    Wolf warrior is a label on any Chinese who has the temerity to talk back and not kowtow to the white man.

      Yeah, the US was used to China kowtowing to them and now that China feels that biding their time is over and now have the strength to assert their interest, the US call it wolf warrior diplomacy. lol, they just want the chinese to go back to just saying yes to them.

    For those who don't look into and get involved with China, here is an interesting point for you. Although the Western media calls Chinese foreign affairs officials wolf warriors, domestically the Chinese people think they are still weak. So everything the foreign minister says causes complaints domestically (unless like what Yang Jiechi said in Anchorage). A huge misunderstanding for China from a western perspective is, to tend to think that everything the Chinese government says and does does not reflect Chinese people's will but only Xi Jinping's view. That's utterly wrong and merely a continuity of the mindset of yellow peril.

    • @godzillamothra5983
      @godzillamothra5983 Год назад

      the funny thing is that the so called wolf warrior policy is no different than the one the west often use against the rest of the world. The west criticized China for using economic sanctions against other, but you know who often use economic sanctions? Yap, the west. Basically the west is uncomfortable that there is non west nation having the power to turn the table on them.

    In spite of all the proclamations of the technological strength of NATO weaponry, up-to-now this claim had not been proven at Ukraine. Their tanks do not seem to be a tough as their advertisements indicate; hence all the announcements of their experience and technologies are boughed down over there.
    On the question of China rail link to ASEAN, clearly this will benefit from this links as seen by the volume of trade generated by Laos and Thailand and Cambodia. This rail-link will surely improve the logistics of the region.

    Yes, Selina you kind of admitted on the realities of life. You said the folks in China's MFA behaves "wolf warrior-like" because of career advancement as the reds has prevailed over the technocrats. Isn't it the same with local media (ST, CNA, etc.) journalists and also people working in LKYSPP like you. Everyone notices there's also been a change in tone to be hawkish on China, pushing the China-bad theme and doing the occasional China-bashing. This is due to directives from the top in Sg govt which is under pressure from the hegemon, US to take side in their rivalry with China, isn't it ?. Aren't you also following these directive for career advancement ? It's LP-PL, isn't it ? you know what i mean.

    How young is she? Way back in 50's & 60's, the local Chinese educated in Malaya & Singapore began to play 'China politic from Mao's 'tiny red book'. They were known as Chinese 'terrorists' raging all kind of 'atrocities' on innocent villagers and Malay kampong folks. The question remained "where have they gone to?" All 'imprisoned' in the tiny Malay island of Singapore. Those 'hard-cored' were sent to Pulau Senang ending up with a notorious revolt on the island. This Chinese loyally 'political mindset remained until today. Hopefully China becomes a 'super power' to boost up the morale of the local Chinese to be respected. To a Chinese..."FACE-VALUE" in a foreign land. ITU SAJA!

    I find it funny the choice of words used by the interviewer and the prof to describe a more confident foreign policy of China. More nationalistic, “won’t back down” and such… it’s not really negative but has that nuance that it is bad… isn’t it? However, in my memory of media coverage of international affairs, such coloration of western diplomats were never seen before… I wonder why this supposedly unbiased coverage/discussion needs to use such descriptions of such colors.

    error correction: "CCP" (Chinese Communist Party) doesn’t exist nor make any sense, as it ignores which country this party is for, or where this kind of party is acknowledged as the country's ruling party
    WORSE: it is a racist ethnic-based "Chinese" label to smear China's diverse Ethnicities as only mono-ethnic, which it isn't
    CPC: Communist Party of China (the country) is the main ruling party of People's China (the country), of great ethnic diversity
    whereas various other kinds of parties in People's China (PRC), which there are many, serve other roles, and not as the primary lead guiding party of national governance
    Likewise:
    Communist Party of Singapore (would be in Singapore): CPS
    NOT:
    Singaporean (Ethnic/Racial insinuated) Communist Party "SCP"
    Communist Party of Russian Federation (would be in Russian Federation): CPRF
    NOT:
    Russian (Ethnic/Racial insinuated) Communist Party "RCP"
    Communist Party of the United States of America (would be in USA): CPUSA
    NOT:
    American (Ethnic/Racial insinuated) Communist Party "ACP"

    Peter Zeihan, another author, and geopolitical expert has a dimmer view on China's trajectory. He cites China's deteriorating demography, China's lack of food self-sufficiency, China's energy dependence, and also China's navy inability to go deep-sea should the need arise to secure vital food and energy supplies far from shores. The USA on the other hand has decent demography --thanks to migrants. It has food security, and energy independence. Her navy is deep-sea capable. The Chinese leadership probably knows China can't survive a sanction on the scale that Russia has seen, even before any war were to begin.

    • @jlkh03
      @jlkh03 Год назад

      Yes but the US would not survive its own sanctions on China. Eg. the Trump regime's trade war. Experts like Zeihan will claim that China's demographics are declining, but at any point in time there will always be more young and educated workers in China than US. Experts will also claim China's too dependent on the international markets but in much of its history, the Middle Kingdom had closed itself off and yet remained the largest economy in the world. Experts might believe that America has advantage of self-sufficency but it's never been proven correct. Without its European and Asian dependencies, reduced to its own island continent, that isn't an America that can compete with China in an integrated Eurasia. Let alone the globalized world.

      Peter Zeihan is a joke! You can't tell this when you listen to him? his conclusions are laughable. He has a very subsurface knowledge of word affairs and events, he knows nothing about china. Try verifying the "facts' he bases his conclusions from, if not from regurgitating rehashed claims from the western press, he lies.

      @Chris Eo As everyone know that China is the biggest trade partner for most countries around the world ....What will happens if China tell everyone that they are not going to accept USD as transaction ? ? Can anyone replace China as a manufacturing hub ?? If not where they going to buy their products from ?? Will everyone starting to ditch USD if China make the announcement ??
      Can US print money without losing it value if there is no demand ??

    • @madsam0320
      @madsam0320 Год назад +12

      P Zeihan has been predicting China’s fall as long as Gordon Chang, two very bad comedians.
      China is self sufficient in food with the most reserves in grains and forests that are not cultivated.
      China also has vast reserves of fossil fuels and access to oil and gas rich countries like Russia and Central Asia.
      USA is printing money like there is no tomorrow and heavily in debt. Sovereign debt is over 30 trillions usd. The dollar may be strong today because it’s still a refuge for many unstable countries, but the chicken will be coming back to roost, there will be a stampede when the panic set in.
