    I like that idea.
You never know when God is spying on you through some pair of eyes.
The kingdom of Heaven is described as a place where Jesus and God will go anonymously, unknown to anyone to whom they don't reveal themselves.
    Or one another.
So, how will you greet them?
The same way you greet everyone else.
It doesn't hurt to practice as if the kingdom might already be here.
Don't be caught practicing the kingdom of hell.

Tim, I’ve wondered this myself as an agnostic. There’s also a lot to be said about this “angels unawares” topic that is broached in both Islam and the Kabbalah (Jewish mysticism). If you don’t believe in God exactly as he says to believe in him, what’s the point? Good deeds are as dirty rags to him. So if I don’t believe in Jesus the way he says I should, I’m still fucked for all eternity regardless of my response to this “God in human form”. I’m really not trying to be a dick. I just want answers.

What if atheists and agnostics are the ones getting it right? That doesn’t make any sense!

Sorry, man. I only say this out of frustration. I’ve worked in customer service for a long time. The rule of thumb is to avoid the after-church crowd: they’re monsters. I’m not even Christ incarnate, come to test believers. I’m just a person, and yet I’m still treated like absolute garbage by people who wear cross necklaces.

What about the people who desperately wanted and needed to believe but just couldn’t keep their heads above water? I am people! I begged God to strengthen my faith or give me some kind of sign but he was silent and hidden. If my heart is hard towards him, I can’t claim full credit for that. I didn’t purposely harden my heart, I just grew jaded by his stone-cold silence amid my desperate pleas. It feels like God cares more for some souls than for others. Did he really die for all or just the few that he’d predestined to save? It’s kind of frustrating how Christians treat atheists and agnostics so flippantly. Praying harder or with more faith have done nothing to keep my belief alive. I’m tired of pretending that God exists. If he really does exist, then I would believe. But here we are.

Did you forgive others and repent of your own sins before praying yourself? Those are prequisites. God will not hear your prayers unless you forgive others as they have forgiven you. Not to mention, not everything is God's will. It is His choice. Did you seek it in your heart that it was truly what God wanted from you, or was it simply your own wants?

    • @Matthew515tweet

Appreciate your honesty, and sorry if the video came across 'flippant' - that was not our intention. We do sincerely hope and pray that God will be revealed afresh to you

I believe I’ve forgiven the people who have hurt me, but sometime I wonder if I actually haven’t because those events still hurt to think about. I’ve repented as much as I can for the things I feel sorry for and asked God to help me with the rest. Still nothing. It’s totally out of my hands now. I’ve left the ball in his court and so far, nothing.
So you don’t actually think it’s God’s desire that none should perish? That’s what it seems like. When you became a believer did you seek his will to see if he actually wanted a relationship with you before becoming one? Seems like an extra step that I hadn’t heard of before.

    • @crazygrace94

Matthew515 No, you didn’t sound flippant. I’m talking more about other believers in my life who always just assume they know what’s in my heart and mind. Thank you for your kindness, though.

Clouds, now that I’m thinking about it, God answers the prayers of my sister all the time even though she hasn’t forgiven my parents for hurting her. So what’s up with that? Do I just happen to be an Esau? How annoying.

The one big problem I have is that the bible was written by people who came from a culture where they never saw god, so of course their writings tried to come up with reasons why not. We would expect that whether or not the religion is correct.
So the question becomes, how can we show that the theological reasons given for divine hiddenness ARE correct?

The free will argument for both divine hiddenness and the problem of evil/suffering can be tidily summed up as "it's more fun for god that way."

You are 100 % correct... as a non believer I think godn IS a fairy tale... my question is WHO says there is a god? and what powers do they have that I dont to say they know ?... hebrews 11.1 .. faith is the hope of things to come, the evidence for things not seen.... evidence? apologists is a profession now looking for explanantions of a 66 books written when most people were illioterate... and WHo says god is supernatural ( a magician ) ?... created the universe? what if there are multiple universes?... another revision?

@@Matthew515tweet How can we determine when a text has been inspired by an extra-dimensional entity and when one hasn't? What is the demonstrably reliable methodology for sorting that? The writers of the Bible were all men, writing in their respective languages at their respective times, through their particular theological and cultural lenses. There's nothing in the Bible that is beyond the product of men alone.

    • @Matthew515tweet
      @Matthew515tweet  Год назад

It is the accumulative weight from various lines of evidences that Christians place such confidence on the inspiration and reliability of the Bible. E.g., fulfillment of predicitve prophecy, internal consistency, profundity of thought / teaching, historical accuracy, explanatory power of supernatural experiences (correlation with / confirmation of readers' lived experiences), etc, etc.
My previous comment was, however, more an invitation for you to address the not-exclusively-Scripture based elements of the video.
