  • The current flying car prototype AeroMobil 3.0 incorporates significant improvements and upgrades. It is now being tested in real flight conditions since October 2014. Initially certified by the Slovak Federation of Ultra-Light Flying, it now entered a regular flight-testing program.
The AeroMobil 3.0 prototype is very close to the final product. It is predominantly built from the same materials as the final product, such as advanced composite materials for the body shell, wings, and wheels. It also contains all the main features that will be incorporated into the final product, such as avionics equipment, autopilot and an advanced parachute deployment system.

Great design. I've been following you guys ever since I first saw that 2.5 version.
    Four things could be improved:
    - The back wheels are hanging down a lot when flying, and I assume they increase drag significantly (plus they look awkward). Couldn't you make them to retract a little?
    - The ground clearence in the front section is too small. When you landed in that grass field at the end of the video, it looked as if it brushed along the ground a little (I might be wrong but, either way, it could use more ground clearence when landing, especially on uneven terrain with small rocks and debris on it).
    - One of the propeller's blade is too close to the ground while driving. A three bladed propeller wouldn't have this problem.
    - The side windows are way too small. While flying this might not be a big issue, but when driving this is a potential hazard due to its limiting field of view.
Otherwise, congratulations. This is the first car / plane hybrid that looks like it has a future, in my opinion.

Very nice idea, but i have seen One flaw, when the Car lands, the clearance on the front wheels is not enough as the chasis is too close to the ground, they should modify the front axle to have some form or hydraulic system to distance itself when landing and not hitting the runway with the chasis, or make the chasis a bit less streamlined with more clearance for the wheels. :) all-in-all a fantastic idea.

It is very impressive. They have chosen technology that work in practical reality and executed it in with style and professionalism. An ultra stylish aircraft that can be folded into driving on regular roads. The Moller Skycar, with all respect for a lifetime of trying and funding, isn´t the answer either for the optimal flying car. Technology is needed which so far is not known to common man. Simplicity, stability, safety. Second nature "beam-me-to" auto navigation.

While the technology is cool, what exactly is the purpose of a flying car? Do we expect everybody to be flying around everywhere they go individually when this thing costs millions of dollars? And if so, isn't it a problem when this runs on a gasoline engine and the effects on the climate crises? Shouldn't our dream be to save the planet?

  • @GeminiWoods
    @GeminiWoods 9 лет назад +243

While the concept is cool, it's not practical. It takes far too much room for take off and landing. The future is all about space restriction and what can be done within it. If we are to have flying vehicles built for the general public someday, they will need vertical thrust for easy maneuverability. How will you have hundreds of people taking off and landing at the same time for their morning commute? You would have to spend hours in queue for your turn. Also, accidents while in the air and being able to avoid them. If computer navigated mid air highways are the next step you will need the ability to bring your vehicle to a complete stop or even reverse while in flight. An on board computer with accelerometers and gyros will be needed to handle all of the small calculations needed to take much of the human error out of the equation while flying. (keeping the vehicle level and easily drivable) While this looks like a "cool toy" I believe it to be a step in the wrong direction.

I truly love innovation and I wish AeroMobil all the best with the 1% market. Yet mark my words, ten to twenty years from now there will be only less than a 200 of said "Flying Cars" in the U.S.A. I truly wish that I was wrong on this matter. A.The FAA/USA government would never allow the average U.S. citizen/ licensed driver to fly such a craft. B: Worldwide air traffic is at a all-time-high. C: Low, mid and high flying drones (obstacles) are only increasing bi-monthly.
Check-out any data on major nations throughout the world on road traffic accidents and deaths, then think of a 1000 to 3000 pound aircraft crashing into highway traffic, any local road, homes and even rural farm lands. The loss of life, property damage, lawyer fees. Hell, your insurance cost alone would be astronomical. - Sorry, perhaps for the very rich, the 1%, yet never for the majority of the world.

Yea good luck parking that hunk in any moderately busy city.
That's the only disadvantage I can think of for this incredible piece of technology and innovation. Amazing.

It's quite obvious this won't be a civilian vehicle any time soon, but hell , this is the coolest shit I've seen in a very long time. It's very existence pushes the current boundaries of innovation.

This is great!...But I think that the "Quadcopter" technology is way better for flying cars because you could actually change direction while flying,go backwards,or remain in a static position...This is more like a mini-plane than a "Flying Car",but it's also cool anyways.

It looks so good. In the near future, car-to-car communications and self-driving cars will greatly reduces traffic congestion and accidents. The next step is car-drone-flying car communication will solve traffic and safety issue so that this beautiful flying thing will become mainstream. Back to the Future anyone?
