Great review! Cheers.. I’ve been riding a Seaside for about a year but have found it a bit squirrelly when it gets about head high. My favorite board of all time was Nev’s old FW Futura. This board looks a lot like it. I think I’m sold. Cheers!

Ill def get it in a smaller size for smaller waves but it's pretty versatile at a bigger size and i have surfed it in 8-10 ft steamer lane and other heavier sc north coast spots and it handles all comers so far. Its a beastly wave sled fo sho! gonna tune into your channel more often bro! Keep ripping. Inspiring to see another older bloke still stoked and frothing (Im 50 and still am a frothing grom most of the time!).
Nice hybrid, I've enjoyed all the FW Dominator versions and still have a Seaside. It looks way more performancy, but that might be the diff rider haha but yeah looks fun 🤙
I started off surfing the Mashup as a 2+1 and it was crazy loose but lacked drive. Switched to a large quad set and it has speed and drive for days! Only issue I have now is I'm struggling on my backhand - the fin search continues so maybe a medium rear set to loosen it up a bit.
Thanks Wooly! Super helpful content as always! Mind me asking how does it compare with the CI Happy Everyday? I'm stepping down from a 7"2 mid-length and looking for something around the 6"2-6"4 range.
Hey man, thank you so much for all the content that you create. The Information is priceless! Do you find the mash-up in the helium corky at all? How does it compare to the JS sub-zero ? 🙂
Great review Woolly, loved the piss-takes and humour, most enjoyable and relatable review I’ve seen 👍🏼 I have a 6’6 Mash and a 6’8 Dom2 - the Mashup has amazing quirks of brilliance and really does keep speed on the weakest sections- but then sometimes it has the occasional hiccup quirk 🤷🏽♂️ Except for perhaps the little extra plane on weak sections I don’t seem to notice a great deal of performance difference from the Dom2 which seems so much easier, or natural to ride. Love em both but recently bought a Kelvinator which again has a life of its own now that I found the right fin combo. My wife wants me to sell one - due to there being so much crossover I chose the Mashup to sell but I put a decent price on it and no one has offered that money (immaculate condition). That’s great, hoping wifey will forget about it because I know I’ll regret it 😂😂😂 Oh yeah, we both know Bruce is always lurking along that stretch… 😅
Yeah there is a few Bruce’s around there 😂. I find the Mash Up very different to the Dom. Have you played with the fins much? It really is a different board after playing with the fins
@@WoolyTV I run them both with a quad keel set up very similar to the Machado Seaside set, but honeycomb from Project Blank at less than a third of the price. They’ve discontinued them atm. I tried two plus one and thruster in the Mashup but didn’t like them. I really like the big drivers in the front boxes with the smaller rears. Perhaps I was hyped up and expecting so much from the Mashup, above the D2… I feel as though the D2 has a similar small wave range but a higher range for overhead surf. That’s for me personally and we’re all so different as riders 😊
@@kalenspencer5799 I’m around 231 lb… yep, they are different but at those sizes there’s a lot of overlap for me. Can ride both in knee high waves but if it’s double overhead the D2 is the go - if I can only keep one it’s the D2. You can’t lose imho. Both boards fit me much better as quads, especially with the Machado style keel set up.
Hi I love your reviews because you tests the boards in everyday wave. I also, like better than test done in pools. Have ever compare Mashup vs Dominator 2? I’m have the Mashup use FCS H4 thruster when is choppy and H4 quad when is clean. The Mashup and rides pretty good. I will like to know if there is much differences specifically when waves are pumping 4-6 ft.
Hi mate You should watch the Dom 2 review and have a look at the way that one performs. The D2 is more like a daily driver and works probably a little better (for me) in head high surf that the Mash Up.
Great review. I have the mashup and love it up until head high. I have a chance to pick up an El Tomo Fish for a great price. Do you reckon they overlap too much or does the Tomo do well when it is head high?
Wooly!!!! Glad the knee is feeling better, and you’re stilling rippin! Thank you for another awesome review. How did it feel as 2+1? JS Sub Xero vs Mashup? Which would ya choose?
I liked it as a 2 + 1 but think I preferred it as a quad. Hard to compare them as I rode the Sub Xero as the first board after having 6 months out of the water so I wasn’t surging the beat on that one 😂. I almost rode the Sub Xero at 37L so it was a touch harder to throw around than the Mash Up. I think it’s close but the Mash Up might have felt a touch faster.
Awesome review as always! Agree with you that EPS goes fine in subpar conditions. Quick question- for knee to chest high beachies, would you go mashup or sweet potato?
Your stoke for surfing looked better than the boards performance Wooly. You still ripped it though and the knee looks strong. I will agree the board looked so much better in the small sloppy beachie.
