeon mission they give all other heroes in the group a 25% (i think may be more) resolve xp buff meaning you can get another team together faster.
One of the few times I think it would have been a good idea to give Connor this Mets knowledge. Everything else is a trial by error, but this would have helped him not try to rush darkest levels.
@@MrTetrisz Yeah, not to mention too that the mission he gave up on is easily the hardest mission in the entire game. So many videos of people losing a full team on this mission because so few team compositions work.
Watching Connor seemingly going out of his way to run into traps gave me heartburn, but I still had fun with this video.
Finally, Darkest Dungeon.
Time to watch Connor get heart attack in real life.
This has been the most I've ever laughed in recent connor videos. Honestly so much fun a smile never left my face xD
So never played darkest but i guess i learned from watching this is "overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer" and also lepers are all meat werewolves.
The windows startup music at 2:51 gave me chills
Ah yess, Darkest Dungeon, where the stress in game also applied into real life.
as you can see, connor keep failing on stress check
His stress check was at the start and rolled "irrational"
0:50 "How's that fair!" Well connor, its not. The whole game is unfair. pain is mandatory, suffering is optional
There is a class that specifically heals stress- if you don’t play them as a moving bleed machine. Or maybe that’s just in DD2
Nah it's in DD1 as well, my homie the Jester!
You're talking about either Jester or Flagellant
@@forgottenashes8299jester, the flagellant in 2 is... Poisonous.
11:53 Typical reaction to Dismas and Reynauld:
"Success so clearly in view... Or was it just a trick of the light?"
This video single handedly revived my love for this game, thanks Connor
The fact that he made it 90% through the game with just the usual suspects party is amazing. So happy Connor enjoyed DD I love this game :)
In time Connor will learn the full extent of my failings.
Lmaao no he won't.
A whole hour of content with good editing is huge
For the uninformed, that second mission was a level 1 mission that he send level 0 heroes on, so they started the mission with 20/100 stress (100 being when the start freaking out, 200 being heart attack). Lots of times he was choosing missions based on loot and not first checking if it was a boss mission.
Playing a dark RPG fantasy game looks awesome
Party: "I'm feeling stressed"
Connor: "Shut up" lol
amazing editing, amazing playthrough. I watched this all on twitch, lots of content. Condensed and still amazing👍
The highs and lows of this game make it so addicting
Oh boy, One of the best RPG's ever made. Good luck, and remember, "Overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer"
Reading what everyone does and figuring out safe placement areas is key alongside your welfare. Stress enemies can be dragged to the front in order to get them smashed by the frontlines, or perhaps make them unable to inflict stress in the first place.
For anyone who watched the vods I just got to know. Did Conner finish the entire game without knowing that you can use items on curious (like holy water on the confession booth) ?
If so then damn he really is a GAMER
yes
He lost his only Champion crew at the 2nd Darkest Dungeon level and gave up. He didn't learn a goddamn thing
he never finished
Im Darkest Dungeon player/veteran and I find some joy watching how people strugle/react to this game. Love when they must remind themself that overconfidance is a slow and insidus killer... And how quickly the tide turns.
31:30 Did you just killed Wilbur? You poor soul... Thats the only thing YOU SHOULD NOT DO. But dont worry... We been there. We all learned that lesson
Shame that he didn't learn a thing even doing this fight more than once
Aaaaaaand now I got an burning need to replay darkest dungeon again. Thanks Connor!
I never seen that many misses!! That was so funny xD
He wasn't wary that triumphant pride precipitates a dizzying fall...
After connor played fear n hunger, i was hoping that someday we'll get to see le darkest dungeon as thats my fav game. That day has come now n im really happy.
reynold is a chad in every playthrough, him succeding the sanity check is almost a scripted event at this point
Dude, I was already tired and when this video started that initial scream rocked my brain in my skull
Every other person when at high sanity: my life is over
Ragnavaldr: FOCUSED GIGA CHAD POWER
Bro will pick the worst possible move and then turn around and blame Emma for it 😭
Recommendation: always have a way to heal stress, the crusader has a stress heal
Use the times like bandages and antitoxins on the curious to have positive interactions
never use the crusader as a stress healer lol the jester is just outright better
When Connor got the one room in the darkest dungeon the quote, "It was then that the king felt true fear for the first time", popped into my head
"stop hitting her!" he says to the enemies when they hit his healer that's positioned in the front row
16:51 mans got that top tier Donnie Thornberry impression 😂
33:29 lol what the plague doctor said after the safe roll xDDD
Bro, I can't wait he continue this series
I usually watch filthy play DD and this was grim reminder that this game is actually monstrously hard and most people get crushed pretty hard.
Oh let's goooo i love darkest dungeon. Currently playing through dd2 and while the new mechanics r enough to keep me interested i miss running double shieldbreaker, double crusader, and double bounty hunter lmao
He was unusually lucky for a first timer.
The sudden silence every time he swears make me feel like my headphones are bugging out...
Connor: "I feel like, this is a really solid team"
Team Name: "The Forsaken"
Fear and Hunger, then Darkest Dungeon... at this rate, the next logical step would be... Barotrauma, Lobotomy Corporation or Black Souls, I guess?
I remember picking up this game when it first released and had a bunch of RUclipsrs playing through it. I gave up on it very quicky after realising how grindy and unforgiving it was, i couldn't be bothered watching hours of progress be flushed away due to a RNG crit lol. It's way more fun to watch others suffer than to experience the suffering myself.
I would love to see an animation where a monster uses the last of their strength to curse the hero with the runs. That is a unique and beautiful form of petty that I can get behind.
Jesus fucking christ the editing is genuinely on a different level here, my LORD
DARKEST DUNGEON YES! Please more
This game slaps unreasonably hard
Gotta love the ´focus ring is decent huh?´
20:44 fun fact, I got this tutorial tip during one of the darkest dungeon missions
"Overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer." is just burned into my mind from watching this
I clicked on this video just to see comments like this😂
that the most tragic story of the legendary A-Team. they will be remembered
Reynauld and Dismas are easily my favorites. I know the game is all RNG and it's just a mental and perception bias, but they're so goated
"Planning and stratagy, as vital to survival as sharpend steel."
I went back to play this, discovered that I left my strongest team on a losing battle, they all died
“You will endure this loss, and learn from it. “
Mis-clicking is a fast and merciless killer. lol
losing your max level party is the biggest stress check in the game
cus that when you decide to keep going to avenge them
or rage quit
darkest dungeon is one of my favorite games and i'm ready to see how connor monke's his way through it
34:39
God i love Darkest Dungeon
also for anyone wanting to play the Leper, he has a lot of damage but very low accuracy, so put some accuracy trinkets on him to make him more consistent.
Remember, it doesn't matter how high your base damage is if you never hit 😁
Whenever he is just walking, I always expect to see a trap hit him.
this is what ragnvaldr did after his ending
This video captures perfectly ' that overconfidence is a slow, and insidious killer.'
watching, wondering if he is going to discover the wonders of point blank shot / duelist advance chaining with highway man
He has duelist advance / point blank shot. i am satiated. now i only wonder if he'll ever pull up the provisions and curios guides on the wiki to make his life exponentially higher quality lolol
31:31 if anyone is curious why is that boss absolutely wrecking Connor's team, he killed the little pig (Wilbur) first, that makes the big fuck you monster spam the AoE super damage+stun
DO NOT let this man see the steam workshop
loved the editing on this vid
Can't wait for Connor's playthrough of Darkest Dungeon 2, whenever that's going to be.
Love to see Conor play xcom 2 iron man mode but I don't know if he'd like it. It's not gritty or crazy hare but it's super fun
to be fair, overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer
i clicked this bc i thought the art of thumbnail was kind of like fear and hunger's and i thought, "is this darkest dungeon" and boom. now i replayed it this morning :))
Can’t believe how little he used Jester and Houndmaster considering he spent the entire time dealing with stress
