Your vids are getting better!
Nice job!!!👏👏👏
Thank you!
Cheers mate, nothing to do with me! I just surf and talk, Dylan does all the filming and editing. It does help riding the boards a lot more and getting used to them. Just means I need to make more time for surfing..........Yewwwww
@@WoolyTV Definitely you are on a rigth way! Keep working hard! Thank you again!
great style n nice review...couple of unreal waves and nice linking turns especially w the uberVol going on...been thinking of a Tomo w that JetFighter tail happening...cheers 🤙🏼😎✨
Thanks mate
Love your reviews. Keep it up bruddah!
Yury Tsedenov thanks mate 🤙
I just got a 5'10 El Tomo. One of the fastest boards that I have ridden and for a fish and quad it performs well above its other fish counterparts. I'd say probably best to surf in your volume range or half to one litre above it in 1.5 - 3ft down then line waves is where it will really shine. But yet to give it a proper go in some more lack luster beachies.
Thanks for the feedback mate! Yeah If I could have got a hold of one a little closer to my DIMs I would have but as it was such a new model I had to grab what I could.
Cheers
Wooly you rip and love your reviews 🤙
Thanks!
That Back wash will get ya! Nice review
bodhi tree yeah we have very high tides, in the mornings, this time of year!
Catching a forward rail was the main drawback with the Evo, but they were meant to be ridden really short to minimise that problem. Tomos rail profiles started out fairly square in shape to maintain volume in his mph designs. As he has lengthened the rail line in his newer shapes that fullness has come down.
The Hydroshort has the most rolled deck of any of his boards, my centre thickness on my 6’8 is over 3 inches, but the board engages and turns smoothly and does not feel thick at all when surfing. The foam distribution is perfect, the rocker is spot on. Not once have the board given me reason to question its performance. So easy to surf, but exciting as well.
Thanks Evo Maniac
Hey Wooly, Great videos! Please can you do a review of the TOMO Vader ? Its so hard to find videos or reviews with good surfers surfing the vader..
Thanks so much! Glen
Hi Glen
Im trying to do mostly new models at this stage but if I get to a point where I can do a Vader, I will.
Cheers
Love it
Thanks
I fall in between the stock dims for the ET. Should I go with more liters or less if I’m using it mostly as hpsb? Point breaks and beac breaks
Hey mate, I actually think my El Tomo Fish was a size or two big. I would of went smaller personally myself. I usually ride around 33-36l and this board was 37.1. Thanks mate
Better than the vanguard whoa big call needs further investigation...cheers : )
I've still got an fst 5'6" Vanguard in mint condition. I'll never part with it!
You still like the Vanguard?
Hey mate, love the vids. I was wondering, how does this compare to the seaside? I'm looking to transition to more of a flowy and relaxed style instead of shredding up and down constantly and being stressed out when one of the five turns didn't go perfectly 😅
Hi mate, I haven't ridden a Seaside (I have the Seaside and Beyond) as yet but I have one coming in the next month or so to review. I would like the Seaside will surf a lot more horizontal to the El Tomo, the Seasides has a wider plan shape. The El Tomo will ride tighter in pocket. So the Seaside would probably have more of a flow down the line with more horizontal turns - cutbacks/floaters etc
Hope that helps
I'm watching your seaside and beyond review right now, looks like it might be a strong contender too 🤯 too much to choose from! Thanks for the reply brother ✌️
@@WontonDestruction no worries. If you cant find what your after at your local surf shop then check out www.starsurf.com.au - we can ship boards anywhere in Oz (thats if you're in Oz!?)
@@WoolyTV you know it brother! Thanks heaps for the info and the good vibes 🤙
Big Wool, that board looks good under your feet, i think you were making mistakes in steeper waves not compensating for the extra volume. However out on the face the board did not look over volumed, especially on your backhand. Also the fact that you normally ride tri fins may have hung you up in turns. Considering its a very different board to what you usually ride, and it has 4 fins your surfing looked good. I think you should review a Cymatic one day which is a better performing board, or the Hydro short.
Thanks Evo Maniac. Yeah I had a love/hate relationship with the board. I do think it was a touch too much volume for me (but just a touch) as I found it grabbing a little just forward of my front foot on certain types of turns. Im not a fan of my surfing on quads and twins, I feel like thrusters suit me a lot better. Sounds like Im going to have to try a HydroShort soon.........Im trying to ride newer models that are just dropping but Im sure I can slide a Hydroshort in there after the 5 I have at the moment. 2 x Pyzel, 2 x JS and a Twice Baked
@@WoolyTV Great surfing mate! I found the 5'5 El Tomo to have a little too much volume as well. But the 5'4 seemed a little too short. Excellent looking model, but might have to go custom. I too think you should give the Hydroshort a go! The board is mental! ... and it has a wide outline so you can drop down in size if you wanna get really radical. Yeww! :)
@@DeforestLCooper 1 more vote for the Hydroshort! Ha, might have to get one in the list
Great video. Do you prefer el tomo fish or firewire dominator 2.0?
Im still finishing off the Dom review but I would say Im liking the Dom over the El Tomo fish.
Nice. If you had to chose the Black Baron or El Tomo which one would it be?
Hi mate,.
They are very different boards, Baron surfs like a modern day twin where as the El Tomo is more of a performance board that I think would work well in rolling point breaks.
@@WoolyTV thanks mate! Really good insight, I’m actually leaning more towards the pyzel astropop. Your reviews are awesome, keep up the good job,
really appreciate your work!
Hey wooly, what's your height, weight and volume you normally ride? Love the vids! Cheers
Thanks mate, my standard short board is usually 6'1" approx 33 - 34L JS Monsta Box. I'm 6'1 1/2" 87kgs on a good day.........90kg on a bad one
@@WoolyTV thanks wooly, I really appreciate the effort you put into your work. Excellent job. Legend!
@@brettwalker6971 Thanks mate, don't worry I enjoy every bit of it. I have worked in the surf industry for most of my life and love working in my surf school too. Talking surfboards all day every day
Hey Wooly, how does it compare to the JS Black Baron? Which did you prefer?
Sorry….Just seen that someone else asked the same thing….
All good!
Ripper! How does the El Tomo Fish compare to the Firewire Seaside?
They are very different boards. Seaside is much flatter in the nose rocker and surfs very differently to the El Tomo
Longer rollier waves seem to be theme with tomos
Defiantly felt like a board that would work well in a weaker, rolling point break
Are you surfing Bunbury?
Nah mate not Bunbury. I haven been know to stop at the Bunbury Growers mart sometimes....
You should try the hydroshort
Hi mate
Yeah a lot of feedback has been around the Hydroshort! I may have to try one.
Cheers
@@WoolyTV yew
He Man, what size and weight are you ?
Hey mate, I am 6'1 and 87kg on a good day
Man the board looked dead as a door nail. No spark no x factor. I would be really interested to see you on a hydroshort by Tomo. Much better looking board 👍
Thanks for the feedback. Have you ridden a Hydroshort? What conditions does it work well in? We have had a few through the shop but not that many so I haven't paid much attention to it.
@@WoolyTV I've got it and it works great in anything from 2-8 foot put is best in 3-6 foot punchy waves. Super clean and is amazing on rail
Ya didn't sell me one Wooly. Looked slow and stiff, one or other would be excusable but not both.
Yeah mate I think I would have had a slightly different result if I had a slightly less volume, that was 37.1L and I usually ride 33-34L. I think that board will suit certain surfers and will perform good on certain types of waves - more rolling point breaks. Saying all that, I did still have fun on it in waves that had fat sections and then steeper sections to tun on.
must say that i can see what you mean.even tomo looked better on his other models..board looks stiff with out the glide of the cymatic for exemple.regardless to this wooly surfed it pretty nice for such an over sizing board...
